I hear the C-word loving drummer left / got fired.

I bet the fangirls are going crazy. Are they upset, or are they trying to make the remaining members look like a victim? How long until the ex-member is a bad guy.

Many bands replace drummers right and left anyway. It kind of shows the fakeness of rockbands pretending to be "bestest friends for life". Why do they perpetuate the image that they are BFFs and some kind of posse? I think with most bands it comes down to money and image. Probably no one more-so than with MCR which is more or less a corporate machine anymore.

Maybe the drummer didn't fit into their new LA "we're the only real band" image, or maybe Gerard had a hissy fit over something and threw him out too (like the first drummer.)

Does anyone care, other than to think it's kind of funny?

Pointing and laughing when time permits....

MCR has become such a joke. Nothing they do would surprise me at this point.

Anonymous said...

ken! they're fucking knobheads XD the singer sounds like a strangled cat!

Anonymous said...

I heard that Warner told the band that the album still wasn't 'safe' enough to release and sent them back into the studio to write new material. Bob got sick of the bullshit and walked out.

Anonymous said...

I think Warner sent them back in to re-record too. The Roxy and Summer Sonic were test runs for the new material. Since the majority of fans thought the songs sucked they sent them back in to fix the money machine.

Anonymous said...

I don't think it's even about fans anymore. They want to try and crack the mainstream rock market, and they're willing to gamble with the future of the band to do it.

Anonymous said...

I don't think MCR will ever be find a way to fit into the 'mainstream' market. They've already established themselves as a theatrical, make-up wearing, emo band and that image is going to be nearly impossible for them to ditch.

Besides, they're getting a bit long in the tooth to be appealing to the teenage crowd and they don't have the credibility to draw in the Indie crowd. And they're certainly not Pop material.

Nope. If Warner thinks they're going to break into the mainstream, I think they're going to be sorely disappointed.

Anonymous said...

Here is the problem for MCR: there is no one left to market the new material to.

Anonymous said...

At this point Warner have nothing to lose. They have MCR bent over a table and they can do what they want to try and make this record sell.

It wouldn't suprise me if they'd sent the band back into the studio to try and write at least a few radio-friendly catchy songs that don;t sound like anything they've written before, just to try and grab people's attention.

Anonymous said...

I think if Warner wants mainstream from MCR they would have to hire somebody else to write the songs. I just don't think they have mainstream in them. And they might want to get someone else to sing.

Anonymous said...

i wonder. is the band's new hardcore macho sexist attitude is to try and appeal to male mainstream rock fans, or if it was there all along and is just now surfacing.

Anonymous said...

I think the band (and Warner) was hoping that the release of Desolation Row in connection with Watchmen would allow them to reach a whole new audience of males (with the help of tallicade and friends). I think that's why they talked about the new record being more 'raw', 'hxc', 'real', etc.

I also think they started acting like a bunch of jackasses on their twitters in an effort to present themselves as being more 'rock and roll', 'hxc', etc., because they thought they would be getting attention from that demographic because of their connection to Watchmen.

I also think they went into the studio and recorded a bunch of crap along the lines of that DR cover, in the hopes of impressing the audience they wanted. But it didn't work.

They not only didn't win over the male-oriented comic book audience, they also succeeded in alienating a large portion of their existing female fanbase. So, they had no choice but go back to the drawing board.

At this rate, we may never see the new record and God only knows what kind of crap it's going to have on it.

kapunua said...

I think you're onto something there.

But I also think that the juvenile machismo BS was somehow there all along. It just wasn't marketable in the early naughties when the band started up. The 90's (and Nirvana and Pearl Jam) more or less killed the sexist hair metal band and the early naughties were looking for what was next. Gerard copied verbatim Kurt Cobain's words, and for a while, it worked.

Then I guess it stopped working and now they're trying to be themselves and see how well that sells.

If it doesn't, then it'll be back to the fake "Oh, we care and we're not a bunch of sexist homophobes" marketing ploy.

