I shouldn't have come back.

I'll tell you why I didn't comment on the Cancer example by the other anon -my best friend died of Cancer last year. It killed me. I didn't comment on it, because I couldn't type it. So thank you for that, 7:52 and 7:55. I didn't find the Cancer comparison appropriate either. Because it does hurt when it is someone you know and love that is being affected. There was also a local boy in my hometown, 4 years old -he was hit by a car and died a few days ago. Would I find that example appropriate to make a point? No I wouldn't. I'm ill just tying it now.

Not a damn thing Lindsey has said, nor the examples you have given from Gerard and Frank or that horrific band MSI's lyrics, were ever appropriate. I found them all disgusting and well over the line. Are you people satisfied now? Regardless of all of this, no matter how much I dispise or hold no respect for a person - I still wouldn't hypothosize or "joke" (as you are calling Lindsey's comment) about people they know -or don't know- dying. Nothing in death is amusing or should be taken lightly. -Even if to prove a point.

If you wish to twist my words and accuse me of fangirling again, then so be it. But I will find your thought-process just as unbelievable, as you appear to think of mine. Good day to you.

Funny how she doesn't seem to have a problem playing bass along to JU's lyrics he spits out about fucking 'whores' on all fours and dreaming about sexually abusing five year old girls.

Can you tell me why it's okay for you to use examples of your experiences and hurt with tragedy to prove or defend your point, but not okay for anyone else to do the same for Lindsey's benefit?

Except the OP wasn't using anything lightly or for her amusement. She was using it to make a valid point, as you said. There was no joking tone to what they said at all.

Anonymous said...

Don't beg me for anything. I'm really, honestly sorry you've been personally affected by the examples given here but they are genuine examples that are used to illustrate a point, not jokes made at your expense. No one here would mock the death of any one, any child, through any tragedy. Talking about it is not the same as mocking it or making light of it. Using it for an example is not the same as mocking it or trivializing it. I understand your pain and hurt because I felt exactly the same when Lindsey made her joke. But Lindsey did it to be offensive and get a shock reaction. People here are not doing that, and even you accept they have a valid point.

Anonymous said...

Because she's being paid to be there doing her backbends and miming along to the bass track.

Anonymous said...

Yes but this is something which actually happened to people very recently. That would be like what Lindsey did with her joke about the tsunami. The OP did not use an actual event, they used a hypothetical. Of course it might be one people are sensitive to, but it was not used to mock a tragedy which occured. It was used to show people how their reactions to it differ depending on who it comes from. Lindsey mocked actual deaths which had occured. The OP was saying, what would happen if the tables were turned and the joke was made against her?

Wait, WHAT? Did Lindsey actually say that?

Is she seriously that goddamn stupid? This is almost unfathomable. Is she honestly that dense? I can't even imagine it.

Also, I think people think rape is funny are just plain sick. They obviously don't understand what that thing does to your esteem and how you handle everything in life.

Im a victim of incest-a survivor of incest-and it basically destroyed me. I was nine when it ended but during the whole ordeal I felt dead inside. So to hear people wishing for someone to get rape, or even singing about it, it hurts. st plain sick. They obviously don't understand what that thing does to your esteem and how you handle everything in life.

Yes, she said that in the Tasteit interview. I dont really get what she means by that.

Anonymous said...

I'm really sorry, 9.02. That's terrible. But I think it's really positive that you can have the courage to strongly speak out against people who trivialize rape. Many people (and most men) don't understand just how awful and destructive rape or joking about it is for those who've had people abuse them in that way.

Girl Germs said...

Thanks 9:07. Im just so tired of hearing "Oh, she/he was asking for it." and all that stuff. No one ask for it, thats stupid.

I learned that I shouldnt be afraid or ashamed to speak out about rape, because it wasnt my fault. Its never the victims fault.

I can't believe Lindsey said that. She's such a hypocritical POS. "No one should use slurs like that! Except me and my cool friends, and my husband, when he's bullying young girls online."

Yes, Gerard is 'not afraid' to call a 16 year old girl a sexist slur. How brave!

it is horrible. To me it was like suffocating-like a nightmare. But I learned to cope with it. Ill never forget, but I can move on.

Seriously, its selfish to think only you and your friends can say certain things-what runs through her head when she says these things-she probably thought that was smart to say. Its people like that that make the world unbearable to live in.

Anonymous said...

