I believe this blog is more about the people here who come to chat than it is about some stupid sexist band. But, I like the fact that there is a place for everyone to vent about these particular sexists bands, as well as other issues that might be on your mind. I think this blog has grown a lot.
In the past few months we've seen another celebrity lose it and start screaming racist and sexist things (Mel Gibson) and there was some discussion about that too. I personally don't see too much of a difference between Mel Gibson screaming the N word and talking about rape and "bitches" MSI screaming the N word and talking about rape and "bitches". Hate speech is hate speech. Except Mel Gibson seriously wants to hurt people and MSI just seem to think it's funny. It still creates an atmosphere that welcomes hate and violence towards women, by laughing about it and thinking it's so funny.
One thing I want to say here is that I believe the regulars here are too smart to honestly believe that Gerard Way's hair color or other random things has anything to do with pregnancy. I see a lot of trolls coming in pretending to be "someone from VVs" and putting forward these ridiculous theories. I think they're trying to make people here look like they are illogical.
And I know that many people here have spoken out against calling them "fat" or "ugly". So many of you have posted over and over again how you don't care about that. You call people out on their behavior, and things they can help, things they do on purpose..... not how they look. That's what I like about this place.
But from what I can see a lot of the trolls keep bringing those things up, trying to reduce this blog to their level. I said it before and I'm saying it again. The regulars here are not like that and probably know what you're up to.
If you don't like it here, that's fine, you can stay at all your other blogs. Or you can enter into an intelligent conversation. But if all you have to offer is "LOL hair color = pregnancy" or "LOL that woman is FAT" then just know, officially, this blog doesn't welcome that and neither do the regulars.

It was all of it combined.
And there might have been people who were jealous but there were also a lot of people who shoved certain things in other people's faces and enjoyed being envied. I don't think that this behavior was better, wasn't it?

not about lj, fic or blog talk but I just adore Jepha. He's just a little ray of sunshine.

Because, fool, I put the spoilers under a cut so that you can't see them unless you click on the link. Think a little, hmm?.
a blog full of psycho-harridans "advice?"
Unfortunately I was reading Pattern Recognition in Kindle and it took me a while to find out which section s/he meant. ;D (And I'm sure some of you remember the crap-storm that my mention of "Kindle" inspired. Yes, Kindles were evil etc.)
Well, folks there went nuts trying to figure out WTF Mayo was talking about, because surely s/he could not have been addressing me. Not after they had spent so much energy telling him/her to hate me.
Then once they googled it and found out it was the same book I'd recommended, they got real quite about it.
Emergent social behavior turned it into some kind of creation engine, with poetry, art and such - until the unofficial banning of those things.
Then, obviously, it withered on the vine.
I still wonder what kept the blog running for so long. Guilt, maybe.
Comments like that turned Mayo's into a get over yourself hate fest.
"shoved certain things in other people's faces and enjoyed being envied."
Enjoyed what they perceived and wanted to be envy. There was a lot of shoving that's for sure.
and there still is!
Attention. You can who gets it IRL and who doesn't.
"
You are exactly sounding like one of those trolls who made Mayo what it is now and since you don't seem to be someone of the 'Lovelies' since according to you it was all their fault, should I assume now that you are one of the 'Porchies'?
See, and so it starts."
That's because YOU are starting it. I was nothing but polite to you when I disagreed. You are the one throwing around accusations and starting some drama. THAT is what doesn't belong here.
I didn't see any problem before.
I realize that some "Lovelies" still lurk here judging by the last few comments too. It is not my place to tell you to leave or ask you to stop especially when VV says everyone is welcome.
You obviously still have a point to prove.
My point is that no one here is battling for VV's attention so I think it's OK for people to post to just talk.
This is never a problem until people start bitching about it and turning it into drama on purpose.
"It was all of it combined.
And there might have been people who were jealous but there were also a lot of people who shoved certain things in other people's faces and enjoyed being envied. I don't think that this behavior was better, wasn't it?"
It is this kind of drama and hate that VV's is NOT about but you seem intent on making this into another version of Mayo's.
No one was arguing until you started this Siobhan, why do you do that?
Why do I need to say it again? This blog has been open for years. The only thing I don't like is people being singled out and picked on...... which I'm starting to see.
Movies and other bands, posts about feminism, links to stuff, I think that is all fine. It' snot inflammatory. It's harmless.
I don't like harassment and play-yard mentality.
I can't and won't ban it but you know where I stand.
If you want to talk about MCR and how they continue to let you down, DO THAT, if you want to talk about something else, DO THAT TOO.
Just stop singling people out, calling names, making accusations. I can't stop you. But you know that's not what I feel this place should be.
Watch out Siobhan. VV might ban you like she banned MJ.
I don't like harassment and play-yard mentality.
Anybody remember some of horrible names MJ was called for stating her opinion on a subject. How she was approvingly subjected to that play-yard mentality.
Where you when one of your posters was being singled out and harrassed then VV?
"
It is this kind of drama and hate that VV's is NOT about but you seem intent on making this into another version of Mayo's."
It's not Siobhan who's doing that. It's the same ones who did it at Mayo's.
"
My point is that no one here is battling for VV's attention so I think it's OK for people to post to just talk.
"
Siobhan never battled for Mayo's attention. Neither did some other lovelies. It was never about getting the hosts attention for them. Never about being quoted or put on the sidebar. It was just about talking and voicing their opinions. hoping their opinions would be heard and respected. They were for the most part. It's the ones who didn't respect what the other lovelies had to say who werent wanted.

