Women's rights! Real feminism...

Women's Rights at Change.org.

I thought you all might like this web page. I guess this isn't much of an MCR related post (they bore me to tears) but maybe it is, seeing as MCR have done a 180 (to quote a person who recently posted here) especially on feminism. (Also obviously on racism, homophobia etc...)

Next time you're getting mad at Lyn-Z because of her talking about how it's OK for chicks not to be really talented, how her flashing her panties is an inspiration to female musicians, or you're getting mad because of how Gerard treated his female fans, you can visit this page and see that there are people out there still fighting this kind of behavior!

Sorry, but it's not. I'm an art student and I happen to appreciate their work

I don't agree with you and you are not the only graduate here.

Anonymous said...

Denying their abilities just because you dislike them as people is very childish and smacks of jealousy.

Think what you like. Unlike you I will not try to change what you think.

Anonymous said...

"Denying their abilities just because you dislike them as people is very childish and smacks of jealousy."

It is now very clearly that this place is about mean spiritedness, one sidedness, and jealousy.

Anonymous said...

I like what they create.

What they create doesn't impress me, even though I can see how she learned her style.

Anonymous said...

"I don't agree with you and you are not the only graduate here."

Fine. Agree to disagree. But why is there a need for this blog and all the pot shots? So unnecessary.

Anonymous said...

I never said I was the only graduate here, merely trying to state my background so I don't get accused of being a fangirl who only likes the art because it is by Lyn-Z or Gerard.

You don't have to like their work- that's not what I'm saying. Art is supposed to be subjective anyway. But when you deny their creations as art and refuse to call them artists you are just making yourself seem very immature.

I don't like Jackson Pollock's work. Does that mean he isn't an artist? No, of course it doesn't.

Anonymous said...

It is now very clearly that this place is about mean spiritedness, one sidedness, and jealousy.

You are so myopic.

Anonymous said...

Gerard and Lyn-Z are both art school graduates. That's about as close as you can get to having something that officially says you're an artist.

Anonymous said...

But why is there a need for this blog and all the pot shots? So unnecessary.

That's your opinion.

Anonymous said...

Gerard and Lyn-Z are both art school graduates. That's about as close as you can get to having something that officially says you're an artist.

Oh really? Why the pedantry?

Anonymous said...

Oh really? Why the pedantry?

Because we've already established you fail to grasp the subjective.

Anonymous said...

But when you deny their creations as art and refuse to call them artists you are just making yourself seem very immature.

I think you are very immature to have such a rigid views in what constitutes an artist.

Anonymous said...

Because we've already established you fail to grasp the subjective.

No, that's your problem.

Anonymous said...

I'm curious when VV will grace us with her bloated abdomen and weigh in here?

Anonymous said...

I think you are very immature to have such a rigid views in what constitutes an artist.

I don't have rigid views, quite the contrary- you are the one who seems to go around deciding who is and isn't an artist. In my opinion, anyone who creates a piece of art has a right to be called an artist. Whether or not that work has any merits, is debatable.

Anonymous said...

No, that's your problem.

Elaborate please. How exactly do I fail to grasp the subjective?

Anonymous said...

"In my opinion, anyone who creates a piece of art has a right to be called an artist. Whether or not that work has any merits, is debatable."

I agree 100%.

Anonymous said...

So I cannot have an opinion of my own? I don't share your opinion, you are fully entitled to consider them artists, I'm not here to change your mind. All you seem to do is insist they are, that everyone here should consider them to be, as you are an 'art student'. It's almost like you derive some sort of pleasure out of it.

Anonymous said...

Elaborate please. How exactly do I fail to grasp the subjective?

Oh the subjective...like the varying opinions here.

Anonymous said...

I also happen to love Jackson Pollock and his fractals.

Anonymous said...

You are a bunch of nasty envious people. That's what it all boils down to. The fact that you are all so bored shitless with your lives, sat in boring jobs in boring offices, that you go onto a blog, day after day, and bitch about two people who are working in an industry that they both want to.

