Good riddance

MRC broke up. Good riddance to bad garbage.

But I really doubt that we'll stop hearing their self involved, sexist and racist tweets. Usually when someone in the spotlight says some sexist or racist thing, they get called out and they eventually apologize. Sometimes they are sincere and sometimes they're just catering to the masses to get the media and fans to stop harping on them. When you think of people like Mel Gibson and Michael Richards, they apologized. But do you really believe them? I don't think those people actually learned a lesson.

Did MCR learn a lesson? Definitely not. Frank Iero using the N word in Twitter, then telling people they were "imbeciles" when they told him that wasn't cool. Gerard saying vile and violent things to and about women on his Twitter and then getting his fan sheep to harass those women, with gender based slurs. And the gender based slurs he used to degrade women on Twitter and on stage. Frank Iero's abortion jokes. Ray Toro saying that women shouldn't be allowed to use public toilets. The list goes on.

These comments were never addressed. MCR breaks up and leaves this as their legacy to those of us who know better. They were never forced to apologize, because, I think, they were never famous enough in the media to garner a huge outcry.

And don't forget... MSI is still out there, spewing racist lyrics (and telling people it's okay for white people to do that, because it's "satire"), homophobic lyrics, and violently misogynistic lyrics, making jokes about sexual abuse of children... The two bands are exactly the same.

Yes, I am glad that MCR broke up, but they never apologized for their racism and misogyny. And they are still, sadly, the same exact racist, sexist people they were before they broke up.

BUT... at least they did break up! So go out and celebrate.  :-)

With that out of the way I want to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous spring season, or whatever season it is where you live.

As a Colorado resident I am saddened that guns are more important than the innocent lives of its citizens. More proof that the NRA owns this country.

Anonymous said...

Did you read the article. The NRA had little to the recall. It was a well organized grass roots movement thats purpose was to remind politicians that the people still have the power. The power to hire their representatives and the power to fire those representatives who support laws that don't reflect the ideology of the majority of their constituents.

It's a perfect example of democracy at work.

"The recall battle drew more than $3.5 million in campaign contributions. But the vast majority of the funds - nearly $3 million - came from opponents of the recall drive who support stricter gun control, figures from the secretary of state's office showed.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who founded Mayors Against Illegal Guns, wrote a $350,000 personal check to the anti-recall campaigns. Los Angeles billionaire philanthropist Eli Broad kicked in another $250,000 to stave off the recalls.

After claiming victory late on Tuesday, Herpin said the push to derail the recall had "backfired" on the gun control lobby.

"In Colorado, we don't need some New York billionaire telling us what size soft drinks we can have, how much salt to put on our food, or the size of the ammunition magazines on our guns," he said.

Only about $500,000 came from the pro-gun lobby, mainly $368,000 donated by the National Rifle Association, the nation's biggest pro-gun lobby, which feted Morse's ouster late on Tuesday.

"The people of Colorado Springs sent a clear message to the Senate leader that his primary job was to defend their rights and freedoms and that he is ultimately accountable to them - his constituents, and not to the dollars or social engineering agendas of anti-gun billionaires,"

"What is it about the UK underground that breeds the most innovative new sounds?"

Is the UK underground going back to the basics? To the African beats? To the sounds that inspired the Beatles? Because that's where the most innovative sounds are coming from. More natural and organic. Less synth, electro. That's getting as stale and stagnant as disco did in 1978. There's not enough Molly in the world to save it. People want something real. Not sounds created by a computer program and enhanced by the current designer drug.

I can't help but think that Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Bach, Ives, Strauss, Gershwin, WC Handy, Louis Jordan, Duke Ellington, Count Bassie, Muddy Waters, Son House, John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Lennon, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Ritchie Valens, Jimmie Rodgers, JP Richardson, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash are all rolling over in their graves thinking about what passes for music today. You don't have to be born with natural talent. You don't have to learn to play an instrument. You don't have to write music and lyrics from your heart. You don't have to spend years and years developing your talent and perfecting your skills. No. Just spend a few weeks learning to work a computer program and practicing your lipsynching.

Why spend years learning to play actual instruments or developing your vocal skills when you can learn to use garage band to manipulate sounds and other people's music in just a matter of weeks?
Let's not forget auto tune.

Apollo and Orpheus must be furious.

I called back yesterday to ask the office to fax his chart to the office manager, to fax it to my provider.THey said they would, and that they would call me back. I asked if I could make the appointment beforethe approval, since it's kind of age-sensitive. (Treatment changes drastically at 6 months old! He'll be 6 months old next month!) They said no, I can't schedule until it goes through.

Then they never called me back! Now it's the weekend and I have to wait until Monday.

K, your health service is baffling. It sounds like no-one works in conjunction with anyone else and the service doesn't flow like it should.

I really hope you get it all sorted soon.

The answer is e)

Anonymous said...

Kapunua I wanted to tell you before that person so rudely interjected, is that I watched Don Jon and really enjoyed it.

Thanks for recommending it :)

kapunua said...

Hey guys! Unfortunately I missed Don Jon in theaters because I just didn't have the time. It comes out on DVD at the end of next month, so I don't have long to wait. I've heard it was awesome and I know what Joe is getting at with the film. To me it sounds fantastic. :D I wish I'd gotten to see it in theaters, but it's hard for me to get out at night, LOL.

But two weeks ago, my Mom had a day off and I asked if she could sit with Callum for a few hours and give him his bath, because--get this--Taking Back Sunday was playing a show a half an hour away from my house! I was nervous as hell because I haven't been away from Callum for more than the time it takes me to go go work, and never at night. But it all turned out well!

The show was amazing, and I got to talk to Adam Lazzara. His wife just had a baby, so naturally all we talked about was babies, LOL. Those of you who've known me for a few years know that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Adam. I'm so glad I got to meet him, and I got a pic with him, too! He is so sweet.

A week after that, I got Callum in for his x rays. I had to hold him down for them. :( It sucked. And worse, the x rays were inconclusive. One view looked perfect, but the other one showed a discrepancy in the angle of his right hip.

The doctor said that it might be nothing, or that even if his hip was out, it might start to grow correctly over the next few months. We have to go back in July (JULY! WHAT! That's because the Dr is going away for two months in the summer!) to redo the x rays. If the discrepancy is still there, he wants to inject dye for another x ray and then possibly do surgery if it's definitely dysplasia.

This all sounds horrible to me and I really have to think about if I want to do that right away, or if I want a second opinion.

But that will be in July and hopefully it won't even come to that. In the meantime, I'm going to keep taking him for chiropractic adjustments, because that can really help with all of the joints.

Ugh it's so scary. I know it could be worse, and so I'm thankful that it's just a structural thing and hopefully this will be the worst of it.

Anyway - thanks, everyone! It's nice to pop in here and see familiar names. :D Hope you're all doing real well.

It's the holiday season! I hope everyone has a great one!

So happy for you K, that must have been brilliant.

If I were you K, I'd want a second opinion as far as Callum is concerned, you can never be too careful and I'd want to know for sure. Fingers crossed it's not so bad and will right itself soon enough. I'll keep hoping that for you both.
