...oh well.....

It now looks like lots of us were wrong about Frank Iero too. Women getting punched is now funny to him too. And so is offending everyone he can. He now seems to enjoy the fact that he can say whatever nasty thing he wants and make people feel bad if he feels like it, without consequences.

That's the life and mind set of a true "Rock Star".

It's not like they're worth caring about anymore anyway....

Seeing I'm conversing with myself according to 9:38, who is probably from Buzznet, I should pick something actually interesting to talk to myself about. Do you agree with me 9:38?

Anonymous said...

I have no problems with anyone from Buzznet chatting here providing they are not deliberately rude to me or anyone here. I don't like being accused of coming from there, or talking to myself as 9:30 and 9:38 suggested because I disagreed with something.

That's what they do when they run out of arguments. God forbid they hear someone else's point of view!

I think Kat was real.

Gerard has said himself that he can't grow a beard. Did you miss that interview?

So what if he said it in an interview. I don't believe a word he says in any of them. For all you know he could be a hirsute caveman full of tattoos under his clothes.

Anonymous said...

I think Kat was real.

Then she must have been his invisible Canadian beard.

Megan said...

Although I've said I think Gerard is gay, on second thought it is a stretch to say that he is "in the closet." He's kind of hiding out in the open, what with kissing his guitarist with thousands (millions if you count the Internet) watching at PR.
I don't think it's impossible for someone who is really gay to deny themselves having gay affairs, because not everyone has the same level of sex drive. Some people have a very low interest in sex and are almost asexual. I know a few. Therefore it would be very possible for someone who tends towards the homosexual side but isn't very sexual to pretend to be straight and not have sex with men.

Megan said...

So basically, I think of Gerard as somewhere between gay and asexual.

Anonymous said...

Honestly, do you guys know how ridiculous you sound?

This is not disagreeing with someone. This is coming here to attack.

If you're going to disagree, do so politely and no one will have a problem with you.

Kthx.

That's the way I see it too. From the things that "Emma" wrote, "Paul" just let her do whatever even though he wasn't all that interested in it.

This is how I see it:

Emma: I love you so much Paul. You're so hawt. Let's have sex.

Paul: *sigh* Do we have to?

Emma: But I love you soooo much. That's what people in love do!

Paul: *sigh* Okay. But you have to do all the work.

Okay, so crap like this is just another reason that MCR will never be taken seriously.

Anonymous said...

Can't people find something more worthwhile to "protest" than the unfair treatment of a band in the media?

In the words of Kirk Lazarus, "Christ, Man."

Megan said...

It's not like MCR even receives much treatment from the media anymore...

I don't know. I feel sorry for those people and I relate to them because I used to be in that place, but they are the reason why I finally deleted MCR from my iTunes account and will get around to selling my CDs eventually.
I'm embarrassed to be associated or linked with them in any way.

The band certainly attracts a very, uhm, interesting crowd of followers.
Did it never occur to them that even if MCR is taking you away from self-harm and suicidal thoughts, that it could be unusual for virtually all of a band's fans to share these things in common? My God.

Anonymous said...

Awww, poor "asexual/gay" Paul couldn't get it up.

Inorite? I remember people asking me if I cut when they found out that I was a fan of MCR.

I think the whole "MCR saves lives" marketing ploy totally backfired on them.

Anonymous said...

It seems to me that if fans of the band don't want negativity in the media, the last thing they should be doing is to make a website that draws attention to it.

Kind of like the Daily Mail protest. That was so stupid and really just made the fans and the band look bad.

Anonymous said...

When you think about it, it really trivializes the seriousness of clinical depression.

Anonymous said...

You don't understand, these fans are out to prove to everyone how this band has "saved" them.

Anonymous said...

I know it's from the last page but I missed the Kevin Spacey thing too. Didn't the Mom from Family Ties just come out as well? Merideth Baxter Bierny (sp?)? Don't have time to google.

