I thought you all might like this web page. I guess this isn't much of an MCR related post (they bore me to tears) but maybe it is, seeing as MCR have done a 180 (to quote a person who recently posted here) especially on feminism. (Also obviously on racism, homophobia etc...)
Next time you're getting mad at Lyn-Z because of her talking about how it's OK for chicks not to be really talented, how her flashing her panties is an inspiration to female musicians, or you're getting mad because of how Gerard treated his female fans, you can visit this page and see that there are people out there still fighting this kind of behavior!

«Oldest ‹Older 601 – 800 of 1571 Newer› Newest»12:14, try not to expect logic. This way you won't be so disappointed when you don't read any. ;)
"Please let's stop being personal to one another, especially about things so trivial as looks. I don't support all Kapuna's opinions but I respect her as a person."
So Kapuna is cry themselves to sleep ugly?
I don't know or care who Method Man is. I don't care if it was a cover song. All of their lyrics are like that, and they all speak for the band as a whole.
You don't say things like that if they're not inside of you to begin with.
Anon, you can love MSI all you want. But I boycott things that I find extremely detrimental or offensive. I boycott products of every kind if they are tested on animals, slave-traded, hell even if they company uses a representative I object to. I used to like Seinfeld, but I will never buy a DVD (not that I would have anyway. Meh.)
Mel Gibson could make the best movie in the world, and I would never, ever see it.
People like that don't get a cent from me.
"I'll carve these bitches one slice at a time"
and
"Just walk away bitch before I drop you"
Sound very much like they could be MSI lyrics to me.
Not one of you would face any of MSI or MCR face to face. Like most hate blogs this place is just full of anonymous unattractive cowards.
"So Kapuna is cry themselves to sleep ugly?"
Yessss, I've seen pictures. Her friends at Mayo's used to tell her she look like Lyn-Z. LMFAO. Noooo, sorry.
F.Y.I
Clifford Smith (born April 1, 1971[1][2]), better known by his stage name Method Man or Meth is an American hip hop artist, record producer, actor and member of the hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. He took his stage name from the 1979 film The Fearless Young Boxer, also known as Method Man. He is one half of the rap duo Method Man & Redman. He won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By" with Mary J. Blige.
He appeared in the motion pictures Belly, How High, Garden State as well as a minor role in The Wackness, and had a recurring role on the acclaimed HBO television drama series The Wire as Calvin "Cheese" Wagstaff.
Wrong again. None of my "friends" ever said that. Just some anons who probably wanted to tease me. But I am way, way over my own looks, anon.
If you're not, that's your problem. :)
Wow, not only did I not know about Method Man, I didn't actually care to know, either. Err, thanks, though?
Kapuna, hats off to you if you actually do boycott things like that. I think that proves that it's not personal or just about Frank, which is what I think what people were giving you a hard time about.
But I am way, way over my own looks, anon.
That just proves that you're not.
Couldn't get Gerard or Frank to look at you so you turned against them?
"So Kapuna is cry themselves to sleep ugly?"
Yessss, I've seen pictures. Her friends at Mayo's used to tell her she look like Lyn-Z. LMFAO. Noooo, sorry."
Kapuna please post a photo since looks mean nothing to you.
I'm sure you are lovely.
I do boycott. And I honestly didn't know all the LM lyrics when I went to see them; I liked the music and I liked the president song. I still don't know most of their lyrics.
Sometimes a new product will come out that I'm not familiar with and I'll be a typical consumer and buy away. But I try to educate myself as well as I can.
For instance, for years I bought Burt's Bees because it was a great product and it has a "not tested on animals" sign on it. But a few years ago, Clorox bought Burt's Bees, and they are one of the worst, so I can't use them anymore.
I always make mistakes with where my money goes, but I try really hard to be a conscientious consumer.
Anon @12:23 you're being out of line. I don't agree with Kapunua's opinions either, but attacking her personally pretty much just negates your argument and makes you look like a bully. You say she's got a personal problem with MCR yet you seem to have a personal problem with her. At least she has actually met them, I very much doubt you have met her.
Why, if my looks aren't important, would I post a picture? What I look like is not important, so there's no need to post one.
I don't have a personal problem, I just know the truth when I see it.
I think most of the women here are haters because they couldn't get Gerard or Frank to look at them. I don't think it has to do with "lyrics" or "racism" I think that's an lame excuse.
They are taking out their life frustrations on people they are very jealous of.
Thankyou for explaining yourself in a dignified manner Kapunua. I respected your opinion, (even though I may not agree with it) but I respect you as a person even more now. I think you're doing a great thing. Anyone who could have a problem with that when it is obviously not as personal as once thought has some issues themselves.
"Anon @12:23 you're being out of line. I don't agree with Kapunua's opinions either, but attacking her personally pretty much just negates your argument and makes you look like a bully. You say she's got a personal problem with MCR yet you seem to have a personal problem with her. At least she has actually met them, I very much doubt you have met her."
Kapunua is unattractive. VERY! vomit worthy.I'm trying to find photo proof now.
You are all bullies here. But once one of your bloggers are called out it's a federal case.
"I don't have a personal problem, I just know the truth when I see it.
I think most of the women here are haters because they couldn't get Gerard or Frank to look at them. I don't think it has to do with "lyrics" or "racism" I think that's an lame excuse.
They are taking out their life frustrations on people they are very jealous of."
Agreed!
Thank you anon, I appreciate that.
I also think this goes for most of us here. I think that in general, the people here share a similar view - that they don't want to involve themselves in something they don't believe in.
Once in a while you get a few real, what you'd call "haters" here, but they are rare. It's usually a pretty mellow place.
