A few links

I followed a few links from a link someone posted here, to ONTD. From there, there was a discussion about MCR's racism and sexism with posts to a Tumblr that had the same views about them.

It is nice to see that people are finally catching up to everyone here.

So here are the links for you.

MCR link on ONTD discussing Frank and Gerard's disgusting behavior.

That led to a Tumblr post detailing Gerard's "I'd smash your face" threat. (I personally do not have a Tumblr so I don't know how to repost that. But anyone with a Tumblr, please repost.)

Frank's racism even made it onto Yahoo questions. Here.

So there you go, we are not the only ones out there willing to call bands out on their disgusting behavior.

Hope everyone has a nice spring time!

I wouldn't put it past him to smack Lindsey though.

I think she would smack him first.

I believe that if a man will shamelessly threaten a woman in public with thousands of people watching, he would most definitely take it further in private if he thought he could get away with it. Gerard is a bully, a coward, and a woman-hater. Of course he's a threat to someone. It's just a case of wrong place, wrong time.

Anonymous said...

I don't Gerard would ever hit a women. He is all talk. I do think he is chauvinistic but I also think Lindsey is the dominant partner in their marriage.

Yeah, that's the feeling I get too. He's just a big blowhard.

Anonymous said...

It would be classic if Gerard did try and hit a woman and she hit him back and put him in the hospital. That would serve him right for being such a bully.

He probably would, but I doubt he could get away with hitting Lindsey. She's bigger than he is. Probably stronger too.

Maybe he'll do a stint as a runway model. Lol.

He's too short.

Anonymous said...

He only picks on sixteen year olds. He probably thinks he could take them.

Stronger or not, lots of women stay with violent men because they're trapped financially and emotionally in the relationship. It's very common and very sad.

And too humpy. Can't photoshop a person on the runway. :)

Yep, Lindsey has got him under her thumb.

True. Also, things like low self-esteem from having been taught that you aren't worth anything if you don't have a man.

Anonymous said...

It wouldn't surprise me if it were the reverse in reality and she is the one that mistreats him behind closed doors.

Given how emotionally abusive he was with Eliza (according to her), I don't think so. More likely he has Lindsey where he wants her: totally dependant on him for everything.

Something people should know. Calling me "fat" on twitter does not upset me in the least. I'm not a fataphobe, ageist, sexist, or racist. @Jessicka
web • 4/12/11

By your logic she has made this statement on twitter so therefore it makes it true. She is saying she is NOT a racist. Can't have it both ways. Either judge her for everything she tweets as a whole or don't judge at all. One @ response sent to a crazy MCR fan does not a racist make.

Lastly, I took out some of the offensive stuff but I did think this was a good argument as a few here were dwelling over a simple @ response Jessicka made to one MCR fan in defense of Lynz on twitter.

In her @ response she did not make reference to MSI or Lynz's involvement in the band. I believe all she said is that Lynz did not desereve the hate she got from said fan and fans like her. Indon't tuink she was addressing people who think Lynz is a racist? As we all know MCR fans do not hate Lynz or her child for being racist..? They hate her
because she stole their true love Gerard. Yuck!

After this I think my involvment with the JA subject can be over. It has been beaten to death by trolls. I would like to hear what people have to say about what is posted above though. After this, We have all pretty much said we can
agree to disagree on the JA front. At least the sane people
did.

I apologize about the typos in advance. LoL

Anonymous said...

I don't think so 9:48. Lindsey may not be intelligent but she seems to know how to manipulate situations to her advantage.

Anonymous said...

The sad thing about his relationship with Eliza was that the entire fandom at the time could see how fucked up the whole thing was. It was clear he only wanted her on his terms, and that she was left trailing after him like a can tied to the back of the tour bus. It was quite unsuprising when the whole story came out and the 'haters' who'd once been blacklisted by Eliza and Alicia's 'crew' were proven to have been correct afterall.

I have a feeling his 'relationship' with Lindsey is no different. Gerard never could keep a lid on his personal shit, and while his partners have to seek attention from everyone else but him to compensate, it's easy to read between the lines.

Anonymous said...

Jessicka is Lindsey's friend. Not her mother. I don't think she determines what Lindsey is "allowed" to do.

I know of two instances where Lindsey has called people fat. The "board kids" video and the incident with her sister. (The "crisp-eater" incident implied it, but didn't come right out and say it.)

Jessicka may very well not know about either of those things. I doubt she follows Lindsey's sister on twitter, and she probably doesn't trawl youtube looking for MSI videos.

Even if she does know, maybe she read Lindsey the riot act over them. We just don't know and can't make assumptions with limited knowledge.

