Too bad bass guitars can't get polyps from being used wrong.

Thanks for that, anon. Made me laugh.

This was in response to Brian's tweet about how much he liked artwork.

Anonymous said...

Lol.

I can see it now. If Worm had said he liked some of The Used's music, Gerard would have stomped his foot and thrown a little bitch fit.

Oh Brother.

Anonymous said...

"If Worm had said he liked some of The Used's music, Gerard would have stomped his foot and thrown a little bitch fit."

What is he, 12?

Anonymous said...

it's actually kind of baffling to imagine him being upset by that. it's just like the fangirls, they can't have someone hate mcr or like a band that mcr hates.

Anonymous said...

It's rather mind-boggling that a grown man in his thirties could be so ridiculously immature.

Anonymous said...

I would like to know how much time Gerard really spends on the internet looking at what fans and critics say about him. Given the band's current actions he might not, but someone as narcissistic as him most likely does.

Anonymous said...

Same with the Marilyn Manson dissing MCR thing. I think some people felt the need to take sides. I liked both of the bands at that point so I didn't really think much on it.

Anonymous said...

Brian just made a tweet that made me wonder if he knows something about what's going on.

Anonymous said...

I get the impression it's finished. The lawyers are probably sorting through things before anything can be formally announced.

Anonymous said...

is this the said tweet, 2.54?

Have you gotten your arks built? I hear there's a storm a comin. Heavy rains. Thunder. Lightning. And broken hearts and souls.

Anonymous said...

^ sorry, i mean 9.54.

Anonymous said...

That's the one! The last time he used that ark metaphor was when someone made a comment about his lack of success in the music business. He said 'I built my ark before the storm' or something. It made me think he meant he got out before the shit hit the fan with MCR.

Anonymous said...

we've built our arks long time ago, brian.

Anonymous said...

Hope he's not talking about a sex tape.

Anonymous said...

I dont think the members of the band are assholes to begin with, maybe the fame and money changed them.

Anonymous said...

whoa, 10.47!

Anonymous said...

Not everyone changes. Those people probably have more sensible people around them or are more prepared to listen to the ones that ground them.

Anonymous said...

Even though I'm still a fan, i follow this blog religiously in hope that they'll change to be better but instead of doing that, they keep on throwing their shits into our face.

I'm tired of keeping the faith in them. we fans have given them too many chance but they still find it funny to fuck with us. mcr has to know that even the die-hardest of fan has his/her limit.

mcr can go fuck themselves now. and at this point i dont care if bob left, in fact i think it'll be better if all of them just go fucking disbanded!

Anonymous said...

I hope Ray will go on to greater things when/if the band breaks up.

Anonymous said...

mcr should learn from FOB. take a long hiatus (a.k.a quit) before you fall.

Anonymous said...

Is Patrick's solo stuff worth checking out btw?

Anonymous said...

It's interesting reading the comments between Brian and a few fans on his twitter. Maybe the "Ark" comment really means what we think it may do?

Anonymous said...

Wow. Reading some of the fans' twitters is kind of heartbreaking. Some of these girls are really suffering.

I swear, if none of this Bob leaving/the band breaking up business is true and Warner/Jeff Watson/MCR left those poor kids out there in the dark for no good reason, I will never buy another record from Warner again.

Anonymous said...

Lol at Dstarpro being one of the overinvested fans on Brian's twitter. Remember when she came here and gave us a piece of her mind about being 'real feminists'?

Anonymous said...

Can somebody post the link to Brian's twitter please?

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

I feel bad for dstarpro and any other fans who are worried right now. Not knowing can sometimes be worse than anything.

As much as the fangirls get on my nerves, they don't deserve to be left out in the dark.

The band's management should deny this rumor if it's not true.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, anon! I tried to find it myself but the 'find people on Twitter' feature is currently disabled due to Twitter being 'stressed out'. Thanks!

Anonymous said...