Anonymous said...

When you think about it, it really trivializes the seriousness of clinical depression.

It does. And it's also an insult to people who really do save lives: doctors, EMTs, firefighters, not to mention psychologists and counselors who help people deal with depression.

Music, literature and art are wonderful things that do help to give meaning to our lives, but they aren't cures for real clinical depression.

Anonymous said...

Paul: *sigh* Do we have to?

Really?

This is how I see it:

Emma: Do you want to fornicate and have premartial sex with me?

Paul: (giving Emma googly eyes) Have you any sexy photos of yourself?

Emma: (jumps on Paul) I love you Paul, my love is called agape. *Kisses him passionately* Lets have sex.

Paul: *Kisses her back* Okay. This is our secret, no telling anyone.

Anonymous said...

Didn't the Mom from Family Ties just come out as well?

She did and she was married for years to some other actor named David Birney.

Anonymous said...

The problem is no one really understands clinical depression unless you have suffered it or know someone who has suffers it. It's a condition that is managed throughout your whole life.

Anonymous said...

It's a condition that is managed throughout your whole life.

Exactly. And there's no magical musical cure for it. I think the message these people are sending out (that a band can actually save people's lives) is irresponsible and dangerous.

Anonymous said...

I think the message these people are sending out (that a band can actually save people's lives) is irresponsible and dangerous.

It also prevents people getting the real help and/or meds they need.

Anonymous said...

I have the impression that the young people that feel the band "saved their life" may be feeling mixed up or mildly depressed. They also don't have the life experience to know that things change as you get older, and you learn to cope better.

Anonymous said...

like for some impressionable kid listening to mcr and is depressed, if they believe what they say and the band doesn't "save their life" then they might think they have no hope left of being okay and do something drastic. it sickens me to think about.

Anonymous said...

You can't really blame the band for that. Once someone is in deep clinical depression, anything by anyone can be misinterpreted which can trigger drastic behavior. You're are not exactly thinking rationally by that stage. However I can see how the band can be framed by the media.

Anonymous said...

You can't blame the band for someone's depression, but you can blame them about being irresponsible for the "message" that they send out.

They never should have promoted the "Saving lives" crap in the first place.

Anonymous said...

How many times did they say the thing about saving lives on LOTMS? I remember it being a joke among me and my friends. We used to talk about it making a good drinking game. Only we were too young to drink then.

Now we're old enough to realize how stupid the whole saving lives thing was.

Anonymous said...

Maybe they listened to too much bullshit themselves.

Kapunua said...

I have always been and am still of the opinion that it's the parents and individuals who must decide what music is acceptable, especially for someone who is already battling some mental or emotional problem.

It has never been a band's responsibility to babysit its audience or to save them. Or even to help them. Lawsuits against a band for being a "bad influence" are ridiculous. Where were the parents in those instances?

However, I stand by my opinion that MCR asked for this with their overblown, ridiculous "zOMGzzzz WE R UR HEROEZ!!!!" nonsense and "OH HEI WE LVOE FEMINIZMZZZ FITE 4 UR RITES!!11" junk and then one day all of a sudden it's "stop making us your heroes, WAHH, we can't take it and we never asked for this!" and "Moan for me bitches, ACTUALLY eff yourselves, I want every female to simulate masturbation for my amusement, JUST the ladies!"

I mean, Motley Crue and the entire 80's had just as much right to exist and promote their sexist messages as does any right-wing, conservative, misogynistic douche-group (many of those rap artists that Lindsey hypocritically bitches about, Anne Coulter, MSI, and most of the 80's groups.)

People can be as hateful as they want and no one can stop them. They have the right to free speech as well. And no one should try to censor them.

That MCR pulled a 180 by ditching those false ideals that they used basically for money is a given. Apropos to the idea of not censoring anything, they are well within their rights to do so.

We're also well within our rights to laugh in their hateful faces about it.

