"I can't stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I've become"

It's great when rock stars who drink and have done drugs and maybe still drink, get together to create "rock royalty"..... Congratulations and good luck.

(It's funny how Frances did become that "death rocker" and who encourages her to be that way).

Hey everyone.

S'been awhile since I've been around, but thought I'd stop by & see what was pissing people off recently. ^_~

And now (of course) I have some comments to make.

Firstly, hardcore was meant be be in direct opposition to 'normal' society and it's mores & norms. Getting married and having children is so NOT hardcore, it shouldn't even have to be said. Who do these suck-puppets think they're trying to convince, anyway?

Secondly, although I've lost all faith in Gerard, I expected better from the other guys in the band. Leathermouth playing with MSI and Bob's derogatory 'creativity' is just rubbing shit in the fans' wounds, in my ever-so-humble opinion. As for Ray being an Apple-puppet, he should have held out for Ford. Just sayin'.

I don't *do* Twitter, but I can think of a few messages I'd like to send. "Eat shit & fuck off" being the most likely opening tidbit.

Somebody call the has-been police -- these guys have officially killed their own hype.

I know that I am late on this, but I had to comment.

You enjoy sex fine, you want to dress in tight clothes to show off what a great body you have fine. But please stop thinking that some how that makes you a feminist or empowered woman

I have to disagree with you here. The feminist movement is about freedom of choice, whether that is to be a homemaker or "slut", and saying otherwise only continues to discredit the feminist movement.

You can't say that the behavior is "fine" and cast it aside as "un-feminist" at the same time. That is a complete contradiction because you are essentially still outcasting those women, which only promotes the sexist dichotomy.

The only way to truly achieve equality is if women stop grading each other on their sexual habits. What a women wears/who she fucks should have no impact on her character, and that includes whether or not she is considered good enough to be a "feminist".

Sorry about the rant. xo

sister midnite said...

12:39, I understand what you're saying, and I agree -- to a point. A woman who seems to use her short & tight clothing and sexuality to get what she wants has every right to do so. But when that same woman brags about being a feminist & a role model, she's going to be seen as a flaming hypocrite, and she's going to piss off women who've gotten to where they are in life by excluding their sexuality.

Think about breast size: many women are naturally big-breasted, and many get surgery to become bigger-breasted. Some flaunt it, some try to hide it. But sadly, there are few men who can look at a woman's boobs without turning into a drooling male-mess. Pamela Anderson might consider herself a feminist, but as someone who hasn't posed nude & fucked a lot of celebrities, I would feel pretty shitty about her a spokesperson for feminine equality. Personal choices are just that - I hear you on that part - but most of the world still doesn't see it that way.

I think it was Betty Friedan who promoted women using their sexuality to gain power; even though she's considered by many to be a leader in the feminist movement, I'd still like to kick her in the ass for her preachings!

sister midnite said...

* her AS a spokesperson.
Damn typos!

Anonymous said...

I'm not talking about sexuality to get something else you want, but sexuality because she that IS what you want.

And I wasn't saying that being sexual automatically makes a women a feminist (like you pointed out with Pamela Anderson), I was saying that it shouldn't automatically exclude her. Which is what you seem to be doing. You seem to be saying that a women cannot admits to liking sex.

To me, it seems to just play into the dichotomy that only stupid women are sexual and that smart women "know better", so a feminist can't be sexual. I don't know about you, but that seems like a very sexist ideal to me.

Sexuality is natural and the ideologies that say it isn't (emphasis on women) are exactly what the feminist movement is supposed to be fighting. So, why is it that women continue to promote the very thing that is keeping them down?

Really. I'm curious.

xo

* You seem to be that a women cannot be a feminist and also admit to liking sex.

Big oops.

Anonymous said...

I'm not seeing the argument anywhere here about women not being allowed to like sex or to dress how they want. Either I missed it, or Cupcake, you're reading into something. I certainly didn't see MJ suggest that it was wrong to like sex.

My problem with Lindsey, speaking for myself here, is how she blatantly admits that she can't play her instrument but "Hey, I can do a backbend and be a performer, let's see you do that!" and then sleeps her way to the top (would MSI be anywhere near where they are if Gerard hadn't pushed them there? It has nothing to do with him marrying her, but everything to do with both of them exploiting the marriage to add to her fame.) The band she's in is degrading to women and little girls, and then she calls herself a feminist and an inspiration to little girls.

