Thank you VV, for keeping a place open where we can all gather to exchange ideas, talk about issues, or talk about movies, Avengers, Tom Hardy, or just about anything else. Thanks for sticking around!
I stopped going there a few months back, even though I do like their char-grilled sandwiches. I've known about their anti-gay stance for a while now, plus, I don't like that they close on Sunday. That seems so outdated in the 21st century.
I know a lot of people who go there because they're one of the most convenient places on my university campus to eat.
I think the owners have every right to their misguided, archaic opinions, but I won't be one of the people supporting them.
@ comments made earlier about being 12... and being a stalker...
Pictures of Gerard's house are on Tumblr. You can find them under the My Chemical Romance tag, so you don't have to be a stalker to find them. Also, considering how much everyone here seems to know so much about the band's personal life, I think it's fair to say that we are all "internet" stalkers, but there's no harm in that actually. Especially since the pictures are online publicly b/c he is selling his house.
And MCR is not my favorite band, although I did see them live last year, but I'm not butt hurt here. I don't get hurt over other people's opinion (of music, movies, entertainment etc.) because when it comes down to it, nothing anyone says or does will change how a person feels about something or someone they love. They have to make that choice themselves. I don't encourage people to love or hate MCR, only to think for themselves. Therefore,It doesn't amaze me that there are ANONS who fire back with childish insults because that's apart of the beauty of the internet. People can say what they would never say to someone's face. If these comments sound like they are coming from a 12 year old, then I must be one level-headed, open-minded pre-teen :D I'm cool with that, it's better than being a bitter, unreasonable 27+ yr old twat. jus' sayin'.
@ 12:58 Seriously, If this stopped being about My Chem such a long...long... time ago, them why are there still bitter comments about members of MSI and Gerard in the last post? Or maybe you just missed those comments. The topic may be over for you, but clearly some people are still "butt hurt" as you folks like to put it. And you only brought more attention to My Chemical Romance by commenting on them yourself. Also, don't be afraid to say their name... After all the blog is called "Three Cheers You've Fooled Them All...". Maybe this blog would benefit from being called VV. That would only make perfect sense. And, Why did you have to say "none of us" when you could have just stopped at "that band". Now, you have implied that you speak for everyone here including me. Which leads me to my original theory that...
This is all just one person posting under multiple personalities. Mind. Fucking. Blown. This deserves a Kerp face.
And, Why did you have to say "none of us" when you could have just stopped at "that band". Now, you have implied that you speak for everyone here including me. Which leads me to my original theory that...
This is all just one person posting under multiple personalities.
So, according to your twisted logic, since you're "one of us", you must just be one of those dissociative identities (the proper term -- "multiple personality" hasn't been used in years) you keep harping on about.
The Tom Hardy screentest posted on the last blog was great. He's such a talented actor. I watched Warrior the other day and I totally got why people were comparing him to Brando. But after watching that screentest, I think he's got a vulnerability and sensitivity that even Brando didn't have.
Speaking of great actors, I love that this blog introduced me to Ben Whishaw. Since watching Richard II I've been going back and watching his earlier work and damn. He just nails it every time.
So, FN Arya Stark, since you're one of us why not join in on the current conversations?
What did you think of The Hollow Crown series? Which play was your favorite? What did you think of Simon Russell Beale as Falstaff? How about the religious imagery in Richard II?
Do you have any thoughts on the possibility of redemption for Loki?
Have you seen Tom Hardy's Star Trek screen test? Have you seen him in Bronson? Wasn't he terrifying in that?
Do you think JGL's apology for his pretty girls aren't funny comment gets him out of the doghouse? Do you think Looper will be good?
Care to weigh in on the Chik-fil-A situation?
Or did you just come here to call us a bunch of bitter old hags? If so, who is being childish?
The "multiple personality" joke was only that, a joke. I know that it is not called "multiple personality" in psychology, but I used that term because it's the one that most people are familiar with. Of course, I know the proper term, because up until fall 2011, I was taking pre-requisites to get into a master degree program for psychology. But I didn't feel like it was worth it, on this kind of blog, to throw down psych terms. I like to be real with people.
I don't understand why some of you ANONS are so defensive every time someone here makes a comment about My Chem unless it is hateful. I will admit that I really did love their latest album, but I listen to other music besides theirs, so it's not like it matters to me if you like them or not.
@ ANON 8:35 Why are you on this blog if you have an 11-year-old son? Honestly? I mean, I pointed out that I'm "lurking" because I'm unemployed right now, but if I had a job and other responsibilities other than job searching all day every day, I would not care what fan loathed/loved what band/artist. I mean, compared to taking care of your 11 year old, this should and does seem insignificant. But if you are in tune with psychology, you already know this.
TO THE OTHER ANONS:
"Hella Money" was just slang talk and that I more than likely I don't speak like this outside of the web universe. Clearly this was a trivial attack, but I'll accept it because you are probably immature enough to think that it hurts me. But I will tell you this, when people speak to me over the phone they have a difficult time believing that I am a black 22 year old. They usually think I'm white, and that I'm much older because my verbal communication is spot on. I have BFA and graduated Magna Cum Laude from my university. Hopefully, your 11-year-old son will grow up and accomplish such accolades.
The main reason I don't have a job right now is because I have a liberal arts degree, and I'm in the wrong location for it. California would be the sweet spot for my career path. But I'm in the south so; it's not an easy job search.
I'm not divulging this information just to appease myself, but to relay to you (even within the barriers of the internet) that a person can be a fan of any musician, any musician in the world, but that does not discredit them as a decent, well rounded individual.
Now, I don't know you, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you are probably an okay person. Oddly enough, we might even have a lot in common. The reason I bring this up is because it's important for you and all the other ANONS to understand that just because some disagrees with you, does not mean it's fitting to lump all naysayers into the same category. Of all the points I make, it seems you only want to point out the things that you can twist into an attack. But why? I'm not trying to attack you. I'm simply offering you a more objective and forgiving view on things:
It's absolutely ridiculous to think that all MCR and MSI fans are "delusional". When I went to see MCR in concert last year, I was surrounded by a plethora of people from different backgrounds and races, and interestingly enough, I talked to one young woman who was a schoolteacher. Also, these young teens who MCR fans are YOUNG and they have a right to fan girl over things, just as the rest of us may have when we were younger. They will grow, and may fall out of love with the band. But, if they are like me, and stay true to the artists they listen to, they will more than likely savor their youthful music tastes even in older age, as it reflects their childhood and what they felt at the time.
I in no way see any band or artist as an Idol. Now, this is just me, because I am a Christian, the only one I live to serve is God. (This is not an attack on anyone who is atheist, agnostic or any other religion, so I'm not trying to incite a religious debate). Furthermore, many of you will insist that I am this fan...this fucktard...this delusional human being, when the truth is, you don't know or care who I am.
Some of you are so set in your ways that you forget that being a fan of art is a choice and moreover, a right. Anyone in this world can love any kind of art or music they want, and that should be okay. They should not be demonized for it. That goes they same for people who want to believe in art that may not always be righteous or just. So I hope for that sake of your children (those of you who have children), friends, and family, that you don't try to force your opinions about a certain artist on someone. Art should always be about freedom of choice. And if your children or other young adults decide that they want to support artist like Jay-Z, Miley Cyrus, MSI, or even MCR, then you should encourage them to draw their own conclusions, not confine themselves to your opinion.
Sorry this is so long, but I know that I cannot win this battle because many of you are set in your ways. But I'm a huge fan of speaking out against discrimination of: age, gender, and personal taste in art, sexual preference, and freedom of choice. So...
I could never be scared of someone who cowers behind his or her computer.
I did not come here to call anyone bitter. Most of the topics you listed I really don't have an opinion on because I have not read about them.
I do like Tom Hardy, but I have not seen the screen tests. My sister is really big into him though so I'm sure I'll hear about it by tomorrow @__@. I also have not read up on Thor 2, but I get the feeds for Thor on my tumblr so I'll have to check it out. Loki is hands down my favorite to watch on screen though. There's a lot to be said for a villain that can do so much damage and still capture the audience's sympathy.
I'm not really trying to debate the whole Chick Fil A thing because it's such a sensitive topic. People ask for ones opinion but they don't really want it; they just want you to agree with them and support their opinion. But if you want my insight, and if you can handle it without getting all upset then I will keep it sweet and simple:
I have supported several gay rights alliances, and have participated in PRIDE for the past three years. I'm straight, so I believe they consider heterosexuals who are pro-gay rights "Allies". Anyway, I'm not against gays and lesbians have rights at all. BUT... I love Chick Fil A. I've been eating at Chick Fil A for a while now (not that long really, only about 5 years)... and I will more than likely continue to eat there. So there, that's my spill.