However, ultimately, the sexist junk is the real MCR. That's what I believe.

I think it's real too.

i think 2 things on this subject. Actually 4..

1.) that they started out humble and the fame got to them

2.) that they've always been asses able to hide it

3.) that they've always been asses and hda good handlers

4.) that they got tired of the fans being up in their faces/life

Anonymous said...

Don't forget they lost their good handler (Brian).

If I were Bob Bryar I would start distancing myself from anything to do with MCR straight away.

My thoughts:

1) No

2) Yes and no

3) If you call good handling constantly being lectured to

4) I think they enjoyed having attention on their way up, and became disillusioned by the hysterical teenage girls element who hijacked the band's fanbase and made them appear like an emo boy band.

Anonymous said...

but in the end all they really are is an emo boy band. they're just the backstreet boys but older, uglier and with dyed black hair.

SPIN magazine will also be getting special treatment during the 25th Anniversary celebration. The March, April, and May issues will all be special editions with unique content and packaging. March and April include such features as "Where Are They Now?" "The Greatest Rock Fashion Icons of the Past 25 Years," and "Under the Influence: Musicians Interview Their Idols."

So Gerard is interviewing his idol Iggy Pop.

Anonymous said...

If he's now channeling his inner Iggy, I kinda doubt it.

Reading that article where Lindsey is bitching about being known only as "Mrs. Gerard Way" is pretty funny now. I mean, what else is she other than that? MSI seems to have gone on infinite hiatus and nobody seems to even care. I don't see fans clamoring for them to record and tour again. What exactly is it that she thinks she has accomplished with her life?

Well, other people who are not rawkstaas also manage it to support their child(ren) so I don't think that this would be a reason to keep him up at night.
I think it's rather the fact that the album will be a disaster of epic proportions and that's what might keep him up at night.

Exactly, he can always sell his house and downsize. Lindsey is just as responsible for their daughter as he is. She needs to work too. They must have realized this when they both decided to start their family.

Of course there's no way for us to know how well planned or how far into the future they were looking at, so it's just speculation up for discussion.
Downsizing isn't always possible with the housing market now. There are a lot of people that owe more than their house is worth after the banks crashed the last few years.

My first thought on looking at those pictures was something Kapunua said a long time ago. "Dead eyes." Gerard has them.

God 8.02, that quote was all kinds of embarrassing. I literally shuddered and blushed at the same time. Gerard you really do talk some shit. And please, "Sleazy Detroit Rock". When was this photo shoot/interview done? It has to be before the bad news about Bob, and the fact that MCR are going back into the studio to start over again.

Anonymous said...

I have to agree, 9:20. That quote was definitely cringe-worth. :/

Anonymous said...

*worthy

Anonymous said...

What straight guys?

Seriously, come on. While I'm sure there are a few straight guys who listen to MCR, I don't know any of them.

The first time I saw them was on the Revenge tour and Alkaline Trio and Reggie were opening for them. There were tons of guys in the pit, but as soon as Alkaline Trio left the stage, so did they. I think things only got worse in terms of male fans after TBP came out.

Poor stupid Gerard.

Anonymous said...

That quote is really a smart of way of trying to win over a mostly straight and unfortunately mostly homophobic male rock audience, Geefart!
He's such an idiot. He's trying to build something up in the front only to tear it down again right behind him with his stupid ass.

I don't know what's wrong with this guy? It seems like he's begging to get bottled again at the next festival. If they ever get to play one again.

Anonymous said...

To me, Iggy Pop epitomizes the idea of self-destruction in rock music. He made it seem 'cool.' Doesn't that kind of go against everything MCR has been preaching about for the past few years?

I don't know. Gerard just doesn't make any sense to me at all anymore. But did he ever?

Anonymous said...

He really does have a habit of saying completely stupid, irrelevant things and it's gotten worse since he married that imbecile.

Anonymous said...

