RIP Adam Yauch

I Want To Say a Little Something That's Long Overdue The Disrespect To Women Has Got To Be Through To All The Mothers And Sisters A And The Wives And Friends I Want To Offer My Love And Respect To The End
If only there were more musicians who felt this way instead of degrading women. RIP MCA. OK, there is something else I want to add to this. This article. Like the woman here I am a long time Beastie Boys fan, since the early days. This article talks a lot about the feminism of the Beastie Boys, how they apologized for using slurs in their old songs, and the misogyny still in music today. I think it is well worth the read.
Once you’ve realized that you’re living in a world that believes women are “less than” in every imaginable way, one of the things that can be most frustrating is that very few men get it. You want the people in your life, the men you care about, to understand the awful toll it can take on you. Operating in a world that sees you as less than fully human can be soul crushing—but it’s also incredibly lonely. When you speak up about any sense of unfairness or injustice, you’re told that you’re overreacting, you’re too angry, too silly—shut up already. It takes a tremendous amount of fortitude to be able to live in this world as a woman, let alone a woman who wants things to change. And that’s what was so remarkable and emotional about the Beastie Boys’ feminist turnaround. Maybe your father says sexism doesn’t exist and your boyfriend disrespects you. Maybe you have to deal with assholes on the subway who rub up against you every day and laugh when you yell at them. But listening to this band that you love so much say that your pain is real, that the world is fucked up and that they are not going to participate in actions that hurt you anymore because they care about you—it was the overwhelming feeling of being made visible. They were sending a clear message to their female fans: This isn’t okay, we have your back, we’re sorry. It was the apology we never got from the high school teacher who stared at our breasts, the acknowledgement of injustice that politicians and American culture dance around—and it was coming from people whom we cared about and respected, people with cultural power. Hearing the Beastie Boys speak out against sexism made me feel like if these men who had once sung about getting girls to “do the laundry” and “clean up my room” could understand, maybe the rest of the world would follow suit. It made me hopeful in the best way.

I get tired of all the Brits in movies

Wow, really? What possible difference could it make where an actor is from? It sounds like you have some type of irrational bias going on.

Tom Hiddleston is ugly, BendyDick Cumberwhatsits is beyond ugly and they all come off as pompous douchebags

Obviously, tastes regarding people's looks are quite subjective. What's ugly to you is not universal. I happen to find Tom Hiddleston very attractive, but of course you are entitled to your opinion. What I fail to see is how either his or Mr. Cumberbatch's looks are relevant to their acting abilities.

As for Woody Allen, I'm not going to defend his relationship with Mia Farrow's adopted daughter, other than to say that she was never adopted by Woody Allen. Her father was Andre Previn. I find the whole matter pretty distasteful myself, but it happened over 20 years ago, and he's still married to Sun-Yi. Regardless, it doesn't affect the quality of his films. Midnight in Paris is delightful, and I'm glad I saw it.

I also heard that Warhorse had its moments of silliness. One of my friends who is an equestrian was just like, "Umm, NO. THAT IS NOT HOW YOU HORSE." But I might give it a go if it's got great actors in it. Sometimes awesome acting can save a boring script, I think.

You're right, the whole storyline of War Horse was very silly. But the cinematography was breathtaking, and all of the performances were spot on. I don't think the script was boring at all, just unrealistic. In my opinion, War Horse's merits outweigh its flaws and it's definitely worth seeing.

I think they're both pretty cute, but I have this thing that once someone shows some intense talent, I'm immediately attracted. "Thor" wasn't a hugely deep movie for me; it was highly entertaining and well-acted. Hiddleston's performance of Loki was nuanced enough to get my attention.

Cumberbatch in Tinker Tailor? Oh my god. Tears.

"The Brits" are generally fine actors and this is coming from a non Brit.

One of the best opening lines ever. (Although, I think the opening line of Neuromancer will always be my favorite)

I love that book sooo much! One of my top ten books.

Welshie said...

Thank you Kapunua, Miss T and Anons for your kind comments. My niece is so cute. Her name is Rhiannon, named after my mam. I was quite surprised at how emotional I felt when I heard her name. Wasn't expecting that.