Wow this is my fist time at Veritavenom and... just wow.
This is deeper than I expected. I didn't know Lindsey Way was like that. Oh my god... I used to like mcr/msi ...like bought a lot of their music/ merch now (long story short) I don't. Actually heard about this site in school two girls arguing about what lindsey said. I could never find the link to hear the audio but the other girl said Lindsey only said it because she felt determined to even play through/ and after the tsunami that's why she said "fuck the tsunami who cares?" but...wow this is deep.

Anonymous said...

"Lindsey only said it because she felt determined to even play through/ and after the tsunami that's why she said "fuck the tsunami who cares?"

So then, really the only thing Lindsey did wrong in regard to the Tsunami comment, was to be taken extremely out of context. Interesting.

Exactly. If some other artist/celeb said something like, "We should tour in East Africa. Fuck the famine. Who cares?" then they'd have been fucking crucified for it, and you know it. Lindsey doesn't get a free pass on being an offensive, racist, thoughtless, selfish, disgusting person just because she's married to Gerard Way.

I've got 3 in the aviary and I can bring them in. But I released 3 birds two weeks ago and I still see them hanging around in the yard. I'm so worried for them, and I'm afraid I might lost my aviary, or parts of it. Or the new little pool that just went up. Or the massive trees around my house. Just worried in general!

I really feel for you Kapunua and understand your concern for them. But one thing I honesty believe is that all animals are more in touch with their senses and are aware of what's about to go down. They will probably start reacting far earlier and know it's coming, so I think they will seek shelter as soon as they sense it. The main thing is that you, your family and your pets keep safe.

Lol @MCR for bringing on a big name (Brian May) to the Reading stage.

The real reason he was there was brush up their knowledge on the laws of thermodynamics backstage.

Anonymous said...

Oh Brian, what were you thinking? It seems that nobody really gives a damn anymore about who they're associating with.

Reminds me when Serj Tankian complimented MSI for not being boring. As long as you're not denying the genocide in Armenia he seems to be okay with other people being discriminated and hated, I guess.

Also, am I the only one who thinks that they asked Brian May to play with them so that they wouldn't get bottled this time?

Anonymous said...

Well Brian May didn't come out until the end of the set. If bottles were going to be thrown they had plenty of time at the beginning.

I also hope that everyone who lives in the area which is about to face hurricane Irene will stay safe!
Kapunua, just like the anon I think that your birds can sense the danger way before it's about to happen.

Anonymous said...

Maybe people were too drunk to be bothered to bottle MCR?

Anonymous said...

In all honesty it looked like a good crowd for them, and many people knew the words and they were received very well. But they have always had a strong fanbase in the UK and since the diehard metalheads weren't there to bottle them (no metal band on after MCR to wait around for) they got off without a hitch.

I think it's interesting that Gerard answered the question 'are you going back into the studio to record an album after the Honda Civic tour' with 'yes maybe we'll bang out something quickly'.

Methinks they're under pressure to make another record to push on the general american consumer market. Viva la BL/ind!

So like, are you stupid?

Anonymous said...

I think most of the crowd who weren't MCR fans had already left. Besides, Brian May's appearance had already been leaked (on purpose, I'm sure).

I have to say that I am disappointed in Brian, but then MCR did copy Queen rather shamelessly on TBP, so I guess the guy was flattered.

At any rate, I doubt any new fans were won by MCR.

Hocking said...

last I looked he was worth something like 28 million... I think thats right

Anonymous said...

Where did you find that he was worth 28 million?? I'd be surprised if he is worth even 5. I've always been under the impression that while they are all relatively comfortable financially, they are no where near multi-multi millionaires. His comic couldn't have brought him in that much, and the band owe WB millions of dollars for scrapped records, TBP tour that never broke even, and a former band mate that still recoups royalties. TUA movie was probably only optioned for a million dollars, so yeah, I want to see it in print or I find that very hard to believe.

I wrote an email to Brian after getting his email off [producer] Rob Cavallo. There was this story that you [Queen] played a show in Paris and got booed off and Freddie [Mercury] said, 'We’re gonna come back and be the biggest band in the world'. And after what happened to us at Reading in 2006 [when they were bottled], people would ask us, 'Are you gonna do that again? [play the festival]' and I’d go, 'Not unless we're headlining it.'

Is he honestly comparing himself to Queen now? That guy is off his rocker.

people would ask us, 'Are you gonna do that again? [play the festival]' and I’d go, 'Not unless we're headlining it.