How long until we can find MCR on that page?

Let's all just hope and pray that Gerard doesn't decide to go shirtless like Iggy Pop when and if MCR ever go on tour again.

Anonymous said...

he seriously reminds me of a teenage girl. he finds something he thinks is like the best thing ever and goes all out for it and beats it to death, then ditches it after a few months and moves onto the next "best thing ever".
when has he ever even slightly mentioned iggy pop? never. yet here he is now with a shirt and holding an lp in a photo shoot. and when had he ever mentioned queen or pink floyd before tbp? never.

MCR says said...

It's Oh-ficial, Frank's and Jamia are having twins and MCR are working on "the new shit god damnit", and everything is coming up millhouse.

Anonymous said...

I agree. Before he was all about The Misfits and Iron Maiden. And of course, his mentor Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day. Back then he never mentioned MSI either -- you know, the band that gave MCR their 'big break' by letting them open one show for them? *rolls eyes*

Anonymous said...

Wow, so the songs they had written before made everything else they had ever done before irrelevant. And now these new songs are soooo much better than those were...

I smell some serious bullshit here.

Anonymous said...

Maybe one day when Frank has his twins out in public and they're making a racket (as kids are prone to do), someone will tell him that Jamia should have sat on a coat hanger.

Anonymous said...

NEver mind squeezing twins out, how are the OPs going to shit out those bricks when they find out. They might finally have to admit that Frank has sex with a woman. And not them and not Gerard.

Anonymous said...

I hope Jamia has sense enough not to let her children be named something regretful.

Anonymous said...

It's looking more and more like they kicked Bob out. Why else would they be going into the studio again unless they don't want to share songwriting royalties with him?

Fans are so naive to keep up with this wrist injury excuse.

Anonymous said...

Or it's just extreme denial.

I do think the fangirls need to prepare themselves though, this is probably the last record MCR will ever record. Although I predict a solo record for Geetard with the wifey doing bass and backup.

Anonymous said...

I agree about the last record. All the members are married and 2 out of 4 not counting Bob anymore are parents or soon to be. They aren't big enough to maintain their family and music careers like a lot of other musicians have, like Green Day. At this point it's even doubtful they'll tour for this record. I also agree about Gerard going solo, or making a new band. he seems addicted to the limelight.

Anonymous said...

Yes, because making fun of people with social anxiety is hilarious right?

Seriously. What kind of person would do that? My husband's mother suffered from extreme social anxiety and agoraphobia nearly her entire life. The poor woman rarely ever left her house. Her disorder made her miserable and was very hard on my husband and his siblings when they were growing up.

The fact that 8:36 would throw around insults like that says a lot about what kind of person she is. I'll bet she thought Frank's coat hanger comment was hilarious too.

Anonymous said...

I have a cat. That's where the similarities between me and your "profile" end, 8:36.

So you wanna tell me what the hell is wrong with being a cat owner?

According to the American Humane Society:

* There are approximately 93.6 million owned cats in the United States
* Thirty-three percent of U.S. households (or 38.2 million) own at least one cat
* Fifty-six percent of owners own more than one cat
* On average, owners have two cats (2.45)
* More female cats are owned than male cats (70 percent vs. 65 percent respectively)
* Twenty-two percent of owned cats were adopted from an animal shelter
* Cat owners spent an average of $203 on routine veterinary visits
* Eighty-seven percent of owned cats are spayed or neutered

Sorry to hear that, 9:19.
It can be extremely debilitating.

2.5 albums worth of "new shit" sounds more like Warner keeps sending them back to make it better than a creative streak.

I may be wrong but didn't Iggy Pop once show up to an awards show in clear plastic pants?

Anonymous said...

Iggy Pop would do anything to shock. He was known to self-mutilate, undress and vomit on the stage. He also liked to insult his audience. He was kind of the godfather of shock rock, although he did it without elaborate costumes and stage effects. At least the guy was an original, which is something you certainly can't say for Geetard.