I'm sure you will all call me a daemon or something to the likes, but hey, whatever man, to each their own.
Why are you on this blog if you have an 11-year-old son? I mean, compared to taking care of your 11 year old, this should and does seem insignificant. But if you are in tune with psychology, you already know this.
What part of having an eleven year old son do you think precludes someone from expressing opinions on the internet? Do you seriously think an eleven year old needs his mommy to play Pat-a-cake with him 24/7? My son has friends, video games, his own computer, and a life of his own. We spend time together, yes, but you don't know much about eleven year old boys if you think they require their mothers constantly.
I did not come here to call anyone bitter.
it's better than being a bitter, unreasonable 27+ yr old twat. jus' sayin'.
Really? Look back, sweetheart. I think you just hella contradicted yourself there.
But I'm a huge fan of speaking out against discrimination of: age, gender, and personal taste in art, sexual preference, and freedom of choice. So...
Funny how you say you're against age discrimination, but your main argument since coming here is that we're all "too old".
Honey, you aren't terribly bright, and it shows more and more with every comment you make. Nobody believes your "22 year old Magna Cum Laude college graduate" bullshit.
And honestly? It's been months since anyone here brought up MCR until you came around. You're obviously trying to stir up some more shit about them.
But whatever. Talk until you're blue in the face. This blog has suffered more ridiculous trolls than you and survived. So have at it. But try to come up with something a bit more original than "ZOMG, you guys are just so old and bitter!!!"
Oh my god, 5:46!! You mean to tell me that you have an 11 year old child and you aren't chained to the kitchen? How dare you have a life outside of Motherhood!!!!
And don't you know that people over the age of 27 shouldn't have opinions about really cool shit like rock bands whose main focus is what color of hair their front man is going to have this touring cycle?
/sarcasm
Jeez, some of the stupid shit these trolls come up with. The mind boggles.
Why are you on this blog if you have an 11-year-old son?
OLD PEOPLE WITH KIDS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE INTERNET.
BUT... I love Chick Fil A. I've been eating at Chick Fil A for a while now (not that long really, only about 5 years)... and I will more than likely continue to eat there.
And, you lose. Demon? No. Self serving asshole? Yes.
Now, this is just me, because I am a Christian, the only one I live to serve is God.
I hate to say this, I really do, but more and more this "I'm a Christian and I serve God" really starts to explain why people are okay with bigotry. (Chick Fil A as well as MCR/MSI in this case.)
This is why Christianity is getting such a bad rep.
Dark Shadows was so dumb, but I loved the original when I was a little kid. I don't know why they keep trying to remake it. It was one of those things that was a product of its time, and they'll never recapture the original's melodramatic camp. :/
"Do you know why his works were supposedly such genius? The reason is simple, really. It’s because people love the sort of thing that is unusual, rare, out of the ordinary, and back in those days, Shakespeare was the extraordinary one. The people in his plays spoke in poetry, but most people in those days did not word a sentence like” The lady doth protest too much, methinks.” And that, folks, is why Shakespeare is so famous.
And do you know why his works are regarded as so popular even today? Because of the impact he had THEN. If he had never existed in that era and was born in this one, would he have been thought of so highly? I don’t think so! "
Who knows? Maybe 300 years from now E. L. James will be regarded as genius and extraordinary as Shakespeare. I wouldn't be surprised. Shakespeare was thought to be ridiculous trash by many scholars of his time.
It's not the colour or gloss of the nail polish. It's the woman who wears it. I don't think many guys would be turned on by a Susan Boyle even if she was wearing glossy deep red nailpolish. Nail polish is an additive. It's not the colour, length or gloss of your nails that catches a guys eye. That's something he'll notice later and he'll go gaga over any colour you're wearing if the rest of you is pleasing to him. Nails are one of the last things a guy usually compliments. Unless he can't think of anything else to compliment.
Shakespeare's plays and sonnets are beautifully crafted works of art. The exquisite attention to detail is staggering.
Not only that, the man understood human nature so well that his characters' emotions and motivations still ring true and strike a chord with readers today. Shakespeare was quite simply "life set to poetry".
You may not love Shakespeare (the Elizabethan language actually involves some effort to understand) and might not want to put in the time necessary to appreciate his work, but don't make an idiot out of yourself by comparing him to a piece of trite, badly written fan-fiction.
Jealously is a disease. Get well soon 8:29. I recommend some tomato soup. It did wonders for Warhol.
All art is subjective. Just because you don't like or understand it doesn't make it trite. I get the feeling you think much too much of your own opinon and much too little of the opinions of others.
To listen or not to listen? To understand and appreciate or not to understand and appreciate? To be or not to be? To suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or to throw slings and arrows at the outrageous fortune of others? Which is nobler?
I believe Shakespeare would be one of E. L. James' biggest supporters. Van Gogh would probably have an ear to lend her.
Who's fighting? You think a difference of opinion is a fight? It doesn't become a fight or turn personal until someone is called dumbass, moron, idiot or troll because of their opinion. That's when the fight starts. That's when you should show up and say stop it.
It also becomes a fight and turns personal when someone says that you're ugly, fat, or yo momma dresses you funny. Insults are insults. Whether they're about your physical appearance, perceived intellect or personal opinions.
^ 9:41 - Mya was butthurt to an extreme degree. To a pathological degree actually. I truly believe that if she had been able to physically hurt Kapunua, she probably would have tried to. She went so far out of her way to get into her real life, I can only imagine that if she for example lived in her neighborhood, she would have done something like key her car, put shit in her mailbox, or something actually violent.
I also think it's only a matter of time before Mya does something she can't take back, to someone in real life. Her mindset is not healthy.
Not only that, the man understood human nature so well that his characters' emotions and motivations still ring true and strike a chord with readers today. Shakespeare was quite simply "life set to poetry".
Absolutely agree. It's like peering into the psyche of the human condition when you read his works.
Personally, I think Shakespeare would wonder what the heck a "holy cow" is, and what it has to do with sex.
7:01 is obviously trolling. Nobody can be so stupid as to actually compare a poorly written piece of pop erotica aimed at frustrated housewives to Shakespeare. This person is just trying to get a rise out of you.
I have no problems with people that enjoy reading her books, or even think they are well written. They are entitled to their opinions.
Some people enjoy being swept away in a fantasy about obsessive love and constant bonking, just like some people enjoy being swept away in a science fiction fantasy.
I prefer Shakespeare as well, but hey. If 50 Shades gets you off, then go for it.
I remember reading The Story of O, way back when I was in college and being intrigued, although at the same time repulsed by it. I think it was published back in the 50's (?) so this kind of thing is nothing new, and it has been done much better.
Frankly, my experience with men is that most of them have fantasies about being dominated sexually. They would rather be the person being tied up. *shrugs*
So true, 6:44 & 6:58! A few years ago, my fiance (now ex) surprised me with a "present", which consisted of a really lame set of wrist/ankle cuffs (which were made with velcro and attached to the bed with grosgrain ribbons) and a black blindfold with an elastic band. At first I was like, "Okay, so he wants to tie me up. Maybe it will be fun, even if the bonds are rather chintzy." Turned out, he wanted me to use them on him. I never figured out why this was supposed to be a present for me...
Anyway, I agreed to his fantasy, but told him I was going to have to do it for real, and the velcro wasn't going to cut it. I guarantee you that I gave that man the experience of his life. The only problem was, he wanted to do that every single time afterward. Eventually, I sick of always having to play a role. We had other problems in our relationship, but this was kind of the last straw and we wound up breaking up.
Maybe I'm still a bit of a prude, but I think that kind of thing should remain private between two people. I don't like reading about other people's sex lives.
Anonymous said... Song for the night: Blur There's No Other Way
Anon, I love Blur. Once saw them at Sheffield Arena. I was down at the front and got so squashed against the barrier I had to be pulled out. Managed to get back to the front though hee hee! Ended up with bruises on each hip the size on dinner plates. Worth it.
As for people talking about sex, I don't see anything wrong with it. One of the reasons I think that god-awful 50 Shades book (and it really is awful, the writing is atrocious) has become such a big hit with women is because so many of them have hang-ups about their sexuality. They feel that in order to fully experience sexual fulfillment, they have to be dominated. In other words, they're turning their sexuality over to someone else who will determine what they will experience. It's out of their control, so they can't be blamed or shamed for it. It's really kind of dehumanizing. Just another way for a woman to view herself as the extension, and maybe even the property, of a man.
I have to agree with you 11:50, there is nothing wrong about discussing sex in general but I also think that personal intimacy between two people should be private.
I think the same way about people that throw their love for their girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife in people's faces as if they are the only ones who experience these feelings.