And I think it's also laughable for Lindsey to be whining about she and her crappy band are perceived after they went out of their way to be misogynistic, sexist, racist and violent.

I mean, that's what MSI is, that's the nature of the beast and they have the right to be that way. But for her to be bleating about the perception being unfair, and for MCR to be bleating about how they never wanted the mantle of "hero" is straight up assy.

When Lindsey and her crap band get compared to Anne Coulter, they should really just take their medicine.

Megan said...

???

I think you're kind of lumping a bunch of things you don't like together here. Anne Coulter: right wing. MSI: not so right wing; the Republicans I know would be trying to censor and ban their asses all the way back to New Jersey or wherever they came from in the name of "family values." Same thing goes for rap artists. (Artists, it feels funny calling them that.)

Kapunua said...

I lumped them together because of their lowest common denominator: setting women back at least 100 years.

And I don't care if the right wing would be trying to censor them. They've got the same agenda when it comes to sexism. People, and groups, can be different in some ways and try to categorize themselves in different ways, but essentially be the same beast. You actually see that in politics all the time.

Music is no different.

Kapunua said...

And what makes you think that MSI is anything but right-wing? The ultra conservative agenda is anti-women, anti-women's rights, is for the most part racist, and is homophobic.

I think that MSI is a prime example of a right-wing agenda group. The only difference is that they use more swear words and don't wear suits and ties.

Kapunua said...

In fact, Ann Coulter once said of women: ""I'm so pleased with my gender. We're not that bright."

If that doesn't sum up everything Lindsey has more or less said in every single interview ever, I don't know what does.

Anonymous said...

I think I have to agree with K on this. I never saw it that way before.

Lyn-Z - "Girl power, I like being a girl" (I like my gender)

Lyn-Z - "But you don't have to be the best at what you do and you don't even have to be talented, as long as you do it" (But we're not that bright and we don't have to be).

Uggggggg.

Anonymous said...

MSI: not so right wing; the Republicans I know would be trying to censor and ban their asses all the way back to New Jersey or wherever they came from in the name of "family values."

And yet both groups share the same misogynist attitudes.

Maybe that's what people are talking about when they call MSI's lyrics "ironic." It's the only irony I can see there.

Because it's their own personal aspiration and they don't have the imagination to understand why anyone would want anything else. Like a purpose.

These are very minor rockstars and it looks like their shelf life is almost up. Not really worth catching

How very sad. I can't imagine what it would be like to live in the world on someone else's terms and not my own.

I'm proud of the fact that I can take care of myself and don't have to rely on anyone to support me.

Anonymous said...

Like they are above all the doctors, engineers, chefs, ect all out of the public eye. Yup, only rockstars make a difference in the world.

Kapunua said...

I think it's unfortunately a very wide-spread perception, too. Not just among teens, but among older women, housewives, etc. I don't know why that's so ingrained in some people.

I don't look at men as something to "bag" anyway. To have fun with, to spend some time, to learn, all that kind of stuff. And I sure wouldn't want someone to think they could "bag" me. In a joking sense, it's a funny colloquialism but to folks like Ms Fangirl up there, it's how they honestly see it.

You're right; it is very sad.

What a fool you are, to generalize this way.

I am not "fat" nor "ugly", and I do agree with the gist of their arguments.

I also tend to think rockstars are egotistical, infantile, emotionally undeveloped people. It's all an act and they would make a very poor partner.

This is just sad on so many levels. What about love, respect, and companionship? Your comment is not only sexist against women, it implies that men are only objects as well. Perhaps once one has "bagged" said rockstar he should have his head stuffed and hung on the wall with the other trophies.

Goodness, no wonder they all act like jerks if this is how women treat them.

Also, I would suggest that any woman be able to stand on her own whether she is married or not. Even the most beautiful woman in the world can't expect to trade on her looks for very long. What happens when the bagged rockstar decides to trade her in for a new model?

Megan said...

