I don't think those lyrics to Kiss the Ring are correct. I was at one point trying to listen to the song with my Shure earbuds to discern the correct ones, but the song was so awful and Gerard's voice was so much like fingernails on a chalkboard that I just couldn't do it. Maybe I'll give it another try.

I don't think any of us assume that Gerard has been sober at all. If anything, most of us think he's shown signs of some kind of substance abuse since Pro Rev or even before.
We don't know for sure, but it certainly can't be ruled out based on what he says, seeing as how he lies about everything else.

I think Apocalypse Suite won some kind of childrens' book award last year, which must have made Gerard crazy. After all, childrens' books can't be hardcore. That's probably why he chose to make Dallas so randomly violent. It's probably also one of the reasons he put that horrid JFK assassination pic in the hardcover edition. He wanted to make sure nobody mistook it for a "kiddie book."

I just saw the video of Cancer from Summer Sonic and I don't understand why Gerard refuses to sing the lyric "I will never marry" anymore. It's a song for chrissake and it's said by the character in the song, not him. Is he so afraid the fangirls are going to take him literally and start a bunch of rumors about him getting divorced or some shit when he sings it? He still sings the lyrics to all the other songs which contain things he himself doesn't do.

Gerard never could sing well live. He seems to have gotten lazier about it as time went by. And it's actually too bad that everything people found endearing about him, to make up for not so pitch perfect, was all a facade. There's nothing left to fall back on. I don't think lousy lyrics and autotune are going to go far for them.
I watched the Summer Sonic footage of 'This Is How I Disappear' and 'Mama' that 3.06 left. Mama was bearable. But Disappear was awful. Really bad. It's like GW has changed the key of the tune, or the tune, to make it easier for his voice. But it doesn't work, and I felt for Ray, desperately trying to harmonize to a tune that had changed so drastically. Really awful. I always knew his live voice wasn't "the best" but his other (supposed) qualities made up for it. Watching that footage I really was just cringing. Very uncomfortable. How are his vocals gonna cope with this next tour?
I wonder if he or the band is considering having him lip sync. Which makes me wonder, how do performers who do lip sync pull it off believably? Most get caught at some point, yes, but do they lip sync to the studio recording, or a live recording?
I wouldn't be surprised if the band at least employs some kind of backing track to supplement Gerard's voice during the next tour. I doubt the fans will even notice it because all the pyro and explosions of their stage show will distract them from it.
i think for pop and rap performers its easier to play a backing track because the vocals have so many effects no one would notice. its much harder for a traditional rock band because they usually don't employ synths etc. like why its so easy for lynz to fake play the bass on stage with msi's electronic techno.

I personally think that Gerard is so miserable pretending to be straight that he's letting himself go and thus the rat's nest in the back of his head. But that's just my opinion. I also think he's drinking again because he has that same puffy look about his face that he had during the drunk days.

I don't think it's appearance with Gerard so much as it is mannerisms and the way he carries himself. And there is such a thing as Gaydar, which is not always 100 percent accurate, but some people do have remarkable intuition about that sort of thing. My mom, for instance. She has a lot of gay friends (she's kind of eccentric and for some reason gay men seem to love her) and she can usually spot a gay man even when he doesn't outwardly appear so. She totally thinks Gerard is gay, by the way.

There was evidence of Kat in an interview when the interviewer wrote about her as she joined him and held his hand during the last part of the interview. She was described in the interview as 'pretty' 'unassuming' and 'gothic' if I remember correctly.
I remember that interview, but it was one interview and nobody ever saw this girl again. It could have been anybody -- his cousin, the girl next door, some chick at the show that one of the guys slipped a twenty to to pretend she was his gf.

I'm neither confirming or denying rumors of his sexuality, merely pointing out that there is evidence to suggest Kat existed. Even members of WMHC, who sided with Eliza after Gerard called off the engagement, have labelled Kat as 'intensely unsupportive' because she did not want to be photographed with him. If they really wanted to twist the knife, surely they would insinuate her non-existance, as opposed to just maligning her character.
Amen. I remember that interview too. The interviewer specifically said Kat was his girlfriend, not his cousin/friend etc. I've seen several pics as well where he is always with the same girl. One he is lifting her up and carrying her in his arms, one is just the two of them standing together somewhere outside, one is the two of them in someones living room and she is curled up with him on the couch together and she is laughing and one is a group photo from when they recorded the first album.