Anonymous said...

Because sexism is acceptable when it's her friend and that friend's rich husband.

Anonymous said...

Lynz is certainly not allowed to call people fat. But here's what I think. I have yet ( me personally) seen Lynz call anybody fat except the crisp eater comment in the Taste it TV interview. Perhaps JA is blind to it too, who knows.? All I cab do is speculate. I follow very few people on twitter ( mostly friends) but I am still unable to see all of their updates or tweets.

The Maura Kelly article was widely publicized and you couldn't help be react.

Even my college roomate and my co-worker sent a letter out to Marie Claire in outrage over the article.

I disagree with you 10:12. These two share a very close relationship. If she is aware of the criticism leveled at Lindsey should would also be aware of other things.

You know, none of us is perfect. A lot of people overlook things their friends do simply because we like them. It's human nature. We let our friends get away with doing things we would give other people hell over.

I don't know what's in Jessicka's mind. All I know is, that from the things I see of her, she's an all right person. I don't think she's infallible, and I think she has lousy taste in friends. Other than that, she seems okay.

Even if you share a close friendship it does not mean you see online interviews about that person. My dear friend writes a very popular blog but I have yet to read. Our friendship is on a daily real life basis, so I tend not to invade her Internet space. I have feeling since LW and JA share a studio they don't read each other's past press and quotes? Possibly to JA's detriment?

And like the other anon said before, maybe Jessicka doesn't let Lindsey get away with calling people fat. Maybe she told her she thought it was wrong.

We have no way of knowing what transpires between the two of them in private.

kapunua said...

Let me put it this way, about Gerard's tendencies. I know people IRL who "joke around" like this about violence against women. First of all, it shows disrespect for women in general. "I'd smash your face in" and "I'll call a 16 year old girl a c---" just shows a profound lack of respect for women. And in real life, even if my paths do cross with those of people like this, I keep a HUGE distance between them and me. Not out of fear, but because I have too much respect for myself to really name them "friends."

Also, because that sort of lack of respect can often grow, and grow, and grow. Look at Mel Gibson. He started out much like Gerard is now, with "just words", right? He called a female cop "sugartits" like it was some kind of joke. Oh, haha, how funny, just words. Yet his lack of respect was apparent. And look at him now.

I think it's the same as Gerard, and if it takes until he's in his fifties, totally bald and sporting a crazy beard, this tendency he has to "joke around, LOL, violence against women, hehe it's just WORDS," is going to bloom into something real. You either grow out of that kind of crap, or you don't.

If you happen to have people around you who aren't afraid to call you on that stuff--you know, like, people who call themselves feminists?--then maybe you can start to think, "Oh wow, maybe I'm being a huge turd here and I should rethink my life." But, clearly, Gerard doesn't have those people.

As far as Jessicka Adams, I don't know who she is, I don't know what her twitter is or anything. All I know is what I can glean from this board, and it's that she claims to be a feminist, yet she publicly has no problem with MSI's lyrics or Gerard's hateful behavior.

Myself, I ran into this kind of behavior once too often, and I did publicly denounce it. YES, it cost me a friend or two. But, no, I don't regret speaking up.

Actually, we sort of can. Because she's put herself out there publicly as a feminist, but apparently she remains good friends with the opposite of feminism, then yeah, I'd say she's given herself the responsibility of speaking out against: LOL CHILD RAPE IS HILARIOUS jokes, calling people fat, and a grown man threatening adolescent girls.

You don't get to choose your battles when you were the one who picked up the flag, sorry. You can't say, "Well, I'll speak out against it publicly when it's this random person, but not when it's my famous friend."

That's just lame.

Jessicka is a name on the scene and has been friends with Lindsey for years. I find it hard to believe that after meeting her socially, she wouldn't have found out any more information about her band and just become good friends with her. She more likely just ignores her friend's behavior in exchange for having another female friend in a band.

That's what I don't understand, some people here are saying we don't know the full picture but she is so vocal with those that display prejudices and she goes out her her way to make people know about it, yet when her friends display the very same prejudices it's almost as if she it didn't happen.

Honestly why bother.?MSI seems done. Lynz seems to have moved to her "art career". Why beat a dead horse?

Anonymous said...

It's about a pedo wanting to rape a five year old and talking about 'touching' her. One of the lyrics is 'Life has meaning when she spreads her legs'. I think she's also called a 'bitch' at one point.

MSI may be 'done', but their songs will always be there for all posterity.

They are not done. Lindsey has been open about them doing something else together as a group.

Anonymous said...