Of course, you had to headline the festival so that no band would perform after you anymore and no angry fans were forced to endure your horrible performance and thus be tempted to bottle you again, you coward.

Also, I don't know anymore where I got this from. If somebody posted this here or whatever. It's dated but still an interesting read.

That sounds like such a fun life. 28 million isn't worth living like that.

Anonymous said...

According to Eliza he was happy to cheat with his long term partner with her while on tour during the Revenge days, and this was when the band made hardly anything. Some women just like the attention, and the men? Well, they just like the sex enough that they can't manage with beating off for a month until they get back from tour.

Of course, according to Megan Mayhem of the WMHC, Kat was a 'bad girlfriend' and deserved to be cheated on because she didn't 'support' Gerard in the early days.

There is no way the entire band is worth that much money, let alone Gerard himself. I don't put much stock in that website. It looks like they are guesstimating on celebrity's net worth but have no real facts to back that up. I realize it doesn't matter how much money G Way makes, I just find it interesting that so many people think they are rich just because they are semi famous. I would guess each of their networths to be somewhere around 7 million at the max.

Anonymous said...

That website is probably basing its guestimate on TBP era when MCR actually sold albums and their members were doing a better job of disguising their now overt racism and sexism. Once the racist wife and her nasty little bunch of friends came onto the scene, Gerard's true colors came out and that's when his band started to tank in terms of sales.

Anonymous said...

He semes to attract racist women doesn't he? Speaks volumes about what his own view on minorities must be, along with the way he threatens to beat the shit out of women and is 'proud to call them cunts'.

BTW, Eliza never actually apologized for her racism, she just claimed she 'didn't mean to be racist' when she used a racist slur. And then photographed herself hugging two random black men at a gas station to prove it.

I really think that Gerard only adopts the mindset of the people he surrounds himself with. I guess that this Kat or whoever he was with in the Revenge era was a feminist or at least used to talk to him about shitty sexist rock bands and what bad things she experienced as a woman at rock concerts and he just parroted all of those things because he thought it makes him appear intellectual and different. The same with his rants about homophobia.
With those MSI clowns I think it's a symbiosis between totally uneducated fools who feed each other their ignorant and dangerous world views and thus don't realize what idiots they are since they're all taking out of their own asses and the blind is leading the blind.

The thing is Gerard is now surrounded by women who are those kinds of "feminists" (Jessicka Addams, Amanda Palmer, Margaret Cho) who call themselves cunts and bitches and what have you and think that this is empowering and makes them reclaim those words for us women when in reality it makes it even harder for men (and women) to realize what's misogynistic behavior and what is acceptable. I guess that's why Gerard is under the illusion that calling someone a cunt is not misogynistic at all.

Yes, that is complete bullshit. KOL have been around longer, they have sold tons more records, and they have more successful tours. They played Hyde Park to more than 40,000 people (a show that sold out in under an hour). They've played Slane Castle to 80,000 people. They've done resident gigs at the O2 in London.

Plus, the site has a disclaimer regarding its accuracy. I think it's probably about as reliable as that bit on Wikipedia (that eventually got deleted due to lack of citation) that said Danger Days sold a zillion copies.

There are a few entertainers that are principled and socially minded, but that's a very few. For most of them it's a business and the business is to make money.

Anonymous said...

This doesn't have anything to do with being principled or socially minded. It's about common sense. That woman has earned millions of dollars by herself and her husband probably has five times as much or whatever. Two million dollars must be pocket money for her. So, I think she didn't do this for the money but for the prestige to be chosen by a terrorist's son. So dangerous and so edgy.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter how much they have, it's still all about the money.

Anonymous said...

I think we're just laughing at what some people think they're worth.

Exactly.

It's completely ridiculous to think that someone like GW would have more money than the lead singer of Linkin Park, when Hybrid Theory alone has sold more than 25 million records worldwide. That's more than all of MCR's records combined.

They also have Gerard's worth at more than half of Billie Joe Armstrong's ($28 mil vs $55 mil), when Green Day has sold more than 65 million records. Not to mention Green Day has been around for more than 20 years and they have a hit Broadway play based on one of their albums. No way BJA isn't worth at least 10 times what Gerard Way is.

I think maybe that site gets some of its info from fangirls. It's quite a hoot, actually.

kapunua said...

WTF, did she really? That's disgusting! What the hell? I had no idea. Ugh. That's purely insane.

Siobhan, thanks for the reblog, too! Loved that article. It said it so perfectly.

