The art of defending racism

Someone sent me a great link in my inbox today that I want to share with you all. These are a lot of the excuses we hear from the MSICR camp and defenders...

The Art of Defending Racism

Saying or doing something racist will come naturally to you- but defending it? You’ll want to use one of the following tactics. ...

Tactical options:

A. It’s not that serious

1. We didn’t know better (and we never will)
2. You’re too sensitive
3. It’s not a big deal because it’s just (a movie, a song, a book, words, etc.)
4. Why should we care? (You don't matter anyway)
....

B. But!

...
7. We’re not discriminating AS MUCH (as other people/as we used to), isn’t that good?!? Give me a cookie.
...

C. Dismissal!

1. You’re oppressing me by making me be “PC”
2. You’re too stupid to be in this conversation and everything you say doesn’t matter
3. Racism is over now
4. If we don’t talk about it, it’ll magically go away
5. Under my definition- it’s not racist
6. You’re too angry/You’re being irrational
...

Denial of impact:

Denial of impact involves a person avoiding thinking about or understanding the harms their behavior have caused to themselves or others. By doing this, that person is able to avoid feeling a sense of guilt and it can prevent that person from developing remorse or empathy for others.

This is a really old link but it's pretty good and it reminded me of some of what people say here in defense of these people.

I think the same thing goes for misogyny and homophobia presented in these lyrics, comments and lifestyles too.

If you want to be taken seriously in the art world or the literary world you have to do the standard headshot. You just have to. No matter how edgey you want to think you or your work is.

Very true. Art is no different to any other business (although artist like to think it is).

I would love to see a picture of Stephen King or Maya Angelo lying across a sofa with bleached blonde hair like that picture of Lynz. lol

Perhaps Gerard can do some edgy poses with Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon for his next comic launch. :)

Maybe they can reenact some other tragic historical event. The Holocaust maybe?

The pretentious ones do like think that they're special.

The smart ones know that they're no more special than anyone else with a product to sell to the consumer. They know it's a business deal more than an art deal.

Or 9/11. Lindsey, Ba and Moon can be victims and Gerard can be rushing in in a fireman's suit just before the second tower falls. People will love that.

Lol! That's exactly what that picture reminded me of.

"Lonely? Give me a call. I'm waiting to talk to you."

No, never the holocaust :(

He could pretend he is Decker chasing down his replicates.

Wouldn't it be something if he came up with a scene all by himself? Without "borrowing" from something else?

Think of art the same way a John thinks of a hooker.

There are hundreds that line the streets and walk to his car asking if he wants a date.

That John could buy any one of them. They all provide the same services.

But that John is looking for something that he feels is special. Something that touches him or reminds him of something or someone else.

That's the piece the John will buy.

A piece that might have been passed over 100 times that night. For that one John at that moment it was everything he needed and wanted.

Ah, so that's what Lindsey was doing when she posed for that picture. Smart.

Anonymous said...

And the next day John wakes up screaming I paid 1.5 million for what? lol

Like it or not, sex sells.
Fantasy sells.
They always have.

Only Lindsey wouldn't be everyone's idea of a sexual fantasy. To Gerard and some MSI fans maybe.

Knowing a few professional artists I know they would never release pictures akin to Lindsey and her girl friend. They take their business seriously.

Lol. 'We aren't generating enough interest with the public with this so we'll act like it's the last record.'

Didn't they try that trick with TBPID?

So full of shit.

Anonymous said...

"I didn't raise enough questions on 'The Black Parade', I just set up a load of bleakness and misinterpretation," he (Gerard) commented.

Really? So what kind of questions is he raising with this album? "What color should my Killjoys jacket be? How will I manage to sneak my Killjoys raygun into the venue?"

He's so fucking stupid.

Anonymous said...

Don't you know Gerard has to scare the shit out of the fangirls every so often by mentioning the band possibly ending? He's been doing it since LOTMS. He had girls in tears last year at the Madison Square Garden show when he gave his "if this is the last show we ever do" speech.