I don't want to speak for everyone, and I don't presume to speak for everyone here, either. But for the most part, it's not a personal crusade against one stupid guy.
We used to believe in their product, and they not only let us down, but trampled on what we believed in.
I guess we're the ones who liked MCR not only for the music, but for the choices they made and what they stood for.
Again, I am not trying to speak for everyone. But when reading back over the years, that's what stands out the most.
I wouldn't call her "vomit worthy" but she's not attractive.
I'm very puzzled why some anon/s are hell bent on attacking people's appearances.
And on top of that, always posts pictures of herself in her blog.
So if "your looks don't matter" then why do you post pictures of yourself in your blog? Hmm, yeah, I thought you couldn't answer that.
"Thank you anon, I appreciate that."
to know that was a anon on an opposing side? Would that freak you out? ;>
And before you ask "if you don't like my blog why do you read it" well you JUST ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION. Maybe the same reason why the people here need to spend their life making fun of Gerard, the man they couldn't have.
Kapunua is unattractive. VERY! vomit worthy.I'm trying to find photo proof now.
You are all bullies here. But once one of your bloggers are called out it's a federal case.
As for the first part, grow up. I'm sure you wouldn't like such tratment and I'm sure the people you are trying to defend wouldn't approve either.
Also, sorry, but I'm not considered one of the bloggers here. In fact just the other day I was singled out as being a troll. I support MCR as you do, unfortunately it seems we don't both support respect for others.
What does her level of attractiveness have to do with her opinion anyway?
My reply was to 12:31.
"And on top of that, always posts pictures of herself in her blog."
I'm sure they are heavily photoshopped! :vomits:
"What does her level of attractiveness have to do with her opinion anyway?"
Because the people here aren't happy with themselves and THAT is why they lash out.
If they were happy with themselves they would not feel the anger (jealousy) to truly happy, successful people.
to know that was a anon on an opposing side? Would that freak you out? ;>
It was me, but does it matter? We're all human beings here. I'm sure you have friends you don't agree with everything on.
If they were happy with themselves they would not feel the anger (jealousy) to truly happy, successful people.
There are tons of people who are much happier, and much more successful than MCR and MSI. In every aspect of the words.
Gosh, if it were a case of jealousy, I'd spend all my time hating Ewan McGregor's wife.
So if "your looks don't matter" then why do you post pictures of yourself in your blog?
Because it's my LJ, hello. And I don't care if you read it. The more readers, the better. ^_^
I find it very interesting that people who defend the looks of Lynz or her child are called "fangirls" and "trolls" but when one of you is attacked you coming running to their aid. are you now kapunua's fangirls?
"Because it's my LJ, hello. And I don't care if you read it. The more readers, the better. ^_^"
Then you'll have no problem posting the link? Or shall I?
I have fangirls? Who here defended how I look? One person--who is an MCR fan--said that what I looked like didn't matter. Is that person my fangirl now?
Sense. You don't make any.
Because the people here aren't happy with themselves and THAT is why they lash out.
I think she just explained her reasons pretty eloquently, without resorting to attacking anyone personally.
I can respect that. I don't agree with it myself, cos for me MCR were always about the music, and still are. But I can understand that for some people, particularly those that have been following them longer, it may have been more than that.
I generally only jump in when I see something I disagree with that is more based on hate or something personal then anything solid. Otherwise, I like to try and challenge or rather, understand, those that have deeper reasons and a more thought out arguement.
The link to my journal? My LJ is public, why should I care if anyone reads it?
I generally only jump in when I see something I disagree with that is more based on hate or something personal then anything solid.
I honestly feel like sometimes those are just trolls. Sure enough, there are people here who will joke about things when Gerard or whoever does something particularly assy.
But I really think that a lot of the "OMG HE IZ A FATTY" or whatever posts are trolls. Because in general, people here try to make sense. :)
I find it very interesting that people who defend the looks of Lynz or her child are called "fangirls" and "trolls" but when one of you is attacked you coming running to their aid. are you now kapunua's fangirls?
Sorry, I'm not 'one of them.' 2 days ago I myself was called the worst troll by some of the regulars here, for defending Lyn-Z. (admittedly some of the more extreme posts were considered mine when I didn't actually write them, but still)I just don't like anyone being personally attacked. Lyn-Z, Gerard, MCR, or anyone here for that matter.
"The link to my journal? My LJ is public, why should I care if anyone reads it?"
Then I guess you won't mind posting it
And on that note, I really have to go and start my homework. I didn't mean to get sucked into a whole big long conversation, but it was nice to see a bit of reason shine through from the other side. (Although I'm still not sure who was offering to take us to LA to meet those folks. O_O I get anons confused sometimes, sorry.)
Anyway, I'd better go. Sorry to ramble for so long.
Remember you are the same people who allow hate-speak about Gerard and Lynz's less then a year old child. None of you are innocent.
You preach about racism and child pornography yet you perpetuate so much hate toward a mother and her child here.
Enough with the name calling. Enough with the generalizing. It's clear that there are two opposing sides here, both with very strong arguments showing moderate intelligence. Neither side is willing to see the other's opinion as fact. Neither side has any real concrete evidence on what these people are really like as neither side really knows them.
I believe everything has to have a way to falsify itself somehow (whether it was a real possibility or not), if it holds any water at all.
I propose a challenge to those whom seem to find the members of MCR and their significant others so distasteful. I've actually seen this very thing happen when a band's (huge) fan- site's webmaster suddenly turned against the band he once respected and loved. He mocked them mercilessly for years online. He picked apart every article/interview, ever statement, every personal choice they made, much like you do here. One day he was mysteriously flown out to LA and allowed to spend a few days with those he despised. He certainly had a different opinion afterwards.