You can have your views, Kapunua, but I for one find them to be a bit extreme.
Sexism is in no way exclusive to the right wing. I wish people would realize this, because if you want to see real change you can't make feminism an exclusive club only open to Democrats.

I see a lot of sexism from the left wing, whether it's the nonstop hate for Sarah Palin, as though she's a traitor to women just because she doesn't share your liberal views, or Obama supporters in the 2008 Democratic primary making fun of the way Hillary Clinton looks.

Anyway I think the rock star lifestyle prevents people from growing up even if the capability was originally there.
I'll be the first to admit I gravitate towards the more notorious bands simply because they're more interesting. At the end of the day no one wants to hear rock 'n roll written by "really nice guys," and that's not good for the person behind the persona.
I find musicians as a group to be fun to admire from afar but not really real life relationship material.

Anonymous said...

Agree with Megan. Someone can be sexist and still have other liberal views. It happens all the time.
You can also claim to be a feminist and make a lot of sexist remarks. There's proof of that in this blog.

Anonymous said...

What happens when the bagged rockstar decides to trade her in for a new model?

Which they pretty much all do. It's kind of repulsive really.

Well if you really think about it, that's what I'm saying. Do you think MSI are registered Republicans or consider themselves Right Wing? Think about what I'm saying.

I see a lot of sexism from the left wing,

Hi, MSI?

whether it's the nonstop hate for Sarah Palin, as though she's a traitor to women just because she doesn't share your liberal views,

"Liberal views?" No, she's a traitor to women because she wants to take away our choice. And did you hear anything at all about this making rape victims pay for their own rape kits?

or Obama supporters in the 2008 Democratic primary making fun of the way Hillary Clinton looks.

I disagree with making fun of her for her looks, as well. What's that got to do with anything I said at all?

Please, please do find me the one instance where I said that only right wing republicans are sexist? Because I must have missed it.

If you look really closely, you might notice me saying that "liberal" folks like MSI are just as bad as the Ann Coulters, and more or less the same monkey in a different suit.

I thought I'd made that pretty clear.

Kapunua said...

And by the way. I really hate this idea that we're all supposed to support these crappy, misogynistic women just because they're women. Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, hello, Lindsey Way - these people do not get a free pass. Sexist is sexist.

Hi guys... long time no see!
Good to see that VV's is still around. :)

You can have your views, Kapunua, but I for one find them to be a bit extreme.

You're entitled to your opinion, Megan, but I have to say I disagree. Kapunua is right: women can be just as detrimental to equality as men can be, regardless of their political leanings. Women like Sarah Palin make me grit my teeth & want to throw things at her, because she makes such lame-ass statements about women when she should know better. I've unfortunately known more than a few women who consider themselves to be hard-core liberals, but do more to further fuck up feminism than they contribute to its ideals.

If a woman repeatedly hits or slaps a man, but keeps taunting him with the fact that he's an asshole if he hits her back, how is that feminism?

If a woman refuses to cook or clean in her household, but expects her husband/boyfriend to shovel the snow & mow the lawn because "that's a man's job", how is that feminism?

If a woman chooses to let a man support her and yet freaks out when he asks her what she's done all day, that's not feminism. What that is, is pathetic.

I know I've been guilty of sexism. I can't even count the number of times I've accused a friend of bitching at me, or how many times I've called the guy who cuts me off in traffic a dick. We've all heard the argument that 'they're just words', but they're still gender-biased. I should know better than to use them, and I do know better. So I'm not sure why you'd find Kapunua's views 'extreme' - she's only pointing out a fact.

sister midnite said...

I know I'm late to the party, but I was reading back a few posts and there was a suspicion on here that Jeff Watson (or another Warner stooge) was creating MCR 'fan' accounts on social networking sites in order to plug Desolation Row. How did you guys figure that out?

It's pretty hilarious, if that's Warner's idea of trying to sell the band to a wider audience.

Anonymous said...

