Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :D

I've been made aware of someone on LiveJournal using the name "VeritaVenom" to post MCR fics.

I want to make clear that, not only is this person NOT me, but that it's likely a troll with an ax to grind. You have to admit that having an MCR fan with this name is a bit too much to be coincidence.

I hope you all realize by now that I'm definitely not one for writing or even reading fics, and I have nothing whatsoever to do with those bands or their fandom. Aside from the fact, obviously, that this blog is A Big Deal in the minds of their fans.

I am flattered and surprised that this blog has become big enough to be something of a legend. I'm a little gratified that it still inspires people like you guys and apparently upsets enough fangirls/boys that we are still in their headspace.

VertiaVenom, meaning THIS blog, the real VeritaVenom, (not the shabby LJ fangirl copy), the original... is not even me.

It's YOU. VeritaVenom is you.

Guess what? MCR are going to perform at the NME Shockwaves awards. Lol. And after Ray said "Fuck NME". I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

Anonymous said...

Lol. When you don't get invited to the Grammys, the VMAs, EMAs, Brit Awards, etc., you play at the NME and Kerrang awards.

Poor MCR. At one time, they coulda been a contendah.

Anonymous said...

Ray should wear a shirt with the words "FUCK NME!" emblazoned on the front in bold letters while they perform. That'll show 'em how Dangerous MCR are!

Hocking said...

or how much of a copy cat they are... to me that would be like Kurt Cobains Corprate Music sucks shirt when they were on the cover of the rolling stone

I wonder if they'll bring those backup singers with them? That will at least bring the lols.

Anonymous said...

Do any other rock bands have back-up singers. I'm curious.

Anonymous said...

I don't know of any "rock" bands with backup singers. But then MCR isn't really a rock band anymore, are they?

Hocking said...

as far as i'm concerned their not..

Anonymous said...

I can't think of one band that doesn't have someone doing back up, weither they be another band member or simply someone who tours or records with them occasionally. It just makes the show bigger. That's a pitiful insinuation that MCR only has the back up singers to cover or help GW's voice. I suppose the keyboardist now too, is only working for this purpose?

Ton's of the bigger bands use them, most especially on live shows or tours. And it isn't cheap. It's usually reserved for higher grade bands, that pull in more money. People may like to assume that back up is only used as a last resort to "aid" a bad singer, especially when it comes to this band. But if they owed Warner that much and weren't bringing it back in some way, they wouldn't be allowed the luxury of a more enhanced show. They'd simply be forced to get the job done.

Anonymous said...

I have not ever been to a single rock show that has had back-up singers. Especially not punk rock, which MCR used to claim to be.

Green Day has a back-up guitarist and KOL added a keyboard player just recently. But three female back-up singers? No.

No one has ever said anything about James on keyboards.

Anonymous said...

That's a pitiful insinuation that MCR only has the back up singers to cover or help GW's voice.

No, it's really not. Gerard sounds horrible most of the time live. Warner probably hired them just for the television performances in hopes that the band could get somebody to go out and buy Sing.

I seriously doubt they'll take them out on tour.

Anonymous said...

I've been going to rock shows for 20 years. I've seen a huge variety of bands live, from Radiohead to Megadeath to The Cure. I've seen Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam. I've seen Green Day and all those Warped Tour bands like TBS, MCS, FOB, etc. I've seen KOL, MGMT, Vampire Weekend, The Black Keys and White Lies. And that barely scratches the surface. And out of all those bands, not one of them had backup singers. Not one.

JGL post on ONTD.

He's cute, amazing, talented, etc, but the comments from the ONTDers are over the top. Everyone wants to have sex with him apparently, and they need to stop using gifs from Mysterious Skin. :/

Anonymous said...

That's a pitiful insinuation that MCR only has the back up singers to cover or help GW's voice.

Nobody needs to insinuate that Gerard is a lousy singer. It's just a fact.

Hocking said...

Green Day has had their back up guitarist for the longest time... they added him back around Warning.. I haven't missed a warped tour since i started going to them in 2001.. and my last concert was A7X which was actually last night.. and i've only seen back up singers once...but they were on TV and it was for Good Charlotte

Gerard's new hairdo makes him look like the fat teenager he once was. I'm not being mean. He just looks like that kid in those old Prom pictures now, except with pink hair.