I think it would be very interesting to see what would happen if those who felt so strongly they were correct about Lynz, Gerard and the rest of the people they criticized were allowed to spend a day or perhaps a weekend with them.
They could actually sit down and discuss why they thought of them as unintelligent, racist, sexist, and just down right reprehensible.
Would you be afraid that perhaps they may not be as bad as you thought they might be and perhaps you might actually find out they are decent people?
And if you did find them vapid and reprehensible, you'd finally have concrete proof to publish and show all the little fangirls and trolls.
What if it was possible for you to spend one day with them (face to face) and see what they were truly like in person?
Would any of you here be up for that challenge?
Could you actually admit you were wrong after so many years hate-blogging and perpetuating what you thought was fact?
Since VV lives in LA it would be very easy for this to happened. VV would you be up for this challenge or would you prefer to remain anonymous and just continue your hypothesis from what you read?
(I'm asking in all fairness)
Please keep the nastiness/deflection to a minimum as I think this is a very valid and interesting proposal.
"Remember you are the same people who allow hate-speak about Gerard and Lynz's less then a year old child. None of you are innocent.
You preach about racism and child pornography yet you perpetuate so much hate toward a mother and her child here."
I have never once in all my time here read anyone saying anything negative about their baby. The only things I've seen them saying here is that they wish those two jerks would grow up, quit smoking so that their baby doesn't get sick.
You are one sick anon to even suggest such a thing.
One day he was mysteriously flown out to LA and allowed to spend a few days with those he despised. He certainly had a different opinion afterwards.
Maybe someone will fly you mysteriously to L.A.and you just might have a different opinion after you spend some time with Gerard. When you come back from L.A. come back and tell us how he smelled.Oh, and would you please take a pic of the back of his head and tell us if Uncle Fester is getting any bigger. Thanks!
Watch how Kapunua runs away when asked to post a link to her blog. LOL how obvious.
"Maybe someone will fly you mysteriously to L.A.and you just might have a different opinion after you spend some time with Gerard. Hi Lynn.
Why not post a photo of yourself so we can all see how perfect you are?
(Although I'm still not sure who was offering to take us to LA to meet those folks. O_O I get anons confused sometimes, sorry.)
lol wasn't me, your apparant 'fangirl.' I joined the conversation at 12:13. Yes people, note that my opinion differed to hers *shock horror*
Isn't this proof that we can all get along? A lot of supporters who come here say that people here are nasty. And okay, there are some that are. But when supporters come here all guns blazing you can't be surprised when you get shot down yourself. Respect works both ways.
"Isn't this proof that we can all get along? A lot of supporters who come here say that people here are nasty. And okay, there are some that are. But when supporters come here all guns blazing you can't be surprised when you get shot down yourself. Respect works both ways."
agreed, but 11:41 was actually being nice?
Hang on, i will post one.
"Hang on, i will post one."
This should be good!
still confused as to why the looks of the regulars here are so paramount. of the handful of times i've read here the appearances of the band members are hardly ever brought up, and if they are it's usually called out as unnecessary. so whoever keeps at it about looks here must be very immature.
agreed, but 11:41 was actually being nice?
I saw no-one personally insult her though. I'm unsure also as to whether she was the anon who called people silly and thick since she said she was just reading the answers, so I'll hold off my opinion on that.
"I saw no-one personally insult her though. I'm unsure also as to whether she was the anon who called people silly and thick since she said she was just reading the answers, so I'll hold off my opinion on that."
There's quite a few anon supporters here today. It got confusing.
I think 11:41 is a him?
Apologies to 11:41 if you are indeed a 'he.' It's just normally safer to assume everyone here is female.
I like the first one who pretended they knew MCR and could fly us out to meet them. LMFAO. That was an instant classic.
i don't think they were pretending to know the band. i took it as being a hypothetical scenario.
Okay i found one. Go ahead and critize me if you want.
http://i35.tinypic.com/2r213jn.png
"i don't think they were pretending to know the band. i took it as being a hypothetical scenario"
that's the way I read it too.
I wondered why it took so long. Not very mature, but I understand the sentiment. All those asking for pics, just stop, it's pointless and stupid.
"kay i found one. Go ahead and critize me if you want.
http://i35.tinypic.com/2r213jn.png"
typical, hateful , cowardly act. thanks!
" it's pointless and stupid."
Very much like this blog.
Lynn you are really immature. I expected more from you, oh, wait, no, I didn't.
post 666 - Good luck to all of you.
it's pointless and stupid."
Very much like this blog.
Then go to a MCR fansite. Not trying to be mean, but really why are you hear? You will never see me going and bugging the hell out of people that really like the band.
On reflection I think it would be hypocritical to call this blog pointless, when I like to visit it on occasion. I may not agree with its purpose, and I think some of the opinions posted here are stupid, sure, on both 'sides' at times.
Bottom line is, I find this place entertaining. It offers me a much more mature and in-depth discussion than the official MCR forum ever does, and buzznet just scares me tbh.
Also I'd like to add that I think it makes a difference that I'm not here to bug the hell out of anyone either. Just to discuss.
Lynn you are really immature. I expected more from you, oh, wait, no, I didn't.
You shouldn't expect anything from me just like i don't expect nothing from you. I don't know you.
Also I'd like to add that I think it makes a difference that I'm not here to bug the hell out of anyone either. Just to discuss.
Are you the the Kapunua hater that said she made you want to vomit?
To the anon asking people to post their picture: why don't you? I will if you do. I'm actually serious.