Any Brits here? Did ya enjoy your Jubilee weekend? I'm not a fan of the Monarchy so I didn't take part in any celebrations. Still, 'twas nice to have an extra day off work, so thanks for that Queenie.

kapunua said...

Rhiannon is one of my favorite names ever. Gorgeous! It's funny, I was watching Torchwood with my Ma a while back and I mentioned that I thought it was really cool, that in Wales (or at least Welsh TV) you still see lots of actual Welsh names, like Rhys and Gwen, Carys, Geraint, Anwen, Rhiannon etc. I just love those names.

And of course, nonnies, you know I just loves me some Neuromancer. :D

Hiya guys, how are you all?

That's a beautiful Welsh name, I'm sure she's such a cutie.

Any Brits here? Did ya enjoy your Jubilee weekend? I'm not a fan of the Monarchy so I didn't take part in any celebrations. Still, 'twas nice to have an extra day off work, so thanks for that Queenie.

We went to a garden centre on Tuesday and a nearby ice cream van was selling big jubilee ice creams and mum said of course we all had to have one to be patriotic, gotta do your bit for Queen and country you know LOL.

Anonymous said...

Kapunua, just out of curiosity, what are your top ten books?

You don't need to answer if you don't want to.

Anonymous said...

Tom Hiddleston is NOT ugly.

kapunua said...

Oh man, anon. That is so hard. I can't really put them in any specific order because my favorite changes all the time. But let's see.

Lord Of Light - Zelazny

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - Adams

Dark Tower series (can I name a whole series? If not, I pick Drawing of the Three)

Neuromancer and Pattern Recognition (can they count as one? :) ) - Gibson

The Sicilian - Puzo

Prodigal Summer - Kingsolver

The Pillow Book - Sei Shonagon

Peter Pan - JM Barrie

In Search of Schrodinger's Cat - Gribbon

Hawk Of May - Bradshaw (actually the whole trilogy)

Education of Oversoul Seven - Roberts

And a ton by Shakespeare because I can't help myself.

How about you, nonny? Or anyone else? Top ten, or anything you want to recommend?

kapunua said...

Also, two series I also loved were the Dragonlance books, (not all, but a fair number,) and of course Harry Potter.

Anonymous said...

What Kapunua!

No Fifty Shades of Grey???

;););)

kapunua said...

Hahahahaaaaa ^____^

Anonymous said...

I must be one of the very few people on this earth not to have read a Harry Potter book.

Don't know if that's a good or bad thing :/

Anonymous said...

My picks in no particular order:

- A Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde

- Atonement - Ian McEwan (poor casting with Kiera imo)

- Pride & Prejudice - Jane Austin

- Perfume - Patrick Suskind (vile ending)

- Julius Caesar - William Shakespeare "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars but in ourselves..."

- The Gods Will Have Blood - Anatole France (great book)

- Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte (love)

- Animal farm -George Orwell - All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others Oh yeah...

- A Handmaiden's Tale - Margaret Atwood

- Neuromancer (more love)/Burning Chrome (short stories, but really good ones) - William Gibson

Anonymous said...

I would love to name my daughter ( if I ever have one) after a Shakespeare character!

kapunua said...

Picture Of Dorian Gray was one that I really wanted to put on my list, but couldn't fit! I love that book!

Also, I love Shakespeare names. If I hadn't already decided on a girl-name, I'd probably be thinking "Beatrice." ^_^

Anonymous said...

I named my cat Tybalt. :)

Anonymous said...

I can't really pick ten favorite books, but I'll make some recommendations based on books I've recently read.

Things Fall Apart -- Chinua Achebe

Middlesex -- Jeffrey Eugenides

Big Machine -- Victor LaValle

I love nearly all the books already mentioned, especially Neuromancer (anything by Gibson, really), Picture of Dorian Gray and Atonement. Also, Shakespeare's histories, many of Stephen King's books (but not all, he's done some clunkers), anything by Nabokov, Fitzgerard, and Dostoevksy.

I honestly could not name my favorite books because I'd be here all day. :)

kapunua said...

King is my favorite, but I have to admit that some of his books are like... Yeah, no. Especially some of the endings. Once in a while it seems that, instead of actually thinking up a conclusion to the story, he's just like "I'M STEPHEN KING. YOU'RE WELCOME."

Still love him though. :)

Anonymous said...