If he's anyone's idol, I would guess either Lindsey's or Jimmy Urine's. To my knowledge, Geetard has never mentioned him or the Stooges until very recently.

I wonder why Frank felt the need to announce his future twins on the internet. Seems he must want the attention as much as Gerard does.

Why would he not want to announce it? It's exciting and wonderful news for him and Jamia and of course they want to share it, would be pretty strange if he'd never said anything then suddenly Jamia was pictured wandering around with 2 babies in tow come late summer.

Anonymous said...

At least Frank is acknowledging his babies, which is more than Gerard did.

But then, he and Jamia were probably trying to have kids so I imagine he's happy about it.

Anonymous said...

That's nonsense. Of course he's excited and it is wonderful news for them. Any prospective parent would be excited. And so what if she suddenly appeared with babies or it was announced after the births. It's their business, it should be shared with their friends and family not an MCR fanbase imo.

Anonymous said...

These celebrities should protect their babies and children. Not dole out their pictures on the internet.

Anonymous said...

But then, he and Jamia were probably trying to have kids so I imagine he's happy about it.

I think Gerard and Lindsey did too. He probably doesn't admit it because it's not punk to plan things.

Anonymous said...

Quite frankly, I'm not really interested in celebrity babies and I have never understood the public's fascination with them.

I'm happy for Frank and Jamia, but I don't get the "OMG, TWINZZZ! THEY'LL BE THE CUTESTET BABIEZZZ IN THE WORLD!!1!" nonsense that the fans are bleating on about.

I understand why he would want to announce it to the fans, but if he wanted to keep it quiet, I would understand that too. A person's family is sacred and he should be able to handle it the way he chooses. Same goes for that moron Gerard.

I agree that a child should not be used as a promotional tool, which I think Gerard did (for his comic) and also what Frank is doing (to deflect attention from Bob's departure and the fact that the record is taking forever to make).

I do think that making an announcement and talking about your children is perfectly fine, so long as you don't sell pictures and use those children as fashion accessories. People are usually excited about becoming parents and want to tell the world, so I don't begrudge them that. I do, however, question the timing of the announcements in both MCR members' cases.

I guess he wanted to let everyone know that Gerard is not the only one to ever have a kid and in this case he is one up on Gerard by having two!

If that were true how immature would that be.

Anonymous said...

I wonder how Gerard feels now that he's not the only Baby Daddy in MCR? Especially since Frank did outdo him with two. He's probably livid at not being the center of attention.

Anonymous said...

No. I suspect Gerard would be genuinely happy for Jamia and Frank although I think he may be slightly envious if his children are boys.

Anonymous said...

At last Frank has the curtosy to thank his fans for their well wishes!

Hey everyone thanks so much for the congrats & well wishes. Looking forward to the rest of this year, a new record and new little people xo#

When did smelly druggie or his smelly wife ever lower themselves to do that!

Anonymous said...

No. I suspect Gerard would be genuinely happy for Jamia and Frank although I think he may be slightly envious if his children are boys.

What makes you think that?

I mean, you may be right. I don't know him, but something tells me that Gerard has never had a genuine emotion in his life that wasn't completely self-centered.

Anonymous said...

True. Gerard never even acknowledged the fact that Lindsey was pregnant until he was forced to in a magazine interview. And he never, ever thanked fans for their well wishes. And it wasn't because he was trying to protect his privacy because Lindsey and MSI announced the pregnancy very early on.

Anonymous said...

I don't know him either that's why I said I suspected it. I think his self-centered attitude is more of a 'poor me' attitude.

so............. apparently there are several covers of Spin's next issue.. BJ's one of them yay!

for all the drugs he took in the early days (pot, cocaine, etc.) he still looks damn good.

@Iamflaa my lawyers have advised me that I have said too much already. I must silence the voices in my head now. Sorry.

Spin scans.

