Why are we not surprised?

So Gerard and Lindsey have a child and in true Hollywood style they named their new accessory "Bandit".

There's some psychology of feeling like a child is a pet, or just wanting to fit in with the "cool" crowd behind this but I'm not up to figuring it out.

What do you guys think?

I understand MCR's appeal to younger audiences and I do appreciate them for what they are, just as I appreciate MSI for being a novelty act and nothing more. I do believe Bullets and Revenge were honest attempts at creating something unique and different and I still listen to them sometimes. But I believe this album will be simialr to TBP. Radio friendly singles wrapped in the emo pinup boy image. Exactly what every 15 year old hot topic mall rat is looking for.

THIS.

I remember the time circa 04 or early 05 when MCR was really awesome. Most of their fans are college students and young adults but after Warped Tour suddenly there's an influx of little Avril with smokey eyes everywhere.

I agree with you, its all about looks, and not so much about the music for them teenies. If you went to MCR fan board (i.e INO) you'll see that most users have Jonas Bros. related nickname and avatar now( suprisingly they dont leave INO because 70% of the INO's content is not related to MCR anyway).BTW, this is probably against what this blog is all about but I hope MCR will gain their old followers back. In my opinion, MCR have good music and unless these fans go away, they can never be taken too seriously by real alt. rock music fans.

It will never happen. They sacrificed their credibility eons ago.

Hi Everyone,

I'm here to randomly rant. Feel free to ignore me.

Ewww. One of the women visiting my office has a daughter being tested for Swine Flu - and she came in anyway!! I'm going to have to disinfect the office later.

I hope her daughter's okay though. I just don't she should have risked coming in and potentially infecting the people here considering we have over 50 people a day in here - not including staff.

How exactly do you think they managed to get a headlining spot at Reading/Leeds?

Is Billie Joe on those covers now? I know he was back in the American Idiot Days. I've only seen Twilight guys and the JoBros on them lately.

can't remember the title of it.. but i do remember flipping through it to read the article. I think it's funny though, they pissed a lot people of with American Idiot, however those fans have come back since with 21st Century Breaksown's release. They've also lost a lot of the fans that jumped on board with American Idiot... mainly teeny boppers who have since moved on to Fall Out Boy or some other teeny craze

MCR is known for being a terrific live band. Only haters think they aren't. I hope they play right before The Kings of Leon and everybody leaves after MCR's set.

They'll probably play right before the headliner blow them out of the water. Wait and see.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You seriously need to see one of KOL's live performance videos. They could (to paraphrase Caleb from the song My Party) flip Gerard upside-down and they could mop up the stage with him.

Here is a live performance of the band from the Rock Werchter festival two years ago. This is completely live. No overdubbing, no autotune. If you have the attention span, listen to Caleb's vocals. Listen to how his voice jumps an octave when he sings the lines "Too drunk to" at 2:07 and "I kinda think I do" at 3:05.

He's spot on and perfect and he's playing a guitar. I'd love to see Gerard try to sing and play an instrument at the same time. That would be hilarious.

Not hard rocking and fast enough for you? Watch this performance of Slow Night So Long. Once again, completely live and spot on.

MCR can only dream of being this good onstage.

From our good friend Frances. Probably the most flat-out attention seeking tweet I've seen from a celeb.
Why they tweet their famous friends, with a good chance of them not seeing it, rather than privately texting them is beyond me. Unless they are doing it to make their followers jealous of all the pretty people they pal around with.

Of course that's why they do it. The whole bunch of them, including Mikey, are just like the WMHC. They go around name dropping on twitter as if to say, "Oh, look at me and how cool I am. I talk to all these famous people." Only the "famous people" they talk to are really just a bunch of wannabes. If they were as OMG FAMOUS as they pretend to be, they wouldn't have the need to act like they do.

Gofackadawg is now private just like Lilacwizard. I'm sure she'll get lots of asskissing tweets and open it back up again though....like the time before and her MySpace.

Why is that that Frances "give me loads of attention" Cobain can has two private Twitter accounts but if people like us where to pull that, we'd get booted?

Anonymous said...

maybe it didn't occur to her that she could just make the gofackadawg one private before she made lilacwizard. wouldn't be suprised.

Anonymous said...

Frances's Myspace has a huge paragraph of bands. She lists MSI but not MCR. Even she's embarrassed to admit she likes them and she's friends with them.
She also unfollowed every MCR guy except Gerard and Ray.