How do you know what the 'lovelies' intentions were? It seemed to me they were battling for Mayo's attention but I can't say for sure and neither can you.
I think people should be free to discuss anything they wish here. I personally think Mayo's is a joke (and I don't want to talk about it), but I'm not going to tell someone else they shouldn't.
VV did come in and stick up for MJ when people were calling her names. She said that it was the one thing that might make her think about installing a tracker.
Whem MJ started playing cruel games about someone having a death in the family, that's when VV said she wanted her blog to have no part of that.
Guess you conveniently forgot VV sticking up for MJ. How.... convenient.
"VV did come in and stick up for MJ when people were calling her names. She said that it was the one thing that might make her think about installing a tracker."
Yeh, she did. She didn't allow any of the hate and it stopped right after she put her foot down.
I didn't forget that.
V said, "I can't and won't ban it but you know where I stand."
And an anon said "Watch out Siobhan. VV might ban you like she banned MJ."
DERP.
This blog gets it's share of trolls and I do believe that some of the "Lovelies" come over here to start trouble. Looks like they might be succeeding again.
An easy way to deal with it is to ignore them. Eventually they'll go find somewhere else to talk amongst themselves until they get bored again. They come and go in waves.
You think VV doesn't have favorites? Think again.
Who cares? No one here has any delusions that VV is a rock star who is going to change our lives. She lets us have our opinions and talk about what we want, she gives us a place to gather. There's no pressure to leave or to stay.
VV is Katherine.
Oh brother. *rolls eyes*
All of the people here who love Inception: I think we should talk about Tom Hardy. My God, that man is hot. ;)
Hugh Jackman is way better :P
VV can't be Katherine.
Katherine wouldn't let anybody call a blog she was a part of "a blog full of psycho-harridans" or call the lovelies "mentally unstable."
VV doesn't write as good as Katherine either.
If you want to talk about Tom Hardy or Joseph Gordon-Levitt, you should head over to ONTD. They seem to be the new hot men of the moment. In fact, there are two Tom Hardy posts in a row today.
I like TH too, but there is so much eye candy in Inception, you don't know where to look. Tom, JGL, Leo, Cillian Murphy...
The mind boggles.
I looked at Leo. Those eyes.
What's that ONTD link?
Tom Hardy link one, and Tom Hardy link two.
Enjoy. :D
I prefer Joseph Gordon Levitt myself, although I do get the Tom Hardy thing. He has the most gorgeous lips. They're quite distracting!
I really liked JGL and Tom Hardy in Inception. I'm not a huge fan of Leo but he has seemed to redeem himself after Titanic. I liked him in The Departed.
I liked JGL because he kept this naughty little smirk on his lips for the duration of the movie, even when he was supposed to be asleep.
Tom Hardy seems like a really good dude, when you read about him.
Woha, that Joseph looks like Heath Ledger a lot...
Tom Hardy seems like a really good dude, when you read about him.
Yeah, I agree. I admire him for being so open about his past drug addiction. He seems to have beaten it though. I just hope he stays clean.
JGL was adorable in Inception. He has this twinkle in his eyes, like he's got a secret or something. He's done some really great work in other (although more obscure) films. I think it's cool that he managed to come out of that whole "child star" thing and still have a career. He and Leo have that in common.
I liked that little 'flirty' thing that JGL and TH had going in Inception. Although JGL was flirting with Ellen Page's character too. :)
Yeah, TH is also pretty open about his past with sexual experiences and is very cool with fluid sexuality. I think it's decent of him to be so forward-thinking. :)
JGL was adorable in Inception. He has this twinkle in his eyes, like he's got a secret or something.
YES, that's it exactly!
I thought they were a little flirty too, but sometimes I see fictional characters through Slashvision glasses. ;D
Inception was fun on a few levels, hehee.
sometimes I see fictional characters through Slashvision glasses. ;D
Me too. :D
Why does anybody still talk to her?
Talk to who?
for anyone whos tired of being called a troll every time they bitch about lindsey.
http://got-roid-rage.blogspot.com/2010/08/please-dont.html
that said. i would never want to see those two on stage that far past their prime.
You KNOW who.
VOLDEMORT?
VOLDEMORT?
Lol! I love it. She who must not be named!
I'd like the Roid to be clever for a second just to understand how stupid she is.
Avada Kedavra? :)
LOL Silvia. How gratifying.
http://www.screwyourecession.ca/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/medium_voldemort-looking-up-9fzhu4mo.jpg
I see the resemblance.
Is the anon trying to tell us that Mayo is Voldemort?
I thought they were a little flirty too, but sometimes I see fictional characters through Slashvision glasses. ;D
This! I guess that's what comes of a misspent youth, reading slashfic. If I was younger I would probably be shipping those two right now. :P
@silvia
word.
Does anybody remember JGL from Angels in the Outfield? He was the cutest kid.
They follow you everywhere K. :(
And I shall lead them on a merry chase.