In the book I believe she is an inexperienced 19, and he is 27. How can you take this seriously?
Howdee-doo anon. Rhiannon is ten weeks old and absolutely gorgeous. She's happy, healthy and adored by her whole family. We're just thankful that there's been a happy ending to a nightmare nine months!
I really liked what JGL had to say about his character in (500) Days of Summer. It's amazing how so many people didn't get it. I'm glad he set the record straight. :)
I miss Hollow Crown too. That was such a great month, having Shakespeare to look forward to every Saturday night.
I'm also grateful because it introduced me to Ben Whishaw. I watched Bright Star a few nights ago. Very, very sad. Also, the short Love Hate, which was funny -- here's a link if you guys are interested. He's a very intriguing actor, and I love his quirkiness. I'm looking forward to Cloud Atlas, and as much as I don't like James Bond, I'll probably see Skyfall because of him.
WTF? I don't know who the hell you people are talking about. If I had to guess I would say Gerard Way said something about revenge and dancing and you can't resist following his every word. You're still paying attention to him because you still care about the band and their music no matter how much you deny it. You're still invested.
The (500) Days of Summer attitude of “He wants you so bad” seems attractive to some women and men, especially younger ones, but I would encourage anyone who has a crush on my character to watch it again and examine how selfish he is. He develops a mildly delusional obsession over a girl onto whom he projects all these fantasies. He thinks she’ll give his life meaning because he doesn’t care about much else going on in his life. A lot of boys and girls think their lives will have meaning if they find a partner who wants nothing else in life but them. That’s not healthy. That’s falling in love with the idea of a person, not the actual person.
He said this in an interview where he was being asked about how (500) Days of Summer turned him into a "heartthrob". I love that he recognized that his character was selfish. I know a lot of girls who were like, "Oh, I hate Zooey Deschanel in that movie. How could she not want him?" They missed the whole point of the movie.
But do you know who Shakespeare was 2:05? Who he really was? Was he a liar? A fake? A deceiver? A phony? An image created by a puppet master?
In fairness, If you have a problem with liars, fakes, deceivers, phonies and false images then shouldn't you have a problem with Shakespeare? Or is it the words that reach and matter to you and not the man behind the words?
Don't be ridiculous 4:55. David Grohl isn't nearly hip, current or pretty enough to be recording with Deadmau5. I doubt that Deadmau5 has ever listened to a Foo Fighters or Them Crooked Vultures album in its entirety. Ever. He may have listened to an entire Nirvana album just for the street cred.

