A few links

I followed a few links from a link someone posted here, to ONTD. From there, there was a discussion about MCR's racism and sexism with posts to a Tumblr that had the same views about them.

It is nice to see that people are finally catching up to everyone here.

So here are the links for you.

MCR link on ONTD discussing Frank and Gerard's disgusting behavior.

That led to a Tumblr post detailing Gerard's "I'd smash your face" threat. (I personally do not have a Tumblr so I don't know how to repost that. But anyone with a Tumblr, please repost.)

Frank's racism even made it onto Yahoo questions. Here.

So there you go, we are not the only ones out there willing to call bands out on their disgusting behavior.

Hope everyone has a nice spring time!

The 16 year old thing turned me on. Not sure why.

What 16 year old thing?

Anyway. Verita, hope you don't mind, but I do have a Tumblr and while I could not reblog that post (it was a question, not an actual blog,) I did link your blog here to the girl writing that Tumblr. It looks like she's looking for more details of his gross behavior and well, they are pretty much cataloged here. :D

The girls who support Gerard and his 'facesmashing' comment should not be encouraging him. You see what happened to Ben Weasel when he decided it would be cool to punch a woman.

By the way, the man who punched Snooki a while back? Not only did he get fired, but he was unable to get another job, and the last thing I heard was he was going into the military as a last resort.

If fansheep really care about Gerard, they would be telling him to calm his silly ass down.

Anonymous said...

Gerard would never ever punch a girl.

Remember when Frank said that Snooki being punched was an 'act of God?'

Yeah, this band. I can't even anymore.

Please add this link to the blog. The comments are wonderful if anyone wants to read the kind of crap MCR fans are trolling out in order to defend Gerard and his violent misogyny.

NME scan.

LOL Gerard thinks nu-metal is music that 'objectifies women' and that it's music for people 'who just want to hit each other'.

OH THE IRONY!

I can't think what's better: being a douche in Limp Bizkit and wearing my doucheness on my sleeve, or being Gerard Way and being a complete and total hypocrite.

Anonymous said...

Gerard, let me give you some advice. If you ever, EVER dare to hit a woman like you're 'posturing' about doing over twitter, make sure you run the other fucking way after you land your blow. Because you and your pasty ass are going to get ground into the fucking pavement if you pick the wrong girl. And hopefully, you WILL pick the wrong girl. It's only a matter of time, you misogynistic jerk.

I love how Lindsey is 'standing by her man' and tweeting pictures of all her famous 'friends'. I guess being a racist, sexist idiot really pays in life. Well, until your husband his coveted wallet ditch you for something younger and prettier, that is.

Anonymous said...

Some of those BN comments are hilarious. Case in point:

I find it ridiculous that some people have personal issues with people they dont know personally. And wouldnt it be worse if he was hitting on young women.
This man does not promote voilence against women...its just stupid to say he does. Hes just a guy from Jersey who is in a band which he loves, and makes music, he's not a hero or a messiah, hes not looking to save anyone anymore so all those girls who depended on him to make all the bad things go away, well you are out of luck.

First this girl tells people not to judge Gerard because they don't know him. Then she immediately starts talking about the things he does/feels/doesn't look to do anymore, etc., just as if she knows him.

LMAO.

Anonymous said...

^That's the typical fansheep mindset. They "know" all these wonderful things about Gerard, yet nobody can "know" anything bad about him. And in their poor little minds, that makes perfect sense.

I think the logic part of their brains is broken.

I just ran across this article and thought the headline was funny: Thousands of Reading Festival tickets still on sale

The article says that traditionally the tickets sell out within 24 hours. I wonder if MCR headlining has anything to do with it? If you read the Reading/Leeds boards, it certainly seems like it.

Anonymous said...

I think people having less money and the recession in the UK has much to do with it, but I also think having MCR headline isn't helping. The people who want to see rock bands go to Download, the NME hispters go to Reading. Seeing as MCR can't decide what sort of band they want to be and haven't got the respect of either market, they're hardly going to draw in sales.

When it comes to showing off Lindsey beats Eliza. I think none of these people would have known her or wanted to meet her if she wasn't Gerard's wife.

Anonymous said...

Gerard would never ever punch a girl.

I don't think he ever would either. I think he took out whatever he was feeling that day on Siobhan and the other girl with those irresponsible tweets and his idiotic fanbase took off with it and ran. It doesn't excuse his behavior on twitter and he did a lot of damage to the way he is perceived and his band.

Whatever happened to the photos Frank was supposed to be selling for Japan? Did anybody ever hear anything else about that?

Anonymous said...

Nope. No photos for Japan. Just crappy looking nylon jackets that cost $100.00. Proceeds go to Warner and MCR.

Anonymous said...

It amazes me how fangirls were so vicious toward Eliza, yet with Lindsey you have a worse fame obsessed version.

Anonymous said...

And you have to hand it to Gerard for bringing out his inner douche, Lindsey approved no doubt.

Hello people!

I wanted to thank you for your support!!!
I'm really happy that here is a place where sane people post and realize what a disgusting turd Geefart is.

Also, Kapunua, thank you very, very much for your support!!! Thanks for the pdf you sent via Twitter.
The thing is that a lot seems to have changed there and on the German Twitter site there isn't even an option to report Twitter users for harrassment or bullying. They just say Well, people say bad things sometimes. Deal with it. Don't answer them. Don't incite them. Make your Twitter account private and block those people. And if you are threatened with violence go to the police. Meaning, Twitter Germany doesn't want to deal with it. Nice!!! They just give you a few links to cyberbullying sites which, as far as I know, are all in English, so if you're a German teen with little to no English speaking skills you're fucked.
Well, I found a site on the English Twitter help center site on which I would be able to send my report to Twitter, but I don't think that this would be a good idea.
I don't think that they would take the time to investigate all of the threats and I have the feeling that they would rather consider to delete my account because I think they would see it the way a lot of other people see it, namely that I only created that account to 'harrass' the band that gives Twitter site traffic.

