Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :D

I've been made aware of someone on LiveJournal using the name "VeritaVenom" to post MCR fics.

I want to make clear that, not only is this person NOT me, but that it's likely a troll with an ax to grind. You have to admit that having an MCR fan with this name is a bit too much to be coincidence.

I hope you all realize by now that I'm definitely not one for writing or even reading fics, and I have nothing whatsoever to do with those bands or their fandom. Aside from the fact, obviously, that this blog is A Big Deal in the minds of their fans.

I am flattered and surprised that this blog has become big enough to be something of a legend. I'm a little gratified that it still inspires people like you guys and apparently upsets enough fangirls/boys that we are still in their headspace.

VertiaVenom, meaning THIS blog, the real VeritaVenom, (not the shabby LJ fangirl copy), the original... is not even me.

It's YOU. VeritaVenom is you.

Same for Gerard. I would have had no problem with Lindsey if she hadn't been in MSI and Lindsey and if Gerard hadn't let MSI influence his music.

Whoa. Fail comment. Let me reword:

Same for Gerard. I would have had no problem with Lindsey if she hadn't been in MSI and if Gerard hadn't let her and MSI influence MCR's music.

Let's send MCR to Egypt. Just one look at four colorfully dressed middle-aged men holding ray guns and order will be restored.

See? Even MCR knows what sort of fan base they have. Wonder what the fans make of Frank calling them "over-privileged brats".

Anonymous said...

"A true rock band is a band that writes songs that are truly special and plays them live.

A song about running away with your wife and writing shit on your arm is truly special? Lol.

Anonymous said...

Where does he get off calling his own songs "special"? What does he think makes them so fucking special? The stupidity of the lyrics? The synthesizers? He's an idiot.

Anonymous said...

MCR is so dangerous their music is featured on Glee and in AI promos. They're so dangerous they appear on Japanese game shows.

LMAO. Do you think they know what the word "dangerous" means? Cuz, they keep using it, but not in the right context.

Anonymous said...

If he's trying to say that they are the only band taking risks and being controversial he's wrong. They are far from it. Sounds more like the things the man he wants to be, namely Jimmy Urine, would say though in a different way.

Anonymous said...

All he seems to be doing is saying a bunch of shit to brand themselves as different to other bands and mainly sell their music. Just like other bands do. Jimmy would be soo proud.

Anonymous said...

Just like the "we save lives" message, it's now "we're dangerous", blah blah.

Same thing, different format, same means to an end, imo.

Anonymous said...

If he's trying to say that they are the only band taking risks and being controversial he's wrong.

Gerard sounds like he thinks the world revolves completely around him. The things he says are just so idiotic and egotistical. I don't understand why anyone lets him speak. Ever.

Anonymous said...

Same thing, different format, same means to an end, imo.

Exactly. And it has no meaning whatsoever, except that the band wants to sell records, merch and concert tickets.

Anonymous said...

The things he says are just so idiotic and egotistical. I don't understand why anyone lets him speak. Ever.

Because in the music industry the idiotic and the egotistical get noticed.

Anonymous said...

Also helps to have a completely dense wife inked with poultry, skulls and whatnot, to generate incessant arguing and bring more attention to the band, therefore creating an image that separates them from other bands in the same category and sell more music.

Imo.

Anonymous said...

therefore creating an image that separates them from other bands in the same category and sell more music.

Um...

They need to come up with a different strategy for selling more music, because this one ain't working. :)

Anonymous said...

Same category? LMAO.

I don't know of any other bands who fit into the "dangerous" electro-pop punk power rangers with rayguns category.

Anonymous said...

I think that's a gimmick. Remember they were "emo" while it suited them and sold records and merch.

11:43 AM, hate all you want. But don't cross the line into mockingly wishing harm on another person, or making light of real, dangerous and painful situations. Apathy, indifference and cruelty? You just became Jimmy Urine. Sad day.

Anonymous said...

Danger Days isn't exactly burning up the sales charts, so I don't think their strategy is working.

Anonymous said...

Not 11:43, but I didn't see anything harmful in that comment. I think the original poster was being sarcastic, saying that MCR was so "dangerous" they would scare everyone involved into backing down.

Anonymous said...

Didn't Gerard once suggest sending cupcakes to Kim Jong-il? Nobody complained that he was making light of the nuclear weapons situation.

Why so serious?

Anonymous said...

!:39. There is no way you can compare the comment that anon made to Jimmy Urine.

You are talking about a person who would trivialize a serious and devastating crime and market it to an audience to bring attention to his crappy band.