I really fell in love with Stephen King when I read The Dead Zone. Johnny Smith was probably the first character in a book that I had an actual crush on. But yeah, he's done some things that left me cold. I hate when one of his books starts out good and then just fizzles out. Tommyknockers comes to mind. And sometimes he writes something like Dreamcatcher, and you're like ":/ WTF is this nonsense? Shitmonsters from outer space. Okay, we're done, Stephen." But then he comes out with something brilliant and I forgive him.

June 9, 2012 7:36 AM said...

especially Neuromancer (anything by Gibson, really)

I feel the same way, but the two I selected were the standouts that hooked me and now I am completely addicted :)

Anonymous said...

- Atonement - Ian McEwan (poor casting with Kiera imo)

I usually rage when Kiera Knightly is cast in period films. I mean, she's just not right for Eliza Bennett at all. And Anna Karenina? NO! But for some reason I was okay with her in Atonement. Maybe it was because the rest of the cast was so good. Saoirse Ronan and James McAvoy were both both perfect. :)

kapunua said...

Atonement--the book and the movie--made my eyes rain.

OMG, Tommyknockers is probably one of his worst. Yeah, Dreamcatcher was pretty damn bad, too. A few of his were just really forgettable as well. From a Buick 8, Regulators, and a few others that i know I read but genuinely never even bothered to remember.

But the thing is, even when he's bad, he's bad for Stephen King, so it's still better than a lot of what's out there. :)

Anonymous said...

I'm joining this conversation only to say that Kiera Knightly did a kickass job as Eliza Bennett. Few actors can embody such a renowend character without letting someone down. There have been worse people to attempt things. End of.

Your books sound intriguing, Kapunua. I will search some out next time I hit the library. Enjoy your weekend.

kapunua said...

Enjoy, nonny! I saw a few listed up there that I'd never even heard of, so I'll have to check those out, too!

Anonymous said...

But for some reason I was okay with her in Atonement

I liked her slinky green dress. It was beautiful.

Welshie said...

Morning everyone.

Kapunua, Welsh names are still widely used even amongst the non Welsh speaking communities. In fact I'd say that giving your child a Welsh name is more popular than ever. Gareth, Angharad, Nia, Branwen, Megan, Ioan, Myrddin, Manon, Heledd, Lowri...

June 9, 2012 7:11 AM, you're not the only one. I've not read any HP books. I'm not a huge fan of reading. Maybe I should read more, might improve my grammar. I've only seen one HP film, can't remember which one. Gawd sitting still in the cinema for over 2 hours nearly drove me insane mun. I find it difficult to just sit back and relax.

Kapunua, I'm embarrassed to say that I've not even heard of the books in your top ten list. Except for Peter Pan, not read it though, just seen the cartoon when I was a wee thing :)

Ta ra

Welshie said...

Shakespeare does nothing for me. Can't even remember what book I studied for my exams. Think it was the Merchant of Venice. Can't remember a damn thing about it. I blame the teacher :D

Speaking of Peter Pan, I went to see a Peter Pan Pantomime a few years ago. It wasn't brilliant, Aladdin was much better. and then there's my favourite, Jack and the Beanstalk, "Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum". I love, love, love pantomimes.

Oh no you don't

Oh yes I do!!!

Are pantomimes mainly a British thing or do you have them in the USA?

kapunua said...

The book Peter Pan is better than any of the adaptations! It's so much darker and eerier. (Some racism in there that is hard to overlook, but I keep reminding myself that times were different then.)

We've heard of and seen some pantomimes around here, but it's pretty uncommon (at least as far as I'm aware of them.)

OMG, all of those names you listed are so beautiful!

You might suggest a name change for her too.

Anonymous said...

Why do people who claim to have disavowed MCR's music and everything about them still keep names associated with MCR? It makes no sense.

Anonymous said...

I don't think MCR has a patent on the word 'venom'. And as far as the 'three cheers you fooled them all' (hip, hip, hooray), it's a line from The Used song Hospital.

Anonymous said...

Seriously, why are you guys arguing about any of this? I don't see the point. Agree to disagree, ignore or bring up something else that causes less unnecessary friction. No names associated with bands? Is that some kind of joke? What is the goal with any of this topic? Stop fighting just to fight, such a waste of time.