Ooooh, I would ask you to post a link, but I understand if you don't want to post it here.
I might have to get into some of the Inception communities. They seem to be sprouting up everywhere. :)
VV is Katherine.

Nope, VV is VV.
GW says the band is touring in the fall.
Wonder if he's going to keep his surfer boy locks for the tour.
GW says the band is touring in the fall.
Three years ago I would have been so excited. Now I could not care less.
The band doesn't seem very excited about it themselves.
The band doesn't seem very excited about it themselves.
Would you blame them? I wouldn't be so excited doing the I'm an LA rawkstah with an awesome wife tour.
Hope he gets to enjoy his love-nest(summerhome) he for bought Lindsey before he heads off on his demanding tour.
He & Lindsey's baby-making home.
Can you believe this ?
http://www.thesoundstrike.net/content/about
um...
the album's coming out in the fall. no word on touring...
besides...
i highly doubt he intends to miss his ickle wifey's art show...
The tour came out of the horse's mouth, but that horse usually lies so 6:42 has a point.
i highly doubt he intends to miss his ickle wifey's art show...
True. He has to be with his fake wife and her fake friends.
um...

The most important social event on his calendar! Then it's time for some rest and relaxation together at their summer home.
Does anyone have a link to this?
Please don't turn this place into a rumor mill just cause Mayos is dead.
True. He has to be with his fake wife and her fake friends.
They need as many MCR fans coming to see her "art" as they can get...
What's it got to do with Mayo's???
Some people can't accept he is head over heels for Lindsey and likes to buy her things.
Lol! Yes, we're all so in love with Gerard, don't you know. He looks so hot with his under-processed hair and that stylish Hawaiian shirt. Oh and I know that I personally can't get enough of a man who reeks of body odor and stale cigarette smoke. I'm just soooooo jealous of Lindsey and her teeny little house in smog-infested LA.
*rolls eyes*
The "summer home" anon sounds like the one who used to come around and talk about how Gerard said he wanted six kids. It's also probably the same troll who went on about Gerard's hair color being some sort of announcement about expecting another baby.
Like any of us care how many kids or homes Gerard has.
Get it through your thick head, Troll, that we don't want Gerard. We don't even like him.
Sheesh.
4:53, I've asked her to put it on her public art site. If she does, I'll link it to ya. :)
I hear Gerard bought Lindsey their very own island! And a private jet to take them there!
I heard they bought a villa in France. It's right next door to Johnny Depp. ;)
I also heard that Lindsey is expecting quintuplets! So now Gerard is going to get his six kids!
Oh, I am sooooo jellus.
Six kids, what? Why on earth would anyone be jealous of a woman who had to give birth to six kids?
I hear Gerard bought Lindsey their very own island! And a private jet to take them there!
If he had that kinda money I think he would!
I also heard that Lindsey is expecting quintuplets! So now Gerard is going to get his six kids!
Aww, that's so sweet. Guess good things do happen to those that wait...
Get it through your thick head, Troll, that we don't want Gerard. We don't even like him.
Ha! that's what they all say!!
I also heard that Lindsey is expecting quintuplets! So now Gerard is going to get his six kids!
I also hear they've already picked out names: Shep, Rover, Fifi, Spot and Lassie.
Apart from Gerard's obvious love for Lindsey did anyone else notice they are now lending their support to causes like soundstrike. Are they trying to get back to their we're so feminist, anti-homophobe record selling hypocrisy they started in the first place?
I think maybe the Sound Strike thing is the record label's idea to get their name out there. God knows, most of the world has forgotten about them.
I also hear they've already picked out names: Shep, Rover, Fifi, Spot and Lassie.
Fifi, really? I heard it was Fido.
If Lindsey was smart, she'd ask Gerard to buy her JGL. Then I really would be jealous. ;)
Fifi, really? I heard it was Fido.
They make their own rules, remember. Only Gerard seems to follow all of Lyndsey's rules.
I bet GW will get his buddies MSI on that petition too. All the MCR fans will fall for it.
God knows, most of the world has forgotten about them.
And a good thing too! There's enough two-faced morons only interested in making moolahs in this world already.

