Trolls are all mad now because they got told. Look at the infant trying to stir the pot by referencing Hitler. Oldest wank in the book.

CRY MOAR, trolls.

Them MCR jew loving trolls must be eradicated from this blog. They do not share our beliefs. They do not hate as we hate.

Eradicate. Heil Hitler!

Wow, comparing getting your spam deleted on a blog to the holocaust. So obviously a supporter of MSIMCR.

Anonymous said...

What's so sad it that you're right 9:18. That's exactly what has happened here and what's worse is that the regs support it.

Anonymous said...

Proving again that MCRMSI's rampant racism has rubbed off on their young fanbase. Very sad.

Anonymous said...

No. What's worse is that they don't get it. That's the really sad thing.

Anonymous said...

Yes, because the spanking you received for your trolling and flooding a blog equals the devastation of the Holocaust.

Go alert the media, anon. Seriously, go spread the word about how oppressed you are because your spam posts got deleted on a blog. Go and put up signs at sites of mass graves. See how far that gets you.

Get rid of them. Erase what they say. It's my way or no way. Have no compassion for them. Don't even try to understand what they're beliefs are or where they're coming from. They are less than us because they feel and believe differently.

Pardon the interruption but did someone really waste their time creating a spam filter for blogger? Are you serious? That's one of the saddest things I've ever heard. The only sadder thing I can think of right now is someone actually taking the time to insert the spam filter on their blog.

They're beliefs? I'm usually not caring about grammatical mistakes, but when you're getting all ranty, it's kind of annoying.

Anonymous said...

Sorry asshole, but all bloggers come with a spam filter now whether you ask them to or not. Try again.

Anonymous said...

And obviously, blogs like this one, that speak out against racism, need a spam filter, because of the fact that your troll ass can't stand to be called out and all you can think of to do in retaliation is flood the blog.

I used to really believe that GW was a decent person underneath it all. Now, through him, he has shown my perception of him was completely inaccurate. Instead I see someone whose ego is inflated and out of control. I don't think he is capable of caring about anyone apart from people that stroke his ego or contribute in some way to his popular image.

I cannot believe someone actually typed this, and that someone else agreed with them. Blind arrogance can be grown out of, one hopes. But ignorance must be educated. Of all the comments, vulgar Hitler references and stupidity by "trolls," seeing people unwilling to broaden someone else's mind, truly disturbs me. The only way to save a person from their own imposed ignorance is to show them there are other avenues of thinking availabe to them. There are more facts. Things are not black and white. I realize the spamming is irritating as hell, but to blanket reply with all ignorant people aren't worth it, is taking it way too far. I don't repsect anyone who gives up just like the ignorant do. You sound intelligent 9:25PM, I really don't understand how you could think such a thing. Do you really think there are more aware people in the world, than ignorant? What if everyone gave up on them as you suggest? What kind of world would we have then?

Anonymous said...

People tried to educate Frank about his racism and got attacked by the MCRmy...

There's nothing comparable to a bond built upon mutual hate. So touching.

You should say that to MCR/MSI, they are a perfect example.

Anonymous said...

It is censorship and more proof of the hypocrisy of this blog. Way to go with that censorship VV.

You Mayo people have to be some of the most narrow-minded hypocritical people I have ever read on a social site.

Anonymous said...

Why it is always assumed a negative anon is from Mayo's? Not all of the people there behaved atrociously. Not all MCR fan's behave poorly or concern themselves with the opposing opinions of others either. Your assumptions are just as narrow-minded and hypocritical as the fool you were replying too.

Anonymous said...

Stop sticking your head in a bucket 4:24, I know that not everyone from Mayo's was bad and that not all MCR fans are ridiculous though I'm quite certain that the ones attacking the bloggers here, were just as intolerant and trouble-making at Mayo's.

Anonymous said...

^ For the most part they are though, in my experience. There's what, 3 people left at Mayos and they were some of the worst. And since that seems to be a spam blog now, it makes sense.