So, I'm just thinking about making my account public again and waiting for the fan sheep to get a heart attack while reading my tweets.

Also, I'm not too impressed with the link to ONTD. Some people there think that Gerard went too far, but those idiots also think that I'm a troll who harrassed him.

They just don't get what this is all about. Apart from that, they all assume that I'm a girl. That's why they're shocked.
You know this reminds me of people who think that it's awful if a girl gets raped, but when it happens to a woman they think that she might have deserved it.

Anonymous said...

They also say we verbally abuse Bandit here, and send Lindsey and Gerard death threats. LMAO. I think maybe a handful of trolls have ever done that here, and they were called out like every other dumbass.

I also love how the commenters bypass the criticism about Lindsey/MSI's/MCR's racism/sexism etc. THAT is the real reason we are here.

Anonymous said...

Death threats = geewithoutlynz troll and her twitter friends.

Criticism of racism, sexism, misogyny = this blog.

Get the facts straight, defenders of Gerard. I'd like you to link to ONE comment on this blog where we made or advocated threats of violence against Lindsey or her child. If ANY have been made (probably by MCRmy trolls seeking to report us) then they get called out by the regulars here. We don't threaten minors or laugh about child abuse. That would be what Gerard does on his twitter and what Lindsey and her friends do in their shitty band.

Anonymous said...

The only thing I have ever read here about his daughter is concern. So what, his wife gets called a bitch, she acts exactly like one. Aren't they forgetting his wife played to music about pedophiles? Are his fans that fucking stupid?

Anonymous said...

I don't think that they would take the time to investigate all of the threats and I have the feeling that they would rather consider to delete my account because I think they would see it the way a lot of other people see it, namely that I only created that account to 'harrass' the band that gives Twitter site traffic.

Siobhan that's exactly what might happen. They want celebrities there for a reason, the average person with an account doesn't account for much.

Anonymous said...

Siobhan open your account again. Let those fans stew in their own juices.

Anonymous said...

3:03, I agree with the sentiment, but please don't use gendered insults like 'bitch'. Those are exactly the sort of slurs MSI use and propogate. Yes, Lindsey should be ashamed of herself for featuring in such a hate-vehicle as MSI, but we don't need to stoop to the level of her and her tragic friends.

Anonymous said...

Sibohan, did you ever say you wanted to shoot Lindsey in the crotch?

I'm just curious. I don't remember the comment myself, but I've seen you accused of it by someone defending Gerard. They were saying that he knew where you posted (here) and what you'd said about his wife, and that's why he tweeted what he did about you. Personally I think it's horseshit, but if you did make a comment like that then it's not something I believe anyone at this blog would advocate.

Anonymous said...

I understand 3:13. They are just all round crappy superficial people.

kapunua said...

No prob. I don't think they'd close your account though; they'd need a good reason to do that. It *is* hard to find the place where you can report things, it' slike they hide it on purpose. >_<

Anonymous said...

Siobhan, I think you should send all of your evidence to various media outlets, particularly ones in the UK. One of them is bound to pick it up. Then maybe Gerard will get his name bandied about the internet as a woman basher like Ben Weasel. It probably won't ruin him like it did Mr. Weasel, but he'll have to at least address what he did to try and reclaim his reputation.

Most MCR fans don't really follow his twitters and parents aren't on tumblr, so they don't know what's going on. A lot of them would be upset to find out what kind of man their daughters are idolizing. I think they deserve to know.

It's worth pointing out that Gerard hasn't actually hit a woman like the other guy has, so let's remember that. However, I agree that more fans would be offended with his threatening comments and use of slurs if they were made aware of it.

Anonymous said...

Nobody ever said that Gerard hit a woman, anon. But the fact that he threatened it in a joking manner is almost as bad, knowing (and he has to know what his fanbase is like) that his fans would take up his call for face-smashing. Given the influence he has on these young girls and the fact that he is a man in his mid-thirties, he should comport himself better.

The fact that he didn't actually hit anyone doesn't excuse what he did.

Anonymous said...

Wow, MCR is really still trying to make Sing happen, aren't they? I can't believe that now they're trying to make it into some anthem for Japan.

Gerard will probably be singing the lyrics "Sing it for Japan" at the band's shows now. Way to exploit a tragedy, guys.

Anonymous said...

^Yeah, they should have stuck with the photo idea. It's great that they're doing something to help, but this does seem a bit self-serving. *shrug*

Anonymous said...

8:28, you are totally right. I didn't mean to imply he had an excuse at all. I was just pointing out that one case is more serious, since it escalated from threats of violence to actual violence and assault.

Anonymous said...

Just when you think they can't sink any lower, they do.

Hasn't Japan suffered enough? Does it really deserve Gerard's strained, weak vocals remixed and masquerading as concern in an attempt to promote a failing record?

Anonymous said...

People in Japan need food, clean water and places to sleep. I don't think they need a video with artwork and messages from 13 year old MCR fangirls telling them that they are concerned.

I don't know. Maybe I'm being too cynical, but I think this is taking the "art is the weapon" message too far. Art isn't going to help the people in Japan.

Anonymous said...

I don't like to criticize what people do when they're contributing to charity, but couldn't they have done something other than promote their current single?

That really does make it seem like they're exploiting Japan.