Okay, I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here for a moment. To me, Panty Shot is written from the perspective of a wannabe pedo who is looking at "panty shots" of young girls on the internet and getting off on them. It illustrates how vile such things are.

Now I'm not going to compare Jimmy Urine to Vladimir Nabokov, certainly. But I think maybe Jimmy's intent was to show how vile people can be, much the same as the book Lolita does. I don't think it works though, because 1) his audience is too unsophisticated to understand; they're more of the "LOL, child rape," mentality, and 2) he comes off as such a buffoon and the song is so poorly written.

I think the band took a lot of criticsm about the song, and that's why they no longer play it.

Also, please understand, I'm not an MSI fan. I think the song is vile. I'm just trying to understand how this band justifies in their minds putting out something so vile.

Anonymous said...

No, the band do it for shock value, which is why they sing songs like Clarissa which is about raping Melissa Joan Hart, and her brother having sex with her.

Anonymous said...

I think they do it for shock value too.

Anonymous said...

I don't think they are condoning child molestation, but I do think they're going for shock value. They're exploiting child molestation, much in the same way that procedural tv shows exploit crime -- for entertainment.

As far as I know, Jessicka Addams was brought up her some time ago because she's somewhat known for being part of the so-called Riot Grrrl movement and for calling herself a feminist and yet be a good aqcuaintance or friend of Lindsey's.
That's why people started discussing her here.

I never knew that Jared Leto was friends with Gerard Way. I know that they sent each other friendly tweets about some award either Leto or Way had won, but I don't know if this constitutes friendship or rather colleagueship.

I don't like Leto, never did. I'm not interested in his music. I liked him in 'My so-called life' and 'When we were kings' and I watched both long before he started his musical career. He's often been called out here in Germany by MTV moderators or music mags for being a rude and arrogant asshole.
Same with Billie Joe Armstrong. Green Day bores me to tears and if that assholes thinks it's cool to refer to people as 'pussies' then I'm even more happy that I never spent a dime on his shitty music.

I don't know why this makes me a hypocrite or the blog sexist and hypocritical and it leads to people generalizing like crazy and call us all faux feminists?
You only read a few people's opionions and you can't even safely say that some of those anonymous posters weren't posting more than once to make the blog look bad. After all, apart from a handful of people everyone here is posting as anonymous so it is quite hard to know if those people are regular posters or trolls who seek pleasure in stirring up shit.

If one disappointing moment on a blog makes you not believe in feminism anymore then I pity you and you most likely weren't interested in fighting sexism to begin with. So, bye!

Also, I'm just so saddened at what I had to read here (and I'm pretty sure that only girls and women post on this blog). I'm also addressing this in my new entry I'm going to post tomorrow (hopefully) that I just can't understand how the worship of one single man whose infatuation most of you will grow out of in a few months or years make you so unappreciative towards a movement, namely feminism, you can and will only benefit from. You behave as if we're trying to steal something from you instead of trying to open your eyes about nobody having the right to disrespect you for being female. I just can't understand this?
It's not as if any of you can say with certainty that they will never have to experience misogyny in their life and thus think that feminism is superfluous for them.
It's not as if you can say with certainty that you will never get raped, sexually harrassed or have disadvantages at your workplace for being a woman i. e. getting paid less as a man with the same qualification etc.
Is it really that the appreciation of a man and being seen as desirable and low maintenance by said man is all that matters to you?

We still have a long road ahead of us.

I believe so, too. Also, I think that many of them are too scared to speak up because it is not appreciated by men. Girls and women who complain are 'just not sexy' and if you don't want to be replaced by another girl you'll have to learn to keep your mouth shut.
Men who complain have something important to say. Women who complain are 'high maintenance' and hard to get laid. Why bother if the next hot chick who knows when to keep her trap shut waits around the corner?

I agree whole-heartedly. And I'm sorry to say that when I was a teen, I was the same way. I listened to bands like Motley Crue and stuff like that, which objectified women, sometimes violently. I thought that was just the way it was. And at the time (I was fifteen,) I figured I may as well just be like those women they were talking about in those songs.

It really wasn't until I got into college and expanded my musical tastes that I understood how degrading this was.

I kind of hope that at least some of the younger MCR fans will outgrow this, and not only that, but look back on their fandom and realize that they are so much better than that.

I was married for a long time. After my husband died I swore I'd never remarry.

My life is much happier and more fulfilling now than it ever was when I was married.

Anonymous said...

I don't want to get married either, even though I have a boyfriend right now. From everything my married friends tell me, almost from the day you get married things change. They complain that their husbands are lazy and that they bear almost all the responsibility for child-rearing and household chores, even though they also work outside the home.