As far as MCR fans go, you can't even call Frank Iero out on his racism and sexism without them calling an army down for you. Their "out for blood" mentality is in fact what they are known for and they seem proud of that fact. What else are we supposed to think?

Anonymous said...

Their fans didn't used to be like that.

Anonymous said...

What happened to them?

Anonymous said...

What exactly are you trying to say with your spamming, Troll? Are you going to sit there and say that ridiculous repetitive phrases designed to fill up a post and detract from the actual content should be allowed? And you're going to compare the deletion of such spam to Hitler?

Godwin's Law, I suppose, but I have to admit, I've never seen it invoked in such a ridiculous and frivolous way. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Anonymous said...

I just saw picture of Tom Hardy as Bane from TDKR. Is he going to have to cover his face with that awful mask for the entire film? :(

Oh well. I'm sure he'll be amazing in it anyways. He was amazing (the only thing that was) in that awful Star Trek movie and he was unrecognizable in it. And at least will get a good look when Warrior comes out next month. And then there's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy in November. And Mad Max whenever it comes out. :D

Lol, try going to any MCR fansite and spamming it with "Delete this site" b.s. and see how "Hitler" they'll go on your ass. You'd get banned and probably get a bunch of hate mail and death threats.

I agree, but I don't think those women find happiness. Men like that want a trophy wife -- usually someone they can control. I've known plenty of independent women who have lost their identity after marrying a more successful man. But I do think attitudes are changing. I see it in the younger generation of (educated) girls, including my daughter and her friends.

In fact, what I see the most of is girls getting educated while many of the boys are not. So many of my friends' sons are either not going to college (university for those in the UK) or they're just getting a two year degree, while nearly all of their daughters (including mine) are pursuing professions requiring at least a Bachelor's degree or higher. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next 20 years.

Anonymous said...

Nikki Sixx liked strippers. He married one. He did apologize for ½ of his life. It's all in the Heroin Diaries.

Anonymous said...

Men like that want a trophy wife -- usually someone they can control.

I think they are more likely to want someone that makes them look good and adds to their image.

Anonymous said...

I think they are more likely to want someone that makes them look good and adds to their image.

Yes, but that also includes being able to control their wives. After all, a woman only makes them look good so long as she behaves in a way that suits his image. She becomes an extension of him. Not something I would want, either for myself or my daughter.

Anonymous said...

I think we'll see more and more single mothers by choice in the western world over the next 20 years. Women who work, support themselves and provide a good life for themselves and their children.

I don't think that's necessarily a good thing for the children. I think family is very important and eventually Eastern ideas of family and community will return. What is a good thing is the changing face of what makes a family.

Anonymous said...

Yes, but that also includes being able to control their wives.

The wife would be ½ at fault for that. Would you allow a man to control you? To tell you how to dress, speak or behave? I know I wouldn't. J Lo wasn't having any of that bs either.

Anonymous said...

We have to get rid of the notion of the patriarchal family structure, with the father seen as the "head of the household", otherwise more and more women are going to say no to marriage. Quite frankly, I would rather raise my children in a family with only a mother than in a two-parent household where the father is a dictator. I live in the Bible Belt, and I see that type of family structure all of the time. I think it does more harm than good.

Anonymous said...

The wife would be ½ at fault for that. Would you allow a man to control you? To tell you how to dress, speak or behave?

I agree. In fact I'd go so far as to say the wife is 100% at fault. You have to be willing to be controlled -- although I do think many women have been conditioned to think this is normal.

Anonymous said...

No family should be treated as a dictatorship. Whether it's the father or mother as dictator. The problem with going it alone is that it robs the children of so much. Children do need structure and socialization. Whether it's blood family or a created family in the community. The more people in their lives the more they will learn. About sharing and about not being a dictator when they grow up.

Anonymous said...

I think children are happier in single parent households than they are in two parent households where there is fighting and misery because two people who basically hate one another are "staying together for the children". I grew up in a house like that and it sucks.

