What do you guys think of Jay-Z's recent announcement?
Jay-Z has vowed to never use derogatory terms for women in his music again following the birth of his daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
The rapper, who welcomed his first child with wife Beyoncé last weekend, has stated in a poem to celebrate the birth of baby Blue Ivy that he will drop the use of 'b*tch' - revealing that his degradation of women in his songs "has passed."
"Before I got in the game, made a change, and got rich/ I didn't think hard about using the word b*tch/ I rapped, I flipped it, I sold it, I lived it/ Now with my daughter in this world I curse those that give it. I never realized while on the fast track that I’d give riddance to the word bitch, to leave her innocence in tact."
The hip-hop icon continued:
"No man will degrade her, or call her name. I'm so focused on your future, the degradation has passed. I wish you wealth, health and insight. Forever young you may pass. Blue Ivy Carter, my angel."
I personally think of this as a start, but only that. He still has a lot of work to do. We see this with men a lot. They have a daughter and all of a sudden they don't like to see women degraded. There are two problems I see with this immediately.
One: Didn't his wife count as a woman who shouldn't be degraded? Or wasn't she "innocent" enough? He seemed to think it was all right for "non-innocent" women to be degraded.
And OK fine, it is good that he can see it from a different perspective now that he has a daughter and maybe he will extend this feeling to all women. I hope so. I hope he can continue to learn.
But the second problem is that it is still about HIM. It took him personally experiencing the feeling of "this is too close to me now and I don't want it to happen" in order for him to change.
Or as another anonymous commenter said on this blog,
I don't understand, Why does something dramatic have to happen in someone's life before they decide "Oh, yeah I gotta stop being this way because I don't want some one to mess with mine in the future."
Men should respect women not because the disrespect upsets men, but because it oppresses women. At least that is what I believe in cases like that.
However I still want to say that it is a good start and in my own opinion, if he continues to learn more about oppression and misogyny, then maybe he will come to realize this. I have hope.
We didn't hear a word like this from Gerard Way, Lindsey Way, or Frank Iero when they had daughters. Not one of them came forward and said "I never thought about how women were treated until I had a daughter, now I think I'll stop degrading them." So also in my opinion, Jay-Z is way ahead of them. MSI and MCR are still in the dark ages.
Also, I wish all of you a happy and healthy new year and the best of luck in 2012.

«Oldest ‹Older 801 – 1000 of 1252 Newer› Newest»Okay, here's is my opinion. I think it is very important to try to develop the ability to look beyond perfection and find beauty in all forms which usually means acceptance of imperfection and change of appearance because ultimately this influences very subtlety and subconsciously, our levels of tolerance towards other things.
All these new techniques to preserve and enhance our appearances. Do they make you feel better about yourself? Most people would say yes to that question, otherwise they wouldn't seek it though sometimes it could be more about conforming without even being aware of it, because the society we live in tends to like uniformity.
And for some people once they start, they can't stop.
I think everyone wants to look the best they can, and for me, that meant having a little nip/tuck that kept me from looking so tired all the time. I don't plan on having so many facelifts my ears meet in the back; I just wanted to not look like Droopy D anymore and now I don't.
I think cosmetic surgery is perfectly acceptable for anyone, man or woman, who wants to change something about their appearance.
I'm not crazy about cosmetic surgery, it's not like you can't tell you haven't had it done.
I would find it very strange to see my mother completely line free and filled. Older people who take care of themselves and are well dressed and groomed can look good without surgery.
.

Honestly? It depends on your plastic surgeon. I had a mini-facelift and blepharoplasy (eyelid lift), and after the bruses went away (about two weeks), you couldn't tell I'd had "work done". I just looked more refreshed and less tired.
People who go all out with the fillers and mega brow lifts look ridiculous, but good plastic surgery is not supposed to work that way.
^Also, eyelid lifts are often a necessity for older people. Excess skin drooping over your eyes can impair your vision.
Hiya guys, how are you all?

LynZ's face does looks bigger. Maybe she's put on weight?
For some reason that really made me laugh. I just pictured her with a HUGE face and it quite disturbed me.
u
My mother and grandmother never suffered from excessive drooping eyelids so that my be genetic and/or weight related, as excess weight loss contributes to loose skin when you become older.
I must say this blog is much better when we there aren't constant discussions about crappy and dense people.
Droopy eyelids are very common in older people, and are genetic. Blepharoplasty is often covered by insurance (even Medicare) when it affects peripheral vision.
Do you people listen to yourselves? Ever? There is nothing wrong with the way Lyndsey looks. There is nothing wrong with the way Eliza looks. Most of you wish you looked like either one of them. What a bunch of Pseudo-Feminist hypocrites.
*rolls eyes*
They just jealouz because Eliza and Lyndsey both had the man they fantasized and dreamt about and will never have.
Srlsy. Thats what this sounds like.
Eliza is looking great. Better than ever. Don't hate her because she worked out and worked hard for the money that got her looking the way she looks.
Lyndsey is glowing. Looking happy, healthy and years younger than her age. Motherhood def agrees with her.
Both are strong women who overcame obstacles and beat the odds. Don't diss them because you don't approve of the way they did those things. Honor them because they did find a way to rise from the ashes.
Anything else can only be viewed as envy, jealously and hypocrisy.