Uhh, not in any kind of Earth Logic.

Anonymous said...

I don't care that Lynz dresses in a tiny skirt and does backbends and flashes her panties. It's only when she claims that she is doing it to inspire other girls that annoys me.

That wasn't my intention, so I apologize if it seemed that way. I have nothing against women liking sex, and I agree with you that they should be able to like sex without being judged for it.
However, I don't consider sexuality to be the main emphasis of feminism: to me, it should be about ALL the same rights & freedoms, regardless of gender. My personal belief is that our society places too much of an emphasis on gender, and the way many people socialize their children reflects this. It's where the stupid double standard originated in the first place.

I think MJ's point was specifically about certain behaviors some women show, that go against what many other women have had to overcome. If LynZ is truly a feminist, she would be trying to promote herself on her own without having to always bring Gerard into whatever she's trying to achieve. (The same could be said of him, but he's still heading towards becoming a lost cause.)

No, that was what the original post that Martha commented on was entirely about. So, yes, it is the conversation.

The original post had nothing to do with using said sexuality for any profit. That came from Martha's reaction to the original post, and I was just sharing my opinion back.

I was merely contributing to the conversation and was not even talking about Lindsey. I mean, I understand considering what blog this is on, but I never meant my comments to be hostile. I'm thinking there was a miscommunication here.

I agree sister midnite, that the other subjects concerned in feminism hold much more importance.

The problem is, I believe, that the sexuality aspect of it is what causes the controversy surrounding feminism. Plus, sexuality is such a base part of our interactions with other people, that it is unavoidable. So, I think it really needs to get talked about.

sister midnite said...

Sexuality may be part of the feminism controversy, Cupcake, but then sexuality is also the root of a lot of the problems of the human race. :)

So here's a question: Can a porn star still be a feminist?

(I know I tend to jump to the extreme side of any given viewpoint, but that's just me.)

Anonymous said...

To Sister Midnite:

I'm not sure about that one. I'll have to think on that one. I mean, she could still support and fight for all the rights you mentioned earlier, right? Why not? Like you said, feminism should focus on the rights we need to achieve and not get caught up in sexuality and gender. But, it would obviously greatly depend on her circumstance and where she is coming from.

But I certainly wouldn't let that affect my judgement of her character and whether or not she is a good person.

sister midnite said...

See, that's where I beg to differ, CC. I try not to judge, because she deserves the same rights as anyone else regardless of her profession. But it's not that simple, is it? Porn is a male-dominated industry, where I don't believe that women have the same privileges or even SOP's standard operating procedures) as the men. From what I've heard about any of the sex occupations, the women are pretty much treated like a pair of tit's with a vagina and an ass. I don't see how someone who considered herself a feminist would be able to tolerate that, y'know?

Maybe my definition of a feminist is just different than other peoples'. To me, a feminist is someone who is strong enough, determined enough, to make it on her own without having to depend on anything but her own strength of will. Maybe I'm over-simplifying things, it wouldn't be the first time. ^_~

Cupcake, please don't assume that because I pointed something out to you, that I, or any of us, need to "relax." I'm sorry, it irks me when you disagree with someone (and in this case I didn't even do so,) and they tell you to "relax" or "chill out." No one was being hostile with you; I certainly wasn't. But I do get annoyed when people assume that everyone else is tense and they alone are "chill."

Moving on, I see both yours and Sis Midnite's points here. It seems as if the crux of the matter is the difference between second-wave feminism and third-wave feminism.

I've often thought that Lindsey was trying desperately to put across, and failing abjectly while she was at it. Third Wave feminism is about re-thinking a woman's right to be in pornography and / or to sex it up if that's what she really desires. That taking away a woman's right to expose and to utilize her sexuality for gain is a form of oppression.

I do agree with that, but I also agree that porn is a male dominated industry, therefore the idea of pornographic degradation of women somehow being empowering is kind of ludicrous at the same time.