Anonymous said...

I don't know why she stopped following Mikey, but I really don't see Bob and Frank liking her around much, if they like her at all. There must be some reason they never played her birthday. I think Ray's to nice to dislike anyone and if he does, he'd certainly never say anything. I could be wrong though.

maybe it didn't occur to her that she could just make the gofackadawg one private before she made lilacwizard. wouldn't be suprised.

Yes, her IQ doesn't seem to be that high does it?

Anonymous said...

Oh I forgot about Mikey. She's following him.

Anonymous said...

For some reason Bob and Frank strike me as the two most adult-minded of the band. Not saying much seeing who their competition is though. Gerard and Mikey are eternally stuck as teenagers and Ray seems obsessed with music and gadgets. The other two might be asses but they at least seem more mature than the others. Frank and Bob can probably stand their bandmates, but they'd probably get tired of hanging around kids, especially ones as obnoxious as Frances.

Anonymous said...

I thought that was a bit odd. The Way Bros are the asses she mainly kisses.

Has anyone else seen Chantel kissing up to Ray on Twitter? Very sad.

Anonymous said...

12:46 - agreed. Think hanging out with Frances would probably irritate the shit out of Frank and Bob.

Anonymous said...

From what I've heard, the MSI and even the Morningwood fan bases are starting to get that MCRmy nazi edge. In some circles you can't talk bad on any MSI music or even Tour Crush, Chantal's clothing line. Those that don't agree just shut up.

Really leaves me wondering if all the MCR fans that spilled over into these other areas had something to do with it.

Anonymous said...

mcr is like a disease and it infects everything it touches

Anonymous said...

Oh, they're infidels, how dare they blaspheme a band. They want to keep their cult, I mean fanbase, to guarantee future revenue. Maybe you need more "hate" blogs.

Anonymous said...

I think MSI has had it's fair share of diseases.

Anonymous said...

LMFAO.

Someone should report Frances for having more then one Twitter.

Anonymous said...

Hello everyone!

First of all, I want to thank that nice anon, who complimented me on my english speaking skills. Thank you very much. You are very kind!
You are right, I'm not a native speaker and I think I could do much better, but again, thank you! *blushes*

As for reporting Frances to the Twitter staff for having two profiles; I just wanted to say that I read somewhere that Tila Tequila asked people on Twitter to unfollow Perez Hilton's Twitter profile because of his vitriolic post about Michael Jackson allegedly faking an illness to avoid having to fulfil his contractual commitments of performing in London's 02 arena fifty times in a row.
Tila had to remove her tweets because of Perez reporting her to the Twitter staff.
Apparently, Perez causes a lot of traffic on Twitter - a lot more than Tila - and that's why they forced her to stop 'harrassing' him.
I think the Twitter staff won't even care about people reporting Frances to them, as long as the people reporting her aren't as or even more popular on that site as Frances herself.
That's also why nobody of them gave a shit when Bob uploaded his 'artwork'.
Those people make a lot of teens come to Twitter and create profiles so that they're able to interact with them.
They can do as they please.
Survival of the twittest! :/

Whats wrong with being obsessed with music and gadgets? I met lots of men in their late 20s to 30s, from workplace and at home (my brother, husband and their friends) and all I can say that 90% of them are obsessed with music and gadget that they read Wired and T3 like their own personal Bible.

ok i admitt it myself i'm obsessed with Green Day but i can't find anything where they mention MCR other then the announcements where they announce that they're touring together. I found something on Fall Out Boy and Good Charlotte and Blink-182 but there seems to be nothing on MCR, although the only reason i was thinking about this is becuase Tre Cool said that they had bands(opening for them) that they would actually go out an see themselves.

Anonymous said...

Luv the tittle of Frank's new blog my good friends are in great bands and made great records. Wonder if he's having a dig at somebody?

Anonymous said...

MCR got a huge boost when Green Day took them out on the road with them. There were pictures of them posing with Green Day all over the place. Because they were such good friends and Green Day were there biggest supporters, right?

Wrong.

MCR and Green Day are on the same record label. I think Warner/Reprise saw MCR and thought "Here is our next Green Day. We'll promote the shit out of these guys and we'll have another ten million seller like American Idiot."