Hey guys hey. Still haven't seen my birds but I am holding out hope. :)

It wasn't just celebs getting cosy with the Gaddafi family. The London school of economics fucked up when they took a 'donation' from one of his sons to allow him to get a PhD through them, and Tony Blair was al chummy with him too a few years before he left office. People never learn; they're just blinded by greed and the lust for power, however corrupt and criminal the people the're using to get it may be.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Lindsey has a joke ready about touring the east coast.

Anonymous said...

That article was great, Kapunua. Thanks for bringing it to my attention in the first place.
I hope your birds come back soon.

Did anyone of you watch the VMAs? Were MCR nominated for an award or did they win one? I guess not.

Lynn said...

That has to hurt that Justin Bieber has had more nominations and awards than MCR. I bet Gerard would like to smash Justin's face in.....if he was a girl. Who would bet Justin could take Gerard in a tween fight?

Anonymous said...

Seriously why would anyone care about a VMA award? Like they mean anything. And even though Gerard is stupid, I doubt he would care about it either.

Anonymous said...

Who would have thought that LynZ and Michele Bachmann have so much in common?

Anyone here read about Ms. Tea Party saying that Hurricane Irene was God's way of telling the politicians that he's had enough of them not listening to the American public? And now her handlers are saying she was "just joking". Yeah. Joking about all that destruction and loss of life. Hilarious, isn't it?

Anonymous said...

I certainly hope that none of those anit-government, anti-handout Teaparty folks who were affected by Irene are not planning to take any money from the government to repair any of the damage they sustained. That might adversely affect the National Debt.

Whats wrong with Jessicka? I like her and her music-which isnt racist, sexist, or misogynistic. she may be friends with idiots, but that doesnt mean shes going around contridicting herself. What are your opinions on riot grrl then? calling yourself 'cunt' or 'slut' wasnt meant to be seen as ok. It was meant in a political sense. If women dress a tad bit provocotively theyre are considered sluts-get it. Im not saying using those words is okay, by the way, because in reality they arent... but I will admit I have used those words-but I regret using them. (I dont think we should be afraid of those words, too. fear impowers the person who uses them.)

I had no idea Beyonce performed for Gaffai's sons party. I can only hope she did it out of ignorance, because to be honest, I had no clue who Gadaffi was until this year. I had never heard of him or what he has done before everything kicked off in Libya. I really hope she didn't know either because I really do think she's awesome.

Anonymous said...

2:43, I think you're wrong. I think Gerard would care a hell of a lot if MCR got nominated for a VMA. I mean, when has MCR ever won a mainstream award?

Anonymous said...

Didn't they win that finger award that night they played with balaclavas?

Anonymous said...

What's your problem 3:55? Don't like looking at sexy men, only "fredard" pictures? Eww.

You know it would have been a marvelous idea if they kept those balaclavas on indefinitely ^_^

They won a Kerrang award for best band on the planet.

Anonymous said...

Lol, I wouldn't call a Kerrang award mainstream. Or even something most bands would want.

Anonymous said...

MCR wanted those VMAs they were nominated for back in 05 so bad they could taste them. They went all out for that show, with their Armani suits, the arrival in an armoured car and their performance (which sucked, btw, and Gerard's "This is for you Grandma!" at the end was cringe-worthy).

They were so starry-eyed that night it was almost embarrassing to watch.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone else see Gerard's new wrist tattoo at Reading? I've been trying to get a pic of it but can't find anything so far :(

Anonymous said...

Are you sure about that, 6:59?

Anonymous said...

6:16AM, what's wrong with being starry-eyed when you first start out? They're all like that in the begining.

Anonymous said...

If MCR had remained the way they were back in 05 I think most of us would still be fans. Now they're "too edgy" to want to win VMA awards.

In reality, they were probably so disappointed that they didn't win those kinds of things they put up this edgy front. I think Gerard would kill for the kind of mainstream success he claims he's too edgy for.

Notice how she doesn't deny befriending people who who think using racist slurs is 'cool' and 'funny'. Very telling...

What do you expect from the 'feminist' who is friends with a man who is proud to want to punch women?

kapunua said...

UGH, I jsut had to say something to that Jessicka person. I still don't know who the hell she is, but she's got a big mouth apparently, and she defends these morons under the flag of feminism. Gross.

Oh, I do love that quote from Tom Hardy!

