Once there was a boy growing up in a dingy little town. He was depressive, shy, artistic, reclusive. An introvert. He took pills to battle depression. He drank. He self-medicated. He was just a kid. He was cute but dirty, didn't like to shower, just liked to sing and smoke and write poetry and play music and draw art. Then one day he started a band and became the singer.
The band was rough, punky, loud at first, hardcore, crunchy and driven. Their lyrics were just plain weird.
The band grew in popularity really rapidly, so rapidly that the band members often felt overwhelmed by their sudden fame. People started to recognize them and make more demands on them. They went from being a bunch of potheads riding around in a van to being a huge arena act. They quickly became one of the biggest acts in the country, won awards, travelled all over.
The band continued to rise in popularity and the singer became more depressed. Took more pills. Drank more. Scared his bandmates once in a while with his desperation.
The band also had a message. They were against homophobia so strongly that a lot of people thought the singer was gay. He made out with his bandmates for shock value. He spoke out strongly against voilence, said it made him physically ill. He was a devout feminist. He spoke out loud and clear about the horrible way women were treated. He spoke out about how difficult it was for women in bands to be taken seriously. He spoke out against sexism in music. He went so far as to tell any "fan" of the bands that if they were sexist, racist or homophobic, to get rid of all the merch they had bought of the band, because he didn't want those kinds of people listening to him.
The singer also had a long-term girlfriend who was with him from before the band started. No one ever really knew much about her at the time. She stayed out of the limelight. But when the band got really big, they broke up, amongst whispered rumors of her "not being supportive enough" and not being there enough for him. Because he was emotionally dependent on others. This was becoming clear. The singer had a lot of fear in him. More and more he talked about it in his songs, his fear.
The singer also decided to get clean, to try to be well. To learn to stand up without any crutches. For a while he seemed to be doing well, the next album the band released was a departure from their old, punkier stuff. It was more produced, cleaner, lyrically crazier. They did a really cool video that started with a shot of a dying man in a hospital bed surrounded by a wall of sheets while the band played on the screen.
The singer briefly dated someone else, it didn't last too long.
Around the time that the guy's band was getting popular, there was also a girl in a band. Hers was a band of both men and women. They were struggling, just starting to get good gigs. They were different from the guy's band and had a different message. More violent. Louder, more hardcore. The girl, she dressed in children's clothes, like a schoolgirl. Ripped up stockings and dresses. She threw herself into the crowd during concerts, acted crazy. There were rumors about this band being into drugs, lots of rumors. Rumors specifically about her drug habits.
When the guy and the girl met and suddenly were involved in this whirlwind romance, each of the band's fans were shocked. Rumors flew from both sides. That she was too hardcore for him, he was too sensitive for her. Her fans hated his band for being poppy sellouts. Some of his fans tried to accept her, because he had made it clear that he was in love. Also with him being a femimist, he supported her band that had women in it.
But the rumors wouldn't quit. As happy as he said he was, he seemed a little too manic sometimes, depressed other times. She seemed to be in her element. Her band was getting loads of attention now. When anyone made a reference to her "past" drug use or to their relationship, the guy would get defensive. He was an adult. Thanks, but he could take care of himself now. He knew what he was doing.
His bandmates was strangely quiet throughout this crazy romance and surprising marriage. Their lives were alreayd stable, they were in relationships of their own. That's how it goes when people grow up, you change what you care about. After that last big record and tour, his band took a well-deserved break. He needed time to settle into his new life. Her band's popularity grew... of course it did. People were interested.
It was quiet for a while. Most people assumed everything was fine. A few observant people knew that it wasn't. Any fans who dared to suggest that things might not be going to well, they were shot down by the optimists who accused them of being "jealous" or "haters". When concerned people pointed to the signs the others said, "none of that means anything!"
But the truth was that it wasn't all going well.
I was there the first time this happened.

I'm sorry to say but I agree with everything you have said. I witnessed some of these things with my own two eyes just a few nights ago when a friend and I went to see the last dates of Projekt Revolution. All throughout the day we were informed that Gerard had been acting strangely and moping around, as he and the band approached the stage, he was not acting like himself. He was manic, his eyes were shot, he couldn't hold still, he kept his distance from the entire band as a matter of fact. Frank kept his distance; he stayed in his corner the entire night. As if that wasn't worse, Gerard's speech was slurred and he was repeating incoherent words that I myself could not make sense out of. During the middle of the performance after Cancer, the entire setlist was cut in half. Gerard took off like a bat out of hell. The band left the venue aright away, which is very strange. That was when my friend and I realized that Gerard had gone back to the booze. To this day no one believes us, but then again, half of the My Chem fans are fucking stupid and unobservant so I could care less what they though. I witnessed Gerard's destruction. It is only a matter of time before you hear the words, "divorce." Lyn-Z was also drunk and there is an eyewitness account that someone had met her and told people that she was high on cocaine and booze. Sadly, that turned out to be actual fact.