I know I've been guilty of sexism. I can't even count the number of times I've accused a friend of bitching at me, or how many times I've called the guy who cuts me off in traffic a dick.

I think all of us have done those things at some point, mainly because that's what society has taught us and it's hard to break old habits and traditions.

A lot of women don't even realize that they're being treated like second class citizens because they just don't know any better.

The fansheep who thinks the ultimate goal is to "bag a rockstar" is probably one of those girls who just accepts the way the people around her think.

Until we can learn to recognize these sexist behaviors and call others (and even sometimes ourselves) out on them and thus opening them up for discussion, things aren't ever going to get better.

This is why I abhor the attitude that we should just turn a blind eye to Frank's indiscretions because "he really didn't mean it" or "that's just his sense of humor."

Anonymous said...

Someone once told me I shouldn't judge Frank, because if he needed the concept of sexism and why his words are offensive explained to him then 'that would be Jamia's job, not yours'.

Proof that the fans are as backward as Frank himself.

Anonymous said...

How did you guys figure that out?

It was pretty easy to figure out. There were obvious sock puppet accounts that kept popping up on various sites to push the single, the le vinyl, etc. They were very easy to spot because they claimed to be male and used either comic book oriented names or names like "tallicadude" (not your average MCR fan). Also, the accounts were brand new and said things like, "Hey, guys, check out this out, it's awesome," and gave a link to the site where said item could be bought.

Lame.

With someone like Sarah Palin and Ann Coulter, you can see the misogyny coming a mile away. But with Lyndsey she's spouting the word "feminism" and waving it around like dirty underwear.

It's just as gross and more insidious when misogyny is done under the flag of feminism.

They probably don't even know about Haiti and now they don't have Brian to tell them that it would make them 'look good' if they donated some of their time to increasing awareness about the relief effort.

Maybe they'll do another LE bullet proof vest later on and have, like 10% of the profits going to the disaster relief. That's about their speed.

MTE. IMO, she *is* worse, because she's either too stupid to see that she's misrepresenting what she says & does as being feminist, or she's too much of an idiot to care. My guess would be that she's both.

I also wanted to say that I agree with the people who said that MCR and MSI probably aren't really racists. They may not be the sharpest crayons in the box, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're bigots. It probably never occurred to them in their amaaaaaaayzing daily lives that they're in a position to mobilize people & get the word out there. People need to know that they can donate money through Google's crisis response site, The Red Cross, Care, Save the Children, etc.

Fans would probably crack open their piggy banks if the members of MCR just asked them to. I think saving those people's lives is more important than selling MCR records and merch.

Here is an opportunity for MCR to really save lives and they do nothing.

Just goes to show how much that whole "saving lives" business really did mean to them. (Not much.)

They won't as they have completely backed off from this image. They no longer want to be perceived this way, nor do they want the cult-like adulation that accompanies it. Imo.

Maybe they are making a private donation.

Hopefully they are. IMO, that's the best way to do it. Nobody is asking them to brag on their twitters about how much they are helping.

But think of all the money they could help raise if they just posted a link to the charities who are helping on their twitters.

Warner will probably get around eventually to doing something on the official website to make the band look like they're helping. It is good publicity, you know.

I was one of the fans that Frank blocked on Twitter (for no reason) a while ago. I have to admit that I was angry at him for a long time. I know that it's just Twitter but I felt unappreciated as a fan and hurt. After reading this blog and the comments, I got over it and "forgave" him. I'm not sure why that is when it seems to have the opposite effect on most of the others here.

Different people react differently. I personally have never had the desire to tweet any celebrities, so I don't really get the big deal when they block someone. They don't know you and you don't know them so I don't really understand how that can be taken personally. By the same token, I guess I don't understand your sentiment when you say you "forgave" him. I don't really get why he means enough to you that you would feel the need to forgive (or not forgive, for that matter).