Welshie, so happy for you and your family. Rhiannon is a beautiful name and I've no doubt that she is and will forever be such a blessing for you guys! So lovely that your sister wanted to remember your mam in that way. Really touching of her, but no surprise given what I've seen of you, Welshie. All the very best for you guys and that new little one! :)

And Kapunua, I totally agree about the original Peter Pan. I love that character and world so much. But it is fun sometimes to see what the modern world tries to make of him (or her!). Goodnight everyone.

We'll deal with your hatred for GW and LynZ later. For now we should concentrate on your hatred for Wendy. What did she do to you? What do you think s he did to you?

Anonymous said...

Was what she did real or just imagined? Are you in touch with reality or living in the fantasies, lies and delusions of others?

You can be fixed if only you would let go of the fantasy. Let go of the lies. You can return to reality and become a normal, functioning member of society.

It's all so ridiculous.

I doubt it will be as good as The Avengers though.

I saw Prometheus. I didn't love it, but I liked it. There were some very basic problems with it (some of the characters' reactions were a bit...off), but there were some really great bits too. Loved Fassbender's David. He was perfection. And Noomi Rapace is always amazing.

But anyway, back to The Dark Knight. I do think Bruce will either die or he'll be badly injured and will retire. A lot of people think JGL will take up the mantle as either the new Batman or possibly Nightwing. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see. :)

Anonymous said...

Oh. Saw the trailer for Premium Rush today as well. It looks interesting. JGL has three movies coming out this summer. He certainly gets a lot of work.

Oh, nuts! I was gonna go out and see Prometheus - I didn't know Fassbender was in it! Can't even stand that! I alternately heard that the movie was awesome and brilliant, and that it sucked.

What are some other good options to see with someone else? A good "night out" movie. MIB3? That sounds pretty fun.

As far as TDKR, I'm not going to see that the second it comes out, either, no matter how tempting. I hate going to a crowded movie theater. Me, I will also wait until it's been out a week or two, then try to get a matinee, perhaps.

I find Great Dismal and the people that follow his twitter very thought provoking and interesting, Kapunua.

I think you should see Prometheus, Kapunua. It's great for generating discussion. I saw it with my daughter, and we haven't stopped talking about it since.

As for Fassbender, he's a great actor and an amazing screen presence. I know the story circulating about him, and while I do think we as women should support other women, the circumstances surrounding the allegations made against him are a bit suspect. There is reasonable doubt, and while he may very well be guilty, I don't know for sure, so I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt. I would do that for any other human being, regardless of their sex.

I know some people who won't see Tom Hardy films because they claim he left his pregnant girlfriend for Charlotte Riley. My feelings are that you don't know what goes on in a relationship. I've had exes tell lies about me, and I would hate for them to have a bearing on my career.

Fassbender's star is rising, and he's going to be in some amazing films. I think you would be doing yourself a disservice if you choose to deprive yourself of them, based on dropped accusations made by an ex.

Anonymous said...

When my ex and I divorced, he tried to get custody of the kids by saying I was physically abusive to both him and my kids when he really just didn't want to pay child support. Luckily the kids were old enough to tell the truth, but it turned into a huge battle and cost me a lot of money and heartache because my ex claimed I was coaching the kids. Now the divorce is final and he has visitation but he's too busy with his new wife to even spend time with his kids.

Sometimes people do awful things when relationships break up.

Anonymous said...

^True. I know so many couples who put their children right in the middle of their breakups. They use them to hurt one another, no matter how harmful that is to the children.

I also know people who file police reports just to get back at an ex. One (ex)friend of mine admitted to me that she pressed charges against her fiance for supposedly hitting her, just to get back at him for breaking up with her.

I don't understand women like that. It's hard enough to prove domestic abuse without idiots like her making real cases even harder to prove. It makes me rage.

kapunua said...

She could be telling the truth. I hate it when people assume that the woman is lying. He's obviously the one in power: culturally, monetarily, in every single way. It would be simple enough for him to make it seem like she was lying.

Sure, women sometimes lie about things like that. Of course they do. People lie in general.

But every allegation like this needs to be taken seriously, and assuming that she's making it up, just because a statistically few people do make things up, that's what makes me rage.