8:46 said...

Coming from another band, I might not feel this way. It's really sad that the band's actions over the past few years has made me question everything they do. I suppose I am cynical now, and I have them to thank for that. :(

Anonymous said...

They need to just ask their fans to donate to the Japanese Red Cross. That would be the best thing they could do, and the fans would do it, because the band told them to. This SING bullshit just reeks of desperate, selfish profiteering.

Siobhan (nsi) said...

Kapunua, I think they hide the site so that they don't have to deal with too many complaints because I could think of many reports being about celebrities behaving just like Gerard and Twitter doesn't want to be in the position in which they might have to take action.

I remember that back then there was a Twitter user called 'bparsons' who tweeted things to Serial-Killer-Face. I screencapped his tweets, but I can't remember anymore what they were about. Thing is that this person's account got deleted and when Serial-Killer-Face was asked about what happened to that user he tweeted back: 'I threw him to the wolves'. To me this meant that he reported the person and got his/her account deleted.

Twitter only needs to claim that I'm violating their policy and my account will be history. They don't need to explain. It's their right as the site owner. And nobody will care about what Gerard Way or his meat puppets did as long as he and his band members give them site traffic.

I will make my account public eventually, but at the moment I'm still enjoying the curiousity of the fan sheep who're still sending me follower requests every day. So far, about 70 MCRyans wanted me to accept their follower request. I think I've blocked about 140 of them. Those little shits. How eager they are in wanting to please their puppet master. Pathetic!

Siobhan (nsi) said...

What I find so sad in all of this is that those girls and women are defending Gerard so vehemently as if misogyny is something that is giving them rights instead of taking it away from them.

Anonymous said...

Sibohan, did you ever make a comment saying you wanted to harm Lindsey? I don't remember you doing, but some people are saying you did that that's the reason Gerard said what he said to you.

Siobhan (nsi) said...

They're talking out of their ass because they need reasons to be able to put the blame for his misogyny and idiocy on me. Oh, she threatened Lindsey and the child, you say? Well, then she deserves that he wants to kill her. Now, I fully agree with him wishing a slow death on her. SCORE!!!

I just said that I pity his daughter for the father she's got and I stand by that statement.

People on Twitter already tweeted that I shouldn't have 'dragged' his child into this, but actually it wasn't me who dragged her into this discussion, but Gerard himself. By using misogynist slurs and thus legitimizing misogyny for his fans, Gerard is contributing to create a hostile environment for all girls and women in this world, which automatically includes his daughter. And his wife.

I only mentioned Lindsey when I tweeted someone something about Gerard and MSI. I didn't even mention her by name, let alone threaten her. Why should I?

Anonymous said...

That's okay Sibohan. The comment made was that you said something here once about shooting her in the crotch when she did a backbend. I don't recall such a comment being made at all, but I'm certain it would have been called out if it had.

Siobhan (nsi) said...

WHAT??? Can you lnk me to where this is discussed?

Anonymous said...

I can't remember where I saw it but I think it was on some random twitter discussing it with other fans. As I said, it isn't something I remember anyone here saying. I fear the fans are really that deperate to excuse Gerard, they'll create any lie to aid their cause.

Anonymous said...

I think fans are confusing Siobhan with geewithoutlynz when they say she's a troll. But even so, I don't recall geewithoutlynz ever threatening Lindsey or Bandit. They just look for excuses, and if someone says you threatened them, the fanzombies believe it because they want to.

They're idiots, and I wouldn't let them get to me. Gerard proved what an ass he is, and anyone with any intelligence and who isn't brainwashed can see him for what he is. I wouldn't worry about those braindead morons who look to put the blame on you.

Siobhan (nsi) said...

You know, I'm sure if we go way back I have said a lot of things here that were WAY out of line. I admit that.
But the thing is that I learned from that and that it wasn't okay and I stopped.
I don't remember that I said on this blog once that I wanted to shoot Lindsey in the crotch.
If I did, I truly apologize for it!
But you know, that's the thing. You should be able to apologize. If Bob had apologized, if Frank had apologized, if Gerard had apologized... Everyone slips and makes jokes or comments that are out of line, but the thing is that if you get called out on it you should be able to say Hey, you're right. Thinking about it, this was rude, inappropriate, totally uncalled for.

But that's what they never do. They think they're above it and by deleting things and then saying the same shit on a different day it shows that they haven't learned.

And btw, who here really thinks that Gerard reads this blog? Please!

Anonymous said...

Having come from Stafoo (back in the good old days, when bashing Gerard wasn't taken so damn seriously), I used to make comments here regarding his appearance. I might have made a comment or two about Lindsey not having an upper lip too, but that was just some good-natured jibing -- the same kind of thing we used to do on Stafoo. Trust me, the Twinkie jokes and Whale macros from there were far worse than anything that ever got said about Gerard's appearance here.

Now that we have a real issue with Gerard's behavior, I realize that those kinds of remarks are out of line for this blog. We have a legitimate complaint (many, actually) against the man, and I want them to be taken seriously. The time for Hunchback jokes is over. I think most of us realize that now.

I don't think anything truly harmful has ever been said on this blog. I don't recall any threats, nor do I recall any statements that could be misconstrued as slanderous. I doubt you did anything like that on your twitter either, Siobhan.

I do agree that Gerard, Frank, and all of them should be big enough to apologize. I think they should have apologized for that ridiculous hair-pulling catfight they had at PR too. But they won't ever admit they did anything wrong. That's why the fans' "They're just human!" argument doesn't hold up. If they thought of themselves as "just human" and capable of making mistakes, they'd realize it's okay to apologize.