@iamjustbrian I built my ark but no one told me the storm was a blizzard.

@MCTedViaNJ that storm is not what this is. Did you get two polar bears?

Hmm...

But wouldn't it be odd if Brian would try to hint at a possible split up of MCR with that ark allegory although he recently complained about people keeping on asking him things about MCR on Twitter?

Anonymous said...

Well, if Brian doesn't talk about MCR because of some contractual thing, I can see him perhaps being cryptic about a possible break-up on his twitter.

But still, I think any fan who automatically assumes he's talking about MCR is overreacting.

Anonymous said...

I don't his tweet had anything to do with MCR. His reply to Dstarpro seemed very sarcastic.

Anonymous said...

Yes, but if he's really annoyed by people asking him things about MCR all the time via their Twitter accounts then why call attention to yourself by making such tweets if you don't want people to ask you questions about them?
He's either stupid or an attention whore just like I assumed. He could have easily said something along the lines of Whoa, people! That comment doesn't have anything to do with MCR at all. Calm down! I just meant blablabla... Did he do that? I guess not.

Or maybe it's just Schadenfreude?

Anonymous said...

Thing is, no matter how much he complains about people asking him about MCR, most of the people who follow him wouldn't even know who he is if not for his connection to MCR.

If he doesn't want the attention, maybe he should get off twitter. Only I think he does want the attention.

Anonymous said...

The crystal ball comment could be interpreted many different ways. And even if he was being sarcastic, it still isn't an outright denial.

I thought that too, anon!

Exactly! It could mean You seem to be able to foresee the future. Yes, they're going to announce that Bob left the band/they're splitting up. If he really would want to be left alone with all those questions he would be more clear about what he meant with that tweet without leaving space for interpretations.

Anonymous said...

I read it like he is denying what he knows he is implying.

Anonymous said...

I thought it was more 'oh so you think you can read my mind' kind of comment.

Anonymous said...

I read it like he is denying what he knows he is implying.

So you think that he actually means it the way we understand it but he doesn't want to admit it?

That's the way I'm reading it.

Anonymous said...

I thought it was more 'oh so you think you can read my mind' kind of comment.

That's how I read it as well. And that interpretation leaves open the possibility that dstarpro could be right or she could be wrong.

If he had said, "You need to take your crystal ball into the shop for service," not THAT would have been an outright denial.

I find it very, very odd that Anotherway has not said anything regarding this rumor. Normally, wouldn't she be all over this sort of thing?

Anonymous said...

The fact that he asked her was she was responding to makes me believe that his initial tweet had nothing to do with MCR.

Anonymous said...

I would have thought being so tight with Jeff Watson and team MCR she would know everything. Or she could and doesn't know what to say or can't.

Anonymous said...

That's what I think. The face that Anotherway hasn't leapt to their defence means it just might be true!

Anonymous said...

What makes you people think that she's really an insider i. e. knows people in the industry? Did she make announcements before the band did? Is there proof that she knows things before others? Did she talk about things which turned out to be true?

Anonymous said...

I think she's staying out of this because she doesn't know anything and she knows people will expect her to because of all her "connections". I never believed any of her shtick about being an insider in the music business.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps she's a mad obsessive who pretends to know people.

Or it could be, you know, that the entire northeast coast of America is buried under two feet of snow since last night.

People please stop trying to read too much into every little thing.

if Bob is gone, GOOD, maybe the rest of the band will go down the fuckin drain too.

But maybe just MAYBE Brian is talking about New Jersey getting feet of snow.

Anonymous said...

Kind of exaggerated for just stating that NJ is buried under two feet of snow.
That guy knows that people are lurking his Twitter for the possibility of him spilling the beans on MCR. I don't know if he knows about the Bob rumor but he surely doesn't mind getting attention by posting polysemous tweets.

the thread about bob leaving the band on INO had been locked, allowing no room for discussion.

imo, mcr fandom is like a fucking communist where no one has any right to voice their opinion.