I'm convinced that he's probably sitting at his computer, watching all the comms for the reactions.

Anonymous said...

*last tour

Anonymous said...

LOL now he's freaking out on twitter saying that he's been misquoted.

Anonymous said...

Gerard was probably in the middle of one of his diva fits when he talked to NME and was threatening to quit the band. Now he wants to take it back.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if this Dan_Morris person is a twitter sock puppet like tallicadude?

Anonymous said...

Gerard was so thrilled to have a male fan tweet him, it made him decide not to dissolve the band. ;p

Anonymous said...

Oh how I wish Jessicka would take her feminist ranting and direct its energy at her friend and her racist, sexist band. OH HOW I WISH FOR SOME SENSE AND CLARITY OF OPINION FROM THAT WOMAN.

Anonymous said...

"I urge young women to stop blindly following pop-lebrites and start writing your own lives. Become part of the solution."

Doesn't she realize if that happens, nobody will follow either her or her idiot friend on twitter and nobody would come to her "art show"?

Anonymous said...

The only people coming to her art show are her idiot friends and MCR fangirls. If she thinks any different, she needs to get a clue. I would LOVE to see her bring up the issues with MSI's music, but I'm afraid they're protected by the special privilege of being her friends, aren't they?

Anonymous said...

Of course. She seems to have no problem with Lindsey being in a band that uses slurs against women in their lyrics, yet she calls out young girls on the internet for using terms like biatch, whore, etc.?

Please. Why doesn't she call out Jimmy Urine on his lyrics? Or Frank Iero for using the c-word? Because they're men?

Fucking hypocrite.

Anonymous said...

Thing is, I agree with a lot of the things Jessicka says on her twitter. I think women should stop hating on other women and calling one another disrespectful names like 'cunt', 'bitch', 'slut', etc.

But it's hard to take her seriously when she'd besties with Lindsey. And it's damn hard to take her seriously when she's telling girls to stop following 'pop-lebrities' when she's openly benefiting from the MCR fanbase by having an art show with Lindsey.

That is why I cannot for the life of me that her seriously in any context.

Imo, I have the impression with the way she beats her chest over some issues it's purely for image. I would love to know what organizations she is actively involved with apart from the lip service she seems to always give.

"MSICR Fans, huh, Verita?" Wouldn't that include yourself?

No wonder VV hasn't had much time to post this year. She's been busy in her bunk masturbating to fanfic about Gerard fucking Frank.
lol

Was Gerard punish fucking Frank and did Frank take his punishment like a good boy? Did he VV?
lol

Anonymous said...

So, is this girl who took Verita's name not worried about all the crazed fangirls who are going to come to her lj and make death threats?

If I were her, I'd change it quick.

Anonymous said...

You're really dense 2:44. If I post under the name Lindsey Way bet you're gonna believe that I'm her.

Guess who is following MSI on twitter now?

Seems like some dumb raccoon eyed MCR fans don't mind being called cunts. It's not surprising that they're not respected as a group let alone as individuals.

Anonymous said...

Considering the fact that Verita Venom started this blog as a hostile reaction to Gerard Way marrying Lyndsey I don't think it's too far of a stretch to think she's fantasizing about him.

She was pissed because the man of her dreams married someone else. Just like most of the posters here.
Emphasis on most.

Anonymous said...

But, but but Gerard said he didn't like the covergirls and supermodel types. He said he lieked plain Jane's like me. He made me think I could get him and marry him. HE LIED OMG 9!!111!!!! Lied to ME 911!!! I thought I had a chance with him or Frank OMG They lied to me! (11!!! OMG D"ie!!

Anonymous said...

Carrying on about how jealous we all are and how the man of our dreams (LOL!) married someone does not change the irrefutable fact that he married a mediocre relatively unknown "musician" (a term used very loosely).

Anonymous said...