I don't think any one type of family is optimal. Kids need love, support, food, and a roof over their heads. If they get that from one parent or two, or even from two same sex parents, they'll be fine.

Most of the problems in single parent households come when the single mom (or father) doesn't have enough income or familial support. As long as there is enough money and extended family members or friends to help out, kids get what they need.

You're gonna "see" one on this blog within the next 3 or so years at least: me. I already know I don't want to get married. I like (and like to date) too many different guys to settle down with one. And I don't like to share my living space with another adult. I've done it before and it always just starts to bother me. Who gets what, whose stuff goes where. I'm trying to write, the other person wants the TV on. And legally, I don't want to give up that much of my legal rights to another person. I guess that comes down to trust, as well. Also, I get tired of people really easily.

However, I think I could give a lot to a child, someday (when I'm more financially and emotionally stable.) I think my values are fairly decent and forward-thinking, but I don't feel a need to "shape" or "mold" another person into my image.

So I'll probably be a single mother by choice. Like Cuddy on House, you know. :) Except without a sociopathic boyfriend.

With that said, I don't think anyone can say "Oh, a single parent family is always better" or "a two-parent family is better." It depends on the situation of the family. I've known miserable, violent, hateful two-parent families with messed up kids. I know one family where the father is a felon and is literally teaching his oldest son how to follow in his footsteps. He's abusive to his wife and is teaching the boys how to disrespect their mother, and all women in general.

I know a two-parent family where the mom wanted nothing to do with her two children.

And yet I was raised in a two-parent household and both my parents had equal share in raising me. They were happy, I was happy, there was no fighting, no abuse, no disrespect.

So you can't say "it only works this way" or "it only works that way." Every situation is different.

kapunua said...

This is victim blaming. Society tells us, tacitly and sometimes straight up out loud, that we're supposed to pipe down and accept our fates. Speak out against any abusive situation and you lose out, big time. I'm a good example of that myself. I didn't let it stop me from continuing to open my big mouth, because I realize that if I had, then everyone in that situation would have won.

But it's a struggle, every day. And yeah, some women get into situations that they can't control. Patriarchy is very strong, it's so ingrained in us, in all of us. It's going to take ages to erode that way of thinking. In the meantime, a lot of women are in situations that they can't get out of and they're just treading water.

Blaming them for being abused (in any way) only adds to the problem, piles on more guilt, more failure. Not only that, but it strips responsibility from their abusers. This borders on "she was asking for it."

Anonymous said...

Many of the women I know here in the (not so) good ol' Bible Belt have been taught since birth that they should submit to their husbands. It's not fair to blame them for that. How are they supposed to fight their families, their communities and their church? They are victims from the day they are born.

We as women still have so far to go, which is why I get so angry at the idiots who think being a feminist is as simple as wearing whatever they want and using their sexuality to get what they want. Same for an idiot who thinks being a feminist is pretending to play bass in a short skirt. That kind of thinking is doing very little for the truly oppressed women of the world.

Anonymous said...

^It's kind of like saying "I've got mine, so I don't care about the rest of you." But then what do you expect from a woman who is so flippant about something as tragic as the earthquakes in Japan.

How Much Did It Cost Kings Of Leon to Cancel Their Tour?
By Staff
Aug 3, 2011
Kings of Leon's canceled US tour could cost up to $15 million.

The band pulled out of 29 scheduled dates in North America earlier this week citing exhaustion and voice problems on the part of lead singer Caleb Followill, which could lead to their insurers, Lloyds of London, landing a bill running into tens of millions as promoters and concert venues claim for lost revenues.

http://www.nationalledger.com/pop-culture-news/

Anonymous said...

MCR can only dream of running up a bill that high.

BTW, KOL are the biggest rock band around. Get with the program.

Anonymous said...

They would've been bigger in America if they were playing the tour.

Anonymous said...

Rolling Stone is estimating the insurance payout at $15 million.

I had tickets to two of the canceled shows. I'm disappointed, but ultimately I only want Caleb to get his drinking issues sorted out. He has been looking haggard the past couple of years. I saw them last year, and although the live show was flawless, Caleb was doing shots and talking about getting drunk the whole time.

