So Gerard and Lindsey have a child and in true Hollywood style they named their new accessory "Bandit".
There's some psychology of feeling like a child is a pet, or just wanting to fit in with the "cool" crowd behind this but I'm not up to figuring it out.

Good point. I respect him not whoring out his child like he did his marriage. But it's gotten to the point where it's concerning. I don't think anyone in the band has mentioned Bandit, aside from Mikey's re-tweet and Ray's passing mention of "babydaddy stuff". I do appreciate not having him gushing about every miniscule detail like a lot of new parents do. But a simple ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of her existence would be nice. He hasn't said anything public since Kerrang early this year.

I posted a comment on this journal but that was more about explaining the opposite of this viewpoint and not really where the hate came from. For anyone wanting a looksy- here.
Where did the hate come from? It's quite hilarious really. There is a blog posted a few places on the net. Here, it's on the Gerard Way forum. A manipulative masterpiece of scorn. The lines for which readers are to compare good vs. evil are pieces of the truth/interviews from MCR, stacked against some entertainment characteristics from MSI.
Here is a topic I made on a community that's purpose is to set the record straight on what fans may be confused/debating/fighting over. It reveals the hate blog for what it always was... a constructed plan to turn fans away from the band with Gerard as the centerpiece.
^Why? Because upon learning that Gerard and Lyn-z were an item, the only explanation haters were willing to accept and dispatch to the masses (in hopes of converting more haters) in regards to why MSI and MCR would EVER, in the same universe, tour together, would be because of Gerard's penis. Blunt, plain and simple. Meaning if Gerard were never interested in Lyn-z, then MSI would never have been on tour with MCR. BUT when people would mention Gerard having a right to be in a relationship with anyone he prefers regardless of professional ordeals, the people supporting the hate blog, would say the bands personal lives had no toll over their opinion. Either way, the haters were basically hating because they wanted MCR to be MCR 111% of the time. Not allowing them to be real people that were true to themselves on any level fans found discomforting. It would be better if the guys in My Chem were like controlled robots who weren't allowed to run off program.
Popularity, high record sales, whatever. It's a Gerard thing.
It's no secret that Gerard is seen as the bands mascot for obvious reasons, being the frontman/spokesperson and all. The man who once thrived of off self-isolation, depression and orbited around life-less living is now a happily married, responsible, successful, happy and more mature adult.
The changes that happened with him have stirred talk of group changes due to his somewhat 'ring leader' status. Who Gerard has become in his personal life to the person fans thought they knew him to be are polar opposites, so they say. How much of an artist' personal life should be taken into consideration when examining the professional is irrelevant, I believe. Some don't and feed off of their past perception of Gerard to measure him today and cross examine the band according to those pros and cons.
Gerard who once "did not believe in marriage" and "didn't need a piece of paper to prove his love for someone", is a husband and father today. That clash of morals doesn't sit well with some and they're determined to make theater out of it's very existence and whoever be responsible for changing Gerard, some fans have decided, has too much persuasion over the image of Gerard Way for fans to just sit comfortably robbed. It's easier to connect to the guy that's depressed as most of his followers were/are. He no longer is and those followers have a grudge to build up and a frown to sport.

I believe that. I don't believe MCR are making that much money, and like you said, unlike FOB, they're not that well known. Bands generally don't make a lot of money when it comes to albums, considering that they make only probably a few cents for each CD that's sold, unless you're AC/DC or KISS, or case in point, FOB.
I've heard a lot of rumours about the Black Parade tour barely breaking even. The pyro, the elaborate stage setup, the multiple tour buses, all the techs they took with them - that had to cost a bundle. Who fronted that money to the band? The record company.
Then there were the elaborate videos for Helena and GOY, which had to cost a fortune. I've heard Warner advanced the band the money for those vids against future additional sales of Three Cheers plus future sales of the next record (TBP). Warner obviously thought TBP was going to be huge (American Idiot huge) and they came out of the gate with two really expensive videos (WTTBP and FLW), which put the band further into debt.
Sales from TBPID and that ridiculous Venganza vest are probably going towards paying Warner back what the band still owes them.
Granted, this is all speculation, but there's a possibility that the members of MCR are in actual financial trouble.
Maybe that's why they keep saying that this next record will be really stripped down, when in fact they have no choice. The record company woudln't be able to throw money at them like before anyway, what with the recession.
I think that TBP was built up by the media and the fans to be greater than what it was, and that it gave the band this over inflated opinion of themselves, when in fact it wasn't that great. It was good, but not as amazing as people made it out to be. What really annoys me at the moment, is that Gerard hasn't acknowledged the baby in any way on their webisite, you would think he would have said something along the lines of thank-you for everyone's support and good wishes, or something like that. If he has time to go to parties with Amanda Palmer I'm sure he has five minutes to say something. Or even five monutes to scribble something down to give to their web guy to post. He seems to think he is more than what he is, that he's better than other people, that he doesn't have to be considerate or polite.