The reasons why Lindsey fails so hard is because for one thing, her new fame comes solely from her marriage, which both of them exploit to ridiculous amounts, for obvious monetary gain for her. Also because she talks about "working hard" to get where she is, yet she freely admits that she can't be assed to actually learn to play her instrument. And for me, the most important aspect of why her attempts at justifying some kind of "in her mind only" third-wave feminism is because of MSI's lyrics. They actually promote the degradation of women.

That, and because she doesn't seem to good at explaining things in interviews and she comes across as grasping, weak, and contradictory.

A street magician named David Blaine comes to South Park. The boys are tricked into joining "Blaintologists", a cult. Stan is creeped out and soon leaves; Kyle refuses to join him. Stan looks for help from South Park's own resident messiah, Jesus.

At Blaine's big show in Denver, filled with Blaintologists and those interested in Blaintology as well, Jesus appears and challenges Blaine, and shows one of his famous miracles, the miracle of the loaves and fishes. However, this miracle proves to be very weak (he has everybody in the audience turn around to do it), and Blaine manages to win the crowd with much more powerful enchantments. Jesus realizes he needs help, and calls the Super Best Friends, a group of major religious figures (and Sea Man) who defend the world against evil (except for Buddha who doesn't really believe in evil).

The Blaintologists, meanwhile, petition the government for tax-exempt status, which would make them a real religion and therefore unstoppable; when they are denied, all the Blaintologists are told they are to commit mass suicide in Washington, D.C. Kyle realizes now that the cult is evil, but when he tries to convince Cartman that they should flee, Cartman tells on him and he is imprisoned in a glass bubble and told he will be killed involuntarily at the mass suicide. When word gets out to the SBF, they consult Moses for advice.

At Washington, the Blaintologists begin to drown themselves in the Reflecting Pool (even though it is only about a foot deep and they have to lie on their fronts to do it), and Cartman puts a hose in Kyle's glass bubble to fill it with water so he will die involuntarily. The Super Best Friends arrive, but Blaine brings the statue of Abraham Lincoln to life to fight them. Meanwhile, Stan went out in search of his friends. He finds Kenny drowned in the pool and shouts "Oh my God, they killed Kenny!" and in response Kyle shouts "You bastards!". Stan repeats the phrase in order to find Kyle, in a Marco Polo fashion. To defeat the Abraham Lincoln statue, the SBF create a giant stone John Wilkes Booth, and it shoots Blaine's puppet in the head. The resulting fall shatters Kyle's prison (which the statue had picked up and shaken, believing it to be a snow globe) and the pool is frozen using Joseph Smith's ice powers to prevent more suicides. Cartman has not managed to kill himself, as he keeps coming up for air because he doesn't like to swim. Kyle reconciles with Stan. Cartman remarks in a fake sweet voice "Aah! That's so sweet you guys!" then asks them if they want to get a room to make out for a while and laughs, but then ends up getting repeated kicks in the testicles from both of them.

Blaine flies away in a rocket ship, and Stan announces to everyone that any religion that forces you to give up your money or control of your life is really a cult. The Super Best Friends then fly away, to await when the world will need their aid again.

Yes it was a tiny part of the interview towards the end if I remember. I have just spent 15 mins on Youtube watching MSI interviews!

I must be crazy! Anyway I can't find it.

Anonymous said...

You just spent 15 minutes watching MSI interviews - you deserve a reward. I just watched that interview on youtube Lynz and Steve did with rock sound during the Reading Festival. I'd heard about it, but I'd never seen it before and my god, does she look like she's off her head with drugs. She doesn't look like she's drunk, her speech is fine, but the way she keeps sniffing and rubbing her nose and flinging her arms all over the place and doing silly things with her hair seems more like drugs. Its kind of worrying, the interview was done at the end of August, which would have been just before she got pregnant - I assume when they announced the pregnancy at the end of November thay had waited the 3 months before annoucning it to be on the safe side. Its possible she was already pregnant when this interview was made.

Anonymous said...

That Rocksound video interview is bad isn't it. She certainly appears to be on something!