Anonymous said...

I personally think Brian's tweet has nothing to do with MCR. He clearly doesn't give a fuck about them anymore, and if by some chance it is a hint that he's heard they're breaking up or Bob's leaving, he's probably wanting to tip the fans off so they're not so heartbroken.

IIRC, he outright said that he wasn't going to answer questions or make a comment on the band. That's usually a sign that someone's signed something saying they won't blab. Dropping hints about something potentially this massive isn't the same as 'being an attention whore'.

Every man and his dog has a twitter account, and given that Brian posts about mundane shit most of the time, I don't really think it's fair to stamp on the dude for wanting to give fans the heads up when Warner and the band seem to want to let them suffer in silence.

Anonymous said...

They most likely think that preventing freedom of speech and forbidding discussions about rumors makes them appear very reputable and full of integrity.
I guess it doesn't come to their minds that they look like the Gestapo.

Anonymous said...

I agree, 9:48. I've been reading Brian's twitter for months. He strikes me as the complete opppsite of an 'attention whore'. So he's made one comment that might or might not be about the band.

I think some people here need to stop painting everyone with which MCR have ever had contact with the same shit brush.

Anonymous said...

Well, if this really is a hint that the band's splitting up or Bob's leaving the band it doesn't sound that compassionate to me. The rain reference could mean that a lot of fansheep will be crying their eyes out and that everyone else has to build arks to not drown in their tears and survive them boo-hooing about it for days.

I know that a lot of you people like Brian and think that he's a nice guy but I just don't see it.
Let's agree to disagree.

Anonymous said...

I think Brian seems like a nice guy, but is bitter when it comes to MCR.

Anonymous said...

Siobahan, you're entitled to your own opinions about Brian, no one's trying to change your mind.

I guess we'll wait and see re; his tweet. To me, it makes no difference if it is about Bob/MCR or not. Brian's clearly still connected and has friends in the business. I can see him making reference to something he's been told, and really not overanalysing it to the degree everyone else is; it's just a bit of information that really in the scheme of things isn't that important.

Anonymous said...

10:05, lots of people here are bitter about MCR too (myself incluced), and I think Brian has as much cause as anyone else to be. I think they drove over him and didn't even look over their shoulders to see if he was okay. I'd be pissed if people I'd known and trusted for years did that, too.

Anonymous said...

does anyone noticed that big worm stops following mcr members on twitter?

Anonymous said...

Worm has never followed the MCR members. He has tweeted at them, though. Interestingly enough, he also told a fan that he will not be working with MCR from now on, despite the fact that he's still working security for other artists.

Anonymous said...

Siobahan, you're entitled to your own opinions about Brian, no one's trying to change your mind.

Thank you, anon, but I didn't have the feeling that people are trying to change my mind. I'm also not trying to change yours. It's just an exchange of opinions and assumptions.

Anonymous said...

wow, 30stm are so nice to their fans on twitter. it amazed me that a band this big, with members 100x better looking than mcr could be so down to earth.

Oh of course. I wasn't condemning him if he is, just clarifying that he seems like a nice guy regardless.

Anonymous said...

30STM are good lads. They were good to their fans in the beginning, and they still are. I think their rise to success is proof that you can have the fame and the money and the huge staduim shows and not lose touch with your core fanbase to the extent that you make them feel used. Jared is always honest with fans, and the band don't bullshit people.

Anonymous said...

I think it's odd that the fans of 30 Seconds to Mars have only good things to tell. Especially when there are a lot of stories about Jared Leto being a total jerk to people and being quite full of himself.

Anonymous said...

Worm has never followed the MCR members.

its weird that he's following their wives.

Anonymous said...

Sibohan, I don't doubt that Jared can be a douche. However, I have NEVER heard a ban story from a fan. I think he can work people out, and the ones who have the 'stories' are probably the ones who thought he was a cock to begin with.

Now Jared being a manwhore, that's a different kettle of fish altogether...