There are lots of reports going around that Amy Winehouse could have died because she tried to quit drinking cold turkey. I think it's often a misconception that alcohol isn't just as dangerous as drugs.

Anonymous said...

I think if my chem were in their situation, they wouldn't have backed out. Gerard still goes for it even when his voice gets the best of him.

Anonymous said...

I agree, but I've seen both bands live, and there really is no comparison.

KOL's live shows are spot-on. Caleb has a fit even if the sound system isn't working perfectly. They're always chatting with the sound techs and each other in between songs about what needs to be turned up or tweaked or whatever.

Also, Caleb's voice is nearly always pitch-perfect. I can't see him being satisfied with anything less.

Anonymous said...

Caleb can actually sing. Gerard just sounds awful live, and everyone knows it.

True that.

Drunk or sober, sick or totally fit -- Gerard always sounds like shit.

Anonymous said...

One of KoL's biggest virtues is going to be their costliest problem with canceling this tour. Their honesty. I wouldn't change for the world or for 15 million.

Anonymous said...

^ change their honesty

Anonymous said...

I don't know. Isn't this the kind of thing that just makes a band bigger? That turns them into legend? KOL has always had that kind of thing going on in the UK, where fans knew about their history of drug abuse and infighting. With their documentary coming out on Showtime and Caleb marrying a Victoria's Secret Angel, all they need is a big news story about how a scrapped concert cost them 15 million dollars. If Caleb comes out with a big rehab story to go along with the next album I can see them making a bundle off it.

Anonymous said...

This it true but even in Gerard's drunkest and highest of times, I don't think he and the band would ever dream of canceling a tour like that and in another country too ? Any who, That would have been one hell of a tour!

I'm not really here to take sides on bands... Just saying something.

Anonymous said...

I agree with the bit about them being honest. They have never been anything less than brutally honest about who they are, warts and all. I also respect the fact that they don't want to give fas sub-par shows. They'd rather cancel and deal with the losses than play MCR-level crappy shows. Good for them.

I can't speak for 12:10, but I've been to tons of rock concerts. Some drunk and sloppy (MCR circa 2004 Warped comes to mind). A lot of bands do play while intoxicated, but there's a point where the music just goes to shit. KOL never disappointed me once, and I've seen them 5 times. Judging by the videos of the Dallas show, however, Caleb was crossing that line and I applaud the band for acknowledging that. It sucks for fans who were disappointed, but the guy obviously needs help. I hope his getting it.

that the lead singer would totally suck and the band blew hot ass air... just utterly disappointing waste of time and money. My life was awful. When I was a kid, I was fat, pretty ugly and had awful hair. I used to get teased every fucking day. Slammed up against lockers, punched in the face - you name it. Hell, I had to go to prom with one of my female friends because I couldnt even get a proper date. I cant even look back at those photos because I look so bad. I transfered schools, but the teasing just got worse. After a, lets say, “incident” I had with the school play, the bullying just got worse. But I made it through high school, only to find out that real life was pretty much the same. I just stayed in my dark room all day. I didnt talk to anyone, I didnt go outside. I just stayed inside and drew. I’d draw vampires, mummies, hereoes, villians. Anything to help me escape all the bad in the world. I went to art school and didnt really belong. All I could draw was comic book characters. I tried to put my only good talent to use, by drawing a cartoon and pitching it - only to have it turned down. Life to me was just pointless. I started drinking, doing drugs and just generally wasting my life drawing. Then one day, I saw bodies falling from the sky. I witnessed people dying. And thats when I decided to turn my life around. I called up anyone I knew who had an instrument and we formed a band. Being on tour for the first few years was bad. All we’d do is get drunk and do drugs, but I loved it. Because I was doing something I loved with people I loved. And a few years ago I met the most perfect woman ever. It’s like we share a wavelink or something. She just knows me, without even knowing me if you understand. And now, 2011. I have a beautiful baby girl, a caring wife and I get to perform for all my adoring fans every day. I am living proof that no matter how bad life gets, it gets better. I am Gerard Way, and I survived.