Ehrmahgerd! No, I am still here. Just have a lot of catching up to do, is all. Had a lot of work (until this week) and I took a side job teaching dance again. :)
Hey Welshie, Hey Misty! Hey, anons!
I had a dream last night that I was doing a Shakespeare play with Ben Wishaw. There was a river on stage and we had to get into some kind of boat ride. O_O Very odd.
Alright. Then I would have been feelin' Professional Griefers more if it was sung by Billie Joe Armstrong or Andy Biersack. "
Won't happen. Both BJA and Andy Biersack are too hip, cool, and pretty to collaborate with DeadMau5. BJA and Iggy Pop I can see. Andy Biersack and Motley Crue definitely. I could see them both collaborating with Skrillex.
Wow, did you guys know that a woman's body will shut down a potential pregnancy from a "legitimate rape"? So all that nonsense about women needing abortions as a consequence of rape is just a bunch of baloney.
I'm so glad we have all these intelligent, educated white men, who know so much more about our bodies than we silly women do ourselves, making laws for us.
Thank you, GOP, for legislating my vagina. I'm just a little woman, after all, with no understanding how my own body works.
I'm just trying to figure out what constitutes a "legitimate" rape.
Is it one where the woman gets the shit beaten out of her? I mean, just how badly does she have to be beaten? Maybe it's only legitimate if she fights back so hard she gets killed. That would certainly "shut down" an unwanted pregnancy.
I suppose that statutory rape doesn't count. So if a 12 year old consents to having sex with say, her father, because she believes she should do what her daddy tells her, she isn't legitimately being raped.
JFC, the mind boggles. I feel like I'm on the wrong freakin' planet, and I would like for the aliens who left me here to come and pick me up, please.
Exactly. Todd Akin and Paul Ryan were two of the guys trying to redefine rape to mean "forcible" rape. In other words, if you were drunk, unconscious, or just too scared to fight back, well, that wouldn't count. I'm sure that's what he meant by "legitimate rape." Because you know, silly bitches, sometimes think they are being rapes when in fact, they aren't!
Fortunately, ladies, your magic uterus knows the difference. "Female bodies" know how to "shut that whole thing down." Doctors said so.
So: Scientific ignorance? Check. Misogyny, check. Dangerous ideology, check. Pretty much a typical day at the GOP.
I tweeted to this asshead yesterday, you know, "female bodies" do have a way of "shutting that whole thing down." You just keep trying to make it illegal, dipshit.
"too cool and hip" I mean Billie Joe and U2?? lol.
Can you name any recording artist who would have balls enough to say no to Bono? Especially on a record for charity involving one of the biggest musical cities in the world? What artist alive or dead could have said no to music rising? That could have been the nail in their coffin. Their would be no music without the influence of Jazz and Blues. Without the infusion of the African beat.
Green Day's collaboration with U2 on The Saints Are Coming was heartfelt and brilliant. BJA and his family spent time in New Orleans helping build homes for displaced citizens. U2 and Green Day both helped in getting instruments back to musicians. Not much is cooler than that.
Anybody that has problem with charitable events, be they songs available for download, live concerts, art for saie or whatever does have a serious fucking problem. What kind of person disses charity? Fucking pathetic.
Hell fucking yeah Billie Joe and U2. Two of the biggest most influential rock bands of this century and the last. What better collab could you ask for?
Seriously? What collab would you like to see and for what cause?
What kind of people have a problem with musicians trying to help get musical instruments to other professional musicians who have lost everything? Must be sad ass, pathetic people who have a problem with that.
Are these Mayo trolls or MCR trolls or just generic trolls?
People, those links aren't what they say they are. If people seriously want to bring attention to something, they would be up front about it. Trolling makes the whole thing look bad.
Anonymous said... Wow, did you guys know that a woman's body will shut down a potential pregnancy from a "legitimate rape"?
Wow, what is wrong with your country's politicians? What planet do some of them live on? Over here, we see these things on the news and we wince, we cannot believe that a supposedly educated country can have people who believe this stuff and hold these views.
Some things just make me so sad. Is this really the 21st century cos sometimes it doesn't feel that way.
You Americans must have the patience of a saint not to actually stone these people to death.
OK rant over.
The dancing sounds brilliant K, I myself have no rhythm and feel like a damp dishcloth when I attempt to dance.
Misty, I am personally so out of patience with these insane, ignorant conservatives that I don't even know what to do with myself. In fact, Todd Akin is just the last in a long line of these people trying to say that women don't really get pregnant from rape, and anyway, bitches lie about rape, and anyway, women should accept a child born of rape as "a gift from god." (Rick Santorum actually said that.)
And let's not forget, Todd Akin and Paul Ryan (Mitt Romney's running mate,) were trying to introduce a bill to redefine rape as "FORCIBLE" rape. So, if you're drunk, or unconscious, or too afraid to fight back - well then, that's not "legitimate rape."
“He wanted all to lie in an ecstasy of peace; I wanted all to sparkle and dance in a glorious jubilee. I said his heaven would be only half alive; and he said mine would be drunk: I said I should fall asleep in his; and he said he could not breathe in mine.”
I'm currently reading Cloud Atlas, and I find I hear Ben Whishaw's voice narrating Robert Frobisher's Letters from Zedelghem. This is not a bad thing. :)
1:31, I might go, too. Everyone's saying it's a pretty basic summer action flick, nothing really special, but also pretty good for what it is. I was actually thinking that it would be kind of dumb, but apparently not. I might go out tomorrow and have a looksee.
Also, jeez, so sad about Neil Armstrong, right? But still, what an amazing life!
How about Pussy Riot? What a government sanctioned violation of feminist rights and human rights in Russia?
What did those women do that deserved a two year prison sentence? A russian prison. They exercised their artistic freedom of expression. How dare they? Take them away from their children. Take them away from the families. Shut them up. Off with their heads.
Such modesty and honorable intentions. He didn't do it for love or even for the love of money. He wasn't paid that much. He did it for himself. To get back into shape and for box office credibility. How hollywood can you get?
I find it odd how everyone on ONTD hates JGL these days. One lousy comment, which he apologized for, and they won't get off his back. He used to be their boyfriend du jour.
Of course, ONTD isn't representative of the rest of the world, but still. I haven't seen them on anybody this bad since Michael Fassbender.
Such is the way of unforgiveness. Especially regarding the flavor of the month. Hell hath no fury like a fangirl scorned. How dare their idol wrong them after all they invested in said idol? JGL will learn. Just as all idols before him have. At the end of the day, he won't care any more than the ones who came before him.
A mixed gender party with music. How dare they? They so deserved to be shot and beheaded for that great crime.
During Taliban rule, most types of music were made illegal, and anyone caught attending a mixed-gender party faced stiff punishment, including death in the most extreme cases.
Makes you wonder where priorities really are when so many people in other countries are fighting, being imprisoned or executed for what the privileged western world chooses to ignore. What all of you in your privileged world choose to ignore. Global basic human rights must come before all else. Check your gender, race, religion and attitude at the door. Wake up and get a fucking clue as to what in going on in the world around you. Stop being so damn selfish and self centered. Recognize the fact that there are still places in the world where people are executed for dancing and imprisoned for artistic expression. Where women are still stoned to death or honor killed for being raped because she brought humiliation upon her family. She was guilty. Not the men who raped her.
You want to kill the weed. You start at the root not at the leaves.
I don't think you're wrong, 10:54. I agree completely that a general call for equality and much more proactive progress from those able to do something is desperately needed. I just wouldn't have said so with such an aggressive tone.
I don't think that anyone here would disagree that there are many injustices and atrocities committed in varying parts of the world 12:32. However I consider the argument presented by 10:54 narrow and too simplistic. I would like to know what 10:54 is doing or proposes to do, to fight against these injustices.
While it's all very well and good to rant about the injustices committed all over the world, there is very little that we can do other than to contribute to organizations that get in the trenches and try to educate, reform, etc. Other than that, people have very little control over what is done in other countries.
The best thing we can do here (in the US or in whatever country you happen to live in) is to fight to correct the wrongs in our own systems and in the attitudes of those around us. The prejudices and injustices that 10:54 talks about have been going on for centuries, and they won't be reversed easily. Most of us just try to educate and raise awareness.
Right now in the US, most of us are just fighting to retain control of our own reproductive rights and healthcare, along with fighting the attitudes of men who think we're just a bunch of dumb bitches. Maybe that's not a massive enough undertaking for 10:54, but it's a start. And it's better than nothing.
I agree 4:48 and I would like to add that it's usually all the small injustices that nip away at a person's autonomy and identity that can eventually lead on to greater injustices.
I don't consider it selfish or self centered to be concerned about what happens in your own country.
We can't let women's rights go backwards in this country, because if we do, who's to say where it will stop? Redefining rape and taking away our reproductive freedom today could lead to stripping us of other rights tomorrow.
The Avengers will be playing in theatres again this Labor Day weekend. Everyone should go see it again on the big screen while they still can. And stay until the end of the credits for Shawarma!
Anonymous said... 17 people beheaded in the middle east for singing and dancing.
For fucking singing and dancing. Is there a more gross and disgusting violation of human rights than that in the world today? Anyone?
This, the Pussy Riot situation, all these things stem from weak men. They are so scared of losing their power, it is all about their fear. So they use violence or punishment to impose rule. They also try to invoke the name of religion to justify these actions.
Men and religion have caused almost all the problems this world has ever faced.
I don't agree with you Miss T, I don't think it's about weakness, it's about power. There are some people that want it and would do anything to keep it. It's their drug.
Unfortunately these are usually the people that get to the top of the pile.
I think Miss T and 9:48 are pretty much saying the same thing. I agree with both of you.
There is very little compassion in this world. People have to want to make things better, and that usually comes with personal sacrifice. People are also much easier to control when they are afraid. Which is how it appears Russia rolls. I fully believe if more people in that country tried to speak up about the injustices there, things would have to change on an official level. But it would be a very painful path for those willing to stand up. I don't know if anyone has the right to ask that of ordinary people. But that is how most change comes about. I hope the remaining band members still stuck there survive their unjustified imprisonment. Whatever happens, they stood up for what they believed in. They deserve respect for that. I hope they get to return to their families some day.
I partially agree and partially disagree with Miss T. Putin is a weak man. There is no doubt about that. Anyone who calls Putin a friend is also weak. Any leader of any country who doesn't have the balls to stand up to him is weak.
Where I disagree with Miss T is that the few countries with leaders who have stood up to Putin and dictators like him, like Israel, have done so because of their strong religious heritage. Because of their spiritual beliefs that all are created equal. That all should have a voice that is heard by government. That everyone deserves a home and homeland where they can feel safe and be free to express themselves and worship as they wish. No government should dictate spiritual beliefs to any of their citizens. Religion should be a freedom and not law of state. People in the middle east should not be required to be Muslim or killed if they are not. People in Russia should not be required to adhere to the doctrine of the church of Russia or be imprisoned. People in Egypt should not be required to bow down to the Sphinx. People in Thailand, Cambodia and Tibet should not be expected to be Buddhists and shouldn't be discriminated against if they are not Buddhists.
It's not weak men and religion. It's weakness and fear of any belief different from your own. It's the threat of something you don't understand. It's lack of respect and understanding. It's ignorance and it's all too easy to blame religion for that ignorance instead of blaming ourself and our lack of understanding, tolerance, respect and appreciation.
Funny how the ancient tribes of Africa, Europe and the Americas could all respect one another and their different spiritual beliefs yet we are still ignorant enough to blame those beliefs for all the world's problems. Not so funny really. Just dumb.
If you think about it. Really think about it. There's not much difference between punishing someone for not following a religion than there is for blaming someone for following a religion. It's the same thing. Discrimination and religious persecution. Two things that should have been done away with over a century ago.
Guess some people didn't learn a thing from the Spanish Inquisition or the Salem Witch trials. Just let people be. Let them worship as they wish. It's trying to stop free worship and force your will and beliefs on them that starts wars. Wars for freedom.
I agree 11:12 to 12:24: tolerance makes for a cohesive society, however I think that people who are interested in absolute power usually don't prioritize fairness or benevolence.
Even in a society that prides itself on tolerance and free speech, things can turn in the opposite direction when there are the right conditions for fear, for example a harsh economic downturn when everyone is concerned about their and their family's future.
There's not much difference between punishing someone for not following a religion than there is for blaming someone for following a religion. It's the same thing. Discrimination and religious persecution.
And here we go with the poor, downtrodden religious people again.
The difference is that non-religious people have never tried to pass laws forcing their non-religion on people. Have never persecuted, killed, or oppressed religious people. That whole thing is done solely by religious people, trying (and mostly succeeding) in passing laws on the rest of us (abortion, gay marriage, atheists not allowed to hold office, etc.) YOU ARE NOT BEING OPPRESSED.
Your phrasing is very telling, and very wrong. You say there isn't much difference between "punishing" and "blaming." Actually, those are two vastly different things. Look those words up, if you're not sure what they mean.
If religious people punish others for not being religious (which they do,) you bet your sweet ass I'm going to blame them for punishing others.
The problem with so many religions and many religious people is that they have the tendency to think that their belief is the only "true" one and that all the others are hell bound heathens who aren't deserving of respect or tolerance. This often grows to the point where it resembles insanity. Case in point: the Westboro loons.
Of course this is not new. History is rife with people who have been convinced that God is on their side and will condone any type of injustice and violence so long as it's done in his name.
If there is a god or gods, I think he, she or they (whatever the case may be) probably hates organized religion.
Yes, you want to "help" them right out of their freedom and their rights. Gays aren't forcing you to marry, but if religion had its way (which it mostly does,) it would force gays to abide by their rules - which oppress them.
And also, trying to "help" someone who, hello, DOES NOT NEED YOUR HELP, is so condescending, I can't even.
Part of Christianity is spreading The Word. Spreading the Word doesn't mean that you HATE sinners, just that you are trying to help them.
Yeah, sure. But which "Word" are you trying to spread?
It has been my experience with "Christians" that they pick and chose which part of the bible they want to spread. Like the ones who think divorce and remarriage is perfectly fine among hetero couples, but gays can't marry at all, even though the bible has more bad things to say about divorce than it does about homosexuality. Also, the bible doesn't say anything about abortion.
I personally can't see how this "word" that was written by men two thousand years ago (longer for the old testament) has anything to do with my life or anyone else's in today's world.
" Barr's resignation comes after the New York Post revealed a damaging lawsuit against the Homeland Security Department, the agency of which the ICE is a part of. In the lawsuit, former Homeland Security agent James Hayes claims that male employees faced a "hostile work environment" under Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
The lawsuit accuses Barr in particular of "sexually offensive" behavior intended to "humiliate and intimidate male employees," according to the Post. Hayes added that Barr and Napolitano were close friends.
In addition, another former ICE employee has claimed that Barr offered a US diplomat oral sex, and yet another worker says that she told a senior employee that he is a "sexy motherf---,"
You know what? Men get raped too. But how often do you hear about it? Not often, because it just doesn't happen as often as it does to women. Why? Because women are considered weaker and because women don't have the power men have in our society.
Nobody should have to work in a sexually hostile environment.
USA folks, REGISTER TO VOTE. Republicans are counting on lots of people who support Obama NOT being registered in time. It's real easy, everyone. You can do it online.