My understanding is that as you age either one of two things happen: the volume of your face decreases and your skin appears to sink in or your face appears to sag downwards. Whatever happens is genetic and also influenced by the lifestyle you lead.
9:54 it would help if you read comments properly and stop reasoning like a juvenile.
What's your problem 9:48? Is it a hatred of any woman who can and will do what it takes to survive and thrive in this world or is it just a hatred of Lyndsey, Eliza and any woman GW has touched?
Rolling eyes is so immature. You should stop that if you wish to be taken seriously in this world.
Seriously 9:59 I have to laugh at your comment. I'm contributing my thoughts about a subject that was being generally discussed here and from what I can see apart from a couple of comments, which were not made by me, no one is talking about these people.
If rolling my eyes is immature it matched the maturity of your initial comment.
9:54 is hilarious if you ask me. If they are at all aesthetically pleasing and British they could appear on the next Britain's top model and explain how British native americans in Britain would be smart enough to remain on the down low.
Feel free to *roll eyes* about that one.
*rolls eyes*
You find a woman giving credit to other women you don't like to be immature? Funny. I find your total dismissal of any comment giving credit to either Eliza or Lyndsey Way to be completely immature. They have both done good in their own ways. What have you done other than diss them, other women you don't like and roll your eyes at comments you don't agree with?
What encouragement have you given to young girls? It's my way or the highway doesn't count. Anyone over the age of 10 knows that's bullshit.
Ciao.
Anyone over the age of 10 would laugh their asses off at a supposed adult who *rolls eyes* as a response to a discussion. They would never take them or what they have to say *rolls eyes* seriously. Who would?
*rolls eyes* is not an acceptable response to discussion. It's an immature dismissal of any opinion other than your own.
Good luck with that *rolls eyes* IRL outside of grade 4.
Aloha.
hatred of Lyndsey, Eliza and any woman GW has touched?
You are on the wrong blog. No one here thinks he's that special. And besides he's married and very happily I hope.
10:21 this is just a game to you and you're just trying to win an argument so I will still continue to dismiss you.
And I certainly don't give a damn what you think.
I like the Scottish lassie on ANTM. :) The whole "down low" comment made me LOL.
*rolls eyes* is not an acceptable response to discussion. It's an immature dismissal of any opinion other than your own.
Good luck with that *rolls eyes* IRL outside of grade 4.
Oh yeah, which world you you live in? I've seen judges in court roll their eyes at defending counsel when they argue on behalf of their clients. I've seen politicians and CEO's roll their eyes at their opponents. You don't have much life experience.
I don't consider someone who kisses ass a mature person.
*rolls eyes at 10:21*
Would not rolls eyes to anyone who disagreed with my opinions or anyone that did not behave like a presumptive, aggressive jerk-off.
I'm tired of stupid idiots coming to this blog misreading and twisting comments and then applying their bird-brained logic that everyone desires some crappy rockstar.
When all they are doing is projecting their own desires about wanting him onto us.
They just jealouz because Eliza and Lyndsey both had the man they fantasized and dreamt about and will never have
What sort of an imbecile goes around posting this sort of rot?
Most of you wish you looked like either one of them.
9:54 is hilarious if you ask me. If they are at all aesthetically pleasing and British they could appear on the next Britain's top model and explain how British native americans in Britain would be smart enough to remain on the down low
If anyone one is a hypocrite it's you. You come here, generalize and attack people for criticizing others when you do precisely the same thing that you accused others of doing. If you think the people here are psuedo-feminists, I think you are a genuine-misguided fool.

Do some reading, get around and look at people that do some real good instead of being stuck in your insular, narrow-minded rockstar world.
hatred of Lyndsey, Eliza and any woman GW has touched?
Lol if I had a choice I would want Ewan McGregor to touch me.
Who wants GW to touch them? Not any sane person on this blog.
I work for an eye surgeon, and blepharolplasty is a common surgery among the 65+ set. It's mostly caused by deep set eyes and a small area between the eyebrow and eye. Lifestyle and weight might speed up the sagginess in those who are prone to it, but if you are going to get those saggy eyelids, you're going to get them. It's just a matter of time.
I personally have very prominent eyes and a large space between my brow and eye, am in my late 40's and will probably never need the surgery. My grandmother did need it, but she had small, deep-set eyes. My daughter who is 21 will probably need it by the time she is in her mid to late 60's because she inherited my grandmother's eyes. Incidentally, my grandmother was never overweight, and she led an exemplary lifestyle.
They just jealouz because Eliza and Lyndsey both had the man they fantasized and dreamt about and will never have
I find this comment to be rather offensive. I used to comment here regularly, and I have never once dissed either Lindsey's or Eliza's appearance.
I think both Eliza and Lindsey are attractive, but for me, the problem with both these women is that I can't see past their stupidity.
I think Gerard treated Eliza horribly, but I also think she did some bad things to fans while they were together, but I don't "hate" her, and I'm certainly not jealous of her. I wish her well and hope she has found happiness.
As for Lindsey, I don't know what she sees in Gerard, and vice versa. I think they are two peas in the Stupid Pod, and that they probably deserve one another.
I am attracted to intelligent, thoughtful men, and I wouldn't dream of letting Gerard Way "touch" me. I can't imagine any self-respecting woman would.
I find your total dismissal of any comment giving credit to either Eliza or Lyndsey Way to be completely immature. They have both done good in their own ways.
I find this comment to be completely baseless. As far as I can see, neither one of these women have done any good for anyone but themselves.
What encouragement have you given to young girls?
You know nothing about the people on this blog. For one thing, I have raised a very strong, intelligent, independent minded daughter. I am very active in my community to try and empower young women. I speak out when I see injustice and misogyny. I give to planned parenthood and to political candidates who support women. I bug the hell out of my congressmen over women's issues. I sign petitions. I vote. I daresay a lot of the women who post here do similar things.
So get off your high horse and stop ASSuming that people who dislike Lindsey and Eliza for their actions are "jealous". It makes you look like a tool.
[BTW, what do you do to empower women? Other than defend the likes of Lindsey Way?]
Eliza and Lindsey have both behaved like extremely racist idiots and been caught doing it on tape/camera. They are certainly nothing to envy, and they're nothing 'inspiring', either.
I think our "jus jellus" anon is one of those people who bought into LynZ's "I am a feminist" b.s.
I am attracted to intelligent, thoughtful men, and I wouldn't dream of letting Gerard Way "touch" me. I can't imagine any self-respecting woman would
Same here. I am not attracted to people that are so up themselves, egotistical and vain. It's a complete turn-off.
I think both Eliza and Lindsey are attractive, but for me, the problem with both these women is that I can't see past their stupidity.
I think they are attractive but I also think all women are attractive in their own way. However I don't think that was the point: that misguided anon appears to have their very own halo effect, that is a certain bias towards people they deem attractive and attribute certain personality characteristics to them while making assumptions about the appearance of the bloggers here and assuming certain things about our characters through this assumption.

