In the time since I posted last, Gerard rented a monkey for LynZ, totally forgetting his support of PETA and animal rights. Jimmy Urine declared Gerard his best friend. The Black Parade Is Dead came out and everyone in the band thanked everyone, except Gerard who thanked LynZ, and then his parents as an after thought. Gerard moved to LA where he was seen with his new "posse" of friends, meaning LynZ, Jimmy Urine and his wife. A few more interviews came and went where he promoted MSI. And recently he wrote a message to MySpace trying to say how everything was cool with the band, yet what it really comes down to is Frank is touring with his other band, Bob just got our of surgery, no mention of whta Mikey is working on, and he doesn't know where Ray is. He also hinted that he is going to go see an upcoming MSI show, which is funny because of all of LynZ's protests that she doesn't want fans to go to their show just to see Gerard.
I feel really bad for the rest of the band now that Jimmy Urine and LynZ are Gerard's best friends. Didn't his band see him through the worst times, when he was suicidal didn't they pull him up from rock bottom? Now they are tossed aside for "inspirational" MSI.
Have I forgotten anything? I think there was more but I can't remember it.
This is mostly just to give you all some new space to talk.
It's really good to know that there are people out there who see through their pathetic facade.

Has anyone ever seen that video played on any tv channels? I rarely watch FUSE anymore and since MTV never ever plays videos I rarely see videos at all these days. Of course, even when I used to watch videos all the time I never saw any MSI ones, but I was wondering if their association with MCR had gotten them any TV time.
I agree with the above posters about Eliza and don't particularly like the comparisons to Lindsey. They're both bad apples, just in different ways. Like, Eliza is rotten at the core and Lindsey is full of worms.

I'm one of the many who thought that he'd made a mistake by marrying so soon (for dubious reasons) but ambivalent about HER. After that interview it became, "THAT is your choice of life partner? When did LynZ get an advisor or handler? I just don't think that is something anyone in that band would have. If they did that person would just tell LynZ , don't talk just sit there and try and look pretty.

If MSI had any kind of advisors or handlers they would most definitely tell Lindsey to stay in the background during interviews and KEEP HER MOUTH SHUT.
For the longest time she actually did that, probably because she (and everybody else) knew that she didn't really contribute much to the band. The interview participation only came about after the marriage when she became OMG, Important! all of a sudden.
After that laughable display on Rock Sound TV though, I'm guessing the other band members and maybe even Gerard will tell her to stay away from TV cameras in the future.
I think MSI will be the end of MCR because of Jimmy's influence on Gerard. He has already changed his lifestyle and ditched his old friends for MSI. I can see him totally changing his musical style to be more similar to theirs too, but I don't think Ray and Frank will go for it. Maybe they were willing to put up with Gerard acting like a jerk but I don't think they'll let MSI and Gerard fuck up their music. They'll quit the band first.
^^I guess we have no choice but to wait and see. It doesn't look good though. I think Gerard see's Jimmy as some amazing god instead of the obnoxious skinny asshole he is. I think Gerard always feared not being accepted by his peers, especially other bands and he's hoping to gain a more "hard core" reputation because of his association with MSI. Most people don't realize just how hard it is to make a living writing comic books. When Joss Whedon (the guy who does the phenomenonally successful Buffy series) was asked if he would consider writing comics full time, his answer was something along the lines of "No, because my family likes to eat."

I do think Kerrang was poking fun at Lindsey and Gerard. The fans can't be the only ones who have noticed a change in Gerard and I doubt the people who write for Kerrang like the new Unimproved Asshole Gerard any more than we do. And it's just so easy to make fun of the two of them. They're like rock's version of Dumb and Dumber.
At least MSI hasn't been getting much press in the U.S. Except for a generating ever so slight a buzz when IF first came out, magazines like AP and Revolver have kept pretty quiet about them.
For every one of us who comes here to rant about how much Gerard has disappointed us, there are probably dozens of ex-fans who just stopped giving a shit. Like, everyone on my f-list on lj. We used to rant on AIM about how much he had changed back when he was engaged to Eliza, because he was rude to some of them at shows. Maybe a third of them just stopped liking MCR back then. Then after the MSI thing, the rest of them just threw up their hands and said "Fuck it. This band isn't what I thought it was" and they just dropped out of the fanbase altogether.
I should probably do the same thing but I still haven't got them out of my system yet. I'm glad this place is here so I can still vent to someone.