Or, Gerard kissing Iggy Pop's ass. Loved the John Mayer quip. Thing is, I think Iggy was serious when he said that. ;)

Anonymous said...

he just looks really unhealthy. like anorexic, sleep deprived, and coked out all at once.

Anonymous said...

That last shot of Gerard where he's holding the LP -
I think his hair is so dirty it stood up on its own like that. LOL
That whole look makes me think of Billie Joe's recent style with the longer hair. Gerard just fails at it.

Megan said...

Billie is hotter than ever. I don't personally believe he ever did THAT many drugs. He looks and functions too well for much serious drug use.

Now Marilyn Manson, on the other hand...

I don't believe he actually ever did THAT many drugs; he looks and functions too well for it to be true.

Now, Marilyn Manson, on the other hand...

idk i remember an interview with billie and in it he says even he thinks it's a miracle he isn't as fucked up from drugs as he probably should be. lmao

Gerard Way is a complete and utter tool.

His band made a career out of "pandering" to their audience with all their empowerment and saving lives rhetoric. Then suddenly, after running across MSI on PR they decide they're above that, that they want success and fame on their own terms. So, out with their "message" and out with Brian. I imagine they would drop Warner if they could.

They were full of shit when they started out and they're full of shit now.

And how idiotic must he have seemed to Iggy Pop talking about "channeling" the Stooges. Iggy never channeled anyone. That's not what punk music is about.

Gerard wants so desperately to be important in music but he still hasn't realized he isn't going to get there by copying other acts. Too bad he never learned to just be himself.

William Shakespeare once said, "Nothing is so common-place as to wish to be remarkable." If that's the case, then Gerard Way is as common as it gets.

Megan said...

They can't drop Warner, Warner = $

Frankly, I'm surprised that they're even getting the level of attention for record #4 that they have been getting so far. They've had 2 cover stories from major rock magazines (AP and Spin), and the record isn't even out yet. I was reading AP the other day and the readers even named GW as their #1 "rock god." They question running through my mind is, who the fuck are these people? It's 2010 and they're still not over it? Good Lord.

MCR is one of many emo Has Been bands that are starting to feel so last decade.

Anonymous said...

Lol. If ever there was an example of a band blatantly pandering to their audience, it's LOTMS.

Anonymous said...

They're teenies who don't have anything better to do than sit and hit the refresh button over and over to vote for MCR.

Anonymous said...

But to hear Gerard talk, he's not interested in $$ -- just in being honest and real now. Not that I believe a fucking word the douchebag says...

Megan said...

Gerard is definitely a businessman, but he doesn't like to shower, so he masquerades as an "artist." That's all there is to it.

You know, that makes sense. Serial voting is the only way I can think of that that would happen... that magazine is also overrun by teenies as of late (or am I just now noticing it?).

I might have said she was employing metaphors, but then this is Lindsey we have here. Not likely.

Anonymous said...

Gosh, Billie J's cover looks so much more appealing than G Way's!

Anonymous said...

Someone also told me he named dropped the stupid wife again.

Anonymous said...

"I'd been a metal-head, but then I got into punk and The Ramones and through that I got into Iggy"

Punk = The Smiths and musicals ;)

Anonymous said...

If Gerard didn't want to pander to his audience, then what was all the Frerard about? Especially when he would precede it with statements like, "let's give them what they want". Also, there were those couple of times that he unzipped Mikey's jacket and licked his chest (lol, the Way Down video). If that wasn't catering to the fan's lowest desires, then what was it? Does he routinely lick his brother's chest?

Anonymous said...

Why does anyone need to pay attention to anything that pea-brain Lindsey Way tweets?

Anonymous said...

Gosh, Billie J's cover looks so much more appealing than G Way's!
-----------------------------------

I wish I had gotten Billie Joe's cover instead. I don't know how this happened, but my brother had somehow gotten a subscription to Spin magazine even though he doesn't read it at all, and today's issue that came in the mail unfortunately had Geetard on the cover.