Anonymous said...

Let me add, that Gerard definitely did read Stafoo, and it made him mad as hell. So there's a pretty good possibility that he does read here. I've seen links to this place posted all over the fandom.

Siobhan (nsi) said...

Well, I remember the Uncle Fester and Nigel jokes and thinking about it it still makes me giggle, but I don't think that people could say that those harmless jokes about Gerard's broken blood vessel under the eye or him allegedly balding is justifying threats of violence and death. And since I don't think he reads this blog from whom should he've gotten the info that we made those jokes?

And after the umpteenth mocking of Lindsey's back bending, her tattoos, her uniform or whatever it was we used to mock I thought to myself that it's enough for me now and that there are more serious things to discuss.
And I think that most of the people here thought the same.

Siobhan (nsi) said...

Let me add, that Gerard definitely did read Stafoo, and it made him mad as hell.

Okay, but wasn't this another time for the band? I mean, that was the Revenge era, right? So I guess they still had more fan contact back then and cared what people were talking about them on blogs and forums.
What does Stafoo stand for, btw?

Anonymous said...

Shut The Fuck Up Gerard.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, Stafoo (which stood for stfugerard or Shut the Fuck Up, Gerard) first started back in the Revenge days. Fans have always made fun of his humpy back, his silly make-up, his sock-stuffed pants, etc. It was all in good fun, but after TBP, people started taking the band way too seriously.

Anonymous said...

And after the umpteenth mocking of Lindsey's back bending, her tattoos, her uniform or whatever it was we used to mock I thought to myself that it's enough for me now and that there are more serious things to discuss.

Exactly. After the offensive remarks on twitter, it just seemed like the jokes weren't funny anymore. A lot of us realized these people were even bigger douchebags than we thought, and that the whole band was involved in the douchebaggery. Suddenly I didn't feel like laughing at them anymore.

Siobhan (nsi) said...

What irks me is that even people who say that Gerard shouldn't have made that comment to me think that I'm a troll or that my tweets to him were out of line. Even the girl/woman who wrote Gerard that tweet he replied to with that #smashedface hashtag thinks that I'm just as bad as him for the things I tweeted him.

Anonymous said...

Nah, you tweeted him the truth. His pancake, coward ass couldn't take it, so like a big man, he threatens to hit you.

Anonymous said...

I think that girl just said she thought you were trolling to get the fangirls off her. And I really do think that some people think you are geewithoutlynz. They don't actually go back and read the tweets, they just believe what other fans tell them. They have a hive mind, you know.

Anonymous said...

Honestly? I think LexieWright was just trying to get attention. She kind of back pedaled a bit to the fangirls and she kept saying what a huge fan she is of the band. Then she posted pictures she drew of band related things for the fans to see.

I don't think she deserved what Gerard said to her at all, but I think she's using it to get attention.

kapunua said...

It's funny, I tweeted his stupid ass too and didn't get any backlash - but then he probably didn't see it. Pity.

I also feel sorry for Bandit. I was so lucky to have been brought up by parents that respect women. I think it's awful for girls to be brought up in such hate-speaking households. Well, girls and boys, really. It's destructive.

Siobhan (nsi) said...

I'm sorry about Geraldine Ferraro's death. A real pioneer!

Kapunua, I start to think that Gerard only read my tweet addressed to him in which I mentioned his 'pancake ass' getting beat. I guess he didn't bother to read all of my tweets to that person in context and thought I would threaten to beat his ass. I think that's why he reacted that way. Well, I can't be blamed for his stupidity.

Also, I agree with you about this LexiWright, anon. I already thought the same. She claims in her formspring that the attacks from the fan sheep didn't bother her, but I read that she was already back paddling only shortly after shit went down on Twitter and tried to get on the good side of the loons again. Now, she's being praised for standing up for her beliefs by the same nutsos who are sending me death threats.

kapunua said...

Well, I called him a cowardly manchild bitch, so. Guess that got lost amidst all the "LOL GEE UR SO KEWL" tweets.

Anonymous said...

Let's not with the use of 'bitch', people. Gendered insults like that are just like what MSI anbd MCR use.

Anonymous said...

Gerard was probably drunk when he made those tweets. I doubt he even remembers doing it.

kapunua said...

Hmm, I've never thought of "bitch" as gendered; I've always been an equal-opportunity insulter. ;D I think it applies just as easily to men as to women. Really it just means "whelping dog" I guess.

No, a bitch is a female dog and it's a gendered slur.

1:10 is right. It is a gendered slur.
That is the problem with some of you. The double standards. It negates your arguments.

You can't have it both ways.

Anonymous said...

The term 'bitch' never had the same meaning as the c-word, anon, and that is where your logic fails. It also has not been considered taboo nor has it been censored from print and other media in the same way.

Anonymous said...

Why do Gerard's defenders keep going back to the c-word anyway? It's not like that's the only thing he did, and most of the people who are upset with him are actually angry over the threat of violence in his twitter.

If we want to talk words, why not let's discuss Frank's insistence that the term N*gga is acceptable in everyday conversation?

Anonymous said...

Who determines if a slur is offensive? I think that's the question you have to ask.

If the group the word is used against considers it to be offensive, then I think you should respect their views and not use the term.

The word bitch was offensive 50 years ago, but it doesn't have the same meaning today that it did then. Some women might be offended by it, but they're pretty few and far between. I don't use the word around my Grandma, for instance, because she wouldn't like it.

But if I said the word cunt around my Grandma? She'd most likely pass out from shock. Same goes for the N word.

One day maybe words will not have the power to hurt any of us. That day has not come yet. Until then, I will not use the N word or the C word. If Gerard and Frank had half a brain between them, they would do likewise.