I have absolutely nothing to gain by lying. I was an 'old school' My Chem fan and attended some of the first shows they ever played, didn't like the way they evolved and while I no longer consider myself a fan, I have nothing against them personally. I have met every member of the band, except Bob, several times, and they were all exceptionally sweet and humble (and drunk). If you ask around, I'm sure you will find someone who saved these pics, they are very old, so probably best to approach older people who have been fans for a long time. Hope this helps, and again, sorry for any trouble.

I've seen that pic before and people have speculated about her being Kat, but she has blonde hair, it's braided and she's wearing little or no makeup. Plus, look how she's dressed. She doesn't look like a 'gawth girl' to me.

Regarding the pictures of Kat, I've seen 3 of the 4 the anon posted. Unfortunately I never saved them, even when I used to love this band. I've seen the picture of them on a sofa, it was a lemon/pale gold colour and I've seen the one of him carrying her, although I think it looked more like he was in the middle of swinging her round but obviously it's a still so you can't tell for sure. I met Gerard once and I thought he was gay. I felt it just because I have a lot of gay friends, I'm used to being around gay people and my gaydar throbbed. I'll bet he's gay any day. I lot of gay people get married to cover it up.

I've talked to some of my friends from the old school days and they remember maybe one of those photos but they say the girl in it was not Kat, but one of the girls who worked with them recording Bullets. It just seems to me like somebody (Mikey maybe) would post a proud pic of her on his twitter. "Bandit keeps getting more and more beautiful every day" as a caption or something. It's like Gerard is keeping her hidden away purposely.
Even Molly Followill's picture has been posted several times on Nathan Followill's twitter and she's only the band's cousin's (Nacho their guitar tech) baby and she's younger than Bandit. Nathan is so proud to be her godfather. He posted a pic called "Creepy Uncle Caleb" which shows Caleb kissing her on the cheek and one of her holding his drumsticks that says "KoL's new drummer." He also talks about how quickly she's growing and how beautiful she is -- the things proud family members do. And it's not for publicity because Nathan's twitter is private and the average fan doesn't even know who Nacho is.
Honestly, if Gerard and Lindsey use this baby by suddenly revealing her when the new record comes out, then the whole world needs to get a clue just how despicable these people are. It's not right to use a child for publicity.

Does everyone remember how their was the "test photo" that "leaked" on the internet of him with his hair all chopped off and bleached white and how the fans went completely apeshit over it? Then we all had to wait and wait to find out just what the heck was going on.

From the 3 pics I saw it was the same girl in each pic, and their body language on the sofa and where he was spinning her round made it seem like they were an item. I don't mean to be nasty or anything, but Gerard's body language with Eliza and Lindsey in pictures hardly suggests a romantic relationship. It either looks force and fake (the "leaked" kiss) or no different than he looks when he's taking pictures with fans. And that Prom kiss picture was the most laughably awkward thing I've ever seen.
So forgive me if I don't jump to believe that their are sooper sekrut pictures of him and Kat out there where he looks like he's "into her."

I am so very sorry about what is going on with Kapunua. I wish I knew her better so I could talk to her. I've been through a similar time in my life where one tragedy was followed by another and it starts to feel like you've been singled out by the gods for some kind of horrible test or punishment that is never ending. It's hard not to give up. I wish I could tell her that things will eventually get better, but really, that's not something you can tell anyone. They have to discover it for themselves.
Still, maybe it would help to know that she's not the only one. Maybe it would help to know that she will come out on the other end of this stronger than she already is.
If you read this, Kapunua, I wish for you strength and, eventually, peace.

On a sidenote, I was a bit gobsmacked that Mikey has tweeted the link to the very mediocre performance of MCR at Summer Sonic performing "This Is How I Disappear" and "Mama". Do you think he actually watched it before he posted it? I think not. Also some of the comments from the fangirls are unbelieveable.

Well it doesn't take much of any musical skill to do what he does, and he doesn't sing back up, so it's not impossible.
Mikey's bass does kind of get totally lost underneath Ray and Frank's guitars and Bob's drumming.
This is kind of off topic, but speaking of drumming, I think the drumming on Three Cheers is far superior to that on TBP. I really do think they just fired Matt because he didn't fit in with the image they were trying to project at the time.
What happened with that lawsuit, by the way? I wonder if they just made it go away quietly by settling out of court like they did the U Maine student gov't lawsuit?