Anonymous said...

ban = bad

Anonymous said...

Jared took the time to say thank you to almost everyone who told him they've bought the ticket to their upcoming shows.

Gerard will never do that. In fact he never said a thing about upcoming shows(i.e roxy/summer sonic), except "That picture should be titled "Holy SHIT We're Awesome" when a fan send him a picture from that show.

What a prick.

Anonymous said...

He's following Lindsey and Krista thought....not Alicia. Hmmmm. I don't know if this is just, me but appart from Lindsey being more then just a little dense (and unhygieneic) the both of them have always seemed like nice people. Alicia.....not so much.

Anonymous said...

Well, if he can manage to keep his douchey side hidden when meeting with fans then he's far more professional as some other people we know.

Anonymous said...

Exactly. Jared has the money. He has the fame, and he has the respect. Gerard will never have respect, and he thinks that if he pretends like he's the coolest guy since James Dean it will somehow magically happen.

Gerard is basically just the bitter weird fat kid with a chip on his shoulder who thinks the world owes him his 'fame' and he makes himself feel better by snubbing teenagers, who are the only ones who give a shit about him.

This is what I've found on a German MCR forum:

Monday, August 10, 2009
Brian Schechter no longer MCR manager...bitter? perhaps.
According to Brian Schechter's twitter he is no longer MCR's manager and his posts seem to drip with a little venom. But hey...you be the judge here is what I found:

directed at noone:
Brian: You had nine lives and one by one you chewed em up.

Brian: Is over being a pillar and really over people leaning on said pillar

Brian: Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly

A fan: @iamjustbrian hey, if you don't mind, how did you get to be where you are? Like managing mcr? I really want to be a band manager Smile

Brian's reply: @LUXYxo well I worked really hard for a really long time. It's a thankless job. If you really want it, find agreat band and chase it

Brain at no one: I hate overachievers

A Fan: @iamjustbrian seems like a stupid question to ask but, are you still managing MCR?

Brian's reply: @kayles no ma'am

Brian at no one: Here is afact of life that is going to be contiuosly proven to me. If you give someone the chance to let you down, they will

A Fan: @iamjustbrian you should smile more, everything will be okay.

Brian's reply: @sorrows I smile all of the time. Now mire than ever.

kayles: oh wow since when? who's the new manager? - doing research for uni assignment

Brian's reply: @kayles don't know. Sorry

A fan(?): @iamjustbrian They hate you too. (sidenote: I'm going to assume she was making reference to his "I hate overachievers" post)

Brian's reply: @mariaimmortal perfect

she retorts: @iamjustbrian at least i'm honest.

Brian's reply: @mariaimmortal honest? Your name is mariaimmortal. I would say dishonest. And you definitely don't bleed red bull. Two strikes

Anonymous said...

It's a big assumption that all of those tweets were about MCR. Brian had other shit going down in his life; he had to 'break up' with the other bands he managed, some of whom were close friends, and he had to make lots of people redundant. Those tweets could have been about anyone. They might not even have been work related.

Anonymous said...

Worm said something like 'Yes, still working in the business, but as for MCR no I won't be working with them anymore'.

Worth pointing out that Worm was hired by Riot Squad, not Warner, and at the time he made that comment he was still very close friends with Brian.

Anonymous said...

I've found something interesting on that German forum. Not to say that German fans know more about an American band than American fans but maybe they said something in German interviews what they didn't mention in others.

Someone on that forum said that Gerard referred to the whole thing as mismanagement and that the endless touring with TBP was too much. They should have stopped touring right after PR.

Does that mean they blame Brian for forcing them to tour for so long?

Anonymous said...

I think a lot of the blame on their 'burnout' that I've seen in recent press is a very deliberate singling out of Brian and/or Warner. Gerard whining about having to approve the final edit of The Black Parade Is Dead! right after the MSG show, the stories about 'having to go on tour for two years straight' etc etc.