I remember reading articles about MCR back then that talked about how they were different enough to satisfy teenagers' need to seem rebellious, yet safe enough not to put off parents and androgynous enough not to be sexually threatening to pre-teen girls. Obviously, Warner thought they had hit the jackpot with MCR.

So what went wrong? I think a lot of it was the MCRmy. Sane music fans were put off by hordes of black-clad, raccoon-eyed, barely literate teenage girls who went around proclaiming that the band "SAVED MY LYFE!!1!11" and who followed along blindly like a bunch of little Nazis.

Of course, MCR contributed to this by playing along in the beginning. I think by the time they realized what was happening, it was too late for them to do anything about it. Now the members seem disillusioned and angry (Frank, Bob, Gerard) or determined to put things right (Ray) or just fucking clueless as ever (Mikey).

I feel sorry for them. I probably shouldn't, but I do.

Anonymous said...

They never should have used the term "army." Their fans took that waaay too seriously.

I used to be part of the "Used Nation" back in my teeange years, and although it gave me and other members a sense of solidarity, we didn't feel like we were at war with non-fans or anything like that.

Anonymous said...

we talk about the MCrmy and Used Nation but i must admit the followers of 30stm are perhaps some of the nicest fans i have ever met or ran into a mob of

Anonymous said...

What do 30stm fans call themselves? Is it the echelon? I don't hang out on 30stm fansites or anything, but I've met some of their hardcore fans at shows and they seem very devoted and very nice.

I seem to remember people on MCR sites accusing them of cheating at a poll (Kerrang, maybe?) because 30stm beat out MCR (because, you know, there's no way any other band could beat MCR unless the other band's fans cheat *rolls eyes*).

Anonymous said...

At the time they toured together I thought MCR and Green Day really were friends, but they don't seem to have kept in contact and neither band mentions the other ever.

That makes me wonder about the so-called best friendship between MCR and TBS. They're on the same label too.

Somehow it makes me feel better about TBS to think that they really aren't friend with MCR.

Anonymous said...

i heard those too, i also heard recently too that KEvin Lyman had been really pissed off with them when they did warped tour

Anonymous said...

I heard that exact same thing 6:33

And that's weird 7:05, there's this video on youtube where Kevin is praising MCR and saying how they would be that year's (2004) breakout success. But who knows what could've happened in 05.

I seem to recall reading something from a few years back where mcr (Gerard) was proud that they pissed so many people off and were the "scourge" of the rock world. But I think that was before they'd gotten a taste of real mainstream success. Now I bet they wish they could take it all back and just kiss ass like everyone else.

Lastly I'm not sure about TBS. I thought I remember that they toured together before MCR was big, when TBS was bigger than them. And then Adam and Gerard were chummy on PR. So I think they're actual friends. Or at least were, I haven't heard anything from either camp about the other since 07. Maybe Gerard's too hardcore for TBS now.

Anonymous said...

6:29 I saw a picture of Bob and Ville and some other band and tech guys on PR. Doesn't mean your statement is false though. I would have said Ville did it for good publicity, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who cares much about that.

==========

TBS played on a few concerts with MCR at the end of that last tour, like the Garden and a few shows before that. There was a vid with Adam where he was talking about it and how they were happy to get to play with MCR again. That was just last year so they seem to be friends for real?

Anonymous said...

Like someone pointed out, TBS and MCR are on the same label and they were friends starting out. But, that doesn't mean that they truly like one another. Also, you only see Adam doing the interviews with MCR, never the other guys.

The whole "zomg, we're such good friends" thing could very well be label generated publicity and they use TBS because they're the only band who is still speaking to MCR.

Also, I feel terrible pity for Frances Bean. With a "mother" like that, she never had a chance. I believe she tried, and will probably continue to try, for some time. But Courtney Loathe is a soul-sucking ogre.

Re: The Echelon: Most of them are super, super nice. And 30 is a very peaceful band (regardless of their new "the war is coming" stuff; it's because their new album is called "This Is War," probably due to their legal troubles.)

Echelon folks are mostly cool and level-headed about their faves.

However there are some old-skewl echelon who hate anyone new (as in any fandom,) and let me tell you, some of the old-skewl male "echelon" are just raging alpha males trying to have a test-fest.

A few years ago on the 30 board, a group of those alpha males went on a rampage, with nothing but disgusting racist jokes and telling every female who asked them to stop that they were going to get raped, and other horrible things.