Anonymous said...

I still cringe at Frank's war jibe at Germany. What did he say? I think it was something like "What to you have to say about Germany?" and Frank said "Defeated". At the time I think Bob went "whoa". But a really poorly thought out comment from him.

I was ashamed of Frank for that one. Also he did a similar racial slur during a PR interview when he was saying about some get together he went to, and all the jokes that were said were quickly turning more racist (or words to that effect). I don't have the link but I am sure if people here are long(ish) term fans they would have seen it. It's a 5 part interview, around July/Aug 2007. Frank was wanting to repeat some of the jokes, and GW, did his "We are not gonna talk about that" line, which was absolutely the right thing to say. I think Frank has inherited some 'passed down' racism from older family members, perhaps? My Great Grandmother used to really embarrass me with some of her comments (that she didn't think were wrong) but she was born in 1904.

The Germany thing made me cringe as well. It was so typical of the type of crude, uneducated remarks that Americans sometimes make. Like the people on facebook who were saying that the earthquake in Japan was retribution for Pearl Harbor. WTF?

I don't think Lukas was in Independence Day. He was in Mars Attacks. You're thinking of that Duval person. He's kind of raggedy looking like Lukas, but not as talented.

But yeah, Lukas was awesome as The Pin.

I just remember James Duval as Frank in Donnie Darko.

He gets a lot of work, but nobody ever sees anything he's in.

Siobhan the scumbag is back on twitter.

Anonymous said...

I don't think that was called for.

Some of us (including myself) had differences with Siobhan, but I don't think anyone who posts here regularly would call her a scumbag.

Don't you have some MCR fanfic to read?

Anonymous said...

I wasn't referring to Siobhan, what made you think that? It was GW I was talking about.

Anonymous said...

I can't believe those assholes are trying to turn Sing into a trending topic with the Japanese earthquake.

My god, talk about scumbags...

Anonymous said...

It read like you were calling her a scumbag. Sorry, but you need to use more punctuation.

Anonymous said...

No its was the little boy i was talkin about. He's not in it very much. Anyway it wasn't JGL i looked him up on IMDB. But yea the older brother was frank in donnie darko and the woman who played the first lady in ID played donnie's mother.

Tom hardy beats Jgl though hands down :-)

Anonymous said...

Tom Hardy is hotter than just about everybody.

I think JGL is hot too, just a different kind of hot. I loved him in 500 Days of Summer. He was so damn adorable. That smile, those dance moves!

But yeah, I'll take smoldering hot T Hard, every time. :)

Anonymous said...

I loved Donnie Darko. I always liked Jenna Malone. Is anybody going to see the clusterfuck that is Sucker Punch?

I'm disappointed that it's getting such bad reviews. I wanted it to be an empowering film for girls. Zack Snyder just fails at everything he touches these days, unfortunately. :/

Anonymous said...

I'll never forgive Zack Snyder for fucking up Watchmen so bad. I'll never be able to hear Leonard Cohen's version of Hallelujah the same way again either.

Seriously, I'm a longtime poster here, and I don't have any love for Lindsey. But you are really getting on my nerves with the irrational Lindsey comments.

Anonymous said...

Anyone who can profiteer out of a song about pedophiles is a slimebag so I think the term is appropriate.

Anonymous said...

I don't think geewithoutlynz is for real. I think she's a sock who is trying to make Gerard's detractors look like they're JUS JELLUZ over his marriage.

I also think people can point to her and say, "See, everyone who hates Lindsey is in love with Gerard!" and then disregard any real criticism of MSI or Lindsey. I think that's what happened with Siobhan. People were calling her a troll because of geewithoutlynz.

Anonymous said...

And not irrational.

Anonymous said...

I think GWL is Lindsey herself.

Anonymous said...

I think that's a real possibility. Eliza and her friends concocted the oiheliza community on lj. What makes anyone think Lindsey is above doing the same thing?

Anonymous said...

I don't. I also think all the other ones are her friends. One of her photographer friends retweeted a slur against a fangirl and thought it was amusing, so she must be reading all the accounts.

Anonymous said...

I also think people can point to her and say, "See, everyone who hates Lindsey is in love with Gerard!" and then disregard any real criticism of MSI or Lindsey. I think that's what happened with Siobhan. People were calling her a troll because of geewithoutlynz.

Absolutely agree. I think it's an account created to deflect any real criticism about how disgusting their real behavior is.

Anonymous said...

Off topic...

I watched Mysterious Skin. It was disturbing but I don't think I'll have nightmares over it or anything. The worst part was the flashbacks at the end of what happened to the other kid and of course when JGL is raped. Some girls on tumblr were saying that part was hot, can you believe that shit? I think anyone who thinks that needs help.

Anyway, great film and thanks for the rec. I liked it more than Brick.

Anonymous said...

Why is it so hard to believe that there are fangirls out there who hate LynZ because they are jealous of her? I think most of her haters feel that way. I think Geewithoutlynz is very real. And scary.

Anonymous said...

"Some girls on tumblr were saying that part was hot, can you believe that shit?"

With all the morons out there defending Panty Shot, I'll believe just about anything.

Anonymous said...

6:07 I agree there are fangirls that dislike her for that reason but GWL is not one of them imo. I'm convinced it's Lindsey or one of friends behind the account.

Anonymous said...

I also think Lindsey loves being the center of attention and gets a kick out of juvenile fangirls hating her.

Anonymous said...

I suppose since Gerard's development seems to have arrested at age 15, it's plausible to think Lindsey could be that childish too.

They both need to grow up. They have a child for ffs.