How can you take an awards show seriously when they have an award like "Hero of the Year"?

It's a really, really bad hairstyle on him. Who told him that looked good?

Anonymous said...

His hair does look pretty bad, but I don't think that's what is making his face look so weird onstage. He's very photgenic, just as long as he's looking directly into the camera, being still and not smiling. But you snap him in action, particularly onstage singing or when he's talking and he looks so differnt. His face can look fat in photographs even when he's very, very thin.

I think once he gets tired of starving himself he's going to blow up like a balloon.

The people at ONTD make me legit uncomfy the way they get about certain things, especially when they start creaming their jeans over Mysterious Skin, which was about raping little kids, hello. Seriously, vomit sprays in a vivid technicolor dream. And once someone uses a .gif from that and is like "OMFG I WANTED TO DO HIM IN THAT" I feel like they've gone down about 3 notches on the humanity scale. And I try really, really hard not to shame people for their kinks. But that's my line, dude. Just no.

The .gifs from The Lookout are pretty hot though. ^_^;; That movie was all right.

Here is a link actually from Joe, which he posted today. It's super cool, intelligent, polite, open-minded, non-judgy, positive, optimistic, and really thoughtful.

By the way? Looper is going to be amazing, I can't stress this enough. The script is OFF THE CHARTS with its level of awesome. That's sci-fi-jeans-creaming-worthy, I mean, if you're gonna.

kapunua said...

OTOH some of those reply .gifs are too hilarious not to steal. ^____^

Anonymous said...

The .gifs from The Lookout are pretty hot though. ^_^;; That movie was all right.

I agree, he was so good to look at in that movie. I didn't care much for the film itself, but as usual, he was brilliant in it. And he didn't look like he was 14, which is a definite plus.

He was amazing in Mysterious Skin, but nothing about that movie was "hot".

kapunua said...

MTE. I could take or leave The Lookout in general, but he was pretty solid in it. I'm trying to get through "Killshot" which, I made it about 15 minutes in and was like, "Eff this." Really, it's pretty bad.

I have to agree that he was flipping amazing in Mysterious Skin. I just can't watch it ever again, that's all. And even .gifs of it make me uncomfortable. I realize that's the idea of the movie, though. :)

kapunua said...

Nonnie, have you seen Stop Loss or Manic?

I'm also assuming you've seen Brick about eight times too? :D

I have seen Stop Loss, but not Manic, but I've seen Brick maybe 5 times. It's brilliant. I loved everything about it.

Anonymous said...

^Eep. Grammar failure ftl. :(

kapunua said...

Manic had its moments, and a pretty good cast. Some parts of it were a little "meh" unless you have to see everything JGL ever did. There are still a ton of his films that I haven't seen though.

Brick is, of course, a masterpiece. :D

Anonymous said...

Brick is, of course, a masterpiece. :D

It truly is.

I'm trying to catch up on all of JGL's films too. But then I got sidetracked by Tom Hardy. :D

There just aren't enough hours in the day. :(

kapunua said...

Tom Hardy's films. OMG. I'd watch him in anything, really. Bronson was INSANE. Did we discuss Bronson already?

Still adorkable though.

Anonymous said...

Tom Hardy's films. OMG. I'd watch him in anything, really. Bronson was INSANE. Did we discuss Bronson already?

Last time we talked I hadn't seen Bronson yet. But I just watched it not long ago and Oh.My.God. I don't even.

Was "Charlie" the weirdest character ever or what? But played to absolute perfection. You couldn't feel sorry for him, but you couldn't hate him either. Kind of like TH's Heathcliff.

Honestly, the people who say they don't "get" Tom Hardy have never seen Tom Hardy. He's unbelievably talented. And gorgeous to boot.

Anonymous said...

Oh wow. I just heard a bit of MCR's recent acoustic set. Egad. Just when you thought they couldn't possibly sound worse, they do.

Dear Gerard, if you or any of your friends ever do read here, please take my advice and never, ever do acoustic again. Kay? Thanks.

YES, I love love love HitRECord. I love the general idea behind it and I really enjoy so much of the work that gets put up there. The best part is the fact that you can take anything from anywhere on the site and use it for whatever you want. I am so into the idea of art belonging to everyone in the community to remix. It's the best feeling in the world to get remixed, or when your stuff gets results - which is when another HitRECorder takes something that you did, and makes their own thing of it.