MCR were never that huge in the US either - FOB are bigger, Linkin Park are huge, even Daughtry and Hinder (Who? Exactly!) sold far more records - so it may be that entirely coincidentally (LOLzies!) MSI are getting proportionately less coverage there than they do here in the UK.
I do also get the feeling that the Brit mags are having a joke at their expense, whilst still featuring them to keep the fangirl sales!
I noticed that in spring of last year, when MCR were still touring and MSI were still getting heavy helpings of buzz because of the marriage, that people were far more interested in them here in the U.S. then they are now. By people I mean the MCR fans. Their shows didn't sell out but there were a lot more people at them then there would have been say three years ago. Most of those new people were between the ages of 14 & 17 and wearing MCR shirts. The younger MCR fans are moving away from MCR because of the break. They have short loyalty spans when their idols aren't really doing anything. With those fans goes MSI's newly aquired fans as well. By this time next year they won't make the radar at all.

Out of over 60 friends on my flist (it used to be more, but some have deleted), all of which I met on MCR comms, I only have 3 that I can think of who still like MCR. There's an Aussie, an American and a Brit. The girl from Australia is somewhat disillusioned, but doesn't want to give the band up, mainly because of the friends she's met through them. The American in the youngest person on my flist (15) and she worries constantly that Gerard is using drugs again. The only one who seemingly hasn't been affected by Gerard's behavior and association with MSI is the Brit. She doesn't really like MSI, but she's one of those "if Gerard is happy, I'm happy" fans.
As someone who has been a fan since Bullets, I've noticed a huge shift in the fanbase and from my perspective, things aren't looking too good for the band.

Still, I'm one of those who's past caring about the whole issue these days. There's probably, totally like, a "Gerard/MCR Fandom Curve" - at first you're mildly irritated by the juvenile behaviour and stories of rudeness to fans, then you visit a "hate blog" and your annoyance spirals upwards with the cathartic ranting of a bunch of like-minded people and a little light merch-burning until you reach the threshold when you just can't listen to the band anymore and stop caring whether he lives or dies. Now I'm on the "other side" I quite like popping by occasionally for the drama and if a song comes up on my iPod I can appreciate it just on it's own merits again.
It probably speaks volumes about the kind of (horrible) person I am that I can honestly say I enjoyed bitching with you guys. Thank you.
I have to say, like the Aussie, I think the only good think I've gained out of liking MCR is the friends I've made. Real MCR are some of the nicest people. Sure, there are a small pack of bitches that I've seen on BN but apart from that, everyone is really sweet.
I don't thing the American magazine that used to feature MCR want to get parents made at them by doing articles on MSI. I know Rolling Stone and Spin have said a few words about them in the pass, I think those magazine know MSI isn't worth it.
I think that once America parents get wind of MSI older songs they won't be to happy and MCR will lose a lot more fans. If I were a parent I wouldn't be to happy about my child having a role model who tells a crowd to finger her when she jumps into it. Talent or no talent.

It's so strange to go back and watch old youtube videos of the band way back when, like when they did Warped Wednesday on FUSE in 05 and they talked about the other bands they've played with on Warped. (link if you're interested.)
It's just so strange to watch Gerard then, and to know that now he's hanging with Jimmy Urine, who spends so much time dissing and making fun of other bands.
Also, if you watch those Warped Tour Wednesday interviews (there are quite a few where they talk about different bands), pay attention to Mikey. I think it's pretty clear he's high as a kite. Every time he opens his mouth you can just see all the other guys tense up, like they're afraid for him to speak.
Whether Alicia was involved or not, I definitely believe the cocaine rumors about him. :(
If Gerard did those ^ interviews now the only band he would talk about would be MSI. I watched some of those vids and didn't get the least bit nostalgic for old Gerard because I don't see the man I used to see. All I see now is the cocky, lying Gerard of the past year. I think he was faking it back then because he couldn't risk letting the world see what an asshole he really was.

Well, the show was in Philadelphia. Although badly dyed blonde hair and trashy jewellry are Mama Way characteristics - you don't see her face so I'm not entirely convinced it's her.