Funny how quick they forget all that hard work they had to put in to get big. Maybe they think they're too good for what all the other bands have to do, which is act professionally and actually do what you signed into with your contract.

Re: 30STM: Jared is full of himself. Homeboy knows that he's hot (or if you don't think so, then he knows that girls really are into him,) and talented. (He is.)

He just doesn't walk around talking about it all the time.

His humility might be put on, but he does try to come across as humble and thankful. And I do believe he is very thankful.

Gerard likes to go on about what a toughass childhood he had and make up this myth of tragedy.

Jared lived in Haiti with missionary parents until his Dad split. He and Shannon left home when Jared was 16. He doesn't have to create edge in his life.

And yeah, he walks around with his head high, because he's really worked for what he has.

And he knows where his paychecks are coming from. So if his humility is a facade, and if his kindness is a facade, then to me it's the end justifying the means. So, people who want a moment with him often go home happy, because he took the time to be nice to them.

He apologizes a lot. When Perez Hilton was gunning for him, Leto went on TV and, when asked about all the vitriol aimed his way, he didn't take an attitude. Instead said he was sorry if he'd ever done anything to hurt anyone, or gotten in anyone's way. He needn't have. I found it both retarded and endearing.

If he's some bitter schmuck who is faking it all, then he's the one who's got to sleep with that every night.

Plus, great album. :)

The only toughass life he had was to play with his Star War dolls and sleep in his Batman sheets. What a badass!

There are people in the world who have been and will always be very sad and lonely. It's not an insult, it's not an excuse. Some people are just more prone to being alone or full of sorrow regardless of the way the were raised; with or without privileges. Considering the mental illness that they claim to suffer from in the Way family, depression isn't unlikely. In fact it's been stated again and again that many famous people had or continue to suffer from such issues. It seems to be one of the main reasons they seek out fame. They think it can help them, but it tends to make matters worse for them emotionally. It's not really that far fetched for Gerard to have had a miserable childhood. If he had emotional problems then there should be little doubt that he was unhappy.

This. Regardless of context, MCR, Gerard, w/e, this is very true.

Anonymous said...

Gerard may very well have had a miserable childhood, and if he did, then I am sorry for him.

However, it should probably be pointed out that all we really have to go on is his word, which isn't all that reliable.

Anonymous said...

I think a lot of people in the entertainment industry had miserable childhoods, but how many of them exploit that constantly as a marketing tool? I mean, before they wind up on Celebrity Rehab.

Anonymous said...

I don't think Gerard's really exploited his childhood to be honest. If you watch LotMS he just says he grew up in a rough area and was a lonely outsider- something that many fans can relate to. The 9/11 thing was a bigger exploitation if you ask me.

Anonymous said...

he's told a few different stories about 9/11. he was on a ferry, or a bridge, or a subway, or i don't even know anymore. if he can't even keep that straight it's hard to believe him on much of anything. lying about something like 9/11 is beyond the pale.

Anonymous said...

I'm willing to keep a bit of an open mind on that. Magazines that have printed that may not have come directly from the source, and may have paraphrased things.

I know so many people who live in and near NYC and not a single one of them saw the towers fall. Yet both Gerard and Lindsey saw it firsthand. Weird, huh?

I don't care who he is with. I don't care if he loves her to death: it's his business. I just don't like any rockstar that starts behaving as if they are superior, and/or mock (intentionally) their viewing audience.

sarcasim/expression does not translate exactly the way it is intended in the 'typed' world.

i love mcr and always will. they are dudes in a band...i never took them seriously in their proclaimations... i just love their music and lyrics. whoever they are outside of that, i will never know and do not care to know. like most bands i love...all for the music.

naive? but don't care. I'm like that with all the music i enjoy/have enjoyed throughout my life.

Anonymous said...

Good for you 11:00.

Anonymous said...

Yes, despite everything I too can still enjoy their music. I'm just worried recent events are going to impact on the new record.