I LOVE HIM.
Gerard gives a well-thought out speech, saying they're not rich and they don't waste their money. RED FLAG: Have you ever heard of a musician NOT being rich? Really. They make how many thousands and thousands (sometimes millions) of dollars. Also, Gerard bought Lindsey a house for a holiday without even talking to her about it .
http://comments.deviantart.com/5/33925221/1593924328?offset=100#comments
Other comments have been posted about his summer home on other sites (some of those private), so it's not a rumor.
He can do what he likes with his money, though it seems he is reckless and wants to waste all of it on Lindsey.
FAT BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VV is a FATTTTTTT bitch... The fact that she mentions it in her post makes it so apparent... Blue coller - fat-"semi" intellectual fucking cunt.
Sorry honey - Gerad wasn't looking for a WHALE!!!!
THE fact you are in LA makes you even more pathetic!
Are you a high school lunch lady????
Q. When was the last time VV saw her vagina?
A. When she sneezed and her fat rolls blew up.
Jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of what? Gerard buying Lindsey a summer house?
?Why do I need to say it again? This blog has been open for years. The only thing I don't like is people being singled out and picked on...... which I'm starting to see."
LIAR!
Except if you are in MCR or MSI or their friends. You daft cunt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(finding out .... all your details..............)
Very, very mature 10:54.
Except if you are in MCR or MSI or their friends.
Um no, we talk about them here and leave them alone there...
Someone (like 10:54) is jealous that Gerard bought Lindsey a summer home.
(finding out .... all your details..............)
Goodluck!
if gw really bought the roid a summerhome wed know where...
What's the big deal with Gerard buying a summer home for Lindsey? I don't get it. He can buy as many homes as he likes for her.

She's a little less pathetic than you babycakes.