wtf is wrong with her face, it's all bloated and smooth. Looks like a mask or something. Disgusting.
MSI are proving you can very much have a long career and keep your fanbase by doing the same old shit every single album/show. Dunno why Gerard & co think they're so special they couldn't do the same, considering *their* old style was actually good and all.
Okay, while Lindsey does look a little different in that picture, I wouldn't say she looks "bloated and disgusting". She does look a bit puffy though. Maybe she just gained weight? It does look like fillers, but idk, I'd have to see more pictures to be sure.
GWay has had some plastic surgery, so it wouldn't surprise me if Lindsey did as well.
Her face does look very lumpy and not at all like what her normal face looks like. That photo reminds me of the bride of Wildenstein.
As for MSI, she's back performing her kiddie-rape songs wearing a $500 waistcoat that the hubby paid for. That is nothing to be 'proud' of for a so-called feminist.
She doesn't look any different to me in that picture. She doesn't even look "puffy". What a lot of mud slinging over nothing.
GWay has had some plastic surgery
Seriously?
It doesn't matter, but people are still able to discuss it here.
And the fact remains that fillers, $500 waistcoats or hair extensions do not make Lindsey any less of a nasty racist and misogynist idiot.
Lindsey looks lovely in that picture. She doesn't look like Lindsey, but she looks fine.
Maybe it's the lighting. Maybe it's because she's not wearing her usual shit ton of makeup. Maybe she had fillers. Who gives a fuck?
Women who can afford it have plastic surgery and wear expensive clothes. Sheesh. Get over it. I don't care what she wears or what she does to her face.
What I do care about is that both she and her idiot husband are scum. The end.
they probably deserve one another
They are so perfectly suited to each other. I don't think he would have been happy with anyone other than Lindsey.
I wish her well and hope she has found happiness
I hope so too.
wearing a $500 waistcoat that the hubby paid for
I suppose when you're madly in love with your wife you want to give them everything.
With everything going on in the political realm (here is the US) concerning women's rights to make decisions regarding our own bodies, it seems a bit silly to me to be thinking about how Gerard and Lindsey choose to spend their money. As for Lindsey's face: it's her face and she can do as she damn well pleases with it. Same goes for her uterus.
I think we should all be trying to support one another and educate each other. Perhaps someone might tween Lindsey and Jessicka about the current events going on that will effect our lives as women. Maybe that will shake some actual real feminism into them.
Women in America need to band together right now and show the politicians that they can't make decisions about our bodies. Only we have the right to do that.
*tweet not tween. :/