I read that comment with it's intent, as sarcastic, and compared the ridiculousness of what GW thinks is dangerous to a truly dangerous situation.

Anonymous said...

I read that comment with it's intent, as sarcastic, and compared the ridiculousness of what GW thinks is dangerous to a truly dangerous situation.

That's exactly how I read it too.

Gerard's insistence that MCR is so ~dangerous is preposterous, given all the real dangers in the modern world. People don't listen to music to get a sense of danger. If anything, they need something to escape into, which is why so many kids are listening to pop right now.

The teenies want people like Justin Bieber. Older kids are listening to Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, etc. I don't really see a place for a band as ~dangerous as MCR.

There wasn't much of a place for the Sex Pistol's during their time, either.

Oh no you didn't.

You didn't seriously just compare My Chemical Romance to the Sex Pistols.

Lol for days.

There wasn't much of a place for the Sex Pistol's what?

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. :D

Hocking said...

Sid Viscious would tear Gerard Way apart and feel no remorse.. but than again.. If you took a time machine and put Gerard into that scene (the london-new york scene of the 70s/80s) they would just tear him apart.. any one of those bands. I also don't think he would know what to do with someone like Joey Ramone or even a young Joan Jett

Anonymous said...

MCR has about as much in common with the Sex Pistols as Gerard did with Iggy Pop.

MCR are a bunch of cupcakes. They are not edgy. They are not dangerous. They're just a bunch of nearly over the hill wannabes trying to leave behind their emo pin-up boy image. Had they been around during that era they wouldn't even have rated an also-ran.

Anonymous said...

For some reason when I read "over-privileged brats", I thought of Lindsey fangirl, Charlie.

Hm, Odd.

Anonymous said...

Now you're compairing Princess Gee to Iggy fucking Pop?!

That is just bat-shit crazy.

Anonymous said...

I iz so scared!

Anonymous said...

Had they formed today, I don't think the Sex Pistols would have got very far by today's music industry.

They probably would have their image cleaned up by the music marketing gurus and made to look like sulking emo pretty boys with shocking lyrics to market themselves as a new radical band.

Lynz is NOT pregnate. A bomb like that would be all over Twitter.

And clearly Princess Gee is "Not O-effing-Kay". It's just like that Europe tour all over again. The man clearly needs help, or to sober his ass back up.

And I'm not saying that to be mean, I'm saying it because I really hope he gets it. Clearly something is very wrong in his so-called perfect world...

How do you know she's not? Maybe they will have their publicists announce it again. Good publicity for the tour.

Anonymous said...

No one knows if she is pregnant or not. And honestly, do any of us really care? It's not Earth shattering news for a married couple in their mid 30's to be expecting their second child. Infact it is fairly run of the mill, ordinary, expected stuff.

I'm more interested in commenting on that ^ rather shit performance of I'm Not OK? Man, that was poor. A little excitement please? Or, not, as the case may be.

Anonymous said...

Gerard always said he wanted 6 kids.

Gerard never said he wanted to have 6 kids. Why do you always come here and say that?

^This. I remember him always saying that he was afraid of bringing kids into a post 9/11 world.

I could maybe see Frank saying he wanted six kids. Not Gerard.

Exactly, that's why I think she could be. He wouldn't be so excited touring in different countries for a couple of months. He probably wants to be with Lindsey since should might be pregnant again.

Yes he did. Personally I thought that was just a big dig at Eliza. There's no need to say it publicly otherwise.

Anonymous said...

Didn't he say somewhere that Lindsey was the only person in the world he would have kids with?

He did and that was after Lindsey was already pregnant with Bandit. Before that, he was always kind of anti-kids. And he never said he wanted 6 kids with Lindsey.

Anonymous said...

So every time Gerard has a diva moment it's because Lindsey is pregnant?

LMAO. They must have about a thousand kids by now.

Anonymous said...

For Kapunua whenever she stops by...

I finally saw Manic last night. I rather liked it. I thought some of the characterizaions of the kids were a bit over the top, but overall I was won over by the gritty realism of the film. Don Cheadle was amazing, and JGL's performance was spot on; he managed to portray repressed rage in such an understated, convincing manner. Given that he was only about nineteen when that film was made makes it even more impressive. He's just all kinds of talented and awesome, isn't he?

It was also interesting to see him and Zooey Deschanel together so long ago (and playing such drastically different parts than they did in 500 Days of Summer).