Thank you VV, for keeping a place open where we can all gather to exchange ideas, talk about issues, or talk about movies, Avengers, Tom Hardy, or just about anything else. Thanks for sticking around!
I second the comment at 7:00. I'm especially grateful for the Hollow Crown downloads.
This blog stopped being about that band none of us listen to anymore a long, long time ago.
Any thoughts on the Chick-fil-a controversy?
I stopped going there a few months back, even though I do like their char-grilled sandwiches. I've known about their anti-gay stance for a while now, plus, I don't like that they close on Sunday. That seems so outdated in the 21st century.
I know a lot of people who go there because they're one of the most convenient places on my university campus to eat.
I think the owners have every right to their misguided, archaic opinions, but I won't be one of the people supporting them.

Miss T have you any Boris Johnston t-shirts?
I just watched his series The dream of Rome and I think I've become a fan.
LOL Anon, I'm not sure, I've never looked. I'm sure I could get you one printed up hahah!
Mind. Fucking. Blown. This deserves a Kerp face.
it's better than being a bitter, unreasonable 27+ yr old twat. jus' sayin'.
Why did you pick that arbitrary number for your ageism?
This is all just one person posting under multiple personalities.
Hahahahahaa LMFAO I love a good conspiracy theory. Yes, obviously only ONE person in the whole world could disagree with your teen idol band.
Fucktard.
If these comments sound like they are coming from a 12 year old, then I must be one level-headed, open-minded pre-teen
My 11 year old is more level headed than you. And he would never use the term "hella money".
No wonder you're "22" and unemployed.
Scared now?
PART 1
@ All the Anons
@ ANON 8:35
Why are you on this blog if you have an 11-year-old son?
PART 2
@ ANON 9:58
Music for the night: Lou Reed Satellite of Love