Besides Jessicka' friendship with Lyn-Z, all she tweets about is femists issues and is very supportive of young female fans on twitter. I really don't understand why she is even mentioned here.
As far a Lyn-Z's looks, to even bring them up here is very hypocritical. If you don't like her poltics or what she stands for, fine. Bringing up her looks is irrelvant .
I really don't understand why she is even mentioned here.
Because she's a fucking hypocrite who supports a racist rape-song performing idiot.
"wearing a $500 waistcoat that the hubby paid for.
"
Bitter much? Can't get your hubby or mum to spend that much on you?
I guess Lynz's just worth more to the man that loves her than the rest of you are worth to the people who say that they love you. Either way she trumps you and proves herself to be a better investment for the future. Must suck to be the rest of you if people in your life won't invest a measly $500 in you. Sad.
That's a bit cheap for a rockstar. Next time he'll probably be more generous to his beautiful wife.
Well I guess we have people who love us for who we are, not for how much high-priced junk they can dress us up in to hide the fact that we're racist rape-promoters.
Why would I be bitter? I'm not puffy-faced and tired, doing backbends while miming my bass along to songs about raping five year old kids.
Oh, and I don't have the thought of going home to a fat bastard who thinks hitting women is 'lolzy', either. So that just makes me smart, sensible, and not desperate, doesn't it?
If you'd left out "fat bastard", your comment would have been perfectly mature.
And, also right.
no wonder they dropped the panty short song from their set now they bring their own kids up on stage
They are so perfectly suited to each other. I don't think he would have been happy with anyone other than Lindsey
This! He's so lucky he met her, again.
I've just seen a brilliant piece about feminism. I thought it would interest you guys.
"I don't care if some people think feminism is a dirty word..." - Twitter tales of sexism.
And from that link:
A thousand reasons why feminism is still relevant and necessary
Must suck to be the rest of you if people in your life won't invest a measly $500 in you. Sad.
Instead of a coat, he should have invested in some bass lessons or vocal lessons for himself.
You have to wonder how anyone can view someone as an "investment". Gives you an idea of how they think.
6.01, thanks for posting those feminism links. It is crazy to think some young females say they aren't feminists because they have some wayward view of feminists. They perhaps assume all feminists have hairy armpits or whatever (nothing wrong with that, it is a woman's choice), but they honestly don't realise that without feminists fighting for rights for decades, they would still be having to ask their father or husband for permission for any financial decisions. They need to wake up to the fact that their lives are better now because of what feminists in the past fought for. They need to be aware how bad it was, and also how much of a battle is left to fight. Those tweets were very eye opening. You don't have to be a man hater to be a feminist, I hate these kind of attitudes, and some young girls are so ignorant. It's time for them to do some research, and the link you linked is a great start.
Lynz
what is wrong with this blogger?
they would still be having to ask their father or husband for permission for any financial decisions.
Your privilege is showing. Do you seriously not know that there are still more countries where that happens than there are countries where it doesn't?
If you are female and lucky enough to live in the UK, most of Europe or the USA than you are privileged. You are one of the lucky ones.
Don't believe that? Try going to Russia and walking unaccompanied by male guards on the streets of St. Petersburg. Try going to the Middle East and doing the same with your face not covered in required Muslim religious attire. Try going to China, Africa or India and telling the gov'ts that your female newborn is worth just as much as a male newborn.
You feminists are still fighting battles that were won a long time ago. By Antoine Condorcet, Olympe de Gouges, Lydia Chapin Taft, Susan Brownell Anthony, Millicent Fawcett, Bessie Braddock, and their ilk.
How can any true progress in the feminist movement truly be made until there is a Global Standard where all the female populations of the world are allowed a voice in their governments and lives. The right to walk alone in public without fear of being mocked, kidnapped, raped or killed. The right to speak in public and be heard. The right of respect.
I could swear some of you VV feminists live in a fucking mini snow globe that can be bought at the local dime store for $1.
900!
I hate these kind of attitudes, and some young girls are so ignorant. It's time for them to do some research,
So do I. I suggest you do your research before condemning anyone else and their ignorance.
What good are you doing by criticising the women here, 8:15 &8:19? The person commenting was talking about the girls making anti-feminist comments. If women and girls who take their privilege for granted don't make an effort to educate themselves, then how do you think a "Global Standard" is going to come about?
BTW, how exactly do you propose that a "global standard" be enforced? You have to deal with these issues one culture at a time, and your ranting really is not doing anyone any good.
It's not about feminism. That person just doesn't like the people on this blog.
Mitt Romney is not vowing to "get rid of Planned Parenthood" should he become President of the United States.
I think women in the U.S. need to stop being complacent about their rights and freedoms, because there are a lot of old, white men who want to take them away.
*now vowing
!
!!!!
Enforcement Therein lies the problem.
The old it's my way or the highway. The sorry and tired you accept my definition of feminism or you aren't a real feminist. The tearing and ripping apart of the Jessicka Addams' of this world just because they don't or won't do things exactly as you would.
Old white men aren't the real problem. They certainly can't be the problem in China, Africa, India, Iran, Afganistan and so on.
Old women set in their ways like 9:01 are.
Women without vision. Globally, regionally, and culturally ignorant women.
10:42, you can't blame people being raised ignorant, for being ignorant. Awareness is taught. Hopefully experienced and shared. It can't come from nowhere. Your comment is crap. You're a troll.
Women like 9:01 are not the current or future feminists of the world. They're not even the past feminists. Blaming one race. Blaming one gender.
Women like 9:01 are nothing more than enablers. Not strong enough to stand up and take accountability for their own lack of action in the past. Weak and sad enough to blame the old white male for all of their failings.
I am privileged enough to say that I do not personally know one woman, of any race, who would blame the entire gender of another race for their failings. I am privileged and pleasured to know only strong women who take full responsiblility for their own lives. Successes and failures.
Women who are grateful for having been born a UK, European or US citizen. Women who recognize the luck of their birthright privilege.
10:54 you are the truly ignorant. Refusing to recognize your own cultural and regional ignorance. There is no excuse for that these days. None.
Do you even have a clue as to what goes on in
China, India, Africa, North Vietnam, Mexico? Do you have a clue as to which USA presidential candidate will do anything to stop any of it? Or are you just a pawn of one of the major political parties? Have you been force feed the political waste of either of the major parties for so long that you can't even take a piss by yourself anymore?
Guess what? The Republicans are no more evil than the Democrats. The Democrats are no more the saviours of the world than the Republicans. Liberal does not trump Conservative. A Conservative full house does not beat a Liberal court in waiting.
It's not a party that will change the world. It's an individual. All individuals of every party. The sooner you recognize that fact and stop putting down people who aren't just like you. Be it race color, religion, heritage, creed, sex or party
the sooner we can all do our part in saving ourselves and winning the race. One race. The human race.
Time is running out. Stop pointing fingers. Start looking the mirror.
Don't delude yourself 10:55 & 11:14 I have read you enough times to see your own brand of finger pointing. I suggest you take a good look at your own hypocrisy and your own brand of ideological gobbledegook.
Women without vision. Globally, regionally, and culturally ignorant women.
Reads exactly like the "woman" of 10:42.
Thank you very much for those links, anon!
We can only do what we can do. We can't change the attitudes of people in other countries/cultures. We can only change our own attitudes and educate our children, both sons and daughters, and fight for our own rights. We can set examples.
Change starts at home, which is why those of us living in the US are talking about what's going on in the US.
Anon @ 8:11, 8:14, 10:36, 10:42, 10:55 and 11:14 is just using her same old distracting techniques. She doesn't like the people on this blog, so she makes stupid arguments that don't really mean anything.
Nobody is disputing that women in many other countries/cultures have it much worse than those of us living in the US. But that's no reason to let old, white, ultra-privileged men take away the freedoms we do have.
Should we idly sit back while legislators are pushing bills that make women get transvaginal ultrasounds before abortion? Should we not object when Rick Santorum says that prenatal testing should be discontinued? Should we not raise a stink when all of the Republican candidates for President want to end Planned Parenthood? And how about the law being pushed by the GOP in Wisconsin that states that single parenthood is a significant contributing factor to child abuse? Of course not.
The fact that you are so sure and smug that this type of legislation doesn't affect you, Ms. Troll, shows me that you are the one whose "privilege" is showing.
I think 10:55/11:14 would have us all be grateful and happy that we don't get raped and beaten on a regular basis. The right to control our own reproductive health choices? Pfft! How can we be upset over that? What a first world problem, when other women don't have any rights at all.
Like most conservative rhetoric, it's all just a bait and switch, designed to make us sit down and shut the fuck up. But while we're spending all that time "looking in the mirror" and not taking action, we just might find the rights we used to take for granted have gone up in a puff of conservative smoke.
What it boils down to is that men such as Rick Santorum, Darrell Issa, Glenn Grothman, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and now Mitt Romney want to compromise women's healthcare here in the US. They want to tell us what we can and cannot do with our bodies, which would set us back considerably. If we allow that to happen, what's next?
Our political system is far from perfect. I do agree that there is corruption and greed on both sides. But I also know which side is leading the charge to take away women's choices, and I will do everything in my power to fight them. I encourage others to do the same.
Old white men aren't the real problem. They certainly can't be the problem in China, Africa, India, Iran, Afganistan and so on.
Old women set in their ways like 9:01 are.
Women without vision. Globally, regionally, and culturally ignorant women.
Are you for real? You're actually going to blame women's oppression in those countries on women? What rock did you crawl out from under?
I suppose women are raped, beaten and treated like property by other women?
9:30 you just want to continue to have as many sexual parnters as you want, have enough babies to be supported by your monthly welfare checks, food stamps, and rent subsidies, and abort the rest. That is your idea of "Women's Rights."
Your b.s. is getting old, 10:35. So much for all your concern about women in other cultures. I knew that was a smokescreen.
10:35 you have one of the most closed minds I have seen for a while, the generalizations you make are quite astounding! I have a question for you, what of the fathers that impregnate these women, aren't they responsible for their children? Should they not financially support their children and take the burden off the tax payer?
I don't understand what is happening in your country. Where are all the females in your judiciary and congress? Where are their voices, why aren't they screaming about this?
k
The religious right is trying to take over this country, 2:04. They think that women are second class citizens who should respect their husband's authority. To them, we're here to make children and be a "helpmeet" to our husbands. I live in the Bible Belt, and I see this all the time. Women I work with tell me that the church says their husbands are the "head of the wife" and she has to submit to him. These people want to go back to the way it was in the 1950s. They don't like birth control, divorce, or women who "mouth off".
The women in Congress are fighting back, but you'll find there are a lot of conservative women who think women are second class citizens, and they accept this because their churches believe it. Maybe they think that converting the whole world to Christianity will stop abuse of women, because the bible tells men to "love their wives as Christ loved the church". Yeah. How has that worked out for the past 2000 years?
I am standing up for my rights by donating to Planned Parenthood and to campaigns that are fighting laws like the transvaginal ultrasound, single parent as abuse, and personhood at conception laws. I can't do a lot in my state, given the fact that I live in a very conservative, religious area, but I'm still fighting. This is one of the reasons why I don't believe in letting the "states decide" when it comes to abortion and birth control. Rick Santorum won my state, so you can imagine what kinds of restrictions my state legislature would put on a woman's right to choose.