"You shouldn't expect anything from me just like i don't expect nothing from you. I don't know you."
isn't that what 11:41 was trying to convey?
Are you the the Kapunua hater that said she made you want to vomit?
No, I'm actually the person who was called her 'fangirl.' I wasn't the person who called this blog pointless and stupid either, I was the one who said that of asking for pictures.
"To the anon asking people to post their picture: why don't you? I will if you do. I'm actually serious."
It's the internet. Nobody is going to post an actual photo no matter how good looking they are.
"Are you the the Kapunua hater that said she made you want to vomit?"
No, like I said there are many anon supporters here today.
It's the internet. Nobody is going to post an actual photo no matter how good looking they are.
I would. I stand by my opinion that looks are irrelevant.
Wow, now other anons are answering questions addressed to me. :S I would sign in on my wordpress, but I use that for my freelance illustration work and it has personal details on it.
This blog has been up for almost three years and started at one of MCR's highest peaks, right after PR and during their Europe tour with MSI. What I want to know is why the sudden influx of pro MCR posters is happening now and not back then?
This blog wasn't as well known back then? MCR are making a lot of noise in magazine articles and on their site lately? I dunno, I've been here a while now.
Rambling on over 5 years doesn't make this bullshit anymore conversation worthy. But continue deluding yourselves.
It must be fun to have the ability to argue with NO ONE. The 'A' in anonymous definitely doesn't stand for attention holder.
"kapunua said...
Thank you anon, I appreciate that.
I also think this goes for most of us here. I think that in general, the people here share a similar view - that they don't want to involve themselves in something they don't believe in."
^Protest is still involvement, dear.
"Once in a while you get a few real, what you'd call "haters" here, but they are rare. It's usually a pretty mellow place."
^Mellow as in boring? Yeah that's about right.
"I don't want to speak for everyone, and I don't presume to speak for everyone here, either. But for the most part, it's not a personal crusade against one stupid guy."
^It's a team crusade promoting your pitiful selves.
"We used to believe in their product, and they not only let us down, but trampled on what we believed in."
^Then convert already.
"I guess we're the ones who liked MCR not only for the music, but for the choices they made and what they stood for."
Jesus was never in the band. 'Get it? Get it? Get it? STUPID MOTHER FUCKER!' Roll from under your old role models and you may find change under that couch of yours to buy tix to the next Flyleaf concert. Since you're all of such Christian credentials.
"Again, I am not trying to speak for everyone. But when reading back over the years, that's what stands out the most."
What stands out are the regulars on this blog who have a desperate need to have this sham of a web page survive by constantly defending your right to complain about a band you no longer care about with posters whose comment count outweighs the comments in actual support of verita. Oxy, moron is at the door!
And as me commenting here goes; A fan on mychemicalromance.com has a link posted on one of her journals. But I see no journal of this kind on the bands site. Interesting proof.
All you did was spew anger, like a typical fangirl. Did you have a point?
I certainly did have a point. But nothing I'd expect you to understand. Is "typical fangirl" one of those anger spewing terms you speak of?
Glad I spewed of hate. Means I'd fit right in around here. Nice to be the highlight of your day but I'm off. Have fun playing with yourselves.
Glad I spewed of hate. Means I'd fit right in around here.
LOL! That reminded me of when Gerard was so happy......he was full of hate!
gerardway
35 weeks no tweet..insanity! So entrenched I just vanished, took a job at IHOP for lyric research. New jams covered in syrup. Good 2 be back
he's probably joking about the ihop job, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was true.
Remember you are the same people who allow hate-speak about Gerard and Lynz's less then a year old child. None of you are innocent.
You preach about racism and child pornography yet you perpetuate so much hate toward a mother and her child here.
No one has ever spoken in a derogatory way about the child Fact. Liar.
Another fact, your precious Lynz had no qualms in repeatedly playing a song about someone's lust for an underage child.
Your nonsensical arguments about meeting these people to explain their views means nothing. Of course they will be on their best behavior and seem to have a good reason behind the meanings of their lyrical content. Just like politicians can come up with good rhetoric to convince people what they stand for.
"We used to believe in their product, and they not only let us down, but trampled on what we believed in.
I guess we're the ones who liked MCR not only for the music, but for the choices they made and what they stood for."
^This.
Because the people here aren't happy with themselves and THAT is why they lash out.
If they were happy with themselves they would not feel the anger (jealousy) to truly happy, successful people.
Are you that simplistic in your reasoning? Can someone not be outraged over an issue or if they feel a group of people deliberately mislead them for financial gain?
Then by your reasoning, the civil rights campaigners, feminists, child rights advocates and list goes on would not feel anger (jealousy) over things they felt were intrinsically wrong, because of their self contentment being happy, successful people.
You need to emotionally grow up and do some research before you say incredibly vapid, stupid things.
If they were "lashing out" in would be directed at their twitters and them personally. Everything is contained on this blog. As with everything within the MCR fandom, they cannot stand people having another point of view and have to attack the people that have them.
Frank and Gerard are not the pinnacle of masculine success or attractiveness which, of course, is subjective.
Only the people that come in here reasoning that dislike correlates to one's own attractiveness display their own prejudice and lack of self worth as they are effectively arguing that a woman's worth is only really based on her physical appearance. Strange how it fits in with the antics of the woman they defend so rabidly.
Another thing, when those are not successful in their argument to dissuade, they become personal. The technique called levelling.
"Only the people that come in here reasoning that dislike correlates to one's own attractiveness display their own prejudice and lack of self worth as they are effectively arguing that a woman's worth is only really based on her physical appearance. Strange how it fits in with the antics of the woman they defend so rabidly."
You're clever aren't you?