That rocks.

And you get to do neat things like be in movies and music videos, books and collabs and such. I just can't get enough of it, it's so much fun. ^_^

Bronson Anon! Oh my god, right? He was so hideous and awful but weirdly kind of appealing? I guess that's just because T-Hard portrayed him.

There were two parts in that movie that I had to watch through my fingers. The first was what that one guy does in the mental hospital. OMG, I could not even. And the second was the very end. Ugh! Such a brutal film!

LMAO. If only he'd been born 60 years earlier. No, in the time of Lady Gaga, I don't see Rockabilly making a comeback.

But, if MCR really wanted to go commercial, they could probably go country. Gerard's voice is crap, but he proved in that acoustic set that he can whine with the best of them.

I think Frank's feeling hormonal. He's threatening to block someone just because they pointed out a grammar mistake, and he's talking crap about an air stewardess. Apparently she was "mean". Well, if I had to deal with his stupid ass for hours I'd be in a pretty foul mood too. These children in MCR really should grow up.

Anonymous said...

I don't care what any of them think, but I think it would be funny to hear the excuses Jessicka would make for him.

"Oh, he was just joking" or some other such nonsense.

Anonymous said...

Frank's kids are his to take wherever he wants to take them, but as a mother, I would not have wanted to take my children on an international flight when they were as small as his girls. Not so much because of the jerky people on the plane, but because I think that would just be too difficult an undertaking. And it's probably hard on the babies too.

Going through security, possibly switching planes and the long flight times with not one very young infant, but two? No thanks. No wonder he was cranky.

Anonymous said...

I don't think Frank has taken his babies to Japan. I think he was referring to the noise any baby was making on the plane. I think now he has children he is more aware of what the rest of us with kids, or involved with kids, or siblings to kids etc, have known all along.

Doesn't make up for his coathanger abortion comment though.

The LJ has a scan from the AP article where Mikey says Bob was his close friend and he was upset when he got fired.

Anonymous said...

They are so full of themselves, aren't they?

Anonymous said...

On page 84 of the AP article, under the sub-title The Elephant in the Room and the Family at the Other End, they talk about how Bob's "dismissal" made Mikey sad.

But what gets me is all the arrogance. Frank sounds arrogant as hell in this interview. So does Gerard. They really do think they are the best band in the world.

They're not.

Anonymous said...

Best band? Do they not realise they're still a complete JOKE to most of the world?

Anonymous said...

I'd think they were all sad about Bob's dismissal of the rest of them.

Anonymous said...

So according to that AP article, the scrapped record cost a million dollars?

No wonder they're talking about releasing a Mad Gear Missile Kid album. If I were the band, I'd be playing every tiny town in Bumfuck Nowhere where some "entitled eleven year old brat" wanted me to and begging them to buy MCR pencils, notebooks and crappy looking spider shirts. They have to pay for Gerard's Porsche, baby food and Art School for the kids now, in addition to all the trips to the vet for all those dogs.

Anonymous said...

They have been talking about making a Mad Gear and Missile Kid album with 2 minute punk songs on it. The kind of thing where they go into the studio for a week and churn out some raw stuff and then release it for the diehards with more money than sense.

After all, they have to pay Warner back for that million dollars they wasted somehow. Danger Days isn't exactly burning up the charts, despite the morons who went out and bought two or three copies of it (one for the house, one for the car, etc.).

Anonymous said...

despite the morons who went out and bought two or three copies of it (one for the house, one for the car, etc.).

Do people really do that? Why? I mean, it's not like them buying one or two extra copies is really going to help the band. I always buy one physical CD and then burn copies for the car. I also upload to my computer for my iPod. My car has an iPod player, but I only use that on trips.

I bought zero copies of Danger Days though. I have better things to spend my money on than that POS.

^I don't think it's recent. When Frank and Jamia are slimmer I think they look quite similar. Remember those old pictures of them from ages ago, they looked like brother and sister in them.

He does. But, Oscar contenders? For what?

Yeah, it's not like he did anything Oscar-worthy (this year). I think they just put him on that cover because he represents "Young Hollywood" or perhaps the future of the Oscars. With his talent, he's got to win one eventually.

kapunua said...