Anonymous said...

Maybe there are no "recent events" and it's all a storm in a teacup.

Anonymous said...

i love mcr and always will. they are dudes in a band...i never took them seriously in their proclaimations... i just love their music and lyrics.

That is all very well and good and I'm happy that you feel that way.

I don't. For one thing, I never really thought MCR's music was "all that". It was fun, but I never got all this deep meaning out of it that a lot of people claim they do. As far as the "saving lives" thing goes, the music and lyrics don't say that to me at all. If anything, my favorite MCR songs were violent and dirty (Drowning Lessons, Demolition Lovers).

However, I did believe in Gerard's story of redemption from drugs, how he told people to "follow their dreams" and his stance on feminism. To me, that elevated the band above their talent and made them something else altogether. Was I ridiculously naive? Maybe, but it was good and now that's gone and I miss it.

Anyway, my point is that to a lot of us, MCR just isn't all that great musically. There are so many other bands out there who have great singers, who write better lyrics and whose music moves me more. Without the band's "message" they're just another mediocre Pop Punk band with pretensions and there are tons and tons of those out there.

I see now that the fangirls are starting to turn on Brian. They blame him for 'overworking' the band. Those poor, poor boys. How dare Brian invest his life savings on them, get them a tour in Europe and get them known in a year's time like that. How dare he expect them to actually, you know, show up when they have concerts, even when they're IN LOVE! How dare he expect them to put their professional lives above their personal drama.

What a fucking slave driver.

Anonymous said...

Link? Or is the Brian-hate just general?

Anonymous said...

I will laugh my ass off if Gerard vocal issues/Bob leaving/the band splitting up is blamed on a man whio has had fuck all to do with that band for the last 16 months.

Anonymous said...

If Brian gets the blame now then it's basically like them admitting they need him and that it all fell apart without him.

Anonymous said...

It's hilarious blaming Brian for 'overworking' them. Wasn't it the band who said that they'd gone on that last American tour, desipte the fact that 90% of the fanbase wanted them to take a break, because 'they loved to play?'

I don't doubt that the decision was more motivated by the debts they'd built up with TBP's stage show in the previous year, but again, wasn't that elaborate stage show the band's idea? Oh no, it couldn't have been. Everything was Brian's idea. He got the band into debt, he overworked them, he drove them to near-death and probably punched a baby or two on the way while he was at it.

In fact, let's just say Brian wrote the whole fucking album and was actually in disguse as all the members as they fucked groupies and relapsed and punched each other on stage and threw vomit in the fans' faces. Then we can just blame the huge clusterfuck that was MCR during 2006 - 2008 on him squarely.

Anonymous said...

Link? Or is the Brian-hate just general?

It's really just Brian-hate in general. Somebody on the BN thread is saying he over-worked them. Some people on Twitter are talking about wanting to punch, smack, etc. him for his 'arc' comment. One of dstarpro's buddy's in particular is angry with him for not clarifying his remark.

It's the usual: blame everybody but the people who are really responsible.

Anonymous said...

I agree with everything you said, 7:20. Gerard was the one who took credit for wanting the elaborate Black Parade stage show and he was always talking about how he wanted to tour on the record for 3 years. I honestly thought he was trying to channel Billie Joe Armstrong and Green Day at the time.

Now I'm sure that in his mind, it was all Brian's fault.

Anonymous said...

Of course Brian should clarify his comment, because he owes MCR fans something.

Anonymous said...

That was sarcastic, btw.

Anonymous said...

Anyone else find it weird that Brian made an "ark" comment and now Tsunami warnings are being issued for a good quarter of the world?

Kapunua said...

Maybe Brian caused the tsunami. Wrecking fangirls' fave boyband, now trying to wreck the pacific rim. Bastard!

Anonymous said...