Are you that simplistic in your reasoning?
Yes, they are that simplistic.
I still consider myself to be an MCR fan. I still like their music, but I don't care for the way they have been presenting themselves as of late. I didn't like the remarks Frank made on twitter. I didn't care for the ladies, I want you to fuck yourselves thing Gerard did on the last tour. But even so I still like the music and I am usually able to separate the two.
Lately though I have been getting more and more bothered by things. I don't like how they handled the situation with Bob. I don't like that they haven't even told us why. Fans are left to draw their own conclusions of whether he left on his own or got kicked out or whether their was an argument or if he left because of his wrists. Some of us loved Bob and we feel like we need more of an explanation.
Another thing that has been bothering me is that I really don't like the songs they previewed at the Roxy and Summer Sonic. I mean, I really, really don't like them, as in they were bad enough to almost make my ears bleed. Where's the melody? Where is the meaning? Where is any of the trademark things that make MCR's music so good?
These things have been bothering me a lot, but then yesterday I watched the Nylon Magazine interview with the guys and I feel in my gut that something is most definitely wrong. People on the fansites notice it too and they are putting it off to being related to the problems with Bob, but it's so much more than that.
Everything is off in that interview. The group dynamic has changed so much. Gerard just seems so blasé about the whole thing and Ray seems so uncomfortable and he barely says a word. I can remember right before TBP came out and Ray was so excited about it he could barely contain himself. He was so happy and talkative, but in this video he seems nervous and apprehensive. Maybe it's because they're talking about fashion, but he just doesn't look like a man who is excited about a new record coming out like he did when they were doing publicity for TBP.
To me it's like this is a band with no confidence in what they are doing. They are a band who has lost their identity.
I haven't commented here in the past because even though I shared some of the worries and concerns some of the people here have expressed, I always had faith that the band would come back strong and everything would be okay. Now I just don't know.
I am still a fan, at least of the old music, but I'm glad this place exists. It's really the only place I know of where I could have come to say the things I just said without being blasted by fans who think the band is above any criticism at all.
Sorry this was so long and I don't blame anyone if they thought it was tl;dr, but it felt great to sit down and type it out.
8:15, you are no fan if you would come to this blog and criticize MCR. The MCRmy doesn't want "fans" like you.
There's no need to state that 9:57 AM. 8:15 came here to air and discuss their concerns, the whole point of this blog. People can still be fans of the music, no matter what they feel towards the band memebers themselves. I'm sure a little more thought out feedback would be appreciated.
The MCRmy are hilarious.
The MCRmy are hilarious.
Seriously.
Not only can you not post any criticism of their deified band on MCR fansites, but the MCRmay (or should I say Gestapo?) will hunt you down on other websites and rip you a new one if you dare to even suggest that some of the band's behavior might be strange or out of line.
Honestly, I don't get it. Why would they want to be seen as such a bunch of fascists? Can't they see that they are actually doing the band they claim to love so much a disservice?
We do them the courtesy of posting our opinions here instead of going to their fansites to 'desecrate their gods' so to speak, yet they follow us here with their DO NOT CRITICIZE MCR mandate.
It boggles the mind.
They must be taking a leaf out of Dstarpro's book. She's like the head Darlek of MCR fandom online. "NEGATIVE OPINION OF BAND. MUST EXTERMINATE! MUST EXTERMINATE!"
Ooooh, a Doctor Who fan.
I like you. :D
But yeah, I think the whole MCRmy has kind of turned into an army of Daleks. It's too bad really because I think they do more to damage the band's reputation among music fans than the band itself does.
Is it any wonder MCR and their fans are regarded as a joke in the music world? Look no further than 9:57.
Not only can you not post any criticism of their deified band on MCR fansites, but the MCRmay (or should I say Gestapo?) will hunt you down on other websites and rip you a new one if you dare to even suggest that some of the band's behavior might be strange or out of line.
That is the face of bullying: people who participate in this behavior are bullies.
YOU are bullying MCR.
To me it's like this is a band with no confidence in what they are doing. They are a band who has lost their identity.
I think so too. I just don't think they know who they are anymore. TBP was such an amalgamation of other bands' ideas that I think they lost sight of who MCR was. They've been trying to get it back, but unfortunately I think they've been looking in all the wrong places.
I wonder if they even remember the people they used to be?
YOU are bullying MCR.
No, we are not.
If we took these comments to their twitters or their website then maybe you might have a case.
How can we be 'bullying' them if they don't even know or read what we're saying?
Sense. You make none.
YOU are bullying MCR.
If we took these comments to their twitters or their website then maybe you might have a case.
This.
So I hear the ol' G is back flexing his long fingers by tweeting yet again.
What would compel the moron, um, I mean person of silly disposition, to waste his time on the computer.
If he had a life he wouldn't spend his time tweeting everyday.
*smirks*
I know exactly how you feel, 8:15.
In response to the Bob thing: I agree, they should've given a real explanation instead of just throwing it out there. Maybe they were trying to get attention by attracting the media for more interviews? I dunno.
In response to the interview: Ray and Bob both looked rather awkward, and Gerard + Mikey + Frank looked kinda indifferent. It's starting to seem like they just want to get the record over with (Kinda like the "this-is-taking-too-long-fuckit attitude), and like they don't care if the songs have meaning to them anymore or if they're actually good (such as the songs at the Roxy *shudder*). But hey, a majority of the fans will love it anyway.
I want to try and not judge the guys based on the Roxy shows and think of it more as a first glimpse 'cause I'm sure those songs will sound better once they've gone into the studio to be worked out. Also, I think the sound quality of those recordings was very poor, which does not help matters. If indeed those songs even make it onto the record now.