BB JGL on cheesy vampire show.
My bet is he still screams like that. ^_~
Lol. He was an adorable kid.
Dark Shadows was so dumb, but I loved the original when I was a little kid. I don't know why they keep trying to remake it. It was one of those things that was a product of its time, and they'll never recapture the original's melodramatic camp. :/
What is it with guys and glossy deep red nailpolish?
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20111009081407AAMLaQA
Maybe. Must be the scent.
Yahoo answers is probably not the best place to learn about 16th century literature.
No more than the internet is the best place to learn about life and how to live it.
LOL
Stop fighting
Who's fighting? You think a difference of opinion is a fight? It doesn't become a fight or turn personal until someone is called dumbass, moron, idiot or troll because of their opinion. That's when the fight starts. That's when you should show up and say stop it.
However, some people are dumbasses, morons, idiots and trolls. Those words to me are all interchangable with "homophobe" and "racist" and "sexist."
Personally if someone is saying idiotic things, they are well.... an idiot.
It also becomes a fight and turns personal when someone says that you're ugly, fat, or yo momma dresses you funny. Insults are insults. Whether they're about your physical appearance, perceived intellect or personal opinions.
Still, Mya? After all these years you're still hanging onto getting called out? Aren't you supposed to let things go?
^ 9:41 - Mya was butthurt to an extreme degree. To a pathological degree actually. I truly believe that if she had been able to physically hurt Kapunua, she probably would have tried to. She went so far out of her way to get into her real life, I can only imagine that if she for example lived in her neighborhood, she would have done something like key her car, put shit in her mailbox, or something actually violent.
I also think it's only a matter of time before Mya does something she can't take back, to someone in real life. Her mindset is not healthy.
It seemed like fighting to me, 9:20. But, whatever you say. Goodnight
Not only that, the man understood human nature so well that his characters' emotions and motivations still ring true and strike a chord with readers today. Shakespeare was quite simply "life set to poetry".
Absolutely agree. It's like peering into the psyche of the human condition when you read his works.
I believe Shakespeare would be one of E. L. James' biggest supporters.
LMAO.
Sounds like you're one of E.L. James' biggest supporters. Does reading it get you hot "down there"?
Personally, I prefer Shakespeare.
*shrugs*
I have to agree with you 6:44. I've known many guys that secretly lust for some horny girl to completely dominate them and f*** their brains out.
*got sick
Maybe I'm still a bit of a prude, but I think that kind of thing should remain private between two people. I don't like reading about other people's sex lives.
Hiya guys, how are you all?