Anonymous said...

It's more than growing up, they both seem to share the same personality trait of using people to get what they want.

kapunua said...

Things:

I wouldn't put it past someone like Lindsey to be her own troll, definitely not. You can't get much lower than playing in a band like MSI, so why would that present her with a moral problem? Not saying it's true, but I don't put it past her.

What's this about them trying to get their song trending and using Japan? Ugh, wait, you know what? I don't want to know. >_<

Tom Hardy is ACES, when it comes to straight up "I'd ride it like a mechanical bull" he's got it all over Joe. Which is not to say that Joe isn't the cutest boy ever with a side order of "hot when he talks" because he is. Yes to both.

Mysterious Skin: I've heard of people saying it was "hot" and the idea of id gives me indigestion, no lie. But you know what? It perfectly demonstrates how pervasive rape culture is. There is no sensitivity to how some people deal with the subject. It's so accepted as a fact of life (and of the internet) that some (very sad) people think it's okay to think of a realistic portrayal as "hot."

Meanwhile I spew vomit in a beautiful technicolor dream. :/

kapunua said...

LMAO, "it" not "id." Freud would take frantic notes and then go snort cocaine.

kapunua said...

On the subject of Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt:

I love me some Tom Hardy. I do. I think he is immensely talented and one of the most gloriously jump-worthy actors to come along in ages, but I have to say that I would choose Joe over him in a heartbeat.

I think Joe is one of those rare, once in a generation actors who has something indefinable -- a certain je ne sais quoi (yeah, I had to throw that in seeing as how he's such a Francophile ;p) that sets him apart from all the others. There's just something about the twinkle in his eyes and the slyness of his smile. He's one of those guys who has that easy sexuality that only comes from being totally comfortable in his own skin, and to me that's irresistible. I can't think of anyone else who has that, except maybe Robert Downey Jr., and it has taken him years to get to that point.

I honestly don't see how anyone who has seen JGL in (500) Days of Summer or guest-hosting SNL doesn't "get" JGL. I suppose the diff'rent strokes thing applies, but honestly, I think most people who don't "get" him haven't really given him a chance. He's so much more than "that kid from 3rd Rock".

Anyway. Just my opinion.

Anonymous said...

Fangirl much?

I'm pretty certain if JGL turns out to be a chauvinistic low life like GW, Kapunua would have some choice words about him. She's not a blind follower like the majority of MCR numbskulls.

Gerard and Lindsey Way: The gruesome twosome

Anonymous said...

Reclaiming 'bitch' to refer to yourself, and using it to refer to a man and therefore atrribute to him weak or inferior characteristics are two different things. Using the word to make Gerard seem like less of a man is a backward step, IMO.

Anonymous said...

Whatever.

Now let's hear your views on Gerard's #dieslow and #smashedface tweets.

Anonymous said...

They're shitty and misogynistic.

Anonymous said...

There's just something about the twinkle in his (JGL's) eyes and the slyness of his smile. He's one of those guys who has that easy sexuality that only comes from being totally comfortable in his own skin, and to me that's irresistible.

I agree with this so much. JGL is brilliant. You can't watch Mysterious Skin or Brick and not see that.

Although Mysterious Skin was anything but sexy, I was amazed at how sexy JGL's character was, despite how damaged. I had no trouble at all seeing why Michelle Trachtenberg and Jeffrey Licon's characters were both kind of hopelessly in love with him. He exuded a nearly intoxicating, if completely fucked up, sexuality in that film, which made the subject matter even more squicky. And that rape scene was horrific. You could feel the terror his character experienced when he tried to lock himself into the bathroom after he realized what was happening. It gives me chills just thinking about it, and I don't ever want to see that again. It was the furthest thing from 'hot'.

I much preferred Brick. Brendan was an intriguing character -- smart, capable, completely unyielding and persistent, yet vulnerable at the same time. That's the thing about JGL. He gives his characters so much more depth than the script does on its own. I love that about him, and apparently, Hollywood does too.

So yeah, you can put me down as another gushing JGL fangirl. But like the other one said, if he were to do a complete 180 and turn into a douchebag like GW, I'd have no problem turning my back on him. Just like I did GW.

Anonymous said...

Blah blah blah. Why not just turn this into a JGL fansite and be done with it.

Is it just me or does anyone else think all the JGL fangirls are Kapunua? So he paid you some attention, so what? He's only done one movie anybody cares about. Whoop.

Anonymous said...

It's just you.

March 27, 2011 5:54 AM said...

Wrong. I'm the person who recommended Brick to Kapunua in the first place.

Anonymous said...

I think it's the same three people who bring him up all the time, but whatever. Verita's already said she doesn't mind OT conversations, so I just learn to scroll.

kapunua said...

Eh? I saw Brick like two seconds after I saw Inception, but it wasn't a recommendation. I wanted to see it the second I heard about it. :) But if you recommended it to me even after the fact, good call! ^_^

Anonymous said...

I think MCR are trying to turn Sing into some sort of anthem for Japan, which is sad because the song is pretty crappy, but, on the other hand, at least they are doing something for them. I'm sure Japan would be grateful for any help they receive right now.

kapunua said...

Brenden is one of my favorite characters ever written for film. He's such a little smartass. Let it be known that I fangirl Rian Johnson as much as, if not more than Joe.

Is anyone else here following the production of Looper?

Or has anyone seen The Brothers Bloom? The main characters are con-artist brothers. The elder brother "writes" roles for the younger (Bloom) to play, and they con their way into people's lives and fortunes. At one point, a girl tries to kiss Bloom (in fact it's the gal who played Laura in Brick!) and he tells her, "You don't want to kiss me. You only think you want to kiss me, because he wrote me as the vulnerable anti-hero."