Well, a few of us complained. And eventually the band came on, re-did the board, changed mods, and put a huge message up saying that this kind of thing was not funny, and it was everything the band stood against.

I was pretty proud of them then.

But yeah, most Echelon people, the ones that I've met at some concerts, are really nice and very helpful.

Anonymous said...

I feel sorry for the poor little girl who came round here a few days ago talking about how MCR is more popular than the bands headlining Leeds/Reading this year.

Sweetie, if you read this, you need to understand something:

The internet is not the world.

For example, if you live on internet message boards and places like BN and lj, you would get the idea that most teenagers and young people are planning on being artists/writers/etc. and are planning to study art and english in college or become tattoo artists or musicians. That's just not true.

I go to a major university and most of the kids I know are studying businesss/marketing/accounting/finance/etc. They all listen to Radiohead, KoL, Motion City Soundtrack and various indie bands.

INO, chemicalromance and BN are like some dark outposts in cyberspace that nobody in the real world knows (or gives a fuck) about.

Their "innocent" illusions are fine until they start attacking others for their opinions. One day they might say the wrong thing to the wrong person. Emos in Mexico were getting the shit beaten out of them not so long ago, remember?

When I met them at TOC a couple of years ago they weren't wearing surgical gloves, although Jared did come out on stage in scrubs, a lab coat and a surgical mask. He took off the lab coat and surgical mask before he started singing. Oh and at one point during the set he ran all around the arena and smacked hands with fans who could reach him. He also walked out into the crowd (like crowd surfing, but he remained on his feet and the crowd held him up). It was amazing.

Anonymous said...

You think he told the audience to jack him off?

-cough-

Anonymous said...

I've never seen them wearing the gloves when I met them, but I know they did. However it was because they were sick, not the fans.

I saw the crowd-walking thing, too. It's amazing. I felt bad though, because some people ripped Jared's shirt off. He kept asking them to keep their hands to themselves, but you know how fangirls are. He went backstage and tried to duct tape his shirt back together before giving up.

They're really a bunch of nice guys. I've seen people go way, way, WAY overboard with them and get totally out of line, and when that happens, they just retreat for a while. But usually they have a smile and a "thank you" for most everyone.

Once, Jared sat on top of the bus after the concert and had an impromptu sing-along of From Yesterday.

They are just a lot of fun. :)

I've been on lj since 03 and I've seen a lot of those innocent kids make really stupid mistakes because they believe in things that aren't real. One girl dropped out of college and went to New York, hoping to become a "suicide girl." You can imagine how well that worked out. Another one decided she wanted to be a body-piercing techician and that it didn't require her to finish high-school. Only, it turned out that their wasn't anybody in her town willing to let her apprentice. Last I spoke to her, she was working at Walmart part-time as a cashier. And then, you have the aspiring Lyn-Z types who are busy practicing their backbends holding a bass.

What these kids need to believe in is themselves and the value of education. Not some bullshit that gets spouted by an idiot like Gerard Way and his skeezy wife.

Off topic but I met BJ a few months ago after a FHT gig he played in Islington straight after a 3 hour Green Day gig. The FHT gig lasted about 90 mins and he genuinely seemed to be having so much fun he didn't want to stop. They even started playing some of their songs two or three times (FHT don't really have a lot of material and most songs are only 2 minutes long)

It was incredible to think that only half an hour before the FHT gig which was in a tiny venue with a capacity of 200, that he had been up on stage at Wembley playing in front of about 12,000 people. He was so down to earth, he was joking around with us and treated us as people he had just met at a bar and not like fans. (I am in my 20s so that may have something to do with it) He was not standoffish at all, in fact he was very friendly, and complimented my hair, although he was very very drunk and maybe that's why he was so relaxed, but he hung out with us after the gig and chatted with us at the bar. He even crowdsurfed at one point. I can't imagine Gerard having that kind of stamina or enjoyment of what is, essentially, his job.

I never thought I'd get to meet BJ, so to hang out with him while he was so relaxed and friendly, pretty much made my year.

Pfft. I was 4 pound 1 when i was born. My mother did everything right so that point is ridiculous. If you dont like baby names then just call your kids different names. Please do not go aiming at a BABY. Some shit about being a whore or something? Out of order.

You're just as bad as the people you're calling up.

Plus with these quotes from Gerard Way please source them. Because its quite clear you're editing them to add "!!!" and "fucking" Thank god none of you have fooled us all.