Who needs all that extra work?

Anonymous said...

Are you seriously saying you're glad your HUSBAND died? You are a sad person. it's true, the people on this blog are LOONIES.

Anonymous said...

Are you seriously saying you're glad your HUSBAND died?

Not what I said.

Even though I loved my husband, being married was not easy. After he died, I couldn't imagine starting over with someone else because it's just too much work.

I wish he had not died, but it wasn't until after he did die that I realized I had not been all that happy in my marriage.

Life is complicated. Nothing is black and white, and you must be either very stupid or very young if you don't realize that.

Very much a Mayo troll is more like it.

I know so many women who aren't happy in their marriages, yet they stay anyway because they feel trapped.

I think marriage is an outdated institution.

What a horrible thing to say to a person who is widowed, 4:17. You're an asshole.

Anonymous said...

Oh, but widows are supposed to spend the rest of their lives wailing and gnashing their teeth. Heaven forbid they go out and find fulfillment in life without that MAN to make them whole, right?

Maybe 4:21 should have thrown herself on her husband's funeral pyre.

/sarcasm

Anonymous said...

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks, anon. I will put tags on my posts then, although it will always be the same ones just as: MCR, clowns, idiots, imbeciles, comedy gold, hypocrisy galore etc.

LOVE THIS!

Anonymous said...

That doesn't fly with me. And it smacks of "It's bad if you do it, but okay if my famous friends do it."

Absolutely, one set of rules for one group of people, another for her friends.

Bullshit! More speculation.

Prove it.

6:44 has their opinion and you have yours 9:02.

Anonymous said...

But Jessicka proves it herself. She publicly calls other people out on sexism, racism, violence, fat phobia etc. but she does not publicly call out her famous friends. There's all the proof you need.

Anonymous said...

Who is this woman? She can't be a serious music journalist if she doesn't even know that it takes sellling 1 million copies in the USA to earn platinum status.

http://www.therave.com/theravetv.asp?videoid=278

That's just sad and sloppy journalism and reporting.

Anonymous said...

So DD has sold over one hundred thousand copies? That's pretty decent IMO.

Anonymous said...

Not compared to TBP it ain't.

Anonymous said...

It isn't compared to TBP you're right. But TBP wasn't just about the music, it was the whole concept that these songs were steeped in. I'm from the UK and TBP was HUGE here, it came at the time when 'emo' was becoming a real craze and I think this was one of the major contributing factors to TBP's success, certainly over here at least. TBP tapped into that, it became synonymous with this new trend.

I think that's where DD has failed. It hasn't captured the imagination or ideals of any one group of people, it can't really be defined by a genre. The Killjoys thing just hasn't caught on.

Anonymous said...

Plus the fact that the band members themselves seem to have ditched the whole 'killjoy' concept like a hot rock since SING flopped.

Anonymous said...

Lol. So much for the moron who kept saying that DD sold, what was it? 1,216,000 copies by the end of January on Wikepedia.

LMAO.

Anonymous said...

Oh well, the next MScr album should be released in a few months...

Anonymous said...

It may not have sold as much as TBP, but I think it still did well. DD may not have been a hit, but it wasn't a flop either.

Anonymous said...

Of course it wasn't a flop by other band's standards, but the problem is, DD didn't bring in any new fans. When people get sick of the band after this record, there aren't any new fans lining up to buy the next album. MCR had the chance to redefine themselves and they chose to put costumes back on and role play again. It didn't work, and made them even more of a joke with most of the rock world.

DD hasn't even sold as much as Three Cheers did. It hasn't gone gold in the US (500,000 copies), whereas Three Cheers went platinum.

Hello everyone!

Thanks again for telling me that thing with the tags.

Kapunua, thanks for the tip! I added feminism to my tags.

Oh, I wanted to add that as of March 23th Danger Days has sold 244.000 copies in the U. S. of A.

Anonymous said...

LOL. Looks like they've got a long way to go before they reach that Platinum staus.

Anonymous said...

They might have sold more if it wasn't for illegal downloading. A lot of artists would perform better if it wasn't for that.

Anonymous said...

The really big rock acts are still selling well, like Foo Fighters, Linkin Park and KOL. Mumford & Sons are a very young band, and they're killing MCR saleswise. Yeah, everyone has taken a hit with illegal downloading, but most bands have loyal fans who will support them by buying their records, even if they can get them illegally.

Anonymous said...

MCR has loyal fans, but they spend most of their money on plane or bus tickets and hotels, following them from town to town. Unfortunately, those people don't have any money left to buy much in the way of expensive merch and limited edition cds and vinyls.