Jessicka is the one who is still friends with and promoting a racist, isn't she?
This blog is rather hopeless. Does anyone care about Gerard or Lindsey anymore? Really?
I thought maybe people here wanted to actually discuss the issues affecting women in the U.S. today, but only one or two people even seem to be aware of what's going on. Guess I'll stick to real feminist blogs.

I do agree that Gerard and Lindsey have become pretty irrelevant. It's too bad that Gerard and the rest of MCR turned out to be such tools. I really thought they were good guys at one time. But it doesn't really matter to me all that much anymore. They've been off my radar for a while. I come here out of habit, and lately the place has been dead, although it has opened my eyes to a lot of things that I need to be aware of. Thanks guys.
Most people who post here don't have a clue about what's going on in the real world, or what's happening to Women's Rights in the America or anywhere else. This is only a place where broken hearted girls came to bitch about the wife of the man they wanted.
Hypocrites, nearly every one.
At least LynZ had the nerve to stand up and say "I'm a feminist". You might not agree with everything she has done and said, but she isn't afraid, and her feminsim isn't just tied to feeling spurned by the rock star she had a crush on.
*Opens card and reads* the biggest hypocrite/ass kissing award goes to...4:35!
Most people who post here don't have a clue about what's going on in the real world, or what's happening to Women's Rights in the America or anywhere else
4:35 sure doesn't.
I am a feminist
I am a feminist
I am a feminist
I'm one because I had the nerve to stand up and say it, so that makes me one because all you have to do is say it and you instantly become one according to 4:35.
Did you know that everyone on this blog, single, married, straight or not has a wild crush on their favorite rockstar. 4:35 said so.

Who talks about them anymore? As someone said earlier they are irrelevant, nobody here is interested. Seeing that you're the only one that constantly brings them up I think you're the one that has the crush, and I'm starting to think it's more like an obsession.
I think our "jus jellus" anon is one of those people who bought into LynZ's "I am a feminist" b.s.

It's not about feminism. That person just doesn't like the people on this blog.

Better to have your eyes wide open than shut.
I think they're a true feminist who thinks that male politicians and rockstaws should all stay the fuck out of women's wombs. Stop using ZOMG they will reverse Roe vs Wade as a scare tactic. No one with more than two functioning brain cells to rub together believes that. Roe vs Wade is not going to be overturned. It's all propaganda. If you believe it than you are more ignorant than you want people to believe Lynz is. Every feminists org out there wants the political posturing of the both sides mainly the left to stop. Real women don't think that their reproductive organs have any place in politics. They want all of you to shut the fuck up and stay out of their bedrooms and their wombs. All of you.
It's no surprise that Terry O'Neill, of the National Organization of Women, wants politicians to "get out and stay out of women's wombs," but she should retire her incendiary anatomical language, too. It's just not what voters care about. Exit polls in the primaries suggest that Republican women tune out when male candidates start yapping about uteruses and cervices. As Kate Phillips and Allison Kopicki put it Tuesday in the New York Times, "All of the talk about birth control and abortion laws seems to have had little effect on the ways women are voting for the two leading Republican candidates, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum."
New idea: no more examining-table politics—not transvaginal, transtesticular, or any other kind. Four years ago, with the exception of a brief discussion of Sarah Palin's reproductive decisions, the campaigns steered clear of fake-clinical gibberish. Perhaps we're less eager to talk gynecological smack when there are real women around.
It's creepy.
Really, the zeal with which male politicians of all stripes make politics sexual is disconcerting. Last week Barack Obama placed a personal call to console Sandra Fluke, asking the law student and advocate of birth-control subsidies if she were "OK" in the days since Rush Limbaugh incoherently deemed her platform akin to sexual promiscuity. Limbaugh had likened Fluke to people who are paid for sex, and likened taxpayers to her pimps, or some bunk like that; Obama aimed to redeem a 30-year-old woman by comparing her to his daughters, ages 10 and 13, who evidently need his protection from bad men who use bad words.
Stop using ZOMG they will reverse Roe vs Wade as a scare tactic. No one with more than two functioning brain cells to rub together believes that. Roe vs Wade is not going to be overturned. It's all propaganda.
You aren't keeping up with all the proposed legislation in the various Red States right now, are you? If you were, you wouldn't be so complacent.
Regardless of whether or not Roe v. Wade stands, some states will make it harder and harder to get abortions, forcing many to go out of state for the procedure. This will increase the cost, making an already difficult situation even more so. Plus, the defunding of Planned Parenthood will result in many women not getting other valuable health services, such as pap smears, mammograms, pre-natal care, etc.
It's not all about Roe v. Wade, and if you think it is, you are rather ignorant.
Obama aimed to redeem a 30-year-old woman by comparing her to his daughters, ages 10 and 13, who evidently need his protection from bad men who use bad words.
In someone's opinion. I'm sure they didn't know what was in the President's head at the time, and neither did you.
I thought his call was appropriate, given the situation. I don't think he was pandering nor condescending to her. I'm sure that he would not want anyone saying those things about his daughters or his wife or even his mother, no matter their ages. Age is really irrelevant here.
I would not want someone attacking my son on the basis of his gender either. It's not just a "woman thing". It's a "human being thing".
Exit polls in the primaries suggest that Republican women tune out when male candidates start yapping about uteruses and cervices.
Then why are so many candidates yapping about it?
Also, the key word here is "Republican". Republicans can't win the election with registered Republicans alone. They need swing voters and Independents. Polling Republican women who are showing up to vote at Republican primaries is not a very effective way of taking the general population's pulse on anything.
Has Lindsey finished her pedoband tour yet? Has Jessicka ' I hate misogyny as long as it's not my friends displaying it' Addams been to see her shows?
Does anyone really care?
Georgia Rep wants to force women in Georgia to carry stillborn fetuses like cows do.
Never mind that this can seriously endanger a woman's life. But hey, this guy isn't overturning Roe v. Wade, so it's all good, right? Or, you know. NOT.
No one in their right mind would take that seriously. Only people completely out of touch with reality would take that as a serious threat. The same people who wear tin foil on their heads to block out alien transmissions. lulz
All these bullshit fear tactics are so 2000 and late.
You don't live anywhere near the South, do you 11:53?
No one in their right mind would take that seriously.
Are you debating that this man is an elected representative of the state of Georgia, and that the legislature is considering this bill? Otherwise, how could you not take it seriously?
She's still on tour, and yes, Jessicka will be at the LA show. Singing along to Panty Shot, no doubt.
These kinds of laws never get passed. They just get a lot of media attention from liberals who shout "SEE HOW CRAZY THESE REPUBLICANS ARE!!!!!"
Fear tactics. Nothing more.
These kinds of laws never get passed. They just get a lot of media attention from liberals who shout "SEE HOW CRAZY THESE REPUBLICANS ARE!!!!!"
Fear tactics. Nothing more.
Okay, let me get this straight. Right wing pro-lifer state representatives initiate legislation as part of a conspiracy by evil liberals so said liberals can cry foul and incite fear?
So, these elected Republican officials are really just closet liberals who are part of this great conspiracy?
Um... what was it you were saying about tin hats?
The very fact that an elected official in a 'civilised country' is comparing women to beasts of burden on his House Floor is certainly reason enough to inspire fear. No tactics needed.
America, have you gone mad?
?
People in Georgia elected this guy, I say they get what they deserve. Aren't they all just a bunch of inbreds anyway?