My brother is a bass player and over the years he has taught me to play a little bit. One thing I do know is that bass players usually don't jump around much because the bass is essentially a rhythm instrument and it would be terribly hard to stay in rhythm while flailing about, flashing the audience and doing "lap dances."
It has been suggested by rock critics, as well as us regular folks, that when she's onstage her instrument might not even be plugged in. After watching her "play" I must say I think that's probably true.
I don't see how it matters if any of their instruments are plugged in. It's not just Lyn Z that doesn't do much with her instrument. Steve does little playing and spends a lot of time just speaking into the mic. Kitty is the only one who plays, and she plays over a pre-recorded drum track. Calling this a band is absurd. If Jimmy could have pulled this off as a one man show I'm sure he would have but I suppose he thought having back up dancers would work out better. Let's hope this fad passes quickly.

That girl is young, and clearly not the "pretty" girl at school. And I don't mean that ugly. But it makes sense that she would want to use her family connections to make herself more appealing to the kids at her school and to the internet fandom. Being Gerard's cousin (and she repeatedly refers to her family as though we need their full names) gives her a certain false sense of self importance. It does surpirse me that the Way's don't shut her up though just for damage control. Being young and seeking her own kind of fame she's lible to start shooting her mouth off about whatever just to keep people interested.
Before you know it will be privy to more then just backstage pics but more personal home stuff. "My dad told my mom that Gerard and Lyn Z were..." and so on and so on. Isn't wrong I would really like to see that happen.

Excellent point. But I doubt he's fucking his cousins so he might actually mind. Plus, they aren't "hardcore punks", they look fairly clean, don't have fake valley accents and don't dress like school girls - dispite that fact that they ARE in school girls.

And it doesn't appear that the "not plugged in" remark was made so much to diss LynZ as it was to point out that her contribution is not musical. True, although I think the phrase 'gasp in open-mouthed horror' might be more appropriate. Watching them live, her attempts at 'sexy' are a cringeworthy experience akin to a beloved uncle getting bladdered on Boxing Day and doing traumatising things with cold turkey legs and balloons. Do not want!! I did think her bass was plugged in, but she didn't do a lot more than occasionally plunk the E string over a synthesizer track. She can be window dressing if she wants, I just wish she wouldn't pretend that she's any more than that.

There are two things you can do. You can walk away from this bands or you can wait and see what happens.
Gw might wise up and see what he has become and go back to being the old GW.
For myself, I have given up. Even if he goes back I don't know if I can believe that he really means it. And that is what you will have to figure out.

It really is embarrassing isn't it? Has the girl no shame? I honestly wonder what other musicians that are friends of MCR think about it? Maybe they genuinely don't give a shit and why should they, but they must know. That would be almost the final stages of addiction. When all your other veins are tapped out--including ones in your legs and between your toes--you go to your hands. That's when the gloves come in, and the long sleeves in the summer (with the holes in the cuffs so you can slip your thumbs through and pull the material down over your veins.)

Compared to bands like Linkin Park and Green Day, MCR isn't exactly raking in the dough. And I've heard from some pretty reliable sources that the Black Parade Tour didn't even break even.
I seriously doubt they're as well off as a lot of people think they are.

I heard they went into TBP in a lot of debt because of the GOY video. It cost half a million dollars to make and the record companies generally make the band pay for videos out of their royalties. :(

& geez! Half a mil! that's just crazy.
A million records sounds like a lot, but when you consider there are five guys in the band who are all taking songwriting credit, I doubt any of them made much, if anything, from Revenge at all. When you consider the recording costs, promotion, the expensive videos (esp. GOY), they probably did go into TBP in debt. Look at what happened to 30STM.
They probably recouped the money they owed with TBP, but it only sold something like 3 million copies, so I doubt they're getting super-rich or anything.
*By the way, that 3 million is worldwide for TBP - it only went platinum once in the US.
Yeah, I don't think MCR is that well off neither. They have good incomes but I don't think their like major millionares or anything.
And their income probably varies greatly, since when their on tour they probably gain more and when their off tour they usually don't make a lot neither. Yet, I love how Gerard loves to spend his money friviously. With monkey rentals and all and moving to LA.
Btw, is there any exact proof that Gerard has moved to LA?
Gerard said he had moved to LA in an interview somewhere. I can't remember exactly where, but it was right after he had said that he was planning on staying in Jersey for another year, which was not long after he said he was looking for a house in Portland...