If you persist in bitching and talking about people then 95% percent of the time, it's jealousy on some level. Not jealous of their relationship, but jealous that they're off doing something far more interesting than talking badly about people they don't know, to people they don't know, in the middle of cyber-space.

Anonymous said...

Whether or not that work has any merits, is debatable."

TA DA

And that's exactly what they debate here.

Anonymous said...

The fact that I am an art student is irrelevant. I brought it up once to explain my view, and since then you have been the one tossing it around. I never once used it in a context that suggested I know better than you because of that fact- how do I know your background? Quite simply, I don't. I thought the stuff about inferiority complex was a little harsh, but wow.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion of what makes an artist, please, share it. As yet I've not heard it, I've only heard you declaring that it is not Lyn-Z or Gerard. If not someone that creates art, then what?

Anonymous said...

So when you cannot get anyone to except your point of view you get vicious. Your generalizations are laughable.

You forgot to mention that they do this all anonymously because they are cowards, especially VV.

Anonymous said...

Oh the subjective...like the varying opinions here.

I respect your opinions, you are fully entitled to them. Yet so far I've heard nothing convincing that wasn't backed up by spite. Very little opinion, but a whole lot of bitching.

Also, the debate wasn't about the merits of their art, it was about their right to be called artists in the first place.

Anonymous said...

Of course you are entitled to your opinion of what makes an artist, please, share it. As yet I've not heard it, I've only heard you declaring that it is not Lyn-Z or Gerard.

No, but you are using it in such a way so as to demean what I say, or make it look like I was the one using the word to rub people up the wrong way. It's not the word but the context.

Oh and how cute that you argued with yourself in order to spam this place up last night. How long you going to keep that up?

At this point the best think people can do is to ignore this troll.

Just know this.

We are here. We are going to stay here. There are quite a few of us and we aren't going anywhere.

Oh and btw, I was the person who made the NSFL comment. It was not so much to criticize Amanda Palmer's appearance as to point out the inappropriateness of her posting that picture of herself on her blog. Not everybody likes to see pictures of people naked.

And, my dear, that is the last time I will speak to you.

Yes, it just so happenes I am on a break from art school. But sorry, I wasn't the anon who was here talking with you all night. I'm British. My first post was at 1:46, and since then I've kinda been off an on inbetween doing other things online.

Also, I never once posted a comment and answered myself.

But you know what, hey, enjoy your day. :)

It was not so much to criticize Amanda Palmer's appearance as to point out the inappropriateness of her posting that picture of herself on her blog. Not everybody likes to see pictures of people naked.

It was a picture of HERSELF on HER blog. The woman is notorious for her nudity anyway, it was hardly as shocking as I'm sure she hoped it to be.

Not everyone likes to hear people whining about Gerard Way and his wife. As you keep telling people here, don't like it, don't visit.

Anonymous said...

Lyn-Z are both art school graduates

No, Lindsey did not graduate from art school. She has said in other interviews that she left after a year. Jimmy also makes a point of bragging about how they're all art school dropouts.

Of course, seeing as how Gerard is always changing his story around, maybe Lindsey has decided to change hers as well. Maybe she thinks she'll get more interest in her art if she says she actually graduated.

Who knows with this bunch?

Anonymous said...

It was a picture of HERSELF on HER blog

No, actually what was linked here was a post on ONTD. And the post came with an NSFL warning because whenever you link something like that, you're supposed to warn people about nudity just in case they are at work, school or if they might have small children around.

It's common internet protocol.

Anonymous said...

She has never been referred to as an alumni of Pratt, so I don't think she has. As for working as an artist prior to joining MSI, that also sounds a bit iffy.

Anonymous said...

Thankyou for the information 4:59, I concede I was wrong on that point.
It makes no matter to me, as I stated before my views on what I believe constitutes an artist. I was merely hoping for a cold hard fact that those who didn't appreciate the subjective nature of an artist couldn't dispute.

Anonymous said...

Personally I love the Lynz ass kissers who have decided to join the blog. It adds more spice.

They're hilarious, aren't they? I love how they can't really respond when someone comes back at them with a well thought out argument. That's when they resort to one liners, like "Grandma, is that you?"