I'm not sure what everyone thinks of their most recent release, Desolation Row, but I liked it. I have faith that these guys can still makes good music. (Yes, I know it was a cover, but tbh it sounds nothing like the original.)
Has anyone here met the guys recently? Though I know their last public apperance was far from recent.
I watched the Nylon interview (thanks for the link) and I don't really see anything wrong, it's a very similar formatt to most of their previous interviews. Bob has always sat there looking miserable, Ray has always kept quiet apart from the occasional laugh at something on of them says, Frank chips in one or two sentences, Mikey sits there pulling strange faces and Gerard does most of the talking. I don't really see what's changed, if I'm honest.
If you're saying it's that they weren't excited about the new album, well, they were never asked about the album. They guys have seemed pretty pumped about it on their site.
I was embarrassed by DL when I first heard it. If they were trying to hearken back to 80's punk, they did a shit job. It was fast paced, but lacked energy, in my opinion, if that makes sense. I was a fan of Watchmen and was excited for the movie on its own merit, but the song at the end just made me cringe. It's cliche to say, but they disgraced a classic song.
I don't agree that they guys just seem like they always do, not when they have a new record coming out soon. Ray doesn't always seem all that uncomfortable. If you look at his facial expressions, you can tell he didn't want to be there. Granted, that could have been because of the fashion thing, but I don't think so. If you watch his facial expressions when Gerard is talking it's like he's inwardly rolling his eyes and a couple of times he looks genuinely pissed off. I almost got the feeling that he was thinking that the whole photo shoot thing was a waste of time when the record is such a mess and so far away from being released. He's not that same happy, proud guy who was so thrilled with TBP.
As far as Frank goes, he's always been able to fake it. Gerard just seems like he has lost interest and Mikey, well, he's always just Mikey.
I also thought the guys look like they're getting a little long in the tooth to be wearing so much makeup and the lipstick creeped me out. Yeah, I know it was for the fashion shoot, but they still looked weird.
Maybe I'm reading things into it, but that video just gave me a bad feeling.
P.S. I hated Desolation Row. Gerard's vocals sucked and the whole fake punk thing complete with costumes was a joke. Since when do punk rockers wear painted on black eyes and designer costumes? That whole thing just made me cringe.
I have never watched the video of DR but from the way people have described it here it sounds like Hollywood punk.
I also thought the guys look like they're getting a little long in the tooth to be wearing so much makeup and the lipstick creeped me out. Yeah, I know it was for the fashion shoot, but they still looked weird.
Yeah, especially on Frank. He just does not look good in that much makeup anymore. His face has changed too much. He looked like a caricature of his old self and it was disturbing to me.
Fair enough if that's your opinion 3:59, I just personally think you're reading a lil too much into it by trying to speculate on Ray's inner thoughts just off his facial expressions. I think it would have been a different interview had they asked them some better questions, or things more specifically about the record.
I don't know how much of a say the guys would have had in the whole DR asthetic/video as it was directed by the same people who made the Watchmen movie.
I have never watched the video of DR but from the way people have described it here it sounds like Hollywood punk.
That's exactly how I would describe it. Kind of like those awful 80's films that tried to depict street gangs with a bunch of pretty white boys. It was laughable and way too much camp for my taste.
[Frank's] face has changed too much. He looked like a caricature of his old self and it was disturbing to me.
I almost didn't recognise Frank. He looks very different with his hair flat and his recent weight gain. I think he could work it though, just that he didn't appear to be doing so here.
I forgot to mention that I am also of the opinion that the interview was quite lackluster but I think that was down to the questions they were asked.
They are getting older now. You can't expect them to look the way they used to.
They are getting older now. You can't expect them to look the way they used to.
I don't, and I actually do think Frank looks healthier with a little weight, especially now with them getting older. I was just saying it was a strange experience, to almost not recognise him. (Though I've thought that before in shots from PR where he hair was much longer.)I think they are aging well, though they are far from what I would consider old anyhow.
Nobody expects them to look the same forever, but they have to change their image as they age in order for it to work.
I don't think Frank wants to continue on with the 'pretty boy' look anymore. He doesn't really seem all that comfortable with it now. He seemed more himself when he was very simply dressed and unmade up playing with Leathermouth.

^Sorry for the double post. Stupid blogger. :/
Wow. Triple post. WTF? I only hit the post button one time.
I think that might be it actually, the lack of make-up, might be why he looks so startlingly different compared to Gerard and Mikey. (I didn't count Ray and Bob 'cause I don't think they've ever been much into that look)
What I meant by "older" was not just in appearance but also style and knowing what suits you. That comes with life experience. Maybe the "old" MCR was like their adolescence.
Who was wearing all the makeup?
Maybe, but I still think that look suited their music and general asthetic at the time.
Who was wearing all the makeup?
I'm sure they were all caked in the stuff (such is the norm for magazine shoots) but I think it was most noticable that Gerard and Mikey were.
The makeup artist must have thought they have fabulous bone structure.
@ 4:38
Genuine or sarcam?
Joking.
I think they do photograph well though.
With loads of makeup ;)
I've seen photos of them without make-up and they don't look that different like a lot of other people (myself included) do.
Sad truth is a LOT of celebrites now male and female, we have never seen without makeup. I don't think all of them photograph that well, even with all that makeup.
Please don't attribute this down to me 'fancying them.' I'll admit a Gerard crush but I have never found Mikey the least bit attractive.
Sure all bands have an image, but for me a band's music is more important than the looks of the band members. That's the thing that lasts indefinitely.