It was. The pace on Three Cheers was frenetic and very driven by the drums, whereas they aren't as important on TBP. When I saw MCR the last time I noticed that they seem to have trouble keeping time on the Three Cheers songs. I never saw them live when Matt was playing so I don't have anything to compare it to, but Bob does seem to struggle a bit with those songs. And of course, he doesn't get much help from the other half of the band's "rhythm section" if you can even call it that.
Lol, I went onto youtube and commented about how bad Gerard's voice sounds (and I did it nicely too) and my comment got deleted.
If you go back and read through all the comments you'll see others where people say things like "I don't think he sounds that bad" but you don't see the other comments where people said he did sound bad. Apparently all the negative comments are being deleted.

I finally brought myself to watch a video from Summer Sonic (I guess I just couldn't be bothered before).
I'd heard so much about how Gerard looks and sounds so much worse than ever before... but honestly I think it's all perception. He's really no worse looking than he was when I thought he was "hot," and his voice has never been very good live (or otherwise).
The thing about Gerard's voice that really gets me is that he can't make it all the way through one song without losing his breath and having to let fans sing. I've been to a lot of shows and I've liked a lot of different bands and I've never, ever seen that with any other singer (if you can even call him that).
Thank God he didn't say her name. Poor woman would never have any clients ever again.

I agree that perception does vary from person to person, but to me, Gerard was actually attractive for about six months or so. Right around Warped 05 into the Revenge tour when he was having his hair styled regularly and wearing the right balance of makeup I thought he looked really good. I didn't find him "hot" but I did enjoy looking at him. By the time the Revenge tour was over, he was getting a bit too thin in the face and warn looking.
Then the band went on break and what returned was "patient" Gerard with that horrid bleached hair. By the time he came to his senses and dyed it dark again, he'd gained a lot of weight and looked puffy (like he did in his old drinking days). He did look attractive at the beginning of PR, but his attitude ruined that completely. After that tour was over, I think he's looked like shit ever since.
And regardless of what the fangirls say, he has aged. His chin and jawline are much weaker and he is getting smoker's lines on the side of his face when he smiles. Right now proper photography and lighting can compensate, but that's not going to work much longer. In two years I'd say he's going to be looking rough.
Then it'll be the county fair circuit for them.
Gerard sounded better back then too. No, he's never sounded great live, but at least he could get through the first few songs without getting so out of breath. Ray didn't help out nearly as much back then as he does now. In those Summersonic performances Ray's singing is much stronger than Gerard's (although not in great harmony).
I also think when they overdubbed TBPID they not only altered Gerard's voice some, but they probably brought Ray in up the volume of his background vocals. They even have Frank singing more and louder now. I guess they figure Gerard needs all the help he can get.
I'm perplexed that more people haven't realized this. Surely we can't be the only ones.

I just went to BN for laughs (hadn't been there in ages) and I noticed that there are only three or four people who post/comment/reply on every thread. What happened to all the people there? Did they just get tired of Voluptuosity running the show or are they sick of MCR or both?
I know a few people on lj who are still fans of MCR, but they don't comment on any MCR comms and they took all their MCR interests off their profiles because they don't want to be associated with that fandom and its crazies anymore.
^Just wanted to add that most of my old lj friends from MCR comms aren't fans of the band anymore. A lot of them deleted their old ljs and either left completely or started new journals because they didn't want anything to remind them of their MCR fan days.

First of all why are all the active KOL communities on lj moderated and is it impossible to get in? I have a lot of old MCR connections and I'm afraid they'll hold it against me. I think the mods are just trying to keep out trolls. If you have an active lj that isn't new (with friends and a decent comment count) they'll probably let you in. I don't think they really look at the communities you belong to or who your friends are.

If you've read Nathan's twitter you know by now that those articles are just British tabloid bullshit. If half the things the British press has said about the Kings over the years were true, they would have broken up a long time ago.

MSI certainly doesn't seem to be in any hurry to make a new record. Jimmy seems content to hang out and see if Morningwood's new CD will bring in the bucks and Lindsey seems happy to let Gerard support her while she plays house and hangs out in her "art studio".
I do think all the "vote for Morningwood on VH1's Top Twenty Countdown" campaigning is a little embarrassing though. Especially when Chantal made her own thread on VH1's site asking people to vote for her. It's like these people don't have any dignity at all.