I am guessing that they wouldn't announce any pregnancy until she was 12 weeks pregnant and had the first scan. But the 12 weeks would start at day 1 which is the first day of your period. So basically by the time your next period is due, if you are pregnant, then you are already 4 weeks pregnant. (a pregnancy is counted from the life of the egg. So even if a pregnancy is 40 weeks long, it would have been 38 weeks since conception occurred, ie. ovulation in that first month.)

So i would doubt she was pregnant during that interview as it was in August.

Boring biology lesson over......

I think it is more the fact that she appears to be using drugs so close to getting pregnant, makes me think the pregnancy was probably unplanned.

Not that it's any of my business but fuck it, just my thoughts!

I meant Gerard the fart's twitter account.

How many issues are there so far? And how long are those stories? (How many pages)

Siobhan-, usually in a comic there's 32 pages so it's pretty small. So far there's a total of 7 issues out I believe, and also a collector's edition.

A pertinent quote from the website Heartless Bitches that I thought some of you might find, err, relevant to the conversation:

Since when has being cheap counted as "empowerment"?...Hey, I'm all for getting in touch with the "inner goddess" by pole dancing you're[sic] way to "new you", but you can't get lobster thermidore out of a can of tuna. Get a life.

Anonymous said...

LOL @ Are you tired of men and women who are emotional children, and won't accept responsibility for their actions or behavior?

Very appropriate.

And to Kapunua - I never said anything about "cheap". Short or tight does not automatically equal trashy or cheap. If it is done right, it can be classy.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

But it is so much easier to get cheap and trashy.

Hi Cupcake. My comment wasn't referring to anything you said. I just found the quote there and it reminded me of Lindsey, so I posted it here.

Okay, wow. I've just been on MCR's new website for the first time since they changed it (I haven't been following the band and didn't know about it until a friend told me yesterday). I can't believe I ever liked these guys. Who knew they were so obnoxious and shallow? I have to say I'm really disappointed in Bob.

From Gerard: "Some of you may be asking yourselves, "Does reality T.V. make you dumber?"
My answer to this is "Absolutely, yes".

But I figured I should be okay for a little wile..."

No Gerard, I don't think Reality TV could possibly make you any dumber than you already are.

I won't be visiting that site again.

LOL Kate.

I'm about to write this Noah an e-mail too.

The 'Contact' link leads to afore-mentioned e-mail address.
I think he should be the right person to talk to.

Why do people think so highly of Frank and yet are willing to condemn Gerard? What's the difference between those two?
Frank's band is supporting MSI and he wears their band merch. Obviously, he doesn't give a fuck about what we think and seems to be fine with Gerard's or any other band member's actions which contrast with the moral beliefs they were promoting in the past.
I think people have only replaced Gerard with Frank and just like those fan girls on INO, BN or even Bob Bryar's TwitPic site they're in denial and don't want their idol to be dismantled.
Frank is not the saint of MCR who is only waiting for the right moment to save the band and to put them back on track. He's either supporting all of this bullshit wholeheartedly or he's a coward with no balls who's scared to stand up to the others and just keeps his mouth shut and plays along. Honestly, I don't know which is worse!

Actually, porn is one of the few industries where women (on average) make more than the men for an equivalent job - obviously excluding the directors, producers, etc.. There's a saying in San Fernando valley that 'women do porn for the money, men do porn for the women'.

For the top performers, maybe. I wasn't really referring to pay scale, I was referring to the way a lot of producers & directors/crew seem to view the women.

Made the mistake of going to the MCR website to see what all this Twitter shit was about... and saw the posts by Frank and Toro, both expressing their admiration for Gerard's blogging 'skills'. Sure, guys - pat him on the back some more for his random "me, me me" babbling, I don't think his ego is QUITE big enough yet.

I give it two days before Gerard starts boring people even more with "I like pie, don't you?" >_<
And people credit this guy with being a genius? Puhhhleassssse.

Can Frank really not see how Gerard has changed into this giant ass since he got with Lynz. Is he really that blind. He seemed to be kissing up to Gerard in his blog on the bands website, going on about how amazing Gerard is. It seems there's no hope for anyone in MCR, what with Bob using the C-word and Frank touring with MSI. I just don't see how they went from those kids in LOTMS to who they are now, and literally within a few months of project rev.

Anonymous said...