You're obviously very misinformed about this. Every performance at Projekt Revolution has ended with Cancer, so the setlist was in no way "cut in half."
All throughout the day we were informed that Gerard had been acting strangely and moping around, as he and the band approached the stage, he was not acting like himself.
This is ludicrous. This fanbase is unbelievable in how much it assumes it knows about the members of the band. Do you know Gerard well enough to know that he wasn't acting like himself? I doubt it. We as fans see perhaps 5% of their lives, which many assume gives us some kind of insight into the personalities of the band members. It doesn't. We see them perform, we see them in interviews, we occasionally see them after shows. In all of these situations they have to be "on," and I doubt they act in the same ways they do in the presence of family and friends.
Lyn-Z was also drunk and there is an eyewitness account that someone had met her and told people that she was high on cocaine and booze. Sadly, that turned out to be actual fact.
I don't know anything about Lyn-Z, but I would like to see proof that this was "fact."
To stacey, no I was not misinformed. The band was supposed to perform 14 songs because I was told people who went to the other shows said they performed 14 songs but at the concert I went to they only played at least 7 and then when they were finished with Cancer, they cut the setlist short and took off. They were supposed to play "Heaven help us" but they didn't.
As for Lyn-Z I saw her smiling and giggling alot and she looked really "tipsy" like she had a few drinks that day. Gerard was already drunk by then. I am not making this up. A friend and I knew right away that they were drinking by the way we saw their actions backstage. I'm very sorry but this is what I saw during that day. Why is there a reason for me to make this up when I saw all of this firsthand? I'm really sorry you feel that way but this is what I saw with my own eyes. It all happened. No make believing, no lying, nothing. Gerard is drinking again and so is Lyn-Z.
Thanks venitavenom. I am trying to bring the truth out but some people don't want to hear it. It's frustrating sometimes.
Bleeding Chaos, what city was this in? I'm just surprised that if this is true I haven't heard anything about it; half the fandom seems so eager to talk shit about Gerard these days that something like only playing seven songs would've been all over the place.
Stacey, the concert took place September 1st at Tinley Park. A friend of mine and myself arrived there to hang out and of course, see My Chem. All other shows they performed 14 songs and the venue personel gave me a booklet containing the entire setlists for all of the bands performing. I still have it as a matter of fact. My Chem was supposed to perform from 8:45 P.M. to 9:45 P.M. you know what time my friend and I left after we were finished? It wasn't even 9:00! No one paid any attention to the setlist of course. They didn't pay attention to the fact that they only played 7 songs. I also found ou that my chem's setlist was cut short because linkin park wanted to perform a more longer set. No one told us about that until it was too late. Linkin park never did that at the other PR shows and to top it off, My Chem left the venue almost right away, which they never do. They always stay around for a while.
After talking to several people that I know and trust who attended the Tinley show, I've come up with two theories: either the booklet you were given with the set times was incorrect, or you're lying. Throughout the entire tour MCR has gone on sometime around 7:45 to 8, and finished up anywhere from 8:30 to 8:45. My friends tell me that at Tinley they came on at 7:45 and finished around 8:35, which was an average set length for them.

What was that about seven songs? I really hope you just got confused somewhere along the way, because actually trying to lie about something that obvious? Pathetic.
People made mistakes and I guess I made mine, although they were supposed to play "Heaven help us" but no one knows why they didn't. I'm really sorry about that. I'm not here to fight or argue with anyone I do not know but yep, I made a mistake. It does not change the fact of what I did see at that show though. Everything I have seen did happen I'm afraid. The only thing was, The tour crew took longer to get everything set up, much more longer than it took for the other bands to get their stuff ready.
I'm not disagreeing with you on the fact that they didn't play Heaven Help Us, although Chicago was not the first city in which it was cut from the set. As far as I'm aware MCR's set up DOES take the longest of any of the bands because of all the pyrotechnics used during their set. And I hope you understand that I find it more than hard to believe you about everything else you claim to have seen, as your 'mistake' doesn't speak very highly for your credibility.
That's what I noticed during the time where the tech crew was setting up the amps, the drums, and everything else. With the other bands it took less time to get everything set up but yeah with my chem, they had to spend more time getting the pyrotechnics set up. Frankly I don't care if some people don't believe my credibility when it comes to what I saw. My friend saw the same thing and they will tell you what I already said and this friend did get the chance to meet Gerard during the bullet days when he was still struggling with the booze and the drugs. From them that was when we noticed Gerard was drunk. They recognized his behavior. I'm not the only one who noticed it. Other fans who went to the same show I did saw it too. I'm more worried about what's going to happen now.
I went to the Tinley park show. I was significantly disappointed. I paid 300 dollars for a 5th row ticket in sec 102. I should have just paid my rent on time that month.
Most of the time I spent was near the buses that day.
I'd like to know how you were close enough to MCR's bus to see inside and notice the Gin on the table.
*Their bus was in the left row of buses IN THE BACK.
*There was security in yellow shirts making sure no one overstepped their boundaries at the gate.
*THE BUSES WERE AT LEAST 50 ft. from THE GATE.
Did you have some bad ass binoculars with you that day?
I do agree the show seemed a little short. I thought it was because they were the only band I was really excited to see. I don't doubt at all that Gerard has turned to alcohol again. But why would my (or anyone's) opinion matter anyway?
I was actually right alongside the buses at the New York show and another east coast show. They all travel in different buses. Gerard's had alcohol in the window. Not on the table, but in the window. Saw it plain as day, he went into the bus alone after brushing everyone off, and Worm closed the door behind him.
I went home feeling sick because of what I saw.
Honestly, I have a cousin who loved MCR and MSI before Projekt Rev. And she introduced MSI to me, mere weeks away from LynZ and Gerard Way's romance. At the concert I went to, Gerard didn't look wasted. He looked like a happy man in a happy relationship, who respects his fans, loves music, and has supportive bandmates.
Though I guess I'm just fucking stupid and unobservant, so my opinion really doesn't matter.
THis made me shiver, not in a good way.