I'm not a Lyn-Z asskisser, I don't know enough about her as a person to judge her either way and I suspect you don't either.

How is Verita a coward? She has this blog and has her opinion about a band. You don't have to agree with her and i don't see you changing anyone's opinions about the way we feel over here. So what if people sign in as an anon. It's not like names like MCR Asskisser are real names anyway. If we think Gerard is douche,we are allowed to feel that way. I do have more than one degree and sorry, I don't play mind games.

Anonymous said...

I studied Art History a long, long time ago. No, I'm not your grandma, but I am probably old enough to be your mother. At the time, we learned how to appreciate the aesthetics of art, how to recognize technique, composition, etc. We also learned that art has at its heart, the goal of being able to touch someone -- to make them feel something they didn't feel before seeing it. Back then, shock value didn't so much enter into it.

I am not terribly familiar with Lindsey's art, other than the Banana Man and a couple of other things that have been posted online and I wasn't terribly impressed. I do think she has a degree of talent, but her artwork has little appeal for me. It didn't touch me in any way.

That really has nothing to do with who she is. I simply don't like her style and that is my prerogative.

I won't say she's not an artist. What I will say is that people have the right to dislike her art and to criticize it without being told to "suck it."

Anonymous said...

I believe that would be NSFW though, wouldn't it?

Not if you're not at work.

Anonymous said...

Silly, don't you understand, no one here has to justify themselves or their opinion to you.

I'm not saying you HAVE to. Just that, you know, to argue with someone about their opinion of what makes an artist because it doesn't match yours, and then not actually offer your own for scrutiny seems a bit pointless and cowardly to me.

True. It proves to me that the fangirls all think alike. And they all resort to the same "logic" when they can't convince everyone that their opinion is "correct" and that Dim-Z and Gerard are gods.

Fair enough. And you won't get filip answers from me. I don't mind debate. I just don't like being attacked.

Most of us are reasonable people here. We aren't bitter, lonely, sexually frustrated or any of those horrible adjectives that our attackers like to throw around.

My opinions are what they are. I don't choose them and I can't change them and I have the right to express them. This is the place where I come to do that, rather than going to an MCR fansite to do so. I think that's fair and, frankly, the polite thing to do.

People should give us the same courtesy and not come here to attack.

Anonymous said...

I thing the poster insinuated that VV was fat because of the comments aimed at Gerard and Lyn-z's appearance, in particular their weight, or the lack of it.

But nobody was saying they were fat. The comments were mainly centered around concerns for their health, especially now that they have a baby.

People were saying that they should want to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle for themselves and the welfare of the child rather than just a way of attracting a mate.

Okay, here's the thing. The matter of how someone wants to identify as a feminist, whatever 'wave' of feminism that might be linked to, isn't the issue for me personally.

My only knowledge of Lindsay is through her professional career and the art that she has played a part in creating and performing, including MSI's music. What I take issue with is that there are certain things MSI want to joke about and treat 'ironically' that just simply should not be joked about or exploited for shock or laughs at all. Child abuse, racial slurs and violent sexualized treatment of young girls and women are all things that crop up a hell of a lot in their songs. And while Lindsay not be the one writing these lyrics, she is the one standing sidestage smiling along in support of them.

Lindsay and the rest of MSI have no right to use those words and mock those issues. You can debate about how much of a feminist role model she is until the cows come home, and I don't think there's ever one clear and correct opinion on that. However, I have yet to hear one person explain to me in a sensible and valid way why her part in a band such as MSI isn't problematic, and why we can't or shouldn't be offended by what she helps put out there. How much we want to be offended and how much we want to talk about it shouldn't be anyone's business but ours.

When you fuck up and do something shitty, people are going to discuss it. If you don't like that, stop saying and doing shitty racist and sexist things.