Lol! Do you believe everything you read?
I especially love the part about musicians always being rich. You need to read this post, which talks about how little musicians actually make these days. When you consider all of the rumors that The Black Parade Tour didn't even break even and that MCR has to divide everything they make by 5 band members, I bet every single one of them is in debt up to their eyeballs.
I seriously doubt that Gerard can afford a summer house. He's probably struggling to pay the mortgage on the ridiculously overpriced house he bought in LA.
Lol! Do you believe everything you read?
I recall when someone mentioned on her LJ she spotted GW and Lindsey kissing for the first time at PR, no one believed her, and a few weeks later they were married. I also recall some fangirls arguing about Gerard hiring a monkey for Lindsey's birthday. Then the blog with the pictures surfaced on BN. In all probability the *summer home* anon may be right.
yeah. except "cheap" houses cost an easy $250,000 and gerard just bought two cars.
not to mention whatever the roid has to toss in to help support her and her best buds studio.
so. unless gerard is pulling in over two million a year personally the best he could afford would be a $4000/mo condo or something.
but hey! maybe it's a timeshare!
or hes just shite with money...
He probably doesn't mind being in debt for his zoid. He probably knows he'll rake in the money after his TUA movie.
I think the first time he locked eyes with Lindsey all those years ago when they opened for MSI as a baby band he thought to himself: one day babe I'm gonna be a rich rockstar and buy you a summer home And he did!
Why would he need two cars? One must be for Lindsey then.
Lol, designer bags, monkeys, an art studio, a house, a summer home and a car for Lindsey.
For me he can live with his Zoid and have pigs and hens in the house next to the Paris Hilton's one. Urgh don't forget the Hello Kitty Party.
Just as well he doesn't have a mistress. That would be very expensive.
LOL the hello kitty freebie party!
Just as well he doesn't have a mistress. That would be very expensive.
LOL! more like a boyfriend
You know Lyn-z loves Divine of JWaters, and that movie is just horrible. This Divine is a drag queen who has sex with his son, and his son is used to have sex with people and hens... yea not joking. It's something that disgusted me. I feel really sorry for Bandit. I would not want a mother who uses her daughter to promote herself and her art shows. She'll probably paint a lot of artworks with Bandit or Gerard as subjects, so all the fangirls will be like "aaaaaawwwww sweeeeet she's so gooood" after her fab art show.

I think he would be "supportive" of everything she does. He's pretty much under her thumb at the moment.

Shut the fuck up, that "movie" is SHIT. That's my opinion and if you don't agree you DON'T EVEN NEED TO CALL ME CUNT. Idiot.

Wow. You people crack me up. You have no idea how the entertainment industry works at all, do you?
LMFAO.
This new round of morons posting here are either totally trolling or they're about 12.
First degree stupidity.

I can't stand that movie and if your way to show me that I'm wrong is to call me cunt and stupid hell yea you're the stupid one here.
Silvia you're the idiot. That's a quote from the movie you mentioned.
You brought up that movie.
Can't we post movie quotes?
How could I know the quotes of that movie if it is so shitty that I didnt finish to watch it? :) I know quotes of movies I like. STFU. Yea talk about movies.
Recently I watched Perfume and liked it a lot.
The loin has spoken
This is a story of boy meets girl. The boy, Tom Hansen of Margate, New Jersey, grew up believing that he'd never truly be happy until the day he met the one. This belief stemmed from early exposure to sad British pop music and a total mis-reading of the movie 'The Graduate'.
Wow. You people crack me up. You have no idea how the entertainment industry works at all, do you?

He probably knows he'll rake in the money after his TUA movie.
I know enough to know that Gerard has already sold his rights to the studio who may or may not make the TUA movie. Unless it was part of his contract to get percentage points of the film's profits, he won't see another dime. If he did opt for percentage points, he didn't get nearly as much upfront for selling the rights.
I also know that comic book films have kind of reached a saturation point with audiences. By the time TUA comes out (if it ever does) it will probably go quietly unnoticed by the majority of the film-going public so if Gerard did opt for points, he probably won't get much from that deal.
I'd wager that Gerard already spent his TUA movie rights money on the house that he and Lindsey currently reside in.
I never wanted to use macramé to kill!

Not spam. Movie quotes.

That's assuming anyone will buy the DVD. By the time the thing comes out (if it ever does, which I kinda doubt -- look how long it took to get Watchmen made and Preacher's been in the works for ten or more years) nobody's going to go see it, let alone buy the DVD.
Monkey? MONKEY! I'm a fucking gorilla, you clown!