Rian Johnson owns this trope. No one does it like him, and the script for Looper is like his magnum opus that rides the Break The Badass trope for all it's worth. He wrote it with Joe in mind (the lead character's name is Joe, hehe.) I totally believe that no other directer in the world "gets" Joe like Rian does.

I pee myself every time Rian updates, I swear. It's already my favorite movie and it's not even finished yet. ^_^

kapunua said...

Let me add a caveat to this: If Joe--or really anyone--turned out to be even a third as sleazy, as hateful, as misogynistic, racist, or ignorant as Gerard, I'd walk away, too.

I wouldn't give him any of my money. I wouldn't take the money he's offering me. I would throw away the book he allowed me to be in and I'd get rid of all his movies.

The same goes for anyone.

Not if he slipped up and said a bad word - I say them all the time. Not if he was rude to someone a few times (we all are.) Not if he did something thoughtless or stupid (we all do.) Not if he smoked pot or got drunk. Not if he made some dumb mistake (I make them all the time.)

But if he even came close to the behavior that this disgusting band has shown, unrelentingly, for three years? Then yeah, he'd lose a fan and a supporter.

But do you know how much ignorance it would take? It's not like Gerard and Co. had a few mishaps and everyone was like "eff them." They've been consistently hateful and lacking in redeeming qualities for, what four years now?

People get tons of chances from me. Their assbag band was acting up for over a year before I was finally like "wow, suck it." Then it just got worse from there. It really takes a lot for me to throw my hands up in disgust and kick anyone to the curb. MCR quadrupled their quota of "bite me" very quickly.

Now, I just take pleasure in mocking them. ^_^

March 27, 2011 5:54 AM said...

Oh, sorry if I misspoke, Kapunua. I've recommended Brick to nearly everyone I come in contact with, so I thought I had probably recommended it to you too.

I'm just glad you liked it. :)

And yes, I adore Rian Johnson and will be on pins and needles until Looper comes out. I really think this one will get him mainstream recognition (even though anyone who knows anything about film making already thinks he's a genius).

I was blown away when I found out that Brick was his first feature film.

Anonymous said...

I didn't give up on MCR for a long time. I started thinking Gerard wasn't who he said he was during the Eliza era, but like kapunua said, I gave him lots of chances.

PR was a real eye opener. Then they took MSI out on tour. But I think the thing that really got me was when he told the girls in is audience to fuck themselves.

For the longest time I still held out hope that the other guys were decent human beings, but twitter has killed that too. They have all proven themselves to be hateful jerks, all but Mikey, and he just goes along so he can't be much different.

It took me a long time to get where I am with MCR, but I won't ever go back to being a fan again.

Anonymous said...

Taking MSI out on tour was the deal breaker for me.

Anonymous said...

For me it was when Gerard admitted to drinking again. That made it seem like the whole getting sober story he talked so much about in LOTMS was nothing but a marketing ploy. Also learning the band formed before 9/11. It's like he lied about everything.

Anonymous said...

Gerard admitting he was drinking again was like the penny dropping for me. It explained so much about how he turned into an insufferable dickhead during Projekt Rev and has gradually got worse since.

kapunua said...

8:03 You probably did! And I probably raved about how it was already in my top five and bumped some awesome film like Quills or Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. ^_^ (Which are still in my top ten.)

Yeah, I couldn't believe Brick was his first, it was so amazing!

I could talk about Looper all day, OMG.

Anonymous said...

I was kinda floored when he admitted he was drinking again. And the way he did it infuriated me. It was like, "Oh I'm drinking again, but it's no big deal. Sobriety is overrated." This, from a guy who once said if he ever took another drink it would be the end of everything.

The nonchalant way he just blew off sobriety after the things he said on LOTMS was staggering.

Anonymous said...

Like MCR or not, they are doing a wonderful thing to help raise money for victims in Japan and to help keep those victims in people's minds.

What they are doing is no different than what a lot of other artists are doing. Including JGL.

The are using their product to promote awareness and raise money for charity.

I don't see how anyone can fault them for that.

Anonymous said...

It's kinda hard to see them as doing anything wonderful after seeing them as the jackasses that they really are.

Granted, I would suspect them no matter what they did, but it seems to me that putting out a remix of their current single is an attempt to drum up sales for the original. Maybe I'm wrong and I hope I am. I kinda doubt it though.

Anonymous said...

The band is already donating a pair of tickets and backstage passes to be auctioned off. What more do you expect of them.

Anonymous said...

it seems to me that putting out a remix of their current single is an attempt to drum up sales for the original.

It totally is. This band has done everything in the world to get this crappy song in the public eye, from jumping in bed with Glee (ugh) to doing a promo for American Idol (double ugh). They think they've written a huge anthem and they'll do whatever it takes to make up for all the Vampire Money they lost out on. Including exploiting Japan.

#SINGitforJapan is pretty damn blatant self-promotion if you ask me.

Anonymous said...

I don't think it matters what or how much MCR does for charity. Unfortunately they're damned if they do and damned if don't.

Anonymous said...

I agree. Joe offered hitRECord buttons and did a promotional video challenging fans to help, but he didn't have people posting #hitRECordforJapan all over twitter. That would have been way uncool.

Anonymous said...

Selling buttons or other merch with your company's logo on it isn't self promotion?

How about charity concerts? Couldn't those be considered self promotion? Bands do advertise those concerts and they are seen by more than their usual audience.

Anonymous said...