As far as Tom Hardy, leaving someone is hardly the same thing as beating them. We've all done it.

Wow, blogger, eat a dick why don't you!

Anonymous said...

I do think people took the allegations against Michael Fassbender seriously. People on tumblr and ontd hate his guts because of it. I'm on the fence myself.

I think if you were a fan of Michael's before this incident, you'd be more likely to think there's a possibility he could be innocent. If some ex of Tom Hardy's or JGL's suddenly came forward with a story about abuse, with a $20,000 price tag attached to it, then dropped it the next day, I doubt you'd jump on the "OMG, he's a woman beater for realz" bandwagon so quickly.

Regardless, Prometheus was amazeballs, and it featured two strong female leads. I can ignore Fassy's fugly face for that reason.

Anonymous said...

I can't see how you can "hate" anyone you don't really know.

Anonymous said...

I didn't/don't know: Hitler, Ted Bundy, George Bush, Charles Manson, Dahmer, Mel Gibson, Rush Limbaugh, etc and yes, I think it's fair to say I hate them.

It really burns my balls when people assume things about me. You're assuming two things here. One, that I "jumped right on the 'OMG he's a woman beater!'" thing with this Fassbender guy. I did not, so please stop implying that I didn't look into it or give it any consideration.

Two, that I'd give someone I preferred some special treatment if it looked like they were abusive to women.

Would I be surprised as hell? You bet. Especially with someone like JGL, because he is so outspoken as a feminist.

You can "doubt" I'd do this and assume I'd do the other all you want, but you'd be wrong.

Lol, dis bitch. She thinks she's perfect, doesn't she?

Shush, anon, or I'll sue you. This one time, I sued god and won. You better check yourself before you wreck yourself! ;D

kapunua said...

In other news, I'm so glad that #vaginamovielines was trending on Twitter today, in defiance of the idiotic, draconian banning of the woman who dared to say 'vagina' at the House of Representatives.

Anonymous said...

I sued Hollywood because they made an unauthorized movie of my life. I won all of Hollywood's money.

Anonymous said...

Too bad about Christian Bale being in TDKR. I'd love to see a movie with JGL and Tom Hardy in it again, but I just can't with a known woman beater in it. :(

Anonymous said...

Gary Oldman too. In his divorce, his wife accused him of beating her when he was drunk. She also said he beat her with the telephone when she tried to call the police. :O

What's with all these actors?

kapunua said...

I don't like Christian Bale in general, but, UGH, what is the story about that?? I've never heard it!

Anonymous said...

http://fyeahgaryoldman.tumblr.com/post/12579006720/because-it-needs-to-be-said-gary-oldman-never-beat-his Unfortunately, some women do lie. The jury is still out on Fassbender, but this one was investigated thoroughly and proven false.

Anonymous said...

Christian Bale actually assaulted his MOTHER. Not that that's any better.

I don't necessarily believe that Gary Oldman's wife was lying. Both of them had alcohol/drug problems. I think it's possible that he just had the better lawyer/more money to spend. It happens all the time.

kapunua said...

Oh, no! I knew he seemed kind of sleazy and totally troubled after that huge tirade he made towards someone on a movie set once, but that is just totally insane! Indeed, what in the goddamn piss hell is wrong with him?

Anonymous said...

1:15, all situations are different. Trying to apply the same wording and logic to all stories like this across the board is wrong. Yes, it does happen all the time, but you using the same exact wording as those who believe there might be some truth to the Fassbender story, is giving me the suspicion that you're a concern troll. But a troll nonetheless.

Now maybe you really do believe that, but I'm starting to smell a grudgewank over here, and it doesn't have anything to do with Gary Oldman.

Anonymous said...

It's like saying that because you believe OJ was wrongly set free, EVERYONE who isn't convicted is wrongly set free. You're not thinking critically.

Hiya guys, how are you all?

Top 10 books?

In no particular order:

Anne Franks Diary
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Douglas Adams Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy series
Dean Koontz Strangers
Derek Landy Skulduggery Pleasant series
Robert Rankin (all of them)
Richard Dawkins The God Delusion
S J Parris (all of them)
C J Sansom ( all of them)

I really love Stephen King too but I like the above slightly more. I'd have to say that the ones I like best from him are Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

I must be one of the very few people on this earth not to have read a Harry Potter book.

