This. If you don't believe that, go look at the pathetic comments on their website from where Frank made his obligatory 'plea' for help for victims of the Haiti earthquake. Link. All 100 or so of them.
Half those people are so young they can't give money. A lot of them are from very poor countries and probably can't afford to buy MCR's records, let alone their expensive merch.

I am an MCR fan. I won't bore you with details why, but the reasons are quite personal to myself. I will be the first to hold my hands up and admit that this blog has some valid points. I will not be the first, but I will join those who have already stated that there is no excuse for sexism, no matter who or where it comes from.
I am posting because I see a lot of hatred and judgement in this blog, and it saddens me.
I acknowledge the valid points that this blog makes, however, occasionally I see personal attacks against both its commenters (on all 'sides' though I dislike the term, or even to think of it that way) and the band themselves. Just like sexism, I find that uncalled for and unnecessary.

No one here thinks MCR are some sort of high-powered feminist think tank, and they never tried to be. But they did stand proud of their defence of women's rights in the scene. Then they went and behaved like a bunch of sexist animals.
Some people are going to judge them for that. Because what they did was wrong.
Let me ask you a question: If MCR had been so vocal about standing up for Black and ethnic minority rights in the rock scene, and then made jokes about lynching non-whites, or saying where black people can and can't sit on the bus, or giggling at an asian person being punched, would we be having this discussion?

I'm 48 and widowed. I'm also the mother of two children: a girl, 19 and a boy, 10.
My daughter and I got into MCR together back in 2005. She was in high school and we used to go to the shows together. She stopped liking them when TBP came out, but I didn't.
My daughter and I went to see PR together (she for Saosin and TBS, me for Linkin Park and MCR). I came away from PR thinking something was terribly wrong. I've since come to the conclusion that the MCR I used to like never existed.
And yes, I am one of the people here who takes a very firm stand on feminism issues. With a nineteen year old daughter in college, how could I not?

Verita Venom, you know that name in this blog's URL, doesn't come by here much at all to my knowledge. She creates new posts every now and then usually when something note worthy happens with MCR. She gives us a place to vent and express ourselves in a way we couldn't at BN or LJ or other sites.

How long before this happens to one of MCR?
I'm interested to hear what the new album is going to sound like, especially as it's supposedly a huge change from anything they've done before. I know there will be those who will love it no matter what simply because it is MCR and others who will hate it for exactly the same reason.
I'd like to remain open minded. Sure, I've seen the youtube vids of the live performances of their new material, but as it is very difficult to make out the lyrics and sometimes even any sound in general I'm going to hold off judgement until the final studio versions arrive.
Those live videos sound dreadful. It would seem that the entire purpose of this new record is to craft songs that are really easy for Gerard to sing, so that they can tour for as long as possible off it.

First of all I think you mean Chris Brown and I was never a fan of his so I don't feel like I have to share how hurt and dissapointed I am on a blog. I will happily say that I think he's an asshole who is suffering the consequences of his actions by having a much lighter pocket book now.

On the one hand, we are all "obsessed" with MCR and spend way too much time on the internet. On the other, we don't have enough "strength of conviction" to make blogger accounts and speak under our "real names" (names like Nicci the Vampiress or dstarpro or Voluptuosity or mcrfan4eva, I suppose).
This seems contradictory to me because I, for one, do not have the time, inclination, nor interest in making and maintaining a blogger account. I have a job, children, hobbies and a ton of other interests (you, know, one of those "lives" the fangirls are always telling us to get) that take up too much of my time. I come here a few times a week to get caught up and to make a comment or two. I hardly see how that makes me "obsessed" nor how it makes me any less "strong in my convictions" than someone who makes up a silly blue name and offers up a biography of herself than may or may not be true.