And yep, I did read that Michelle Bachman thing. Actually that went up on my Tumblr too. WTF kind of idiot? That's a stupid question, actually. I know exactly what kind of idiot.

Also, for those following along with my bird drama, I think I've located all of my birds. :D I saw my missing one today, flying from his food dish to a tree. Just caught a glimpse but still fairly sure it was him; he's kind of hard to miss with his colors. I have to have faith in nature. ^_^

Thanks, guys!

Anonymous said...

What did you say to her, Kap?

Anonymous said...

Quit being a coward, Jessicka. It takes less than 140 characters to say 'Gerard Way is a misogynist asshole and I don't support him'. Your maintained silence is defence of his words alone.

Anonymous said...

Hang in there, Kap. If this idiot of a woman had nothing to be ashamed about, she wouldn't be getting so defensive. Call her out on her friendship with a man who threatens to beat women up.

Anonymous said...

Jessicka you BIG FUCKING COWARD. Keeping your defence of a man who wants to assault women is more important to you than supporting victims of DV and rape. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Anonymous said...

Hahahah, Jessicka is PISSED. Go cry with your racist friend about it, Jess. And while you're at it give Gerard another high five for threatening to put a women in the ground. Such nice healthy friendships you have for a feminist!

Anonymous said...

Let her have it by email if she wants, Kap. This idiot needs to be educated on MSI and their songs about children being raped. Then we'll see if she feels like making a special blog/tweet calling that out like she does everything else.

Somehow I doubt it!

And while you're at it, ask her why she hangs around with men who threaten to hit women. I'd sure like to know the answer to that question.

Anonymous said...

She is such a two-faced little witch. Defending her friends by calling anyone with a valid point about their disgusting music/actions someone 'with an ax to grind'. Funny how grinding her feminist ax is alright on her terms, as long as it's not against someone she's friends with.

Anonymous said...

If you don't defend Gerard, Jessicka, it's simple: Call him the fuck out on his shit. Likewise with your friend Lindsey.

Anonymous said...

I don't think it's an 'assumption' that your friends are sacks of shit, Jessicka. They sort of already proved they are.

Anonymous said...

I get the impression is is exactly like her friends: the friends that say one thing to appear respected and self righteous to cultivate their own image then appear like hypocrites by with the company they keep.

She would be one of the last people I consider a feminist.

Kap, I hope you're laying down the fact for her regarding her 'best friend' and her songs about child rape.

I doubt Jessicka will ever call her friends out on anything. She and Lindsey are very close friends. Hell, she's probably Godmother to bandit.

Hi, just wanted to leave some thoughts, see what you guys make of them. And Kapu, it's nice to read that you are alright and that your birds are coming back to you. A very scary couple of days. Hopefully more people made it through as safely as you did.

Want to say first, what GW said about hitting the girl was wrong. Extremely wrong -I completely agree.

But two things?:
One, he was quoting a well-known book. Not saying this was in any way acceptable behavior but it wasn't his own words... two:

He was very obviously drunk.

And people say and do stupid inappropriate, terrible things when they are drunk. Perhaps not every drunk, but alcoholics are a very different matter. (I know, I come from a long line of them.) If you read his tweets from that night, he was clearly out of his head drunk. Or high. Associating with MSI is unaccpetable, but other than that, I haven't seen or heard him say something like that again. He should have apologized for it straight away, but if he's an alcoholic -he may not have been sober enough to grasp his wrong-doing while it still would have looked sincere. You know? I'm not trying to start anything, and please -continue to call out Jessicka (I think that is a stupid way to spell that name. She looks like a 3 year old.), I personally cannot stand her. Shr brings it on herself.

I'm just saying, I think there is a big difference between people who repeatedly, over years and years (like the memembers of MSI have and continue to do) behave like misogynists and racists -and drunks who are just trying to show off while they are out of their heads. Thoughts, guys? I'm off now, but I will be coming back in later. -Thanks for any replies.

Anonymous said...

Kapunua don't waste your time on idiots like her. She claims she's being baited when she is doing the exact thing with emotive terminology like "axe to grind" and how she's trying to completely steer away from discussing her association with her choice friends by saying things like "hidden assumptions".

kapunua said...

I actually just sent her a lengthy email, with a link to the Tumblr thing that got me such grief, too. I wasn't rude or anything, but I don't see how she can't be aware of this.

Anonymous said...

And also the fact she wants to do so privately. Red light. If she has nothing to hide, why discuss it privately?

Anonymous said...

Kapunua I don't think that was a good idea.