I do find Frank's sexist tweets to be offensive and although I don't take them personally I do find that I think less of him because of them.

Anonymous said...

I think a lot of that has to do with now much self-esteem the person has. If someone treats you unfairly you have to make the decision whether or not to stand up for yourself or to just sit there and take it.

LOL! THanks to Lynn for the link to the *Emma* story. How did I ever miss this one? I've been reading this blog for a while and thought after reading her *story* + what you all wrote I wanted to give my thoughts on the whole Paul/Emma saga. You might think I'm crazy as I'm starting to believe that LynZ was the *girlfriend* *Emma* was trying to avoid when she came to visit *Paul*. Someone here thinks L's been around for a long time and that wasn't me. Anyhoo I can picture E feeling intimidated by LynZ. IMO *Paul* always loved L and carried a torch for her ever since he met her in 02 or 03?. They probably weren't really together like girlfriend/boyfriend in the real way, though IMO *Paul* referred to L in that way. Once he dumped E and they played together at ProRev they became committed enough for G to ask L to marry him. *Katmandu* could have been a code name for her or a place they like. I don't think G is gay, could be Bi, and L could be too. That's what I think.

Michelle said...

*Kat* must have been real if she was L all along.

I don't believe that Lindsey was Kat because I don't get the reason for the secrecy. None of the other guys ever tried to hide who their girlfriends were, so why would Gerard? He seems to be so proud of his relationship with Lindsey and he thinks she's so amaaaayyyzing, unlike Eliza, so why would he have kept her secret?

Anonymous said...

Hi Michelle!

Anonymous said...

Gerard has never been truthful or open about anything.

Anonymous said...

It's not like Gerard was trying to hide the fact that he had a girlfriend. At one point he was talking about her in nearly every interview he gave, so it doesn't make sense for him to have been keeping her identity a secret, except for maybe two reasons.

1) The girl didn't want to be in the public eye. This is what people assumed about "Kat". That she was a private person who wasn't comfortable being in the limelight. We know this doesn't apply to Lindsey because she loves attention or she wouldn't be in a band.

2) He was ashamed of her. A lot of people think this is the reason he never really acknowledged Eliza. But he seems to be really proud of Lindsey so it wouldn't make sense for him to keep her a secret.

Sorry, but the Lindsey was "Kat" theory just doesn't make any kind of sense at all.

Anonymous said...

G Way & Lindsey could have been to coin the term f***buddies until PR when it became a real relationship.

Anonymous said...

Whatever Gerard and Lindsey's relationship, it seems rather sordid no matter how you look at it. I don't think this man is capable of being honest or real about anything.

I feel kind of sorry for Lindsey. Being married to and having a kid with someone who doesn't seem to be even capable of telling the truth about anything would be scary as hell.

Anonymous said...

Not sure about the f buddies. You could see it this way. Based on the bands mantra about "saving lives" how could they go on and become famous, still being "feminists" and "saving lives" if Lindsey and her band was revealed? When they made their money and he married her he could openly support her.

Anonymous said...

I don't know. It seems to me that with a skeleton like Lindsey (and MSI) in their closet, they wouldn't have taken the risk and gone the "saving lives, band with a message" route.

Besides, I don't think Gerard is smart enough to have hidden her on purpose.

Anonymous said...

I think we're giving those two idiots way too much credit. As if they both would have been capable of keeping quiet about their relationship (whether they were real girlfriend and boyfriend or just friends with benefits) for so long
Gerard stated in many interviews that he didn't want to become the cutesy heartthrob so why should he have hidden his girlfriend then unless she herself didn't want to be seen with him? I also don't think that Lindsey is a woman who appreciates it to be denied by her significant other or hidden as if her boyfriend would be ashamed of her.
She would have loved the attention for herself and the band and just like they (Gerard&Lindsey in particular and MCR&MSI in general)are getting away with their faux feminism now they would have gotten away with it back then too.
The fansheep would have lapped up MSI's and Lindsey's claims that their lyrics are supposed to be satire and that the 'joke' is on the people who 'don't get it' just like they lap it up now.

