lol Looks like he got the message 11:03, and he fixed it.
Basic plot: one of the UA members has to travel through time to assassinate JFK, meaning he in essence too Harvey Lee Oswald's place. He had to commit the assassination because if he didn't the UA would not exist because world history would have taken a completely different course.
At least that's what I got from it, it was quite convoluted.
And now with summing that up, I think it's just as bad that he used it as a plot tool. Like someone said, it's sacred.
Honestly, I was put off by the plotline of Dallas. I felt it was disrespectful as well. It felt very different from the way it was done in Watchmen, but it was still just a piece of history that was being used as a plot device for a story. It happens all of the time.
This picture is different. It seems to be nothing more than an exercise in vanity for those two: a chance for them to dress up and play pretend in front of the camera. It just seems wrong to me.
I only read bits and pieces of Dallas, but didn't The Rumor somehow wind up in the car with JFK and she told him that she "heard a rumor" that the back of his head exploded?

The problem is that the picture isn't 'art'. It's his author photo for TUA and Lynz is using it as her twitter background. It wasn't created to provoke a discussion about the JFK assasination and representations of it in the media - it was created for Gerard to get some attention, and Lynz is using it as her twitter background to also get some attention for herself.
I find it really distasteful that she's using it as her twitter background, it's still an incredibly sensitive subject and she's using it for twitter.
The problem isn't the picture itself, other artists have done far worse, it's the context and the shameless way the JFK assasination is being used by those two to get attention for themselves and Gerard's comic.

He put himself there and he was the one shouting his mouth off about how the band considered fans as friends, how women should be treated, how homophobia and rascism and sexism and violence sickened him and the rest of the band.

Madonna has always fallen into the genre of pop music. Yes, she's changed over the years and yes, she reinvented herself somewhat. But essentially, she stayed the same person and projected the same persona.

Gerard isn't as smart or as business savvy as Madonna. Nor has MCR ever been nor will they ever be as popular.

To reinvent oneself is not the same as jumping from genre to genre on almost every album. Madonna tried out different looks rather than different music genres. She mixed things up music-wise and therefore remained fresh and exciting to her fans, but she was always a pop artist.
Besides, Madonna is in the business for about 25 years unlike MCR who are only successful in the mainstream music business for 5 years.

Gerard was never nominated specifically. The first series was nominated for Best Limited (and won), but Gerard never got a best writer nomination.
TUA Dallas itself didn't get nominated in 2009. The artists, colorists and cover artists awards and noms were for several different comics, not just TUA alone.

12:10 - I'm not American. I'm English. I just watched a mini serise on Jackie Kennedy. I did touch on JFK, Cuba and The Bay of Pigs briefly in year 9 history but nothing so indepth as his nickname.
Actually, a large amount of my history topic in seconday school were based on either American history (Native Americans, Colonial time and JFK) Russian history (Tsar Nicholas II and Tsarina Alexandria, The Russian Revolution, Stalin, Lenin) The Automobile and the World Wars and their impact on medicines and technology.
It's so sad that I still remember that. I suppose it just depends on which ciriculum (sp?) you get.

That sounds so much better then what I had. I did a little bit of Egypt in primary school, but at that level you aren't taught much.
The sad thing is that Gerard and Lindsey are American and they would have been taught about JFK in school. Also, Gerard's parents are old enough to remember the assassination. Gerard actually spoke once about his grandmother being a lifelong Democrat, so I feel quite certain that she was extremely affected by the event.

My mother was six when it happened. She had stayed home from school that day because she had been sick the day before. My grandparents owned a small grocery store and since she was feeling better, my mom went into work with her mom that day.
She said that the news of the shooting came on the radio and that afterwards, everyone in the place, customers and employees alike, stayed transfixed to the radio. She remembers that when they actually announced that the President was dead that there was an elderly man in the store who actually broke down and cried. She said her mom (my grandmother) cried too.
My mother can't tell this story without shedding a tear or two herself.

I don't think Gerard or Lindsey care how many people they offend so long as the fangirls continue to follow along with blinders. While they may embarass the hell out of him when it comes to his peers he does have to realize that they are his bread and butter. Do you really think they wouldn't find this blog? No matter what, people will either post as anonymous or make blogger accounts and post VV's URL over there to lead the loons to this blog. People from the LJ community can also log in if you would disable anon comments and could post VV's URL and a lot of fan sheep have an LJ account.
I don't think that your blog will distract them from this one.
Also, many fans are either commenting on the BN MCR forums or at least lurk there. I guess they know about this place, but most likely are afraid to post here since we and our opinion about MCR display the majority on this blog.

I think that the people only find out about others tweeting Gerard and his lot if they actually get a reply from then. I doubt that we will get a reply. They will either read the blog and block us or they will not read the blog and blog us anyway.

The scene in Watchmen was pretty accurately depicted. It was shot from far away. You couldn't really see the actors faces or anything. Also, it was not terribly graphic. If anything it looked like footage from a news camera.
Also, it was not an exercise in vanity and it wasn't exploiting the incident in order to sell something.