It's all well and good that Frank thinks all their kids will be on the road with them.

Probably in the future, on occasion, they will be. But speaking as a mother, I wouldn't want to hang around airports, tour buses, parking lots and venues for long hours with my child on a regular basis! I don't think Frank realises quite what a lot of hard work having a child around is. They can be very tiresome at times! Children aren't a walk in the park. Car journeys and travel alone are HELL!

The other thing I was going to say, is that the child generally stays with their mother (especially whilst young). Where the mother is, the child is also. Just one of those nature things. I cannot bear to be separated from my daughter overnight. I just can't do it! If Lynz is still with MSI then the child will be with her, not GW and MCR. No discussion. It's easy if it's the father who is in the band but not if it's the mother who is in a band, and both parents are in different bands. But hey she may just quit MSI and then they can all play happy families with MCR!

Anonymous said...

MCR now are unrecogniseable from LOTMS MCR.

Sadly it was LOTMS MCR that I bought into.

I think SUCKERED is the correct word.

Anonymous said...

Don't assume that LynZ is going to be a typical mother with typical maternal feelings. She could be quite the opposite. She could be the distant and selfish type.

Anonymous said...

^^I guess?!

Can't comprehend that, but each to their own I suppose?

Anonymous said...

At least if she's pregnant, Lynz will be forced to actually buy some new clothes and change out of those same outfits she's been wearing for the past few years. The thought though of that child being allowed anywhere near Jimmy Urine just makes me ill. The band are constantly associated with drugs, they may or may not be doing it themselves, but the clubs where they play there are people doing them. I just woulnd't want any child anywhere near MSI - and yet Gerard is obviously ok with it.

Anonymous said...

11:18 has a point. They could all be a pack of outrageous liars. I am also under the impression their publicists are aware of the internet flogging of GW, and the perception of conflict within the band. The blogs, the interviews, all appear to be part of damage control. Maybe they all got together to work out how to quell all the rumors, to try to show everything is fine and it's business as usual, and everything is hunky dory. They are still under contract and have a potential new release to sell. That, my friends, is what you call business.

Anonymous said...

i'll bet that Gerard picks Jimmy Urine over Mikey to be the baby's Godfather

Anonymous said...

^ That'd be interesting. . . Maybe Jimmy get's god mother, instead- or vice versa?

Most mothers think having a kid will be easy, my friend was about to go to Japan before the baby was born, she had paid and everything, but when the baby came along she found out it was so much harder than she expected. She didn't go to Japan.

Maybe Lyn-z thought having her kid at every one of her shows would be great, until it starts crying and demanding attention. I think she thinks that the baby will just be angelic and the only hard part will be birth.

Anonymous said...

I imagine being a mother will be easy for Lynz - there will be nannies and cleaners and the best doctors. All paid for with our money.

Anonymous said...

the baby's first word will be "like".

Anonymous said...

I guess no one's realized yet that Lyn doesn't wear her stage costumes off-stage. You know, "off-stage," the vast majority of the time the child will see her.

Anonymous said...

^ That's assuming she doesn't bring the kid on tour with her, which means the kid probably would see her that much period.

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't**

Gerard was starting to become an a-hole before Lyn showed up. Doesn't anyone remember mid-07?

Anonymous said...

i always cringe when i see posts that say "oh i loved the gerard in life on the murder scene but he's changed now"

um. YEAH he has. that stuff is kind of old. back then the band was his entire life. he didn't have much else going on to worry about. now he has a successful comic book (even though its success is because of the band), and a new family. you can't expect him to be 100% the same. now the fans have to share him, and they don't like it. but really his friends and family will be there when the band eventually ends, so yeah he'd want to focus more on that so that they actually are still there.

mcr fans are spoiled because of the constant touring and the attention the guys have given their fans.

and i beleive the fanbase as a whole has jaded him. like lately there have been so many little girls screaming for him, at both mcr and ua things. that gets really old really fast.

so yeah he's changing, but a lot of it isn't completely his fault. and if you don't like it, leave.