When I saw it, I kinda wanted to puke, and this was right before I was gonna get some french toast.

Has anybody been following the story about Sandra Bullock's husband cheating on her with that horrid tattooed model? In a lot of her pictures she reminds me of Alicia Way. They both have that motorcycle gang, trailer trashy, tattooed chick vibe about them.

happyXamp said...

yea i saw the pictures of the mistress on TMZ. she was wearing an armband with a swastika on it

Weird. Why would they send a copy to Quebec? And Vancouver?

Anonymous said...

???

Anonymous said...

that link is to record of ger-z's marriage. it is weird....

Anonymous said...

And the point of linking that was what, to make people look bad on this blog?

Anonymous said...

So............they're moving to Canada?

happyXamp said...

im with you 10.16 i don't get it at all

Anonymous said...

I don't really care about Gerard and Lindsey's marriage, where they live, where the license shows up or anything else pertaining to their private lives and I don't really see how it's relevant to the interests of this blog (i.e., Gerard's stupidity in handling his musical career, lies to fans, etc.).

Anonymous said...

they're not moving to canada, it looks like some creepy chick named carol just wanted a copy, if i'm reading that right.

Anonymous said...

it looks like some creepy chick named carol just wanted a copy, if i'm reading that right

That's sick! MCR fans are scary as hell.

Anonymous said...

Maybe they want to try and contest the legality of their union?

Anonymous said...

ok, someone linking that is a bit creepy. i will say this, now that i've seen it, it seems weird.i shouldn't of looked, cuz now I'm really confused. didn't they have their ceremony at the Coors place at ProRev Sep 3rd? plus it says it was recorded at 10:38am but the cermony took place at 12:00am? you can't file for a marriage license after you get married, right?i know you can sign off on one after the fact, but..i'm confused

Anonymous said...

Haha! What if it isn't legit?

That'll teach him to rush into things!

Anonymous said...

^what if that was why Brain was so upset about it?

Anonymous said...

Brian was upset over the marriage?

Anonymous said...

I smell some gossip a'brewing...

Anonymous said...

No gossip just curiosity and amusement. I always thought the whole thing was stupid. Gerard became Geetard to me on that day.

If he even screwed that up I will laugh and laugh and laugh.

Anonymous said...

Actually, If I recall correctly since it was a while ago the marriage certificate was dated 9/10/07. That serves as a record of the marriage after it was allegedly recorded legally. If you remember the certificate it says that it was performed at Coors Amphitheatre on 9/4/07 but it was reported by all of the news media sources that it happened AFTER that last date of the Pro Rev Tour. which was 9/3/07

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Projekt_Revolution_tour_dates#2007

Could someone condense that link? sorry about that.

Here's a pic that some creeper fan saved on buzznet:

http://www.buzznet.com/tags/mychemicalromance/photos/?id=22684081

Again sorry.
Says 9/4/07. Either that is a fake or it was filed after the actual fact and is therefore a fraud.

Anonymous said...

^more like that whole tour for me. TBS was good though.

Anonymous said...

Ha! Knew it! Man he's an idiot!

And I laugh and laugh and laugh.

Anonymous said...

And IF it is fake, that might explain why certified copies were sent to random people in Canada. Or maybe they weren't random? who really knows?

Anonymous said...

did that link lead anyone else to a bunch of fruit?

Anonymous said...

which link?

Anonymous said...

the buzznet one. its just me isn't it?

2:54 said...

Haha this is why I need to learn how to condense links. Sorry!

Hyperlinker said...

My pleasure 3.16.

Just for the record it's:

(a href="paste the URL here") say whatever you want here like "LINK"(/a)

But when you do it you can't use ( and ) you have to use < and >.

So replace ( with < and ) with >.

Good luck.

I agree. I really don't see the point about all this.

^stupidity is stupidity. his lack of care for anyone but himself seems to have led to his marriage being a fraud.

just like his career.