Agreed, when you're sat listening to the music in your car, or on your ipod looks don't even enter the equation. Does anyone else find it weird when you've listened to a band for a while and then only weeks later decide to google them just to see what they look like and see if they are any different that you percieved?
When I listen to new music it might conjure up an image of a band but generally I don't really have any pre-conceived ideas. Some performing artist are exciting both visually and musically, but I find it's the sound and the lyrics that always wins out in the end for me.
I know i will get bashed for this, but his hair looks like crap in this pic!

Who's going to bash you Lynn?
that picture looks like a VERY VERY bad impression of Doctor Who
I think maybe there is a possibility the guys were so uncomfortable in that interview is because they were doing a fashion layout in a fashion magazine. After all, that's not a terribly 'punk' thing to do.
I'm sure that Warner are the ones who set it up, but still, it doesn't mesh too well with the hxc image that MCR seemed to be trying to cultivate in earlier interviews.
It all sort of screams 'Kings of Leon' to me in terms of marketing strategy. Which makes sense I suppose because Warner tried to market MCR like Green Day when TBP came out. They're still hoping to make MCR into the 'biggest band in the world' I guess.
They're still hoping to make MCR into the 'biggest band in the world' I guess.
They lucked out on that.
Wow, that pic. Gerard really is trying his best to look like Robert Smith there, huh?
He did a better impression of Billie Joe Armstrong back during the Revenge tour.
He's an idiot with an idiot stylist.
They lucked out on that.
What do you mean by that? Surely you are saying that MCR is the biggest band in the world?
^aren't
Yeah lol, they're the BIGGEST band in the world.
It all sort of screams 'Kings of Leon' to me in terms of marketing strategy.
This. But KOL took a lot of heat for scrapping their scruffy image and capitalizing on their looks and people have been accusing them of selling out ever since they hit so big in the US. Not that they mind, I'm sure.
But Gerard has made such a big deal about this record being "real" and not "pandering" to the audience, blah, blah, blah. I don't think he would let Warner try and turn them into the next KOL.
Yeah lol, they're the BIGGEST band in the world.
Biggest egos, maybe.
But Gerard has made such a big deal about this record being "real" and not "pandering" to the audience, blah, blah, blah. I don't think he would let Warner try and turn them into the next KOL.
I think that's all bullshit. Gerard would probably sell his soul to become the biggest band in the world. He'd just spout some bullshit about how they 'made this record our way and it just happened to connect with a larger audience'.
But Gerard has made such a big deal about this record being "real" and not "pandering" to the audience, blah, blah, blah.
Real but fake, the most fake thing that will blow your mind and make it really real
Mrs G would love her hubby to be the biggest punk in the world.
Real but fake, the most fake thing that will blow your mind and make it really real
Lol. You've become fluent in Gerard-speak. ;P
I don't think he would let Warner try and turn them into the next KOL.
I don't think he'd have that much of a say, sadly. And most of the people they used to work with and trust with such things seem to have left...
Left, or been kicked out.
But KOL took a lot of heat for scrapping their scruffy image and capitalizing on their looks and people have been accusing them of selling out ever since they hit so big in the US.

Thing is, MCR has tried to capitalize on their looks since day one. They've always been marketed as pretty "gawth boys". Remember the VMA Awards back in 2005?
But all that got them was a bunch of teenage girl fans. KOL at least already had musical credibility as well as a more guy-friendly sound (and image). They just appeal to a wider range of people than MCR.
Don't get me wrong, I think Gerard would love to be where KOL is right now in terms of record sales, notoriety and success, but MCR is a very, very different type of band from those guys.
I think Gerard would love to be where KOL is right now in terms of record sales, notoriety and success
I think so too, but he will never admit it.
Why all the KOL hype? They may be more respected in the music industry, sure, but it appears MCR is the 'bigger' band. At least over here anyway.
They've always been marketed as pretty "gawth boys".
Debatebly only two of them could be truely classed as 'pretty', three at a push, but certainly not all five of them. Ironically, the less 'boyband-esque pretty' the better musician, but still.
I assume you mean Ray is the least boyband like and is the best musician, and Mikey or Gerard is the most, and the worst musician. In which case I agree.
Debatebly only two of them could be truely classed as 'pretty'
Pretty for the 15 year old set.
Why all the KOL hype? They may be more respected in the music industry, sure, but it appears MCR is the 'bigger' band. At least over here anyway.
Where is over here?
OBTN has sold nearly 7 million copies worldwide. TBP sold maybe half that. KOL has won four grammies, 2 Brit awards and they just sold out Hyde Park in London (somewhere between 50,000 - 65,000 tickets) in a matter of minutes.
KOL is touring major outdoor arenas this summer in the US, the kind of places that Projekt Revolution played at. MCR has never played to that type of audience unless it's in a festival setting.
Even at their peak MCR could barely sell out medium indoor arenas.
I used to love Kings of Leon's older music, but my god, did I get tired of hearing Sex on Fire and Use Somebody every single time I turned on the radio. If I never hear either one of those songs again...
MCR never got that kind of airplay.
Fangirls flailed over Gerard, Frank and Mikey, in that order.
Heck, even the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync had a couple of less than pinup worthy members (Joey Fatone, anyone?).
Re: record sales. In its first year TBP sold 3 million copies worldwide. 500,000 of those were in the UK alone- a country half the size of some of our states. :S
People in the UK buy a lot of music, apparently. OBTN sold 228,000 copies in it's first week in the UK. And according to Wikipedia:
"In the UK, Only By The Night has spent over a year in the charts, without dropping out of the top 22. Sales for 2008 was 1,181,640 and a similar level of 1,078,555 for 2009."