Oh cool, I see. I thought that they were saying those folks were nominated (I didn't see who-all else is up there) and I was like, "BWAH?"

I'd love to see some kind of award of acknowledgment for Looper, and they only just wrapped up the first week of filming, hehe.

In a just world, JGL would have won ALL OF THE AWARDS for Mysterious Skin, but something like that would never happen, you know?

Alt-rock superstars My Chemical Romance released their latest album in November, Conor O’Nolan talks to Mikey Way about their elaborate concept albums and ample side projects

It’s been over four years since My Chemical Romance’s magnum opus, The Black Parade, was released upon the rapturous MCRmy (M-C-army) and the world as a whole to great hype and acclaim. It seemed for a few weeks in late 2006 that the band was at the centre of popular culture. Latest album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, although garnering critical praise has not the same mainstream reach, not that this phases the band and its bassist Mikey Way in any way.

“We try not to think too much about how the album will be perceived, we wanted to make the album we wanted to make, and if people liked it, that was awesome, that seems to be the way it worked out, which is great!”

The band have one of the most dedicated and loyal fanbases in music today and Danger Days, which was released in late November, has already sold over a million copies.

“When we were doing the first attempt at this record, we set up all these boundaries and rules and whatnot, one of the rules we said was: ‘we’re not going to work with the same producer twice’.”

After abandoning the first attempt at an album, the band decided to return to Cavallo in desperation: “When we reconnected with Rob, the planets kind of aligned and we made Danger Days. It was so much fun; it was just a real exciting time for the band.”

The recording was not without its casualties though. The band’s drummer, Bob Bryar, who had been with them since 2004, left the band for undisclosed reasons last February. O-two’s attempt to get Way to elaborate on his departure was quickly shot down: “It’s not something we really talk about, it’s just that there was a situation and it was a better situation if we parted ways,” he says cryptically.

Even when I was still into this band I never got the adoration people had for Mikey. He was a pretty mediocre bassist at best - haven't heard the new album so I don't know if he's improved at all.

Anonymous said...

Lol, have you looked at the source for this article? It's some college newspaper.

I think they used Wikipedia as a source for their information for how many copies Danger Days has sold. LMAO.

Anonymous said...

How funny that sites like Wikipedia and some unknown newspaper are posting how many records MCR has sold without any citation. It makes the band look stupid and desperate.

Anonymous said...

They must have gone gold in toy ray gun sales

Anonymous said...

Even for Wikipedia the entry for Danger Days seems amateurish and sloppy.

Other albums list individual sales in different countries, end of year charts and certifications (see A Thousand Suns, Sigh No More, Come Around Sundown and others). MCR says "over a million copies" with no citation and nothing to back it up.

Anonymous said...

Have those stupid rayguns even shipped to the people who bought them yet? I know some kids were complaining they got the boxsets as Christmas gifts and still didn't have their rayguns and masks yet.

I think I'd be pissed. Especially the younger kids because with the way kids change so quickly, by the time they get them they might not even want them anymore.

I don't see how it's physically possible for DD to have sold a million copies by January. It would have had to keep up the rate it was selling the first week consistently to have done so.

Wikipedia fail.

So LynZ will be re-joining MSI. I wonder if she'll feel different about Panty Shot when they play it now she has a daughter.

Anonymous said...

I feel so accomplished now that it’s done, it took me a year, and now I’m like whatever, burn it, I don’t give a shit.

Why?

That article was horrible. The typos, the bad grammar. The pictures.

JGL Fans:

http://perezhilton.com/2011-02-02-jgl-dark-knight-rises

and for those who don't like going to the website:

According to a source, it’s being reported that the seksi Joseph Gordon-Levitt is now in talks with the folks behind The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan’s third (and his final, he says) entry into the Batman universe!!

Last year we had been hearing rumors and rumblings of Levitt perhaps being cast as the Riddler in the hero flick, but that was squashed a few months ago.

It was then revealed that hunky Tom Hardy would play villain Bane, and shortly after that we got the juicy news that the beautiful Anne Hathaway would play Catwoman!

I can’t believe I finished, and finished on time.

LOL you didn't finish on time, you jerk. You had to push the show date back because you didn't finish your pieces on time. What a fucking idiot.

Anonymous said...

If I had spent a year making "art", I would never want to burn it. Why would someone want to burn their work? What's the being in being an artist if you don't even give a shit about your work after it's finished?