You are troll and an idiot. Why not go read Jessicka's twitter if you give such a shit. I see nothing wrong with Jessicka Addams what so ever.
Lyn-z is a different story .
This is so dumb. All of it.
I'm not American but I feel that many Americans feel very disconnected to the society that they live in. I think that's partially contributing to the wave of conservatism in your country. And if you look closely at other Westernized countries the same thing is happening there.
SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Reuters) - The Obama Administration on Thursday said it would begin shutting down a program that provides health care for more than 100,000 low-income women in Texas because the state will not allow funding for clinics that provide abortion services.
The move follows an announcement last week by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that the federal government would withdraw funding for Texas' "Women's Health Program" after state lawmakers last year enacted the abortion funding prohibition.
"Because the state is implementing a restriction in the freedom of choice of providers in their Women's Health Program that is not permitted under federal law, we have no choice but to not renew their program," said Cindy Mann, the director of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a federal agency that administers the government-run healthcare programs for the elderly and poor.
"We both agree that this has been a very valuable program for women in Texas, and we very much regret taking this step," Mann said.
Texas is the first state to have its Medicaid Family Planning Demonstration Program canceled by the federal government. The program provides basic medical services, including breast and cervical cancer screening, and birth control, for 130,000 of the state's poorest women,
The conflict began when the Texas Legislature inserted a 'poison pill' into the Medicaid funding bill passed in 2011, which mandates that no funding under the program go to any facility that provides abortion services, even if no state money directly paid for abortions.
If the federal government did not agree to the waiver, the language requires that the program be discontinued.
Mann said that was unacceptable.
"The language would restrict women's ability to choose which provider they see for critical services, because that provider offers other services which are not part of the program, nor even paid for by the program," Mann said.
Texas Governor Rick Perry, a Republican, decried the move.
"It is the height of political posturing for the Obama Administration to put the interests of abortion providers and their affiliates, like Planned Parenthood, over the well-being of more than 100,000 low-income Texas women," Perry said in a statement Thursday.
"I will not stand by and let this administration abandon these Texas women to advance its political agenda," Perry said. "Texas will fund these services with or without the federal government."
The federal government pays about 90 percent of the cost of the program.
Mann said the administration will begin a two-stage process of winding down federal participation in the Texas program over nine months, to "minimize any disruption in coverage for women enrolled in the program."
The program provides basic medical services, including breast and cervical cancer screening, and birth control, for 130,000 of the state's poorest women,
So because they also perform abortions, they are not going to help low income women with any type of help at all. America the free my ass.
It was only an illusion, much like most things are.
According to Medicaid law, Mann said, a state cannot restrict women's ability to choose a provider simply because that provider offers separate services -- in this case, abortion -- that aren’t even paid for by the Medicaid program.
Perry wrote a letter to President Obama earlier this month accusing his administration of "mandating which health providers the state of Texas must use" in order to "continue to support abortion providers like Planned Parenthood." He vowed to continue the Women's Health Program in Texas without Planned Parenthood and without federal money, although he has yet to outline how his state will come up with money.
But an HHS spokesperson told reporters on Thursday that this was not Obama's decision and that the administration's hands are tied on the issue. “Medicaid law is very clear; a state may not restrict patients’ choice of providers of services like mammograms and other cancer screenings, if those providers are qualified to deliver care covered by Medicaid. Patients, not state government officials, should be able to choose the doctors and other health care providers that are best for them and their families. In 2005, Texas requested this same authority to restrict patients’ choices, and the Bush Administration did not grant it to them either.”