Song for the night: Blur There's No Other Way
Anon, I love Blur. Once saw them at Sheffield Arena. I was down at the front and got so squashed against the barrier I had to be pulled out. Managed to get back to the front though hee hee! Ended up with bruises on each hip the size on dinner plates. Worth it.
Hiya Miss T. :)
I love Blur too.
The whole thing creeps me out.
I have to agree with you 11:50, there is nothing wrong about discussing sex in general but I also think that personal intimacy between two people should be private.
I think the same way about people that throw their love for their girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife in people's faces as if they are the only ones who experience these feelings.
It's best kept private.

In the book I believe she is an inexperienced 19, and he is 27. How can you take this seriously?

You know, the more certain people hate techno music the more I listen to it.
It makes me so happY!!!
Like a dolphin that jumps out of the water, twirls in the air, and jumps back into the sea.
That sort of happy.
Oh my goodness, why would anyone talk about revenge this, revenge that, I'm here for "insert pop star name" on some random music video???
I mean, why-oh-why-oh-why??
;)
I'm here for Shakespeare and JGL.
If you're not into dance, you shouldn't pretend you are.
And who wears Empire strikes back t-shirts past 30?
Bit tacky.
I think a person can wear whatever the fuck they want, no matter what age they happen to be.
Ageism is tacky, imo.
I really miss The Hollow Crown and the talk of Shakespeare. :(
Nothing worse than someone who thinks they're Jedi and a dancer.
:/
What did he say 5:39?
WTF? I don't know who the hell you people are talking about. If I had to guess I would say Gerard Way said something about revenge and dancing and you can't resist following his every word. You're still paying attention to him because you still care about the band and their music no matter how much you deny it. You're still invested.
Lol, 8:39. I think the comments you're referring to are trolls. I don't have a clue what Gerard Way is up to these days.
What did he say 5:39?
Nah 11:03, imo they are trying to bring up talk about their idol again.
^8:39 is
Ben Whishaw is glorious. You should watch The Hour. I would also recommend Criminal Justice.
Who 8:39AM???
Never heard of him.
But I have heard of Shakespeare!
I'm would have been feelin' Professional Griefers more if it was sung by Dave Grohl.