That's not necessarily true. How many comics or books are made into movies within 5 years of the original release. Not many. The time between the release of the written and graphic work and the movie means nothing.
The success of any movie depends upon the marketing of the movie and merchandise.
The success of any movie depends upon the marketing of the movie and merchandise.
I don't agree. Word of mouth and public interest has a lot to do with it.
Watchmen was marketed to hell and back, and although it did relatively well at the box office, it was nowhere near the success the filmmakers thought it would be, especially given its huge production budget and high dollar marketing campaign. With video sales I imagine it turned a profit for the studio, but anyone with just a point or two on it probably made very little if any money.
Kick Ass and Percy Jackson were also very heavily marketed but they did not live up to their potential. Same goes for Prince of Persia, which was considered a box office disaster, despite being marketed very heavily.
What with the new Spiderman reboot and The Avengers film coming out, I don't think lesser comic films are going to do all that well with a general public who really doesn't even know that TUA exists.
I saw tons of Watchmen merchandise in the bargain bin at my local Borders. I bet they totally lost money on that shit.
The success of any movie depends upon the marketing of the movie and merchandise.
I don't agree. Word of mouth and public interest has a lot to do with it.
Film reviews figure into it too. If TUA gets a 20 on Rotten Tomatoes, it will probably tank. If it even gets made. I don't think it will be made.
Does anybody remember The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen?
The trailers made it look like it would be amazing. LOL.
When TUA first came out, people had the impression it was for kids. The first series even won some award for children's books.
Then Gerard came along with that wonky ass Dallas and it was so violent and not really kid-friendly at all.
I'm thinking Universal was planning to make it into a family friendly film. They even tapped Race to Witch Mountain screenwriter Mark Bomback to write the screenplay. Then Gerard said he didn't want it to be a kid's movie and we really haven't heard anything about it since.
Both Warner and Marvel have said they aren't making any R-rated comic book films and I think Universal feels the same way. I suspect the reason we haven't been hearing anything about the UA movie is because Gerard is having creative differences with the studio about its content.
Roger Ebert on Inception:
"Here is a movie immune to spoilers: If you knew how it ended, that would tell you nothing unless you knew how it got there. And telling you how it got there would produce bafflement. The movie is all about process, about fighting our way through enveloping sheets of reality and dream, reality within dreams, dreams without reality."
I agree. It's not the ending that makes the film so great. It's the ride. :)
It took 10 years for Christoper Nolan to write that ride.
It's said that Christopher Nolan spent ten years writing his screenplay for "Inception." That must have involved prodigious concentration, like playing blindfold chess while walking a tight-wire. The film's hero tests a young architect by challenging her to create a maze, and Nolan tests us with his own dazzling maze. We have to trust him that he can lead us through, because much of the time we're lost and disoriented. Nolan must have rewritten this story time and again, finding that every change had a ripple effect down through the whole fabric.
Kick Ass was disturbing and I don't really know anyone who liked it. The concept of an 11 year old girl killing people without batting an eye was not one the general public was willing to accept.
I see the same problem with TUA. Number 5 is not going to play out well with the general public.
The way I see it they could go one of two ways with the UA film. They can make Five more child-like and less violent (or make him older like they did Claudia in Interview With a Vampire) and tick off the purist TUA fans (I don't think Gerard will allow this, btw) or they can depict him as he's written and pretty much assure that the film will flop.
I can't really see Universal doing either of those things, which is why I don't think the film will get made.
I read the first part of TUA. It seemed like a spazzy, junk story written by a spazzy, junk "writer" whose only talent was sketching. I liked it better when it was called X Men anyway.
Only the fangirls will care.
I respect your opinion Kapunua though I do remember he did receive an Eisner.
Not that an award means anything, just that he was recognized by his peers for something they thought was worthwhile.
The movie Titanic won tons of awards too, and I thought it boiled down to about ten hours of the most inane, self-indulgent babbling. Eh.
In many cases, can't really go by awards, I don't think.
I didn't care for TUA at all. I'm not a huge comic fan, but I love certain adult-oriented comics like Preacher and that was kind of what I was expecting. TUA seemed to me like it was for kids -- like ten year olds and I was still an MCR fan back then. It took me about five minutes to read each issue.
When Dallas came out, people said it was more "mature" so I read it too. Lol. To me it just seemed like the author was trying too hard to make it edgy and more violent in a weak attempt to make it more grown up.
I really don't understand why people like the damn thing.
MCR are morons for agreeing to participate in the Sound Strike in Arizona.
Do they really think that they are going to do anything to change some racist state legislator's mind by punishing the music fans in the state? Especially given the fact that most of their fans are too young to vote.
Many musicians (including the outspoken Lady Gaga) are refusing to participate in this because it's directed at the wrong people.
Fail, MCR. Fail.
"I will not cancel my show," Gaga told her Phoenix fans. "I will yell, and I will scream louder, and I will hold you, and we will hold each other, and we will peacibly protest this state. Do not be afraid, because if it wasn't for all of you immigrants, this country wouldn't have shit."
I have to agree with Gaga on this one. Protest is fine, but I don't see what good a boycott will do.
Arizona makes a lot of money from entertainment taxes on live shows so the state will lose money, but what people don't seem to understand is that this will not hurt the people making the racist laws. It will hurt the people of Arizona in areas like education and health care.
If MCR really wanted to do something to help, they would donate money or participate in a charity concert to raise awareness about SB 1070.
Oh, but it's so much easier to join in a "boycott". Then they don't have to do anything.
"he was recognized by his peers for something they thought was worthwhile."
That's the highest honor of all. Being recognized by your peers. By professionals who have worked for years in your field. There's no greater honor than knowing they respect your work enough to nominate you. Winning the award is the crowning glory.
Please forget what I posted at August 7, 2010 9:48 PM
I don't agree that it automatically says a work is good. Lots of pretty awful films have gotten awards.
Sometimes a film will be nominated for an Oscar AND a Razzie.
Talent is, of course, subjective. TUA doesn't appeal to me because it's puerile and wayyy too close to X Men.
I've read lots of truly original and fascinating, really well done and beautifully thought-out graphic novels. TUA isn't one of them, in my opinion.
It's kind of like Twilight, to me. Lots of people like it but i think it's junk. I tend to liken Gerard in general to SMeyer. A popular hack without much to offer.
I think the Eisner Award that TUA received had more to do with the artwork and the overall look of the comic than anything else, and those things have more to do with Gabriel Ba and Dave Stewart than they do Gerard.
Gerard has only one Eisner - the one he got for Best Limited Series in 08. He didn't even get nominated for Best Writer. Gabriel Ba and Dave Stewart were the ones who really cleaned up at the Eisners. I think their peers were awarding them. Gerard, not so much.
YOu people always have to tear him down don't you? Even when he acheives something great like getting the most coveted award in comics you can't just let him have it. It's the same with the soundstrike in Arizona. If MCR wasn't participating in it you'd give them shit for it but since they are, you think it's a shit cause.
What would this man and his band have to do to make you people happy?
retire
LMAO! Yep. Also, good point about what the award actually was. I didn't realize it. Yeah, the artwork isn't even his. Like I said, I only saw the first issue, the free one. I didn't like it. I thinnk it's puerile. I think he's puerile.
Oooh poor baby Gerard - some people don't like him. Good thing he has such saviors to stand up for him.
Yeah, I don't like him, don't like his work, his outlook, or anything he stands for. Pretty much figured you'd know that by now? I mean, why is this a surprise?
lol
You'd think the man killed their first born child or stole their 600K Chinese mastiff.
That's really disgusting. People who sell and pay 600K for a dog.
Why? because I don't like him or his work? How in the hell does that equal "LOL it's like he killed a kid!!11111"
Gosh, you just can't get over us not liking your rock star, huh?
Is it sort of like, I dunno, this blog killed a kid or something? 'Cause, LOL and such.
It's especially disgusting since they could go down to the animal rescue center/no kill shelter and rescue a dog or cat
Go to bed, Ciel_vert.
no offence, but nobody here actually knows gerard way personally, so you shouldn't really judge him when you don't even know him! just saying... lol