Also, trending on twitter is not a very good measure of how much money a band makes, kind of like those MTV polls. It just means that your fanbase is very young or has no life (and therefore probably very little money to spend) so they're constantly on the internet.

How much does a record have to sell to go and platinum in the US? Is it a million?

Anonymous said...

I just listened to Lindsey on speakerphone on Jimmy and Chantal's webchat. The woman is actually making jokes about the tsunami in Japan. What a nasty piece of work she is.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I heard that too. Was she saying about how she would have been able to stop it with the power of her mind or something?

Anonymous said...

Platinum in the US is a million. Gold is half a million.

Anonymous said...

What? Do you have a link?

Anonymous said...

Is there a recording of Lindsey saying those things?

Anonymous said...

Right at the start after they manage to get her on speakerphone.

Anonymous said...

Her actual words: 'Fuck the tsunami. Who cares?'

What a wonderful woman she is.

Anonymous said...

Lindsey: "If you (Jimmy) were wearing a wizard outfit and I was dressed up as a unicorn, we would probably be, fucking, touring in Japan right now. Fuck the tsunami. Who cares?" *laughter*

Chantal: "You would have stopped that tsunami with your powers."

Jimmy: "Yeah I would've put a hex on that tsunami and then rode off on you."

Lindsey: "We would have fixed it with our magical powers!"

Jimmy: "Made rainbows"

*Chantal laughs*

I don't think she meant it in a bad way. She just isn't all that bright.

Anonymous said...

Gross. How fucking disrespectful for those people who've not even been able to recover the bodies of their families yet.

Anonymous said...

You don't joke about shit like that. It's wrong. I don't care how thick she is.

Anonymous said...

Thousands of people dead in a matter of minutes. Children killed. Hundreds swept out to sea never to be seen again. Fucking hilarious!

Anonymous said...

Vapid, evil cow. Totally fucking disgusting. How detatched from reality she must be in her rich LA lifestyle to ever consider using something like that for humour.

Anonymous said...

I don't care how fucking dumb you are, no-one should joke about something like that. I guess her #prayforjapan tweets were all bullshit to make her stupid ass look better. Shame on her.

Oh, okay. Yoga teachers who tell her she's "not doing right" are "just jelluz" because she's more flexible than they are.

Is there no end to this woman's stupidity?

Anonymous said...

*not doing it right

Anonymous said...

Making light of the tsunami and then going on to talk at length about her life (which basically consists of going to the same studio every day to fingerpaint and then coming home to play with a bunch of stray cats because her husband is away on tour) really just shows how this idiot of a women has really no clue about anything. Why would anyone think that was an okay thing to joke about?

Anonymous said...

They're probably 'jus jellus' because she gets to go home (or rather doesn't, because he's away on tour) to stinky 'I like to threaten women with violence' Gerard Way.

Hint to Lindsey: making fun of a natural disaster while your husband (you know, the one who pays for you to sit on your ass in your house and 'studio' all day) is trying to use said natural disaster as a springboard to promote his failing album isn't the smartest way to go about protecting your interests. We call that 'fail'.

Anonymous said...

I still would have thought it sick and disgusting and an incredibly dense thing but if it had just been 'fuck the tsunami' I could have taken it in the context of the cruel 'joke' about touring that she was making. It wouldn't have excused it or changed my opinion on how wrong it was, but I would have shuck my head and though, 'wow, this woman is stupidand ignorant.' It's the 'who cares' that follows that is truely vile. That's not just ignorant it's downright heartless.

I would say I'm shocked but the sad thing is I'm not. Looks like she really can't distance herself from her MSI personna- I don't think it's any coincidence that she said these things while speaking with JU. It's like when people lose their accent after moving town, but once they get back with others who speak the same way...well, it comes out stronger than ever.

Anonymous said...

I agree. I think she goes into 'MSI mode' when she gets around Jimmy. It's obvious that she's not going to ever change, so I guess it's a good thing for her that Gerard dropped his good guy image.

veritavenom said...

New post, very short though.

I think everyone should know she said this. Tweet, tumblr, blogs, whatever. Because her words are disgusting.

Anonymous said...

Get over it and get your head out of your ass. Gerard Way has changed and has become a bonifide douchebag. Yeah, he's a father I get that, or the sound is changing, but come on! Gerard saying he liked Never Say Never? I don't understand why any of you 'killjoys' can understand that. Personally, fuck Gerard Way for even coming up with the concept because you killjoys are more vicious than any fan base I have seen of MCR and supposedly the MCRMY...yeah right. If I had a nickel for every time I heard that one I'd be rich as hell.