Everyone flipped their shit about Amanda Palmer. Amanda Palmer was doing exactly the same thing as Lindsay is, and her excuse echoed Lindsay's very much: 'It's just art that you clearly don't get because you're just jealous and if you don't like it you can go and suck it' etc. Anyone with any grasp of feminism would understand that this isn't the correct response when you're called out on your offensive crap. You stop, and consider other people's feelings, not your own pride and butthurt.

I was willing to give Lindsay the benefit of the doubt, as I was Amanda, but they're clearly too far up their own asses now to even consider another point of view than their own.

Finally caught up with all the comments! Phew!

O.K. I want to make it clear that when I likened Gerard to a walking lollipop after he'd lost all that weight it was said in jest you know. No harm meant. Just me being silly.
You know I don't usually comment on people's appearance because to be honest it's really none of my business whether he wants to lose weight or not. Hell I wouldn't like it if he noticed that I had a bit of a rounded tummy and told me to cut back on the hobnobs!

"I was willing to give Lindsay the benefit of the doubt, as I was Amanda, but they're clearly too far up their own asses now to even consider another point of view than their own."

And clearly you know this as fact because you know them both personally?

Just a heads up, I believe the person insinuating VV was fat was illustrating how stupid it was to throw comments like that one around when you clearly don't know anything about said person. Is VV fat? Who knows and honestly, who cares?

All MCR and MSI fans are now fataphobes too? Why because of one comment about Crisps? Any other blanket statements and personal judgements you'd like to add on?

Calling somebody fat here on a blog is just as stupid as changing a person's name to Dim or Retard just to illustrate that you believe they are not bright.

"Clearly Dim-Z & Getard and complete morons?"

You know nothing about these people, how they care for their child, how they live, how they are as people? What they say in interviews or how they express themselves musically could all be some clever (or in your opinions) not so clever ruse or marketing scheme to win over America's disaffected youth. Seems to have worked so far.

Even if you are not a fan of their music you have to admit they are living in our modern society as artists, which only very few people can do.

Again , I say to you. Why bother reading articles in which these people are quoted? You come here day after day to pick apart people you claim to think are not artists. Wouldn't the intelligent choice be to just ignore them?

Perhaps VV isn't fat but most certainly thick headed to create a place just to ramble (FOR YEARS) about people she claims to think are pseudo feminists, racists, or bad parents. You don't see me making a blog about Sarah Palin whom I find reprehensible. It would be a waste of time, just like (in my opinion) this place is a waste of time.

By creating this blog isn't she in fact telling fans and families of these people to (eloquently) "suck it"?

I expect the fangirl name calling should commence right about - Now?

And what if those comments were made in jest, then what?

Or how her part in that band makes her not an artist, a bad mother, or a pseudo feminist?

Addendum: And yes I do realize there are plenty of anti - Sarah Palin sites and blogs here on the web, I just find it ridiculous to waste my online time creating and tending to one.

I would add religious slurs to your list of subjects not to be exploited for shock or used for laughs if you want to be fair and not seen as hypocritical.

Why all the Lyn-Z hate anyway? I thought this blog was supposed to be about MCR.

Clearly people who come up with and use names like that have the emotional maturity of a 12 year old.

Jealousy?
Because much like most blogs there is a lot of girl on girl hatred, often cleverly disguised by feminists agendas?

Agreed, but are you sure you are pointing the finger in the right direction? Why not attack Marilyn Manson? he's guilty of all of the above.

Agreed, though I would say, much like the world in general.

Anonymous said...

You claim Lyn-z is setting femisim back years, yet your opinions and the girl-on-girl hate perpetuated here is far more damaging.
Oh sure, you'll respond to this with the usual 'oh, we only do this on a dark corner of the internet.' Doesn't make it any more acceptable.

Anonymous said...

I wasn't aware of any anti-religious context to MSI's music.

That being said, being anti-religion isn't the same as being racist or homophobic, or sexist. People have views about religions that ban gay relationships and treat women as second-class people, and that's perfectly valid.

11.18, you are the worst troll.

Anonymous said...

I think the Lyn-Z troll actually likes using the word N*gger, too. That's why she's dodging the question of why it's okay to use words like that and other choice phrases from MSI's music.

11:18 said...