So in other words, since they can't overturn Roe v. Wade, many states in the US are just making it nearly impossible for women who live there to get abortions?
What good does Roe v. Wade do then?
What good does Roe v. Wade do then?
Not a whole lot, especially if you live in a state like Mississippi.
Supporters of a bill that has passed in the Mississippi House and gone to the Senate say it would effectively ban abortion after six weeks of pregnancy.
A key provision would require doctors to search for a fetal heartbeat before performing an abortion and, if a heartbeat is found, would make going ahead with the procedure illegal. Physicians say a heartbeat can typically be detected at five to six weeks of pregnancy, with the possibility of hearing it earlier if the doctor uses a medically invasive transvaginal ultrasound.
The bill, which passed the House on Wednesday, is among several supported by anti-abortion groups in the 2012 session. A similar bill failed to pass the Senate.
House Judiciary B Committee Chairman Andy Gipson, R-Braxton, says the bill would ban 90 percent of the abortions in the state because most women seek abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detectable.
Many women don't even discover they're pregnant until after 6 weeks. :/
People in Georgia elected this guy, I say they get what they deserve. Aren't they all just a bunch of inbreds anyway?
Is that what you want, a form of rights apartheid based on where you live in your country?
All of you should be very concerned about what's happening in your so-called "red" states. These women are human beings and deserve the same basic rights as everyone else. People should speak up on their behalf.
If the conservatives can impose these limitations, what's next?
Could they challenge a women's right to economic autonomy? Or challenge a women's right to work if she is married or has children? Think about it.
2:46, I think Jessicka is the 'idiot'. She's the one who throws around transphobic slurs like her friends throw around racist and sexist ones. She's the one with the best friends who mock rape, child abuse, threaten to use violence against women, and make racist jokes about thousands of dead Japanese people. She's the one who claims none of this matters, and that it's not doing harm when thousands of people read it and then defend it because they 'love' Gerard. She's the one who's going to see MSI live. She's the one who doesn't seem to care that her best friend performs songs making light of rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse of five year old girls.
As far as I can see that woman has one heck of a problem with her clique. Any person seriously concerned with women's rights would run a mile. Anyone who's friends with a man who gets other girls to troll and threaten violence against women needs to stay as far away from that man as possible, don't you think? Why does she continue to defend and enable him by being friends with him and his racist wife?
MSI also made frequent jokes about Whitney's death on tour. They made jokes about her corpse, her being a crackhead etc. Making fun of a DEAD black woman and having the majority crowd of idiot white teenagers cheer you? They must have been in absolute racist heaven.
I will never understand how anyone would find that entertaining 1:36.
I wouldn't, either. But it seems Lindsey and her gross band of friends think it's fun to mock a dead black woman who had more talent and success than they'll ever experience. Whitney was also the victim of domestic abuse, which was arguably one of the causes behind her death if you look at the addiction she had once Bobby had emotionally manipulated her into a drug addict. So they also like to poke fun and someone who was a victim of that. Gross, vile people. And Jessicka supports this shit, that's the kicker.
They probably wouldn't find it so funny if someone they cared about drowned in a bath tub and some hack band made a joke about it on tour. Imagine if that happened to Gerard while he was high and someone mocked his death like that? MCRSI would be getting their twitter army to send that band death threats. But when MSI do it, it's fine because 'it's just ~~edgy satirical art and done to expose hypocricy!'
They did what? That's fucking gross.
I really don't know what Jessicka sees in these people, I really don't. Why would you want to call such trash your friends?
If the conservatives can impose these limitations, what's next?
Could they challenge a women's right to economic autonomy? Or challenge a women's right to work if she is married or has children? Think about it.
I don't think that's far-fetched at all. Rick Santorum has spoken much about how women have been "lied to" by "radical feminists" and that they aren't going to find "fulfillment" in the work place. So, according to him, women are only fulfilled when they are being at home moms.
People can say, "Oh, but that doesn't mean these conservatives will try to make their personal beliefs into laws," but look at some of the laws being proposed (and even passed) at the state level. For example, the law being proposed by Glenn Grothman from Wisconsin:
Section 1. 48.982 (2) (g) 2. of the statutes is amended to read: 48.982 (2) (g) 2. Promote statewide educational and public awareness campaigns and materials for the purpose of developing public awareness of the problems of child abuse and neglect. In promoting those campaigns and materials, the board shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.
If single parenthood is termed abusive and neglectful, then what is going to stop social services from taking children away from divorced moms and giving them to re-married fathers who have a non-working wife? Of course, forget about same sex couples who can't get married in that state. They're totally screwed.
This is only the tip of the iceberg. It's totally idiotic for a female -- any female -- to sit back and say, "Oh, but they'll never overturn Roe v. Wade, so I'm not going to worry my pretty little head about it."
That's disgusting about MSI mocking Witney's death. How shameful.
really?
They did what? That's fucking gross.
I really don't know what Jessicka sees in these people, I really don't. Why would you want to call such trash your friends?
March 18, 2012 9:04 AM
I don't know. Jessicka clearly has other friends. I don't think the Ways are really her true circle. She shares an art space with Lyn-z but I doubt she condones everything else you are suggesting. I just read her twitter page and it's very positive. Don't you think there are much bigger hypocrites for us to discuss.
BTW Ladyboy is NOT a transphobic slur.
Kathoey= ladyboy American equivalent for that term.
it is even the name of a well respected indie film. READ!
Ladyboys is a 1992 documentary film about the struggle of two teenage kathoey, or Thai male-to-female transgender persons, to leave the rural countryside and become famous transvestite performers in the glamorous cabarets of Pattaya. The film was produced by Jeremy Marre. It was made by Harcourt TV for Channel 4. The documentary opened at the San Francisco Film Festival.
Kathoey or katoey (Thai: กะเทย; RTGS: Kathoei;[kàtʰɤːj]) is a Thai term that refers to a transgender person or an effeminate gay male in Thailand. While a significant number of Thais perceive kathoeys as belonging to a third gender, including many kathoeys themselves, others see them as either a kind of man or a kind of woman.[1] Related phrases include sao (or phuying) praphet song (Thai: สาวประเภทสอง,"a second kind of woman"), or phet thi sam (Thai: เพศที่สาม, "third gender"). The word kathoey is thought to be of Khmer origin[2] (the equivalent Khmer word is "kteuy").THIS! It is most often rendered as ladyboy in English conversation with Thais and this latter expression has become popular across South East Asia.
A new bill moving through the Tennessee House of Representatives would require the state to publish the names of each doctor who performs an abortion and detailed statistics about the woman having the procedure, which opponents worry will spur anti-abortion violence in the state.
The Life Defense Act of 2012, sponsored by state Rep. Matthew Hill (R-Jonesborough), mandates that the Tennessee Department of Health make detailed demographic information about every woman who has an abortion available to the public, including her age, race, county, marital status, education level, number of children, the location of the procedure and how many times she has been pregnant. Each report would also have to include the name of the doctor who performed the procedure.
Why don't they just use a Scarlet Letter?
Unless you are one, it's always considered in bad taste to use such a slur. MCR took criticism for using it, so should Jessicka.
I don't think the Ways are really her true circle.
She spent New Years with her and always goes on about how alike they are, how great a person Lindsey is. Wake up. They are close and Jessicka excuses her behaviour.
Why don't they just use a Scarlet Letter?
Or paint a target on the abortion doctors' backs in a state where probably everybody owns a rifle. How frightening.