Anonymous said...

Yes it was a good idea. She needs to stop hiding from the truth about the people she backs.

Anonymous said...

She's going to give you the sob story about her 'friends' Kap and try to win you over to their 'satire'. Gerard doesn't actually want to hit a woman! Oh no! He married one; how could he want to hit one?

Anonymous said...

Don't you see, she will not accept it because they are her friends and she will find a way to justify what they do. One thing I have noticed is that she is very good at deflecting and focusing the discussion about herself and her work.

kapunua said...

And I'm very good at saying, "But let's get back to the point." :D

Of course, no one can convince other people that their friends are the biggest douches ever. No one can make others admit that in public, especially when there's so much at stake. But maybe she'll at least give it some thought. Who knows, maybe she'll even bring up the subject to those dimwits.

Maybe, over time, it will start to sink in. Everrrrr sooooooo sloooooowwwwwwllyyyyyyyyy.

Anonymous said...

Don't think so Kapunua because she is the one who will probably think you are the dimwit trying to frame her for her friendships.

Anonymous said...

I knew your birds would return Kapunua, just had that gut feeling.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Who the hell is Gothete? What an idiot.

And I'm very good at saying, "But let's get back to the point." :D

HAHAHAHAHHAHA, priceless.
Of course, just like the idiots she's friends with she will think that she's right since they are under the illusion that they bring attention to serious social issues with their alleged satire and get people talking. I bet that's what they think.

One, he was quoting a well-known book.

Care to tell us what that really well-known book's name is? Because if it's really that well-known I wonder why nobody here or anywhere else brought it to our attention.

And people say and do stupid inappropriate, terrible things when they are drunk. Perhaps not every drunk, but alcoholics are a very different matter.

In Germany we say "Kinder und Betrunkene sagen immer die Wahrheit" (kids and drunks always tell the truth), meaning that since they're drunk they don't have any filter whatsoever and say what they actually think. And Gerard knows that he's an alcoholic. I still can't believe that he had the audacity in that Spin interview to say that being sober isn't for him anymore and that he has the occasional drink now. As if it were other people (his fans) who forced him not to drink anymore and thus took over all the fun.
That guy must be really fucked up that he has to lie to himself so that he can drown his problems and insecurities in alcohol again just like he did in the beginning of his career.
Also, we wouldn't be as understanding to a drunk person killing someone in a car accident so why should we let a drunk get away with death threats? You also shouldn't forget that with those hash tags #dieslow and #smashedface he incited his brainless fansheep to follow suit and send me death threats as well.

He should have apologized for it straight away, but if he's an alcoholic -he may not have been sober enough to grasp his wrong-doing while it still would have looked sincere. You know?

That coward would never apologize. There are people who are too weak to do that. Apologizing means that you admit to have done something wrong and they can't do that. If they would start admitting to themselves that they're not always right and do make mistakes it would destroy their whole self-image they so desperately created for themselves to not think of themselves as a total loser. And apologizing means losing for them.

Gerard is so damn insecure. You can read him like a book when you watch interviews with him. The moment when he starts fumbling around with his hair or scratching his face and touching his temple you can see that he starts feeling insecure or trapped and doesn't know what to do or say.

I bet it must piss him off big time that after all these years he's still that insecure guy from the past who needed to drink a lot of alcohol to feel good about himself and to have the courage to go out on that stage or talk to people.

And if he really felt uncomfortable in any way about those tweets he would have deleted them as he always does.

I'm sorry, but to me you sound like all the other girls and women who say 'Please, don't be mad at the hot boy/man I'm infatuated with. But you can hate the girl/woman because I don't have any feelings whatsoever for her.'

Anonymous said...

Siobhan she quoted a proverb that goes along a similar line of "a mirror reflects a man's face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses." As for quoter maybe she was referring to the creator of Faust Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe though I don't think the quote originally emanated from him.

kapunua said...

Well, that email discussion didn't really work out. She's as polite as can be, and she did hear my out. But in the end it came down to, "I'm not deflecting, I'm just choosing my battles. Let's agree to disagree."

I just said, "Sure, I'm just not sure what we're disagreeing about. Those lyrics exist and those actions happened. The language is oppressive. 'Panty-Shot' is a huge contribution to rape culture. People are telling women to 'get on their knees', 'moan for me' and calling women whores, bitches, c***s, and are saying that they're feminists. What, really, is there to argue?"

So, ehh. What can you do.