And so he turns around and bullies other people. Well done, asshead.

James McAvoy anons: Please tell me what else I should watch with him in it. I am intrigued. ^_^

Anonymous said...

Wait, I thought he said he wasn't teased/bullied... that he was "ignored" wha? why you changing the story bro?

Anonymous said...

LMAO.

How many times is Gerard going to change his story?

I thought he was mostly 'ignored' but not bullied? But then by the time he was in high school, he was considered 'pretty cool' because of the stuff he was into?

He's so full of shit. My God.

Anonymous said...

James McAvoy is amazing in The Last Station. He's also good in Becoming Jane, although I didn't love Anne Hathaway in that movie.

If you haven't seen X-Men First Class, I recommend it as well.

Oh, and if you can find it, Children of Dune. :)

Where on earth is that quote from? It sounds like it was written by some 15 year old. Did Gerard actually write it or is it just some internet meme?

Anonymous said...

Okay, so wait. Gerard decided to turn his life around by forming a band, going out on tour and doing drugs all the time?

Notice how he never says anything about not doing drugs anymore either.

Anonymous said...

I don't think Gerard Way wrote that. The person that wrote it sounds kind of stupid and is not that good of a writer. I think it was a fan. Gerard would never say he loved getting drunk and doing drugs. Someone is trying to fool us.

Anonymous said...

that quote is false. It was written by a 13 year old fan who wanted to help the amazing story of her lord and saviour spread more easily among the the teenies. It's on tumblr, you just have to look past the horde of gullible rebloggers.

So. Anybody here seen Cowboys and Aliens? I liked it, but was a little disappointed. Why do aliens always look the same? It's like Hollywood is stuck in a rut. As much as I loved that Alien, it was made 30 years ago. It's time aliens got a makeover.

Anonymous said...

Last time I checked, Gerard Way isn't a very good writer either.

Anonymous said...

GW may have caught the stupidity bug since being soldered to the hips of his foul mouthed chums, but I really don't believe he wrote that "inspiring" piece. Someone very young and idealistic wrote it imo.

Anonymous said...

He didn't ... I don't know why someone would lie like that for him... for what , pity ? He says a lot of strange shit these days too and believe it or not , they hurt

If you really want to read some funny shit, go read MCR fanfic. Or go onto MCR fans' tumblrs. It will either make you laugh or make you cry.

Anonymous said...

I've had the misfortune of reading MCR and other band fanfics. Fantasy is one thing. Creating a fake active dating or sex life in your own mind is another thing. But really these fanfics go too far.

I can't imagine what possesses fans to think that any of that shit is hot. Bert M fucking GW. GW fucking Frank. Jared Leto fucking everybody. The sickest of all is the incest, the male on male rape and the fans who think that is hot. Sick. Fucking. Shit.

Anonymous said...

What's worse are the ones who fantasize about animated characters. That really is worse than real person fanfic. What the fuck kind of person writes sexual fantasies about Mickey Mouse, Donald or Daisy Duck? The world has reached a whole new level of depravity when animated characters are fantasized about as much or more than real life, human rock stars or movie stars.

Fantasies about Marilyn Monroe I can understand.
Fantasies about Minnie Mouse I cannot understand.

Anonymous said...

The sad fact is that most of these fanfic writers have little to no real life sexual experience. They're simply writing about how they imagine sex to be. They've watched far too many movies or read too many historical romances or comics and they've romanticized rape. They don't have a clue as to what healthy sex is much less romantic sex.

If you're thinking about going for a more natural look, let's be serious. U'r way too ugly to pull that off.

My younger cousin has read dozens of Frank/Gerard fics and she usually shoves the really sexual ones in my face.
I've refused countless times but hey, she's blood. So I read a paragraph from the fic. It starts out ok.

Gerard gets bullied by the high school jock (Frank) Then boom! SEX TIME in the lockers! I read it last year and I'm still traumatized...