Hey Welshie, Hey Misty! Hey, anons!
I had a dream last night that I was doing a Shakespeare play with Ben Wishaw. There was a river on stage and we had to get into some kind of boat ride. O_O Very odd.

Won't happen. Both BJA and Andy Biersack are too hip, cool, and pretty to collaborate with DeadMau5. BJA and Iggy Pop I can see. Andy Biersack and Motley Crue definitely. I could see them both collaborating with Skrillex.
For once 3:26, I'm with you about the Andy B and Skrillex matchup, but I don't think they're "too cool and hip" I mean Billie Joe and U2?? lol.
They just have a different image and sound which probably doesn't best suit Joel's style.
I happen to think that Skrillex is pretty talented and his move to electric music an intelligent one.
His style is more digital hardcore imo, than dubstep and if anyone knew about drum and bass and UK garage they would know it's a whole new trajectory.

What sort of dance are you teaching Kapunua?
Hula and Tahitian. So much fun! ^_^
/massive sarcasm
There is, however, no end to my my current rage.
It's unbelievable isn't it, 2:32! I've never heard such bull in all my life >_<
I'm just trying to figure out what constitutes a "legitimate" rape.
Beyond angry.
Billie Joe and U2 what's not cool about that? That is Tre cool.
Anybody that has problem with charitable events, be they songs available for download, live concerts, art for saie or whatever does have a serious fucking problem. What kind of person disses charity? Fucking pathetic.
"I mean Billie Joe and U2?? lol.
"
Hell fucking yeah Billie Joe and U2. Two of the biggest most influential rock bands of this century and the last. What better collab could you ask for?
Seriously? What collab would you like to see and for what cause?
The collaboration came out great, the purpose behind it even better. Someone is just trolling dissing it.
Agreed 1:01. Who could not respect Green Day and U2 for that collaboration? It was pure magic.
What kind of people have a problem with musicians trying to help get musical instruments to other professional musicians who have lost everything? Must be sad ass, pathetic people who have a problem with that.

Wow. Muse. So impressed!
What a great band.
Dance is SO much fun, and so necessary. :D
Yup. This country.
It's all very scary Kapunua.
I can't help thinking about the pre-
Gileadian society that Margaret Atwood writes of in her novel A Handmaiden's Tale

“He wanted all to lie in an ecstasy of peace; I wanted all to sparkle and dance in a glorious jubilee. I said his heaven would be only half alive; and he said mine would be drunk: I said I should fall asleep in his; and he said he could not breathe in mine.”

I love that book.
I'm currently reading Cloud Atlas, and I find I hear Ben Whishaw's voice narrating Robert Frobisher's Letters from Zedelghem. This is not a bad thing. :)
Premium Rush is getting some decent reviews from critics. 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is really not bad at all.
I was planning to wait for the DVD, but with slim pickin's at the theaters this time of year, I might just give it a shot.

Also, jeez, so sad about Neil Armstrong, right? But still, what an amazing life!
I just painted my nails with midnight glitter. I love glitter and midnight.
Deep purple glitter is cool too.

That's just two steps above women being stoned to death for adultery in the middle east. Government approved stoning to death.
Jude Law dancing
Such modesty and honorable intentions. He didn't do it for love or even for the love of money. He wasn't paid that much. He did it for himself. To get back into shape and for box office credibility. How hollywood can you get?
That situation with Pussy Riot is such an outrage. Way to silence women!
Good to see Jude enjoying the music.
17 people beheaded in the middle east for singing and dancing.
For fucking singing and dancing. Is there a more gross and disgusting violation of human rights than that in the world today? Anyone?
http://abcnews.go.com/International/taliban-behead-17-singing-dancing/story?id=17084797#.UDwv8Y6yp0g

10:54, you mean like you? YOu're not a privileged westerner? You somehow "recognize the fact" while no one else does?
Get off your high horse.
^ Well said. We do what we can.
I agree 4:48 and I would like to add that it's usually all the small injustices that nip away at a person's autonomy and identity that can eventually lead on to greater injustices.
I don't consider it selfish or self centered to be concerned about what happens in your own country.
Music for the evening: Bowie Hunky Dory
Deadmau5 Faxing Berlin
And lots and lots of tR4nC3
We can't let women's rights go backwards in this country, because if we do, who's to say where it will stop? Redefining rape and taking away our reproductive freedom today could lead to stripping us of other rights tomorrow.
The Avengers will be playing in theatres again this Labor Day weekend. Everyone should go see it again on the big screen while they still can. And stay until the end of the credits for Shawarma!

This, the Pussy Riot situation, all these things stem from weak men. They are so scared of losing their power, it is all about their fear. So they use violence or punishment to impose rule. They also try to invoke the name of religion to justify these actions.
Men and religion have caused almost all the problems this world has ever faced.
^ As usual, I'm with Misty on this.
I don't agree with you Miss T, I don't think it's about weakness, it's about power. There are some people that want it and would do anything to keep it. It's their drug.
Unfortunately these are usually the people that get to the top of the pile.
My opinion.
Part of Christianity is spreading The Word. Spreading the Word doesn't mean that you HATE sinners, just that you are trying to help them.
What do you define as a "sinner" 4:33?
Yes, you want to "help" them right out of their freedom and their rights. Gays aren't forcing you to marry, but if religion had its way (which it mostly does,) it would force gays to abide by their rules - which oppress them.
And also, trying to "help" someone who, hello, DOES NOT NEED YOUR HELP, is so condescending, I can't even.

Men face sexual harassment too.
"
Barr's resignation comes after the New York Post revealed a damaging lawsuit against the Homeland Security Department, the agency of which the ICE is a part of.
Poor, poor men. How do they cope?
You know what? Men get raped too. But how often do you hear about it? Not often, because it just doesn't happen as often as it does to women. Why? Because women are considered weaker and because women don't have the power men have in our society.
Nobody should have to work in a sexually hostile environment.
Harassment is harassment no matter the gender on the receiving end.
And I do feel for the men as it's generally taboo to discuss that this actually happens to males as well.