So, Gerard's girlfriend of six years (if there ever was one to begin with which I don't believe) was either very smart to hide because she already thought about the internet/real-life drama she could become involved in by being associated with him or maybe she was just afraid to be in the public eye because she didn't want embarrassing things of her life to come out. A troubled past, delinquency, drug abuse? Because I don't think that someone who's not an alcoholic, drug addict or even mentally unstable herself would have been with someone like Gerard and his problems for so long.

Their then manager at the time Brian Schechter's may have told GW be quiet about Lindsey & MSI. I don't think she would have been accepted by MCR fangirls, as all the internet drama started after Eliza started coming forward and she was ripped apart. The fangirls seemed to think Lindsey was some sort of savior to Gerard after his first GF who was actually his second, Eliza.

I'm sure the women and children now facing rape as a result of the country's collapse are laughing along with him.

At least the people of Haiti will benefit from the money, although I'm sure the band are only thinking of themselves first.

Are you really sure about this? Go look back at old MCR communities and you'll see very few of the old, original members who still remain. The numbers have dwindled substantially.

Also, if they are "rich" like you say, I doubt they'll stay that way for long. It costs a shit ton of money to live in LA, the record industry is in some serious trouble and MCR are considered by most of the world to be a "fad" band.

Their "rich and famous" days are numbered.

I seriously doubt that they're rich. Bands in general only make a few cents when each CD is shifted. Depending on how many copies are sold, most bands don't make a lot of money. Most of the money is generated through merch and touring.

There you go Siobhan. What annoys me is that some fans assume that bands make a lot of money just because they're in the music business.

Recording songs and producing albums also takes money, who gets the percentage of the cut, and so on. And then you got bands out there who have to take second jobs to continue to support at what they do.

I'm no defending anyone - I'm on no one's side, I'm just saying, there's about ten of you, but thousands on groups for them on Facebook, their website and Myspace. Their gang is bigger.

Gerard has enough money to buy a home in LA and to not work a 'normal' job and, to focus on his next album - which is more than any of us can say. If someone has done well enough that they can do what they want with their time, because they've earned enough as a result, then fair play to them. And before any of you start going on about how he did it lying, then so does everyone else, anyone else who you've ever listened to, watched, or read about. Seriously, most people here are not just 'picking on' poor little Gerard. That whole band have shown themselves to be, not only hypocrites and liars, but proud of it.

Frank shows no shame in making jokes about sexual violence. Gerard tells underage girls to 'moan for him'. Weren't these the guys that five years ago they were telling us to 'spit right in their goddam face'?

I come here to spit.

Gerard's nice preened hedge in LA is too high for me to reach over.

Anonymous said...

Fair comment. But Gerard asking girls to moan for him - part of his act was always very sexual anyway. The lyrics in three-cheers are very provocative. And bullets. If parents let their daughters go to the gigs, knowing what the lyrics are like, and not expect controvercial things to be said at the gigs then, more fool the parents. They should keep a better eye on what their underage kids are listening to.

Anonymous said...

Yes, their act was very sexual in the start, true. But it was them (mainly Gerard and Frank) sexualizing themselves.

They didn't focus it on members of their audience, or objectify them.

In fact, isn't that what they used to be against? If I remember, Gerard also said 'We got so sick of seeing women objectified in the rock scene. The way girls are exploited is wrong'.

Then he does a 180 and makes them mastubate for him? No. That's not right, and by hand-waving it away, you send out the message that it's okay to talk the talk of feminism and respect it 'in theory' but not apply it to anything you do or say.

You can't preach away like that and then just do the exact opposite. That's what many of us feel here. Feminism and women's rights might not be a buig deal for a lot of MCR fans, but for some people, they are. Seeing this band piss all over it in order to shift albums gets people talking. Sorry.