I think she should speak less, or maybe not at all.

Rocksound are telling fans that The Roid is in the SING video. I guess she really doesn't mind her husband's promotion after all! Also, it's hilarious how the first photo of the 'art show' at that link is one of Gerard. LMAO. Good luck pretending you have your own career, Lindsey. Time to go back to performing songs about kids being raped, hey?

Anonymous said...

Did Kitty have a baby too? That's what was implied in that interview.

"Well, I went to art school write after high school and I grew up in a small town so when I moved to Brooklyn, I lost my mind a little. There was a lot of buying beer on the corner, a lot of Colt 45, experimenting with drugs".

What's that mean?

Anonymous said...

Why pictures of Gerard at all?

Anonymous said...

From Rocksound

"I think the kids deserve a bit of danger from a rock band". Way said. "They don't need to be seeing us showing up in red carpet events trying to be famous. They don't need to see us being opportunists and trying to launch sneaker companies. They don't need that, that's not what a rock band does. A true rock band is a band that writes songs that are truly special and plays them live. There is no danger in being famous, no danger in making a lot of money, there is no danger in any of that and people don't deserve that from a rock band."

So says the person that drives around in a porche carrera.

"Well having Bandit was amazing, and I think that my work got better after having her  just because I want her to have a mom that is actively pursuing her dreams."

Oh yeah, The little girl should be very proud of her mother that spread's her legs on stage, incourages songs like 'Panty Shot', and that's a hypocrite.~

Her 'art' doesn't really look like it got any better. My brother can draw much better, the only reason why people went was to see Gerard. If you think about it, she slept her way to the top, which isn't it something she's oh-so against?

Anonymous said...

JGL has so much on his plate right now that I can't help but feel the batman thing is just a rumor. As much as I would love to see him in it (he would be a fantastic Riddler), I don't see it happening this time around.

But, if I turn out to be wrong, that would be great. I'll watch him in anything. :)

Am I the only one the found it sad that there was just like 1/2 pictures of Jessicka and like the rest were of Lindsey? Why the fuck was Princess Gee even photographed?

Anonymous said...

Why the fuck was Princess Gee even photographed?

Because everyone was so overwhelmed by the extraordinary talent shown by these two woman they focused on taking pics of Gerard to calm themselves down.

Anonymous said...

Lindsey looked horrible in those pics. That blonde hair makes her look sallow and sickly, whereas Jessicka looked lovely. Plus, Jessicka's art was infinitely more interesting.

The only reason the photographer took so many pictures of her was because she's married to Gerard.

kapunua said...

JGL could conceivably be in the Batman movie. I don't think it starts filming till summer, and Looper wraps up in April. It would be a stretch for sure, and I'm not convinced yet. But I guess it is possible? :)

Anonymous said...

Gerard doesn't seem to mind and wants to promote his wife, her band, her friends, probably anyone connected to her.

I predict he will probably show up for pics at Lindsey's friends weddings, parties and bar mitzvahs.

In real rock n roll news, The White Stripes broke up. Shame it wasn't MCR instead. The White Stripes are actually talented and deserve the praise they have received over the years. And Jack White has more class in his toenail than Gerard and company could dream up. It's a sad day for rock music. :'[

They're so dangerous they appeared on a Japanese game show. Must be what all "real" rock bands do.

gerard way is so full of shit that he seems to have no clue what isnt shit any more.

They'll most likely appear next on Iron Chef.

Surfing the Crowd Band of the Year?

LMAO.

Real bands win Grammys, Brit Awards, VMAs, etc. Dangerous bands like MCR win stupid ass shit awards that nobody has ever heard of.

LMAO!! I seriously can't believe some of the shit that comes out of this mans mouth. Lol. Dude's lost his mind if he thinks plastic ray guns are "dangerous".

Devon Aoki can do much better and get much richer than JGL. Look at her.

Anonymous said...

I love JGL as an actor, but I don't care who he's dating, unless he starts dating some woman who influences his work in a negative way.

Same for Gerard. I would have had no problem with Lindsey if she hadn't been in MSI and Lindsey and if Gerard hadn't let MSI influence his music.

Anonymous said...

Gerard needs to read a newspaper. There's enough "danger" out there in the world right now. Kids don't need his faux danger to make their world complete.
