Also, I dislike the band now because of their behaviour and I've been a fan for at least 6 years and spent my hard earned cash on their gigs because I believed in them and their values. Well, not really. Jake's ex-girlfriend used to be all over the MCR LJ communities telling people what her boyfriend did and posting photos. Anyone who'd seen her comments and was anywhere near the front of an MCR show would know Jake and what he does for the the band. So no cookie on the 'creeper' change there.
Lauren was namedropped in a major music magazine interview/article about MCR and it was listed with both her companies name and what her job was. Plus all the members of the band and the wives tweet her regularly. So again, not really 'creepy' to have that information if you're a fan of the band, which a lot of us used to be until they started threatening violence against women.

If she was willing to play it and accept the song as part of the band's repertoire she bears just as much responsibility for spreading it, so it makes no difference who wrote the song. Same goes for the rest of her band.

They did Planetary GO which was a shit low budget tour vid because they've run out of money for promo. Apparently the next single is Bulletproof Heart, but in an interiew linked here a few weeks ago Gerard admitted they might not go back to the storyline of the Killjoys because they don't have the funds lined up to put into making the video. He tried to play the whole thing down.
Sounds to me like Warner aren't ready to throw good money after bad when it comes to weak videos that don't get any airplay and even the band seem ashamed of now.
What I don't understand is, how can you be so fickle? I mean, it's not like the band just went up to Warner and said Hey, after that whole 'raw garage punk band' thing wasn't successful we came up with that Killjoy concept. Whatta ya think? and after they already lost a lot of money with producing that album that nobody got to listen to and will never be released, they simply said Yeah, let's do it. Smart bands usually try to keep a good deal of their hard core fans and try to attract new ones. The hard core fans usually stick by them even through their experimental phases. MCR seem to have lost a great proportion of their older more loyal fans due to their attachment with MSI.
I have two very good friends who are MCR fans. That's how I met them - through going to shows. They still adore the band. They're not the sort of people who are offended by anything they do (but they don't pass judgement on people like me who are), and they still support them just as they did years ago. Even they have said they hate the new 'look' and the videos. They think it's stupid and counterproductive to run around in the desert with plastic guns and live out Star Wars fantasies.
Gerard prides himself on being a rebel and always doing the opposite of what people want or expect him to do. I'm afraid this has translated to him being a misogynist and making a flop of an album. MSI never said they were playing any song to draw attention to serious issues. Maybe Lindsey said that at one point when she was on her role model kick (probably Gerard's suggestion), but Jimmy has always maintained that the band has no message.
MCR's fans (the asskissing ones, who are desperate to find rhyme and reason to everything Gerard does, including his association with MSI) are the ones who came up with the idea that songs like Panty Shot have a deeper meaning. There is so much wrong with this quote I don't know where to start, so I'll list points:
1) Racism and violently sexist and misogynist messages are not 'innovate and original' however you try and spin it. No, it's the Honda Civic Tour with Blink-182. They're 'co-headlining' (pfft, you know Blink will close the shows) a big stadium tour this summer.
I'd go see Blink -- they always put on good show. But no way I'm giving MCR any of my money.
It should be interesting though. Blink fans are mostly guys. MCR fans are, well, you know, MCR fans. I imagine lots of little hearts will be broken and black mascara tears will run when the Blink fans start moshing and pushing in the pit as Blink fans are wont to do.

I was literally pulled of the barrier by security at a TBS show where Angels and Airwaves (Tom Delonge's other band) opened, because I was being crushed, and the girl I was with got knocked down. It was the first time I ever had to be pulled out by security, and I've been to tons of shows.
Blink fans are brutal in the pit. I hope parents don't get the 12-13 year old MCR fans GA tickets and drop them off at the gates. Somebody could get seriously hurt.

I saw Blink a couple of years ago. Fall Out Boy opened for them. The audience was much more gracious to FOB than I expected, but FOB puts on a good live show, and their music is really catchy. Patrick Stump is a great vocalist and as much as I despise Pete Wentz, he is a good showman.
Somehow I don't see MCR meshing with Blink though.

I'm so embarrassed I used to be a fan of this band, but I'm glad to say I moved on to better bands.
To be honest MCR were the first rock band I got into. (I was a late rock n roll bloomer). I thought they were really amazing at first, then I started discovering other bands, then MCR didn't seem so great.
The fact they're sexist dumbasses doesn't help matters.
MCR aren't the only ones who attack fans or people who criticize them on Twitter. I've seen comments in here about how great KOL are, but Jared (the bassist) is a real jerk to anyone who criticizes him or even pokes fun at his massive ego. I told him exactly what I thought of him after he told a fan that god hates her and her family and he told me he hoped I would die in a car crash. He makes Gerard & co. look like saints. Not that it gets Gerard and his friends off the hook for the shit they say.
I'm just pointing out that when you focus so much on a particular band or person in a negative, you're going to find a million flaws about them, while at the same time, you completely ignore all the crap other people do.

I follow Jared's twitter (Nathan's too), and while Jared does get rowdy sometimes, he's usually kidding. He has a weird sense of humor and he's very sarcastic, in interviews. I've seen him give interviews where it's obvious he's playing the the interviewer and just making up stuff as he goes along.
I'm not making excuses for him. I think he does go overboard. KOL have always been drunk, rowdy womanizers, and they are often sexist. If people want to stop listening to them because of that, then I would understand.
But KOL never pretended to be anything other than who they are. Plus, they still make great music, unlike MCR.
When I saw Blink with FOB, there were a lot of Blink fans who didn't go into the amphitheatre until Blink took the stage because they didn't want to hear FOB. I think that will probably happen this time around with MCR too.