Er, leave what? This blog? Or Gerard's asshole? Sorry, never been in there. But you should have stuck your head out of his ass from time to time so that you probably could have followed the discussion and realized that it's not about Gerard and/or the band spending more time with their family and not with the fans. It's about the band - and Gerard in particular - representing a certain mind-set in the past which made many people believe in and look up to them which they don't seem to remember anymore, now that they're filthy rich and famous.

Thing is, what's going to happen to this band when the teenies desert them? They will, you know. They always do. So you know, if you're such a huge fan, maybe you shouldn't be telling people to leave the fanbase when it's going to need all the fans it can get sometime in the near future.

Gerard was not really nice during mcr tour here in asia(wont say which country). i met this dude who was their local roadie and he said that gerard was arrogant compared to other international bands he worked for before. Gerard was cold towards fans in meet&greet as well and shrugged a girl off when she tried to talk to him. He didn't communicate much with the audience during the show either, the only thing he said to us was to move backwards but due to language barrier - the majority of the crowd just stood still and i think he gave up communicating with us after that. My show was really bleh, its different compared to those mcr videos on dvd and youtube and unsurprisingly, they didn't get good concert review here. idk, maybe he was tired, or worried about terrorist attack here, or maybe its just one of his moods, but i cant help feeling that Gerard treated us like second class fans. I still like MCR though but we can only envy fans from USA/Europe who get to see the nice Gerard but we (who only get to see mcr once in a lifetime) didnt :(

ps: sorry for my bad english. not a native speaker here.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

Still a fan but,

I get what you mean. Both MCR shows that I went to were great except for fan service. You see the videos on youtube where everyone in the band is playing around with each other and you think you will be getting that. But both times I saw them I didn't It also felt like the show just ended and they left. They did the encores but it felt more like part of the normal show than an encore.

It isn't just the Asian countries. I can understand not wanting to talk to the fans all the time. They are humans and sometimes you just don't feel in the mood but I remember hearing that it was going on at every meet and greet. He wouldn't smile and would act like it was a chore to meet the fans.

Anonymous said...

Still a Fan,

The Gerard you saw was, unfortunately, the Gerard everyone else has been seeing since around the middle of 07. Thing is, he isn't the same Gerard that some of us older fans saw back in 04-05. Even during the Revenge tour in 05, when the band was beginning to get really big, Gerard was gracious to fans and seemed to actually be grateful for them. Back then he used to make an effort to communicate and interact with fans while he was onstage as well.

I've seen MCR twice since then and that Gerard seemed like a totally different person. The worst was Projekt Revolution, where he was so arrogant he nearly made my stomach turn. I have friends all over the world who say the same thing: since the middle of 07, his demeanor at shows has completely changed.

I don't buy the "everybody changes, he's grown up and has a family now and they come first" bullshit that fangirls keep spouting. The changes took place way before he got with Lindsey, and they've been getting steadily worse since then. If I had to guess as to a reason, I would say that he's just become used to the adulation, he takes his fans for granted and he thinks he's too good to interact with them now. I also think a lot of his earlier "niceness" was an act: kind of like when you start a new relationship and you put your best face forward the first few months, you know what I mean?

So, wow, this comment was way longer than I intended it to be, but I just want you to know that it wasn't just in your country that Gerard acted like an ass. He's been pretty asshole-ish across the board for a long time now.

Anonymous said...

Okay, yeah, I hadn't had my coffee yet when I made that earlier comment. I meant to say that Gerard hasn't been the same since early 07, not the middle.

Sorry.

Anonymous said...

A friend of mine still was, and so I gave her tickets to see them on their very last tour around the US as a gift.
At the time, any fan you talked to was saying how great they were on this tour. I don't know what shows they have been to before, but that was the worst show I have ever seen come out of a world famous, mainstream, rock band.
No one moved around, not even Frank or Gerard, there was no light show and no theatrics AT ALL (not even a lousy banner). So, obviously the crowd wasn't feeling it. Despite the front being packed with hyper-excited 13 year olds, there was no movement. So, of course, Gerard proceeded to yell at the audience and told them how much they sucked. That would also be one of the few times he actually talked. The only other time would be to tell a random story about Disneyland (it was funny, but there was no connection with the audience).
Also, in between every song, they would turn the lights completely off. Weird, and out of all the shows I've been to, have never seen anything like it before. Sometimes they would be off for several minutes. Even my friend (who is older and doesn't use the internet and knew nothing of the controversy going on with the band amongst the fans) turned to me during one of these blackouts and said, "makes you wonder what their doing back there, huh?". Needless to say, the blackouts were off putting and killed the little bit of mood they had created every time.
It really looked like a band that just didn't give a shit enough to even put in the effort of a good show. With all the resources at their disposal, and all the money, that show was about the quality of a second-rate band playing at your local bar. Pathetic.
I don't know how he acted with fans afterward (or if he stuck around at all) because my friend was really disappointed so we bolted after the encore.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