No, I don't think it's an awesome name. Hot and talented? I don't know about that; I do know she will be a product of her environment, so her parents have a responsibility to instill ethics and values from a young age. Which means that they might not have earned that much money in America as FOB, but made up for it by being more popular in Europe and probably also other countries in the world.

I'm the original anon and I think you misunderstood me. I do not want or expect Gerard to post about Bandit. I do not want to know if she's on solid food yet, or when she can crawl. What I do expect is some acknowledgement of the genuine good wishes sent to him by the fans. They support him in everything he does, they make videos about him, they buy their crap. They spend their free time twittering him and posting on bn, and a lot of what they are posting is about the baby. I think he should acknowledge them, thank them or at least say something, even if it's about peg warmers.
I think dealing with fans lost it's appeal for Gerard a long time ago.I don't think the others in the band care that much either.

Hmm, I don't know in which world you're living, but the way music artists are perceived by others (be it fellow music artists or even fans of other bands/solo artists) has a lot to do with what following they have.

You can't publically state that one of your main reasons of having started a band is fighting homophobia and misogyny in the rock music business and then be totally surprised if your fan base mostly consists of girls/women and gay boys/men. What the fuck?

From finding out if he was gay or straight and so on. It was a forced force of speculation some had to learn to deal with and lots removed themselves from by quitting the sites altogether.
I've heard a lot of people prefer sites like buzznet (which allows more freedom of fan expression) as opposed to controlled and highly monitored blogging on more official MCR sites. My take on the pins is that somebody in management/the record label/the band told him what an idiot he was making of himself with the sharpie messages to Lindsey, so he stopped, but he replaced them with the pins as an act of "rebellion". IDLY sucked pretty hard when it was first conceived, but they changed the lyrics and I do actually like that song a lot. TWIU has a nice melody, so I'll reserve judgement til I hear the end result. The lyrics at the moment do suck ass.

I don't think there's anything special about the melody, but then I didn't like the final product of IDLY either. I also hated Cancer, but apparently a lot of fans liked it? Although, with all the people who bitch about TBP and say they want the band to go back to their earlier sound, I'm wondering how many fans just pretended to like it.

I hated everything about Cancer. I hated how Gerard rolled around onstage when he sang it. I hated the lyrics and how exploitative they seemed. I hated the look he got on his face right after he performed it on SNL - so smug, like he thought he had just discovered the cure for cancer or something. I hated the way he talked about it like it was OMG, the best song ever written by anyone ever! I really think that song was the catalyst for me - the beginning of my realization that he wasn't the person I thought he was.

It seemed like contrived emotion to me - designed to tug at the heartstrings of all the little girls listening to it. It didn't ring true to me at all.
I know a lot of people say that it "helped them" through a period when they lost a loved one to cancer, but for me it was the opposite. I lost a sibling to cancer and whenever I heard the song it just made me angry because it seemed like Gerard was exploiting people's pain.
And yes, I know that's just my opinion, but after all his lies and his fakery, I don't believe he's above that sort of thing.

i never understood why he did that. was he pretending to be dying on the floor or something? i don't know. i didn't like the way he acted on the black parade tour. it was like he was a different person from the one i saw on the revenge tour a year earlier.
apparently somebody is named Bandit Fucking Way on BN as well... poor thing can't catc a break. The lyrics also make GW sound a little insecure in his marriage: "Are you thinking of him?"