Anyway, next on my list is Killshot. It's on HBO tomorrow. It doesn't look like my cup of tea, but I'm interested to see what JGL did with that role.

Have you seen it?

kapunua said...

I liked Manic, though I agree that a lot of the parts written for those kids were kind of pat. Zooey was really great in that one, too.

I am struggling so hard to get through Killshot, but honestly, I can do about five minutes at a time before I have to quit. It's so bad. ^_^;;

Anonymous said...

^ They said they'd tour this record for 2 yrs. So that's Oct 2012. Seems a very long time.

Anonymous said...

They really didn't tour all that long with TBP. The record came out in the fall of 06 and they toured until May of 08 -- less than two years.

Yet they act like they toured on it forever. I doubt they'll get two years mileage out of Danger Days.

Hocking said...

I doubt they'll get a year out of it

Anonymous said...

I know, and they keep saying they toured it for 2.5 yrs in interviews, it's annoying. Anyone can do the math. (I'm sure they think we are stupid and can't follow dates and such). That was the excuse for why they were so exhausted etc, etc. Other bands tour way more, and you don't see them moaning about it.

The reason they were fucked up at the end of their last tour is becasue GW became an insufferable asshole and pissed everyone else off. Any job is shit when you have to work with a fuck head.

I know, and they keep saying they toured it for 2.5 yrs in interviews, it's annoying. Anyone can do the math. (I'm sure they think we are stupid and can't follow dates and such).

That has always bothered me too. It's like Gerard thinks he can just re-write things to suit him and fans will just accept it as fact.

I think he is just trying to explain away his awful behavior on that tour.

Anonymous said...

Someone looks like they're developing drinker's bloat.

Anonymous said...

Nah, you look fine to me.

Anonymous said...

lol

Anonymous said...

Gerard's appearance is somewhat worrying. He blows up seemingly overnight, especially his face. I know from experience that an unhealthy diet and/or too much alcohol, sugar or even coffee can sometimes cause a person to retain water, which gives them an overall bloated look. Cocaine sometimes will do the same.

The thing that's so worrying to me is how he alternates between scary skinny and bloated. To an outside observer it does look a bit like coke bloat.

Anonymous said...

I stopped worrying about the fool a long time ago. It's his life, and he'll do what he wants. He's the one who will have to pay the price.

Hocking said...

i don't like him, i don't like his wife, but there's a kid involved in all of this. If he is using coke then he's shortening his life span. He's risking walking her down the aisle, seeing his first grandkid, seeing her graduate highschool/college/whatever. My dad's a baby boomer, he was in his 50s when i was born, I know he may not be able to walk me down when its my turn to get married, and i would hate for that to happen to another kid. Gerard has no excuse for missing those things in her life and he's fucking it up. He needs to grow up and realize that there are other people involved in his descisions

Anonymous said...

He's risking everything by drinking again, regardless of if he's back on drugs again. Starting on the booze after you sobered up is basically flirting with a loaded gun. He may think he has a great support network and a security net for his issues now, but that won't mean jack shit when his addiction starts to take hold again.

Anonymous said...

None of this has ever been about disliking Lindsey for me, other than the possibility that Gerard might have changed his lifestyle to fit in with hers. It always worried me after I read that article about Pro Rev where Lindsey and Jimmy were talking about Lindsey stashing booze under her bunk and drinking for breakfast. And then Gerard started acting so different and now he's admitted to drinking again.

I don't particularly hate MSI and I don't hate Lindsey. I do hate that Gerard changed so much and I hate worrying about what's going to happen with him. But I guess that's stupid. He's a grown man and I can't change him. Still, it's hard not to worry when there is a child involved.

Anonymous said...

He's risking everything by drinking again, regardless of if he's back on drugs again.

This. I've lived with an addict before and I know that they can't control themselves. Once they break sobriety with one substance, it's only a matter of time before they start in with another. That whole "I can control it now" is just the person kidding himself. It's denial, which is the most dangerous part of addiction.

Anonymous said...

People with addiction problems are also experts in hiding the level of their use or the effects of what they're using from those around them. Gerard managed to keep the extent of his cocaine abuse hidden from everyone in his inner circle for almost a year. Think about that. If anything it would be easier for him to do that again now, given that they have more space and privacy on their tours as a higher-earning band.

Anonymous said...

^This, to your whole comment.

My husband was shooting up for nearly a year and I didn't know it. I knew he was drinking and taking pills, but I had no idea the extent of his addiction for a very long time. And when confronted with it, he denied, denied, denied. He went from saying "I can never touch a drop of alcohol again" to "I know what I'm doing. I know my body. I can handle it."