LOL that all we want to do!!!! Even though most of us are married with children we want a smelly idiot in a band!!!

Anonymous said...

To think these anons that constantly accuse us of being jealous are the twits that follow big feminists like Jessicka Adams and Lynz. Feminism really at work. Lol.

Anonymous said...

Didn't you know 5:43 if we have any valid criticisms about MCR or anyone connected to them it doesn't matter because we should just shut our mouths because as females don't know what we are talking about and because it's always about jealously and of not marrying someone we don't even know or want to know.

Anonymous said...

We should also allow ourselves to be tacitly bullied and be called bitches and cunts. To put us in our place.

Anonymous said...

Right MCR fans?

Considering the fact that Verita Venom started this blog as a hostile reaction to Gerard Way marrying Lyndsey I don't think it's too far of a stretch to think she's fantasizing about him.

Marrying Lindsey was one of many things Gerard did during that time period that made half the fanbase think he had lost his mind. He acted like an asshole at PR. He had just broken off an engagement with another girl less than a month before he met Lindsey (again) at PR, amidst allegations from some of Eliza's friends that he was using drugs again. MSI had a rep for using drugs and Lindsey admitted to storing alcohol bottles under her bunk on the tour bus and "drinking her breakfast". Then Gerard married her after about 5 weeks of dating.

Lots of people were concerned for Gerard at that time, including VV. We thought he was back on drugs, or in the middle of a manic episode or mental breakdown, or God knows what else.

Does that mean we wanted to fuck him or marry him? I think not.

Since then I think most of us have just come to the conclusion that Gerard wasn't who we thought he was. I, for the most part, don't post about MCR anymore because I'm past caring, although I do come here occasionally to talk to Kapunua about movies, books and such.

Even Verita was on the verge of closing the blog down at one point because she's past caring about MCR too, but people asked her to keep it open for those who weren't over them yet.

I personally would not want Gerard Way or any of those other cretins if they were the last men on earth. I feel pretty certain that Verita feels the same way.

Anonymous said...

6:04 we don't need to justify our reasons of posting here to these morons that accuse us of jealousy. It's just another form of bullying.

Anonymous said...

Gerard Way: the man of every woman's dreams.

LMFAO.

Like every woman in the world is attracted to a short, humpy, hygienically challenged 33 year old manchild who plays with rayguns and wears short shorts and has his hair dyed the color of Rihanna's.

Riiight.

What MCR fans are renowned for.

Anonymous said...

Didn't Jessicka Addams go on in her twitter about how girls idolize male rock stars yet treat other girls and women horribly?

Yet here are MCR's fangirls coming here to do just that.

Anonymous said...

Of all the frontmen to come out of the era of MCR, the one I was most attracted to was Adam Lazzara. He's tall and well-built and funny and just downright damn gorgeous.

When he got married, I wasn't the least bit jealous. So why would I be jealous over that idiot Gerard Way?

Lynn said...

They accuse us of jealousy because they know we are telling the truth about them being douchebags and how this new album sucks so hard. They want to really love this album because they waited so long for it. Deep down i think they know it's not good.

There is so much truth in what you say. If you look at the lj comms, nearly all the old (what I would have considered die-hard) fans have disappeared. A lot of them fell out with the band over Brian, others over Bob. Some left because the music just sucks.

Yeah, I'm sure there are lots of fans left, but there are more and more and more of us every day and we get under their skin bad. If we didn't, they wouldn't come here.

Hi everyone.

I've put up a post explaining the fact that I am not the other "veritavenom" and that the LJ account is likely a troll.

I halfway suspect that the "anon" who put up the link accusing me of being that account, actually WAS the person who owns that account.

I think my latest post settles that once and for all. :-) But I think it should be self-evident to all that it wouldn't be me.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and you have to admit, "Verita Venom" is a really cool name.

Thank you all and I hope you will all have a great Thanksgiving if you do celebrate it and a good holiday season.