I hate RPF. I'm very much Your Kink Is Not My Kink and to each their own kink or whatever. If certain fantasies are what get you going, good for you. As long as you're not acting anything out without the consent of an adult partner - in other words as long as you're not hurting anyone. If someone has a thing for a cartoon, whatever. (Hey, SEPHIROTH WAS HOT.) If someone has a thing for dressing up like animals and doing their thing, and they find other people who are into that - cool for them. I don't have to share everyone's kink in order to not judge them.

I do draw a line where children are sexualized, where there's no consent, and where real people are sexualized without their consent. And that's also why I dislike RPF. God, what if someone's family reads that? I think this is where consent issues get hazy and weird. You can't hurt or shame a fictional character, but with real people and when it's all over the internet - ugh.

Anonymous said...

What I don't understand is how some of these people go watch them perform on stage, sometimes even have the chance to meet them and talk to them, then go home and write their homoerotic fanfic. Crazy.

Anonymous said...

I can't imagine what it's like to know that people are writing fic about you having sex with a sibling. Or even with a bandmate who you travel with and share a stage with every night.

MCR fans come here and berate us for being "haters", but I think posting stories treating these guys as vehicles for the fans' sexual fantasies is much, much worse.

Anonymous said...

You have to wonder why no alarm bells ring in their heads when they write incestuous fics and why there appears no forms of moral boundaries. It's almost like these girls not connect to them as people and see them as almost animalistic, because they write about them reacting to any urge and acting on it. Mind you, these are also the types of people that find the lyrics of Panty Shot "ironic" and they can't even articulate why.

Anonymous said...

I was force fed a Frank/Gerard/Lindsey... I'm the one whose traumatized.

You've gotta be kidding right? Do the bulk of you against fanfic not realize that romance novels are generally the very same concept? There are a ton of world class novelists through time that have written incest into their plots. Does no one assume at least some of their characters were based on real living people? I agree the fanfic goes well beyond sane sometimes, but it's not a new trend in writing. Nor is homoeroticism. Has no one here ever read a brilliant LGBT novel? It's starting to sound rather prejudice in here. Very disturbing guys. And wasn't having a right to your own opinion (or lifestyle, or hobbies) supposed to be part of the glam of this blog? I've got an incredible LGBT novel to recomend, it's a short teen novel so it won't take too much effort. Boy Meets Boy, by David Levithian. If you have issues reading gay-anything, perhaps it will reach inside you and remind you every person deserves love. (If you tend to feel otherwise, I'm sure there is an MSI-fansite out there somewhere for you.) Hate on MCR or some of their more creepy fans all you want, but some forms of literature written by ordinary people are worth it. The internet is the only free (in general) place left for people to express themselves. Fanfic doesn't always deserve to be degraded into 'trash porn.'

Anyone in the spotlight is going to be viewed as a vehicle for sexual fantises. This would be part of fame, and how those who are famous wield it to their best interest. May be sad, inappropriate and a slue of other things, but it's a simple fact. The basics of our society. As far as rockstars, actors or anyone else considered a part of that group, they not only knew what they were getting into (or had some idea of it), they wanted it when they first began. Again, fame. I don't feel very sorry for them. They did everything in their power to become the idolized. Fanfic or franatic fans would be part of the cost of that fame.

Anonymous said...

Nobody here is putting down novels about fictional characters, and what the hell gave you the idea that we are against LGBT characters?

MCR fanfic is about real people. Not made up characters. There's a huge difference.

Don't be an idiot. Did I not just say that the line is drawn (for me) at real people because of the lack of their consent? What part of that is difficult for you to grasp? Was it the whole "words put together into sentences" thing that got you confused?

And by the way, my slash collection is pretty immense, not even gonna lie. It's just that mine isn't hurting anyone or using them publicly without their consent.

Does anybody here get Kerrang Magazine? I heard that Frank Iero came in at #5 on their list of the 50 greatest rockstars in the world today. Flea came in at #40. Lars Ulrich is #3, Oli Sykes #2 and Jason Aalon Butler of Letlive is #1.