not a fan for awhile but,

From what I heard TBP tour didn't do as well as everyone had hoped. I think it was mainly because of the cost of all the special effects. Rumor was that the band broke even t the end of everything.

I think this last tour was their way of making some money for themselves and the record company. I didn't have all the problems you had at your show but their was very little interaction between the people in the band.

Anonymous said...

ok so i wanted to write a blog this morning but when i got to the site all i could do was read all of gerards posts....and think how in the fuck does he find the time??? the time to be in this band, write a comic, be a husband, and write hilarious reviews about reality tv?? not to mention have the time to watch reality tv enough to be able to write hilarious reviews about it? am i missing something? i mean really, not to mention his posts are fucking gripping, like you cant put the computer screen down, in fear that you may miss the secrets of the universe revealed to you in the middle of his thoughts about the pick up artist2. my posts are bullshit in comparison. i dare say there have to be multiples, gerard clones, or robots im not sure yet, all i know is that gerard way is way too productive for my comfort zone. somethings up and im too busy reading his blogs to find out what it is. xofrank

------------------------------------

Has anyone posted this yet? I hate to diss on Frank, but it seems that after reading this post, he's looking as if he's kissing Gerard's ass.

No disrespect intended, but Gerard' posts about reality TV are FAR from being funny. As a matter of fact, all of his posts are boring and lack so much substance and interest that it only took me less than five minutes to read all of them.

And as far as his posts being gripping is concerned, you gotta be fucking kidding me.

Anonymous said...

but i cant help feeling that Gerard treated us like second class fans.

I agree with you. I often get the impression that foreign music acts make the most effort while touring their home countries. The concert I was at was also quite disappointing. Gerard always said:Danke, motherfuckers! or Dankeschön, motherfuckers!, it got really annoying and after some time I felt as if he was mocking us. He did interact with the crowd, though. He talked to us and told us silly stories that I don't remember anymore. So I can't say anything bad about that. Still, the band didn't seem to be very enthusiastic. It wasn't very long either.

Anonymous said...

Isn't he already kissing his ass by touring with MSI? Do you really need more proof to see that he's just as much of an asshole as Gerard?

I get the feeling that Frank's post was sarcastic, yet Gerard's ego is so huge that he probably took it literally. I also think Frank knows this and uses it to his advantage. Frank is one smart cookie. But regardless, he's still an asshole - all of them are.

People being drunk and lying under the table. People snorting coke from others asses. People shooting up in front of the baby. Lyn-Z pole dancing for Gerard and his family. Awww, moments to treasure.

Anonymous said...

O_o She didn't deny it.

Well actually, she said it in a famous Vanity Fair article, then when people got upset, she denied that she had said it. She said that Vanity Fair had made it up. And then they were going to sue Vanity Fair until Courtney found out that the interviewer still had the tapes. Then, mysteriously, they weren't going to take any action against the paper. Much of "In Utero" is about that whole thing.

But in a book about Kurt Cobain that came out around '95 or so, they both admit that she was using heroin in her first trimester.

Honestly, I think Gerard has done a pretty good job of turning a lot of the people in the media against MCR - with the exception of Kerrang and NME who'll kiss anyone's ass to make a buck.

I've also heard rumors that other bands aren't too fond of them these days. I saw an interview with the singer from Rise Against once and when he was asked how it was to tour with MCR he said something very noncommital and it seemed to me like he wasn't even trying to hide his dislike for them. I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say I personally don't believe Bob or Frank to be assholes. When I met Bob in April at a local show he was as nice as he could be. He was just walking around amongst the crowd (this was a radio show) and no one seemed to notice him at all. When we did approach him we were very quiet and asked if we could get a picture with him. He said of course chatted with us for a bit, thanked us for our support and then went on his way.