He couldn't.

Anonymous said...

People with addiction problems are also experts in hiding the level of their use or the effects of what they're using from those around them. Gerard managed to keep the extent of his cocaine abuse hidden from everyone in his inner circle for almost a year. Think about that.

People who say things like, "Oh Lindsey and the guys in the band would never let Gerard get out of hand," make me crazy. As if Lindsey or the guys in the band have any control over him at all.

Supposedly, Gerard was totally out of control for a year and the guys in the band either didn't know or couldn't do a damn thing about it. It would be the same way now.

Lynn said...

I don't think that addicts are necessarily good at hiding it, i think the people around them are good at ignoring it.

Lynn said...

I don't say that as an insult to the people ignoring it because i think addicts are selfish. It doesn't just involve them it hurts everyone around them. Yes, you should give them a bottom line and tell them to stop, but you have to deal with the fallout too. Some people are not ready to do that.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you Lynn. Some people ignore it because they want to avoid conflict, others because they don't understand it's destructive nature and don't take it seriously.

Anonymous said...

I think it's very possible for an addict to hide the extent of his/her substance abuse problem for a while. The signs are there, but these people are very adept at explaining them away. But eventually it becomes impossible to cover the addiction up.

Even so, when the people around an addict do know the extent of the problem, there is very little they can do about it. Walking away is the only alternative.

Anonymous said...

If they want to "do" themselves, they will and no one can stop them, only themselves. You walk away for your own emotional survival.

Anonymous said...

Users can't help other users stop using.

Fact.

Anonymous said...

If MCR implodes it will be because of all 4 members of the band not just Gerard.

All of this placing all the blame on 1/4 of the band is bullshit.

I've seen people holding Gerard responsible for the entire band and what happens to each member of the band. That's a bunch of shit.

They're all grown ass men. They all have a voice. They all have legs and they can walk away just like Bob did. If they want to walk away. They don't. Their decision.

So whatever happens to the band or the members is not Gerard's all fault.

Gerard Way is responsible for 2 people and only 2 people on this earth. Himself and his juvenile daughter.

The end.

Anonymous said...

They're all grown ass men. They all have a voice. They all have legs and they can walk away just like Bob did.

But if they all walk away because of Gerard, what becomes of the band?

One member can destroy a band if the others can't work with him.

Anonymous said...

If they want to walk away. They don't.

Just because they haven't walked away, that doesn't mean they don't want to.

They could be staying because they have contractual obligations or because they don't want to let go of the band just yet. That doesn't mean they don't wish they could walk away.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. We don't know.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the crappy music and MSI influence is all Gerard's fault. Obviously the other guys are going along with it (with the exception of Bob).

But if Gerard does have a substance abuse issue, it could bring down the band. It has happened before and to better bands than MCR.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the crappy music and MSI influence is all Gerard's fault. Obviously the other guys are going along with it (with the exception of Bob).

I agree. They are all as stupid as each other and they all are infatuated with MSI's crappy style of music.

Anonymous said...

You'd have to be really dumb to be infatuated with MSI's crappy "music".

Anonymous said...

I think they're less infatuated with MSI's music and more with their attitude of 'let's be as offensive as we like and do and say what we want'. Because it's a backlash against what they see as people holding them responsible for the things they used to say. Things like, 'it's okay not to be groped or made to fake-masturbate at a rock show just because some 35 year old white males ask you to'. MSI represent 'sticking it to the man', and in their midlife crisis, the members of MCR desire that. Too bad it's losing them fans and sales, hey?

Anonymous said...

They'll change their tune when they realize that they're not making any money off gullible teenagers anymore. Gerard will spring back into his "savior" role like that.

Anonymous said...

MSI's music and more with their attitude of 'let's be as offensive as we like and do and say what we want'

In Kerrang, Gerard says he finds fanfic scary. He may want to have a word with his wife about her choice of friends who happen to write Waycest stories (*cough* Mary *cough*)

Anonymous said...

Fanfic is scary, but for some reason a huge portion of MCR's fanbase either reads it or writes it.

Of course, it doesn't help that Gerard tends to do things (tongue kissing Frank, unzipping Mikey's jacket and licking his chest) onstage that only fuels these girls' imagination. I read a review of one show where he asked Frank if he should "give them what they want" before engaging in a bit of Frerard.

So my question is, if he thinks fanfic is so damn scary, why does he do things to encourage it?

Typical Gerard Way hypocrisy, I suppose.