I'm curious to know what the rest of their list looks like.

kapunua said...

That's so ridiculous when Frank knows all of maybe 5 chords ffs. Even when I liked MCR, I could admit to that.

My comment wasn't directed at you Kapunua. I did read your comment and grasped that you have no problem with certain works of fiction. I also know that you have written stories (not RPF, obviously) yourself. I don't understand why you are attacking me, like I was insulting you personally? I did say 'to the bulk of you against fanfic,' this would have excluded you, Kapunua.

I was refering to the comments speaking negatively about FI/GW (i.e. TWO MEN) being written about in general. I was also the anon at 6:28. I assumed my opinion was more clear. I apologize for that. I don't have a problem with tasteful fanfiction/RPF, nor do I pity people who willingly put themselves in a postion to be fantisized about or written about, i.e. those in the spotlight. I feel it goes with the territory of being famous and they all know and count on this, wether for the deration of their careers or for a quick jump-start, or comeback. Some of the previous comments (for example 2:45PM) semed to me to be speaking negatively on homoerotic fiction in general. I apologize if I read that wrong. I have encountered too many people who speak (and think) narrowmindedly to not simply expect it now.

There was no need to get insulting. I admit my first sentence was pissy, but I find I get that way when I feel people are being archaic to others who are already a popular target. To be clear, I am referring to the LGBT community, their art included, in general. Not "Ferard." I merely used them as an example to make a point, which I felt was fitting. I didn't call anyone an idiot or mock them to the extent 6:30PM did. However, I did insult MSI fans. Will that be counted against me here, in regard to the apparent all encompassing negativity and assult of my comments, as well? I was just trying to be part of a conversation that struck me as important. I was also defending people who share their work online as well; that part of my comments would actually include you, Kapunua. The comments in response are kind of stunning. I'm not a 'troll,' a 'hater,' or an obsessive fan. I just haven't chatted here in a long while. Apparently I missed the memo that the tide has changed here. And people can no longer jump into a conversation, have an opposing opinion, without getting their ass chewed. This is ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

Kapunua, I didn't know you were around. You commented while I was typing my comment. I'm not trying to start a war or get a rise out of you, I'm merely defending my own opinion. I wouldn't have commented while you were here, for I feel that seems to be felt like an attempt to start shit. I would just like that clear. I did not refresh before I published. Good night to you, and anyone else around.

They did everything in their power to become the idolized.

That is a ridiculous statement. Do you really believe that everyone who goes into the business of entertainment does it to be idolized? Do you really think that all actors, actresses, musicians, dancers, new anchors, even politicians shouldn't expect that some boundaries be respected regardless of their chosen jobs?

Why should they be penalized for using their talents?

Anonymous said...

They shouldn't be penalized for using their talent's. That -is- ridiculous. I never said that.

But how do you think a person, namely rockstars or actors, achieve their success via their talents? They sell their talent. They're not just sharing it with the world for free. They rely on the willingness of support from FANS, to succeed. (Fan: 1. an ardent admirer.) To expect every fan to be respectful, aware of proper bounderies, maintain self-control, etc, would be to also expect every possible person on the planet to want and be able to do the same to every other possible person on the planet. It's just logic that some people will cross the line. And it is just logic to expect people to want to cross the line when you are doing your best to sell your(self) talents to them. I didn't say it was right or acceptable. I don't think it is right or acceptable. I said it was sad. But it is also disgusting.

I do however, think it's ridiculous to expect the very best in people, when you are in such a public postion (and in most cases, but not all, are impressing upon them the desire to support you in every possible venture.) I do also think it's ridiculous to be surprised by how far, or how willing people will be to get or expect what they want from people in a public position. Fame has reached a newer level of ugly over the last two decades. If you have ever seen 'reality tv' that level of disgusting and willingness should be very clear.

And please don't put words into my mouth, so to speak. I am heading off now. If I don't reply, it's not to be rude or for lack of how to reply. Goodnight.

