I've been following them since 2004 and the only things I've seen that points to Kat being real is that pretty goth quote in Kerrang, Voltaire said he had dinner with them and that she was a former student of his, Eliza said she ran into her once in her "story" and possibly Gerard's friend that wrote that Heartbreak comic thanking a Katrina after Mikey in the book. It would be funny if she showed up after all this time though.

It is weird how even on old, old boards there was talk of Matt's gf and Mikey's, I guess Ray was just a playa back then(?) but never Katmandu.

Perhaps I jumped to conclusions when watching it but the "We're going to hook you up later" and the "Let's get fucked up" comments always made me wonder. Plus the fact that the girl's faces had been blurred out struck me as odd because in other scenes girlfriends and other fans hadn't had their faces blurred, so what made these people so different?
I think the blurring was because they didn't give permission for their images to be used where the others perhaps had. I think he was just talking to his partying buddies.

It's not actually. MCR was just hitting the scene back when Gerard was supposedly with her. The internet was not a part of the entertainment world then, as it is now. Throw in either 'her,' their's as a couple or the bands management's desire to keep it underwraps (to make the band appear more attainable to fans, as they often do with frontmen) and it makes perfect sense. Even just five years ago, you couldn't get the amount of private information, even pictures, as you can now. There are many famous people who's significant others we have never, nor will we ever, see. The list is extraordinarily long. I'm not trying to defend GW personally, think what you want. But the thought that he is alone in having an Ex unprovable to have existed, is laughable. Any rock star/actor/ect hitting the scene a few years back, before the intrusion of the internet, can be in the same position. Especially if the other person is not a part of the scene and has no drive to be. It wasn't that difficult to go completely unnoticed. Didn't Mikey have a girlfriend back then as well? I remember seeing a picture that was assumed to have been his 'her.' I don't remember a press release confirming it. It's all just assumption. But it is (and certainly was back then) possible to stay out of the spotlight. You just have to make the effort. To say otherwise is a load.

I've been on MCR communities since 2003 and fans were posting about them on the internet even before then. I remember when people would post threads about how the band slept on the floor of their apartment back during the van days. Fans talked about Jamia and Jeanna and there were pictures.
We don't know whether or not Kat existed, but considering all the lies Gerard has told about other things and the fact that nobody can confirm a sighting of her does give us cause to doubt.

I think Chantal is very talented. She has a great voice and really good stage presence. Morningwoods songs are also a lot of fun. I was a fan of Morningwood before she and Jimmy were a known couple. Now that they are married it is very hard to seperate them and that does make me think less of her. But she has always been very nice to her fans at shows I've been too.

I remember reading that little snippet about "Kat" in Spin when it first came out. I thought it was sweet. But then I started hearing rumors about Eliza during the Warped Tour, which Gerard supposedly got Eliza a job for. It really does seem rather sordid.
Also, I was going back through mcrsecrets on lj from right around the time that TBP came out and there was a very suspicious post about Eliza, calling her "Mikey's best friend." Looking back on that now, it almost seems like someone involved with the band posted that to try and get fans prepared for the "big reveal" that Eliza and Gerard were a couple. What they obviously didn't know was that Eliza had been dropping hints since 04 that she and Gerard were an item and half the fanbase already knew about her.
I think that Gerard was planning to try and create a backstory for him and Eliza after his breakup with "Kat" story had played out -- something along the lines of "She was Mikey's best friend and she was around for me after the breakup, blah, blah," (kind of like the backstory he created about Lindsey being supportive of him 4 years before) but Eliza had already spilled the beans and they lost control of it. When he realized it was never going to play out right that's when he dumped her and found a more suitable beard, er, replacement.

They go from "Oh, I can't believe people don't know they're dating" to "I miss Kat," to "They're not together because Gerard said he was single and just broke up with Kat" to "Gerard cheated on Kat with that slut!" in subsequent posts (paraphrased).
People really did want to give Eliza the benefit of the doubt in the beginning. I didn't remember that.