You know, the more I think about everything that's happened in the last few weeks, the more I really do believe they're splitting up. If you look at the official website, there's been nothing but a push on really old merch or the new ~deluxe Black Parade. That's what I'd be trying to do if the band was inches away from announcing they were packing it in: try and get rid of all the stuff that's going to be worthless in a few months, and try and make a quick buck of their old material.

Or maybe they really do think it's good PR to re-release an album Gerard has just spent the last month of interviews shitting all over?

Anonymous said...

good god how many versions of tbp have they released so far? they milked all its worth years ago and now it's really pathetic and obvious

I think the record will be released to fulfill contractual obligations, but I don't see a big tour to support it. Maybe they'll do their little small clubs thing, but maybe not. I think this band has been teetering on the edge of breaking up for years now and everything has just fallen apart. It's about time to. MCR are such a joke, time to pack it in and move on out.

Anonymous said...

I'm wondering how long Dim-Z and the other exceptionally gifted bassist wife are going to be around when their husbands won't be the much lusted after rawkstaas anymore?

Anonymous said...

If these tattooed twits are only with them because they are rawkstaas they are as shallow as they are stupid.

Anonymous said...

would that surprise you?

Anonymous said...

I still would wish the best for them, no matter what.

And it also tells me a lot about these people and how they view themselves, if that were the case.

Anonymous said...

I don't wish bad things on the guys from MCR. I don't. But at the same time, I just want them to go away so I don't have to hear about them or think about them anymore.

I remember when I first started following the band and I met Gerard. He was very sweet, seemed shy, yet very grateful for the fans who came out to see them.

The last time I met him was at PR. I had VIP passes and some of us were waiting to meet him. He was sitting at a table with Frank and Ray, answering questions from a local radio station. He was wearing huge sunglasses and was making no attempt to hide how put out he was at having to deal with the press/fans.

After the people from the radio station were finished, the fans were going in to meet them and he just looked so angry, so disgusted, that my friend and I just said hi and left.

At the time I thought maybe he was just having a bad day but I couldn't stop remembering how different he had been just a couple of years before. It's like he got body snatched and replaced by some evil twin.

I haven't felt the same about him since.

I do think he needs to learn that he was very lucky to have gotten where he was and that he's not the end all and be all just because he was in a somewhat successful, somewhat talented rock band. There are other bands out there who are just as good, better even, and not all of them get all cocky and big headed like he did.

In the end he's just a person like the fans are; no better, no worse and I think he needs a little comeuppance.

i googled "hotel oblivion" for news on the new umbrella academy and couldn't find anything since he talked about it at comic con last year. wierd that there's been pretty much nothing since then. maybe related to the silence in the band too.

Anonymous said...

Note how it all started going downhill when Gerard got married? I knew his link with MSI would be the beginning of the end.

Anonymous said...

hmm that's true. he wrote most of the first umbrella series before his marriage and it was pretty good. the second one was all over the place and not that great, and now no word for months on the next one.

Anonymous said...

When Gerard got married it was so obvious it was the beginning of the end. Most of the fans wet themselves over him, and the music wasn't stong enough to get through that.

Anonymous said...

I think the problem came from how they handled the PR issues around the members of the band getting married. MCR have always had a massive young teenage fanbase, mainly made up of girls. They are probably one of the most 'boy band-esque' groups out there in the rock scene. You see pop bands like BSB who have a similar core following, only they did a good job of minimising the blow of taking all the members off the market in the fan's heads. They didn't belittle or mock their overinvested fans. MCR did. Between all the WMHC drama ("we're with them and you're not", "you're just jealous" etc) and the constant comments in the press from the members about their 'wonderful' wives and how sick they are of touring because they want to 'be at home with the loves of their lives' it rubbed fans up the wrong way.

In some respects, they have to maintain the fantasy that they seperate their personal lives from their business ones in order to keep those girls interested. It sucks, but that's the deal they made when they lied in interviews about being single and lonely in order to sell more albums.

Anonymous said...

Perfectly put.

Anonymous said...