That doesn't mean they should be expected to give up the rights to basic human consideration and respect. No more than your local attractive bank teller or avon lady should.

You are trying to rationalize the sexploitation of celebrities. You talk as if they ask for these sick fanfics to be written about them. They don't. Not any more than you do.

Anonymous said...

When celebrities pose for Playgirl, Playboy, Hustler, other nudie or S&M mags then they are giving their consent to being sexualized any way you wish to sexualize them. They know what those mags are used for. Fantasy enhancement.

As far as I know no member of MCR or any of their wives has posed nude for any mag.

So if you package yourself in this tantalizing and seductive image in order to sell your "talent", you believe that everyone will conduct themselves in a reasonable way and respect boundaries in accordance to your expectations.

I was refering to the comments speaking negatively about FI/GW (i.e. TWO MEN) being written about in general.

Except that if you go back and read the comments, nobody said anything "in general" about two men being written about. They were specifically talking about RPF fanfic (and this includes FI/GW). Not to mention the fact that Gerard has stated numerous times that he is straight (whether you believe that or not), and both he and Frank are married, so why would people write the two of them together in a homosexual relationship? I feel this is an invasion of their privacy and that it's wrong. I also feel the same about any pairing off of real people, no matter the sex of those involved. So this is not about LGBT fiction. It's about RPF fiction.

Anonymous said...

^No matter the sex or sexual orientation of the people involved.

I saw that trailer last night, 1:59 and I am so excited! What a cast. There is no way that film is going to be anything but amazing.

Anonymous said...

Using their talent's what?

Anonymous said...

Every RPF author clearly states, before anything else, that nothing about the story is true, and that they are not writing for profit, not even fame.

No one but the band's close circle of friends and family actually knows who the fuck they really are; therefore all fanfiction is merely based on their public images, assumptions, stage gay fan service and probably a whole lot of bullshit they come up with during interviews.

When you put out that much of a persona, can you really consider fanfiction as being disrespectful? They're as good as fictional characters, and the fanfiction relies on that. It's not the real people they're writing about. They simply couldn't.

So everyone involved is not delusional, no one is making any money out of it, and as long as the band don't get confronted with the stories there's no reason for anyone to be offended or put in an awkward situation.

The problem is when that confrontation does happen, which is becoming more often, as the younger fans lack that clear sense of boundaries which most fanfic authors have.

Also there was a comparison to female celebrities posing in Playboy and using their sexualized image for fantasy and shit. What do you think the stage gay and cuddling in photoshoots is?

Anonymous said...

When you put out that much of a persona, can you really consider fanfiction as being disrespectful?

Duh How could writing RPF involving incest not be disrespectful? For anybody, wanky rockstar or not.

Anonymous said...

There were comparisons to Playboy and Playgirl. I don't think that stage gay is the same as taking your clothes off for magazines built on sexual fantasies.

Anonymous said...

It sounds to me like RPF fans are grasping at straws to try and justify their questionable hobby. I suppose whatever makes you feel better, but I know I couldn't get into it, no matter how I tried to justify it in my mind.

kapunua said...

RPF is always a grasp at straws to rationalize what is essentially non-consensual sexualization of another human being.

This, exactly.

And RPF-defender, you were out of line because no one said anything against the LGBT community, or against LGBT literature. You pulled that out of nowhere, for seemingly no reason, basically accusing people here of bigotry because no one wants to read about famous people starring in written pornos without their permission.

RPF seems like something you'd do to someone you disliked. I really can't stand MCR/MSI so I DGAF if someone kicks them in the pants or makes them look stupid (they do a good enough job on their own anyway.) But to defend it by saying you're doing it because you like someone (which is what most RPF writers do,) is just dumb.

Next time though, think a little before you go accusing people of bigotry without any basis for it.

Yes it is creepy, though I think if you are in the entertainment industry projecting certain images to sell your products you would be aware it's going to happen in some form. But the incest and other explicit forms of fic are crossing the line.