Why am I the worst troll? I understand that with me being an anon, and what with the recent slew of like-minded people you probably wouldn't recognise me, but I've been posting here for months, and never with any real issue.

Anonymous said...

"11.18, you are the worst troll."

Why because they makes sense?

11:18 said...

Also, I was not the same person defending MSI's lyrics, because well, I don't care for MSI really. It's not dodging a question when it was never addressed to me. Don't assume I'm rascist please, you're just making yourself look silly and biased.

Anonymous said...

But you're here defending a racist.

Anonymous said...

Honey, no. You're here trolling your head off calling us all jealous and bitter and refusing to read the comment above about the basics behind people's right to be offended and have a space to talk about racist/sexist/homophobic shit. You're latching onto the comments of a few about how people look and completely ignoring the rest.

Anonymous said...

11.26, stop assuming everyone here is jealous or hates Lyn-Z for how she looks, how she lives, or who she married. That shit is old, and isn't making your argument any better.

Anonymous said...

I never once called anyone here jealous or bitter. I'm glad you have a space to talk about racism/sexism/homophobia. Just please, lets hear something that aren't specifically aimed at Lyn-Z? She is by NO means the worst perpetrator of such behaviour. When it's all made so very personal, it kinda gives the people who DO call you the above things ammunition.
You're latching on to a few below the belt comments by others and assuming they are all made by me.

Anonymous said...

STOP excusing her by saying there are worse than her. This blog isnt about other people, it's about MCR and to a large extent MSI. Stop derailing, because it's really fucking starting to grate.

Anonymous said...

Hey black folk! Next time someone calls you a N*gger, just ignore them and stop taking it so personally. They could be doing something much worse, like actually killing you. You're just jealous of their pure white skin anyway.

-Trolly T. Trollykins.

You're latching on to a few below the belt comments by others and assuming they are all made by me.

And you're doing the same with the jibes about her apperance and assuming they're the comments of everyone here. Just stop it, because you're coming across as a defensive tool. If people want to be offended, let them be. Because it's not your right to police their emotions.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:45

So MSI songs have racist lyrics and you rightly abhore them for it. But it's okay for you to make a mockery of it if it proves your point on some silly little blog? Lame.

Call me a troll all you like, at least I don't make uncalled for personal comments about others.

Anonymous said...

I believe I'm mocking YOU and your ignorant white-person nonsense, not racism. You are after all apparently clueless and boring. I might as well laugh at you.

Oh 11.50, I think you're done, love. If you take the bird out now you might even still be able to eat some of it.

I wasn't the same person refering to jibes about her appearance. I've been here months and the Lyn-Z hate runs deeper than that. I know it's not all of you but there have been really outlandish claims made on here about her being a bad mother, a goldigger and a horrible person. You have the right to be offended by her actions. But I have the right to be offended by some of the comments on this blog too.

Anonymous said...

Yes, but not attribute them all to every single person. I hate some of the crazy theories and comments too, but you're just talking round in circles.

Anonymous said...

I believe I'm mocking YOU and your ignorant white-person nonsense, not racism. You are after all apparently clueless and boring. I might as well laugh at you.

What, of anything I have said could be considered 'white person nonsense'? I find that offensive, you don't know my ethnicity. I wasn't the same person talking about the lyrics. Did I ever once defend them or the use of the N-word? No. Did I ever even really defend Lyn-Z as a person? No. But sure, go ahead and laugh. It seems that is what you do best, point and laugh at others.

Anonymous said...

You're whitewashing the whole race debate by telling us that 'some people are worse' and we should leave Lindsay alone. Poor white Lindsay, how will she cope!

Anonymous said...

Yes, but not attribute them all to every single person.

That's not my intention and I never meant for it to sound as such. I just comment whenever I think something is being said unfairly.

Anonymous said...

I didn't say leave her alone. Just that if it's something you feel so strongly about, why not take greater action? Her skin colour is irrelevant, please stop making such unnecessary comments.

Anonymous said...

Oh, right, so we should react how YOU want us to react? Are you for fucking serious with this crap?

Anonymous said...