Which means it sold nearly 2.5 million records in the UK alone in just a little over 14 months.
And I thought KOL were popular over here. O_o
MCR was always more popular in the UK than in the U.S. Where I live, they never even played them on the radio. If it hadn't been for the music channel FUSE, I probably wouldn't have even heard of them.
Isn't this discussion of how many records MCR has sold kind of invalid now that Gerard has talked about how he thought TBP was pandering, or in other words, selling out?
In my mind that means that he isn't concerned about how many copies this new record sells. He just wants to be true to himself as an artist. He even talked about playing to small audiences in clubs. To me this sounds like a man who is trying to be true to himself.
I don't think money or record sales mean much to him anymore, if they ever did.
or it means that he's finally realized that they can't sell out the kind of arenas that KOL, Green Day, Lady Gaga, or a lot of other people can. Lady Gaga sold out her Pittsburgh stop in under 2 mins.
However they can sell out a club that can only hold 125-175 people. even stay a couple of days and sell out concerts that way
Lady Gaga will be lucky if she's still around in 6 years though. MCR's last UK tour did pretty well tbf, they even sold out the 02 arena, which is no mean feat.
MCR's last UK tour did pretty well tbf, they even sold out the 02 arena, which is no mean feat.
Neither was selling out Madison Square Garden in the US. Face it. They are huge.
don't you think you're being a bit naive 4:17? when TBP came out he went on about how gaining "perspective" and "life experience" allowed him to write the record. those two phrases would suggest to me that he wanted TBP to be a genuine effort. it's just awfully fishy that here he is almost 4 years later writing off the entire thing, when he seemed so invested in it at the time.
and why is it that he brings up an artist that he's supposedly loved forever and that totally inspired the new record, when there's never once been any mention of them before? I read quite a few interviews in my days as a devoted fan and I would remember if he'd mentioned Iggy Pop and the Stooges before.
it's like he has to adopt a whole new identity every record. and in my opinion that doesn't sound like he's "being true to himself".
I don't think Gerard has any idea who he is, which makes it pretty hard for him to be "true to himself."
To be 33 years old and still not found yourself must be terrifying. I feel for him.

i bet gerard's jealous
LOL! Iggy with his hand down his pants! That will be Gerard when he is older.(playing with his sock!)
where have all the comments gone?
Nevermind, they're back now, before it kept sticking on 408 comments. ^_^;
LOL! Iggy with his hand down his pants! That will be Gerard when he is older.(playing with his sock!)
Honestly, Iggy P just looked like a total idiot in that pic no pun intended. Punks take themselves too seriously.
I honestly felt sorry for Gerard when he made that comment in Spin about wanting the "straight guys to want to fuck me," because it was so obvious that he was trying to impress Iggy with it.
I got the feeling that Iggy just wanted to pat him on the head and send him on his way with a condescending little, "That's a good little wannabe punk. Now go put on some more eyeliner."
What the fuck did Jared Leto do to his hair? Who the hell is he trying to be?
The mohawk or something different? I've not seen him recently.
What the fuck did Jared Leto do to his hair?
ikr?
i'm assuming you're talking about the pink mohawk? i don't know, sometimes i think he just gets tired of hearing how ZOMG HAWT he is so he has to go and do something to fuck himself up periodically. but it won't last. i predict he'll get rid of it in a couple more weeks tops.
Why, Jared, why?
He's still a gorgeous man though.
That might possibly be even worse than Gerard's Ronald McDonald Hair.
Well, maybe not. But it's worse than when Billie Joe was masquerading as a Platinum Blonde Punk Muppet.
But nothing can top the I'm an Elf from Lord of the Rings do that Caleb Followill was rocking back around 04-05. *shudders*
OMG, the magenta mohawk. I LOLed. Hard.
Honestly? With the exception of Billie Joe (who should never, ever, under any circumstances be blond), I don't think any of those guys look all that bad with those hairstyles.
I mean, let's face it, you just can't make Jared Leto look ugly. It's a complete impossibility.
As for Caleb Followill, I loved the Elvin look. I honestly think he looked his best during the Four Kicks and The Bucket era. I think KOL were at their best musically back then too.
And as much as I hate to admit it, I think Gerard looked kind of cute with the Ronald McDonald hair. (I still think he's a total douchebag, though.)
Billie Joe looked sickly as hell with that blonde hair. Maybe that's where Gerard got his inspiration for 'the patient'.
he was blond like 20 years ago and he looked ok. but it wasn't as white as that picture. and he wasn't wearing make up.
i personally think he looked good in dreads all those years ago.
I saw the mowhawk before when it was brown but I didn't know he'd dyed it pink! It begs the question why, but at the end of the day, it's his choice. Doesn't affect their music.
It'll probably be short-lived like Gerard and his red hair, blink and you'll have missed it. I'm still unsure what that was in aid of as well, was it just for the comic con thing?
http://www.kerrang.com/blog/2010/04/gerard_way_wanted_part_in_blac.html
Either he's joking, but honestly, he needs to shut the fuck up about subjects he has no knowledge about.
Sighs.
I think Gerard spends a lot of his time reading and researching rock music so he can impress the world with his "knowledge" while acting like he knew about these bands/genres/movements/whatever all along. He's just a dilettante who is desperate to be taken seriously.
He needs to learn to shut his mouth.
It was a joke, between him and a friend. He originally said those things on his twitter, and said friend was tweeting similar things back, so I dunno how Kerrang got ahold of them and made it sound like an interview.
pretty sure gerard won't object to this free publicity though. probably thinks it'll make him look better to his rock peers.
I dunno, I'd be annoyed if things I said got taken out of context like that.