I also met Frank in August and he still seemed like the same genuine person he was when I'd met him before. There wasn't an ounce of ego that I could see. And it didn't seem like an act.

That being said, each and every time I've met Gerard since early 07 he has been a giant ass! Not only does he seem completely bothered by his fans but he also seems to derive some sort of sick pleasure out of the fact that he CAN treat people like shit and nothing comes from it.

The best thing that can happen to Gerard in my opinion is that he is slapped in the face by a giant dose of reality. I don't believe the next record will be anywhere near as successful as TBP and maybe not even Revenge. I believe this second series of TUA will also be less successful seeing as many of the teenage girls who bought it are already moving on into Twilight and such. With the wifey out of work and money being thrown away on fancy hand bags and monkeys and MCR not doing much of anything except trying to get people to buy over priced merch, money is going to get tight. And when it does I predict a sudden change in our Mr. Way. Too bad by then it will be too little too late.

still a fan

Is your country the one where they spent the whole time surrounded by army escorts after martial law was declared, or the one where the spent the whole time surrounded by armed guards because of threatened machete attacks and kidnappings of Americans?

I don't think that it was Asia that was important, but that it was the tail-end of two years of non-stop touring where pretty much everything that could have gone wrong, did.

^ Look, another "insider". *Rolls eyes*

Reading an interview with James Dewees now qualifies me as an insider? Huh.

Link to interview?

Martha Smith-Jones said...

No one was saying Asia was important. That person was talking about what her show was like.

She was talking about feeling like she was a second class fan because she wasn't from Europe/USA. I was saying that it probably didn't have anything to do with which country it was, so much as it happening at the end of two years of fucked up touring and there being other issues which she herself acknowledged. It won't change her experience, but puts it in better context.

5.11 am that is why others started talking about their bad experiences at the shows.

It was a bad tour and they had been touring non stop for 2 years they should still at least try on put on a good show. Unless they were ill there is no reason to take it out on the fans. They need to be professional about it and think about the fact that a lot of the fans may not have spoken English but they still came to see them. As that person said it was a once in a life time thing.

Funny how people always make excuses for MCR playing bad shows as long as it wasn't the show they went to, isn't it?

I doubt they'd be quite so understanding had it been their only chance to see them live.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

IF you read the interview Reggie doesn't make it sound as bad as 5.11 was saying. He even said that they had to have body guards in Russia that were armed.

Anonymous said...

The way I see it, that should have given them motivation to make the show even better.

MCR were there to entertain these kids, to give them at least one night where they could relax and let go. If it was as bad as the Anon says, then imagine what the kids have to go through, everyday. Gerard, who is surrounded by his armed guards and layers of protection, has NO right to bitch in comparison to those kids.

His sole reason for being there was to give these kids a once in a lifetime opportunity. The way I see it, they should have walked away thinking it was the best night of their lives. Anything less than that, and certainly the pitiful show the other Anon described, is failure.

Only a total megalomaniac would go into that situation and think "Oh, poor me." Please.

I can't respect a review coming from a person who said, " it was hard to get into the band because Lynz was missing."
She is not the entire band she plays a small part if any at all.

I know, it's like the show was meaningless if they didn't get a glimpse of their ~idol

Gerard just said he shaved his head on twitter.

Anonymous said...

Mj, I totally agree. I first thought that it was a review from a magazine and not some fan girl on 'My Chemical Freak'.
The funny thing is that Frank can't escape the teenies and he seems to be fully aware of it. He knows what kind of people come to his shows and you can tell by him talking to the crowd about the current No. 1 teen movie 'Twilight'.

Anonymous said...

12:31 i think he meant that he needed to shave his head, no that he actually did, but who knows

Martha Smith-Jones said...

If Frank didn't like the teen audience than why is he playing with msi. We all know that MCR fans go there in hopes of seeing Gerard and his wife.

Gerard shaved his head?

Anonymous said...

If Gerard shaved his head it was probably do avoid a drug test.

Gerard needs to post a pic of that shit.