?? I didn't tell you how to react, I asked you a question.

Anonymous said...

You're telling us that if we are that offended we should take more action. That's telling people how to react, and if you're being sarcastic, then you're being a derailing tool. Be very careful when telling POC how to react to racism. Usually it doesn't work out too well.

Anonymous said...

What's your race 12:01? Your skin color.

You're the one who insists on bringing those things into your anti LynZ agrument.

Why bring up the fact that she's white? Are you a racist? Would you see her as a better person if she wasn't white?

Anonymous said...

"Poor white Lindsay, how will she cope!"

That is a racist statement.

Anonymous said...

That's not what I was trying to say. That's your perogative, I was just asking why you didn't, or in other words, why this whole blog seems to be mainly a witch-hunt against one woman.
I'd also like to point out that I never used the N-word either, the other poster did. After all, isn't the use of the word what people were offended about in regards to the racism in MSI's lyrics? I wouldn't know, I don't listen to them.

Anonymous said...

LOL You're hilarious. Keep going, this is too funny.

I might copy and paste it to cluelessbutthurtwhitepeople.com.

Anonymous said...

Apparently to our little troll, Lindsay's feelings are more important than the feelings of an entire race of people her and her band mock everytime they get on stage and throw around a racial slur 'for lolz'.

Keep digging, honey. You might come out on the other side.

Anonymous said...

@1:04

If someone had posted that same comment in reference to a race other than white, such as coloured people getting offended over MSI's lyrics then you KNOW it would be a whole different story. Only, I don't think anyone here would ever be so low as to do that.

You've spent the whole night telling me I can't tell people what to get offended over (not that I have even tried to)and now you say our offence is just 'crazybutthurt'? Gotta love double standards.

Anonymous said...

That is a racist statement? That is me mocking you and your ability to turn Lindsay, the white person who mocks black people (who get a shit enough time as it is without the white perks that Lindsay gets in life), into a victim. You really are disgusting.

Anonymous said...

FFS, are you the most epic n00b to the fact that YOU CAN'T COMPARE WHITE BUTTHURT TO ANYTHING ELSE?!?!?!

White people run the world, idiot. You can victimize white people because white people do that to EVERYONE ELSE WHO ISN'T WHITE.

God, it's like Racism for dummies tonight.

Anonymous said...

Apparently to our little troll, Lindsay's feelings are more important than the feelings of an entire race of people her and her band mock everytime they get on stage and throw around a racial slur 'for lolz'.

Where did I defend their lyrics? Where? Also, I was not the one throwing racial slurs around here for lolz like a certain other anon.

Anonymous said...

1:07, its actually 'People of Color', not 'colored'. Colored is what they used to call us about thirty years ago. I know it's hard, but do try to keep up.

Anonymous said...

OMG you did not just call 'White person' a racial slur. I might actually die from laughing.

You do know that when there's a comment on this page with the word 'N*gger' in it, it's for your clueless white benefit? It's like a flag. Step back and think about what the sarcasm might be trying to tell you.

Anonymous said...

Fish in a fucking barrel tonight, I swear.

Anonymous said...

Where did I defend their lyrics?

I think the whole 'well sure it's offensive but you don't need to get that offended at poor Lindsay' statement of yours is what's the problem here.

Lindsay tried to defend her racism by saying that everyone's a little bit racist. That's why she's a tool. Because dear God, we don't find the N word funny, so therefore we must be hypocrites who liked Borat in secret.

Anonymous said...

You're defending racism by turning the problem around onto the people who are offended and how they choose to express that instead of the issue of the racism itself. That's basically the problem I have with you.

Anonymous said...

edit for my comment 1:09, it was supposed to say you can't victimize white people.

Anonymous said...

I'm not defending racism. It's an argument I don't want a part of because I don't think it's one anyone is going to agree on and we'll be going round in circles.

I think racism is wrong.

I think anyone using the N-word in whatever context is only adding to the controversy.

I apologise if my use of the word 'coloured' offended anybody. I'm obviously from a different culture, where that word is still widely used by the media.