There is nothing wrong with Jessicka being friends with the Ways. Their is nothing hypocritical about it. Point to one example. Just one where either Gerard or Lyndsey has proven themself to be a racist in the real world. I've seen more racism, sexism and elitism from the regulars here than I have from any member of MCR, MSI or Jack off Jill.
That rifle comment is just one of thousands of elitists and self superior comments that have been posted here.
What makes you think that your views on your reproductive rights to procreate or not are any more worthy than the constitutional right to bear arms to protect what you procreate?
Don't bother answering. I know the answer. You think you know it all. You think your views and beliefs are so much better than the mountain people of Tennessee. Than the farmers of the bible belt.
You think that you are worth more than them. That you are so much more intelligent than those who were not privileged enough to go to private schools and universities.
Guess what? Every time you put down those rifle carrying, gun toting, bible quoting people you are probably putting down a person who lives in poverty. In filth and conditions you could not ever imagine the your worst nightmares of your privileged, protected life.
This isn't a party issue. This isn't a liberal or conservative issue. Both parties, both sides of the spectrum have fucked those people over. They are the forgotten ones. Be it in the UK or the USA.
Get over yourself and your prejudices. Stop spreading bullshit propaganda that will never see the light of day and help those who need help. Damn. You people need to wake the fuck up and stop pointing fingers at the other side. It's not the other guy's fault. It's your fault. Do something about it.

Do you know these people in the "real" world? Do you know the people that post here in the "real world" apart from your interpretation of their comments? No. What's very transparent is your dislike of the people that post here because they dislike the behavior of the people you idolize.
it's always considered in bad taste to use such a slur
O'really? How many of you will cop to and apologize for using redneck slurs? Religious slurs?
Why should Jessicka apologize if you won't?
Only rednecks are allowed to make redneck jokes. Only Christians are allowed to made Zombie jokes about the resurrection of their lord and saviour.
Just like only African American rappers and comedians are allowed to use the disgusting N word. Just like Jewish comedians are the only ones allowed to make Jewish jokes.
Anything else is considered to be in bad taste. Don't get it? Don't see the semblance? Don't see how it is all hurtful hate speech, prejudice and bigotry?
You are a truly hypocrite and a dumbass.
So Sorry 4:22. I don't idolize any of them any more than I idolize any of you.
I suggest you get over your hero worship and stop taking up for your very flawed heros here.
Don't bother answering. I know the answer. You think you know it all. You think your views and beliefs are so much better than the mountain people of Tennessee. Than the farmers of the bible belt.
Take your head out of your ass and look at your own prejudices. You are generalizing and grouping a couple of comments made a few as the general consensus here. A smart person, university educated or not, would know that. You have a lot to learn before you start your sermons here.
Don't judge another until you've walked a mile in his shoes
^or her shoes
4:26 deny all you like, they're not heroes by any stretch of the imagination.
Exactly 4:28 what would you know about the people here? Stop judging.
Neither or you, VV or those you worship 4:30. Not by any stretch of the imagination no matter how much you insist they are.
None are any better than those you accuse me of seeing as heros. Believe in your own fallacy if you will. Your fallacies don't change the truth.
That's your truth, not mine 4:35.
You're not that dumb 4:32. I refuse to accuse you of being as unintelligent as the people here have often accused Lyndsey of being.
Walk a mile in Lyndey's shoes. Walk a mile in Jessicka's shoes. Walk a mile in GW's shoes. Then you come back and judge them.
Worship how laughable. What's even more laughable is the constant defense by you of your idols. Can't you tolerate an opinion that is the opposite of your own?
I don't need to 4:39, I don't take them seriously like you do. After all they are only entertainers. The people I take seriously are very different people.
Yes 4:37. I think any one who happens upon this blog can clearly see how much better you think you are than any one else. How much more you, your opinions and your friends are worth. How much superior you and they are.
One question remains. Does the phrase Qu'ils mangent de la brioche sound familiar to you?
You're not that dumb 4:32. I refuse to accuse you of being as unintelligent as the people here have often accused Lyndsey of being
Have I now? And that's soo kind of you, but you know even if you did, it would not perturb me in the least.
I have only 2 idols 4:42. My father and my mother. God and Earth. The Heavens and the Land. The Universe and its Creator.
Must suck to be wrong as many times as you have.
How much more you, your opinions and your friends are worth. How much superior you and they are
Again, that's your interpretation of things here, and maybe that also reflects your own insecurity about what certain people may think. But if you want to continue thinking that way by all means do, I'm not out to shove my opinions down your throat.
It doesn't suck 4:48 people can tell you anything. You learn to read between the lines.
March 20, 2012 4:39 AM
Your crush on GW is one of the worst cases I have seen in a long time.
You think your views and beliefs are so much better than the mountain people of Tennessee.
Mountain people, really?
Have you ever been to Tennessee? Yes, there are mountains in East Tennessee, but Middle and West Tennessee are actually quite flat. You make it sound like the entire state is a bunch of hillbillies.
You think that you are worth more than them. That you are so much more intelligent than those who were not privileged enough to go to private schools and universities.
Ever heard of Vanderbilt University? No? I suggest you look it up.
Contrary to what you seem to think, the entire state of Tennessee is not made up of poor, uneducated mountain folk. You've watched too many episodes of The Beverly Hillbillies.
Funny how in defending these poor "uneducated" and "poverty"-stricken people, you insult them even more than the anon who suggested that everyone in the state owns a rifle.
Thing is, this bill will not pass, and if it did, it would eventually be declared unconstitutional, for no other reason than because it goes against HIPAA.
I live in Tennessee, and one thing I do know is that a woman's right to choose is the law of the land. I think the lawmakers trying to reassert control over women are wrong, and I think they are making a grave mistake, because they, like so many others, underestimate the intelligence of their constituency.