I should also add that Frank was pretty open and honest about his relationship with Jamia from the start. He never lied about how much he loved her, and would talk about it if he was asked. But the way he did it made him more attractive to fans, I guess, because it was honest and made him seem like a nice person. Then he started touring with Leathermouth and telling the fans on the barrier 'you'll never have me' and calling them cunts. Whatever stresses your job puts you under, and however much sometimes you're made to feel like a piece of meat by screaming teenies, there are professional ways to deal with that which don't include that sort of behaviour.

Anonymous said...

I think MCR starting going down hill when the WMHC was formed. I for one thought "What are MCR really like if they allow themselves to be associated with these horrid people?"

I think maybe Frank lost it at the LM shows because it was all about him for a change and the attention went to his head. Before he had to contend with Gerard to be The Big I Am.

13 year old girls. They were the only ones at the LM gigs.

Anonymous said...

Jeff is asking people on the MCR site to donate to the America Red Cross to help out the people in Chille which is a nice idea but you'd have though they'd have realised that that they're fans are mainly minors and won't have the means to donate to the cause.

I think it would be better is MCR donated a percentage is not all the money they collect from the sale of merch for a period of time. Mummmy and Daddy are much more likey to buy merch for their little spoilts then donate to a charity.

You can clearly see how men just can't deal with being objectified but expect us women to be fine with it.
That's why it's so embarrassing for rock bands with male band members to have a following which mostly contains of girls and women.
Men think that they're allowed to be interested in a female celebrity just because she looks good, has nice big boobs and a firm ass but don't give a fuck if she's actually a talented singer or actress. Unfortunately, too many women are still okay with that.
When it comes to women only being interested in a male celebrity's looks it makes them appear stupid and shallow to them and the men don't know how to handle it and thus have to resort to belittling and degrading those fans.

Of course, they want hot girls and women in the crowd screaming for them and probably showing them their boobs - but please - the majority of the people in the crowd still has to be male.

So, they don't want too many women but they don't want their concerts to be a total sausage fest either.

Ugh, isn't it awful that you can't choose who's going to be allowed to listen to your music and come to your shows???

Sigh. Feminists are so boring.

The fact alone that you are educated enough to write that sentence should tell you otherwise, anon!

But if feminists bore you that much I'd suggest you start living your life like a girl/woman who was brought up and lived in a time in which feminism didn't exist. You wouldn't survive a single day living in such circumstances. So, I'd suggest another thing; Shut up and fuck off!

The stupid experiment of getting involved with a "hardcore punk" *coughjokecough* band like MSI really helped them get a new type of fan.

I would start a Feminism is so boring! boot camp for stupid girls and women who would have to serve men 24 hours a day/7 days a week. They would have nothing else to do than cook for them and clean their shit. They would even have to have sex with them even if they didn't want to, because, hey, there was no such thing as rape back then! There were only girls and women who had to be convinced that they actually wanted to have sex too.

I bet that they wouldn't need an hour to figure out for themselves that feminism is actually not that boring as they thought.

Anonymous said...

LOL Sibohan. Maybe we can get some of them pregnant and then force them to abort their own babies with a coathanger? Frank would find it funny. Maybe they could videotape it and send it to him. He might even write a Leathermouth song about it!

Anonymous said...

And then they had to masturbate in front of those men and moan for them. We could tape that too and send it to Gerard. He would be sooooo proud!!!

Anonymous said...

Exactly. Men can be feminists. Kurt Cobain was if I'm not mistaken.

Anonymous said...

If the band members aren't feminists, how do think they treat their wives?

Anonymous said...

I don't really think it's any of our business how they treat their wives. I only care about how they present themselves to the public and the effect they have on their audience.

What bothers me is that they are quite possibly giving young girls a distorted view of what feminism is. As a woman who has been discriminated against and sexually harassed in the workplace, that angers me very much.

Anonymous said...

You were sexually harrased in your dreams. Feminists are too fat and ugly to be sexually harrased.