That is the most idiotic argument I've ever heard. You came from Buzznet, didn't you?
Celebrities and public figures get judged for their actions all of the time. It's the way the world works. Are you 12?
I don't know Mel Gibson either. Or Michael Richards. I could go on.
nobody here actually knows gerard way personally, so you shouldn't really judge him when you don't even know him!
I don't know Kim Jong-Il personally either. That doesn't mean I'm going to reserve judgment about him until the unlikely event that I get to meet him. Just sayin'.
The people from Buzznet are really funny.
DON'T JUDGE ME!!!!!
Jeff Portnoy kills me. I remember his "IT'S NOT ABOUT FARTYS, IT'S ABOUT FAMILYYYYYY!!!" argument reminded me so much of MCR/MSI at the time. :)
*farts, not fartys, but OMG, what a word to typo. ^_^;;
And his "YOU CAN'T DO WHAT I DO!!" reminded me of Lindsey's argument about why talent isn't important.
And his "YOU CAN'T DO WHAT I DO!!" reminded me of Lindsey's argument about why talent isn't important.
Yeah, me too. Especially the bit where she said she wasn't that great of a bass player, but she dared the people criticizing her to play bass while doing a backbend.
Jeff Portnoy's talent was to fart at will. Lindsey's is to hold a bass while doing a backbend and showing her panties. That seems about equal to me.
Exactly.
I feel like I have to find the exact quote now. It was so similar it was eerie. :)
Tropic Thunder was such an awesome satire.
elpoep ereh era das skaerf teehee! you will never know! XD