MCR could have done anything else but promote their current single. They could have recorded another cover (like with Under Pressure) or done a free show or sold one of Frank's photos like they originally said they were going to do. But that wouldn't have done much for sales of their current record, now would it? Instead they chose something that would help them to make more money. Good business? Maybe, but it was still a bit of a dick move.

Anonymous said...

hitRECord is more of a project than a company. I doubt Joe makes much money from it at all.

Anonymous said...

Whatever. MCR could donate a million dollars and they'd still be a bunch of assholes.

Anonymous said...

JGL didn't promote selling his hitRECord buttons for charity on twitter at all? None of his fans promoted that on twitter? Are you sure?

I think he and his fans did and why shouldn't they? It was for a good cause just like #singitforJapan is for a good cause.

Anonymous said...

There really is no such thing as bad charity.

Anonymous said...

They just can't win with you people. They could cut their hearts out onstage and you would call it self-promotion.

Anonymous said...

^THIS

Anonymous said...

No, you're right. They can't win with us. They lost when they turned into a bunch of lying, self-serving assholes who make comments on twitter about aborting babies and smashing in faces.

Anonymous said...

9:42 for 1st 9:41

2nd 9:41 is probably right too.

kapunua said...

To clarify: Joe makes half on all HitRECord ventures that sell, but he puts most of that back into future projects. HitRECord doesn't make tons and tons. This year it made about $20K. Joe posts the spreadsheets on his site and asks people if they think it's fair. If everyone agrees, he signs a couple hundred checks. If someone disagrees, it's back to the drawing board. (That happened last time, when Wirrow rightly pointed out that he had remixed someone else's project and felt that they deserved more of his cut. Joe re-did the spreadsheets as per what Wirrow and others suggested.)

All charity helps. If people spend money towards MCR and it gets to Japan, that's awesome for Japan.

However, nothing can make me respect MCR. They've spent so ling being such hateful windbags, that I'm never going to be able to trust their motives - even if the outcome is to the good.

Anonymous said...

MCR doesn't deserve to win. They aren't good people, so even when they do a 'good' thing, it comes off wrong.

That's what happens when you act like a bunch of douchebags. People don't take you seriously when you do something good.

kapunua said...

As far as promoting HitRECord, and also promoting its efforts for Japan I just did so a half an hour ago.

It's because I'm proud of HitRECord.

I also am running a handful of auctions and have raised about $100 for GlobalGiving outside of HR, so.

You do whatever you can.

kapunua said...

The #songsforjapan hashtag has nothing to do with MCR. It's promoted, for one thing, but mostly it's just people naming their songs for Japan. Some people are being real asswipes about it, too. As per usual. :/

Anonymous said...

I don't see how people tweeting songs, artwork, or well wishes for Japan is going to help. Like some people said earlier, the people of Japan need food, water and shelter, not art, songs, well wishes, etc. And I doubt the people who are suffering have online access anyway. So what's the point of sending them good wishes online? Prayers, I can see. Artwork? Not so much.

Anonymous said...

Twitter = not so great a place to be looking for good wishes for Japan. People think it's funny to tweet songs like You Shook Me All Night Long.

That's every different shade of wrong.

Anonymous said...

Which is why MCR need to ask people to donate and maybe make an awareness video about the charities instead of plugging their own work and trying to make a profit off it.

kapunua said...

That's what I think. "Cying won't help you, praying won't do you no good." As Led Zeppelin said.

Japan doesn't need songs dedicated to them, they don't need art - unless the art directs people to some other way to help tangibly. This is slacktivism at its worst. "Oh - I'll just think about them. That'll help. Then I can pat myself on the back."

Umm, no.

Anonymous said...

Umm, no.

#Songsforjapan is actually a cd that is being promoted on twitter.

"Songs for Japan," a CD to support disaster relief efforts in Japan, will include songs by Bob Dylan, U2, P!nk and Lady Gaga.

Japan was devastated March 11 by an earthquake and tsunami.

More than 30 recording artists have contributed to "Songs for Japan," a compilation of 38 hits and classic tracks available on the iTunes Store for $9.99.

Proceeds from the album's sale will benefit the disaster relief efforts of the Japanese Red Cross Society, record labels Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Music said in a news release.

The track listing for the album includes John Lennon's "Imagine," U2's "Walk On," Bob Dylan's "Shelter From The Storm," Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Around The World," Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," Beyonce's "Irreplaceable," Bruno Mars's "Talking To The Moon," Katy Perry's "Firework," Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World)," Justin Timberlake's "Like I Love You," Madonna's "Miles Away," David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over," Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie," Bruce Springsteen's "Human Touch," Josh Groban's "Awake," Keith Urban's "Better Life," the Black Eyed Peas's "One Tribe," P!nk's "Sober" and Cee Lo Green's "It's Ok."

Anonymous said...

But MCR is going to release a special edition of Sing and donate all the proceeds to Japan, along with the video they're putting up of fans' well wishes and artwork.

kapunua said...

Yes, if they are selling the CD and the proceeds go to Japan, that's awesome.

But most people are just tweeting songs that they think apply to Japan's situation and hashtagging it #songsforjapan and it's pretty meaningless.

Anonymous said...

The #songsforjapan hashtag has nothing to do with MCR. It's promoted, for one thing, but mostly it's just people naming their songs for Japan.

Again no.

It's a cd that twitter is promoting which is why the promoted tag is next to the #songsforjapan tag.

Anonymous said...

Yes, but if you look on iTunes, MCR's version of Sing -- the one that they get all the proceeds for -- has gone back up the iTunes chart to something like #99. I'm thinking a lot of fans think the proceeds for this are going to Japan, when the "special remix" hasn't come out yet.