Don't know if that's a good or bad thing :/

Me too Anon. Never seen any of the films either. I've never read Lord Of The Rings but I did watch those films even though it ate up about 27 hours of my life, or did it just feel that long LOL.

*waves to Welshie*

But Hitchhiker's Guide, YES. The whole series. Everything by Douglas Adams really, is just brilliant.

Anyway, really enjoyed thinking about the books. Great topic idea.

It's amazing how Kapunua just disappears when she hears something she doesn't want to hear.

Anonymous said...

I hadn't heard any of the story about Gary Oldman's wife fabricating evidence. I only know that the story about him beating her has been floating around for a long time, and a lot of people take it as fact.

Anonymous said...

Kapunua disappeared? When?

I hate jogging.

kapunua said...

I actually hate it, too. But I've had to take some time off Kung Fu due to financial reasons and I don't have many other outlets / opportunities for exercise.

I'm also really bad at it. I can do a mile, and then I'm like, "Eff this, I'm done."

Anonymous said...

I don't like jogging either. Besides, it's too hot where I live. :/

Weighing in on the domestic abuse discussion (and please, don't anybody bite my head off -- I'm just giving an opinion and not a judgment of anyone else's, 'kay?): I think that women should always be taken seriously when they file any kind of domestic abuse claim. I think statistically very few of them lie. However, when it comes to famous people, I think the statistics probably do go up a bit, for monetary reasons.

I love Gary Oldman, and I would prefer to believe that he is totally innocent. I think there is a lot of evidence in his favor.

I think Fassbender is a decent actor, and he seems very nice and gentlemanly in his interviews. Beyond that, I know very little about him. In his situation, there was no investigation because the charges were dropped. He could very well be guilty, but he could also be innocent. I have no way of knowing, so I don't make judgment. I still see his films, but I have to admit, I can't really become a "fangirl" because that doubt is always there, which is a shame if the guy is innocent. But that's just how it is.

My two cents.

kapunua said...

I guess that's kind of how I feel, too. In many cases, there seems to be more evidence, and in other cases, it looks less likely. I guess we have to use our judgment.

What I think would be great, would be total disclosure. If people would come forward and straight up say, "I did it," or "Please believe me, I didn't do it," and actually talk about these things instead of trying to bury them. But, I know that's a completely unrealistic expectation, because in Hollywood, it's all about money, and celebrities being told how to behave.

And I feel similarly about Fassbender. He rubs me the wrong way to begin with, and I don't think I could ever actually be his "fan." Like you said, that's a shame if he is innocent, but that's how I feel.

Oh, and me? I can only job when it's hot and humid. :) I can't do it int he fall and winter!

kapunua said...

OMG, jog, not JOB! WTF! O____o

I would rather do the treadmill in the summer. Actually, I'd rather do the treadmill period. I don't like dodging cars, being chased by dogs, cat-called, etc. It's a shame really. :/

I do agree that celebs should just come out and admit their mistakes rather than just hoping things will go away. I'd much sooner forgive someone who admits they've done wrong than someone who pretends it didn't happen.

You read Richard Dawkins Miss T?

Very impressed.

But then they wouldn't appear near perfect, have people look up to them as something to aspire to and idolize them, and buy whatever it is they are trying to sell.

I loved the Harry Potter books. I started reading them with my daughter when she was ten. We very quickly read up through the Prisoner of Azkaban, and then had to wait forever for The Goblet of Fire to come out. It was a wonderful experience reading them with her, waiting for the films and for the subsequent books. She grew up with Harry Potter. She's nearly 22 now, and we share a bond over books, only now it's classics and science fiction. I give Harry Potter a lot of credit for that.

I love Dawkins' books as well. He's a very articulate man.

Has anyone watched a BBC documentary series called Beautiful Minds?

I highly recommend it, the show is about British scientists who have made breakthrough contributions in their relative fields and discusses with them how they came to make their significant discoveries.

It's fascinating just to hear their approach and the way they think.

Richard Dawkins is one of the scientists profiled in the series.

Kapunua I think you would enjoy the episode that featured Professor Jocelyn Bell Burnell who describes how she discovered pulsars from supernova explosions :)

Heads up. Wendy has joined FB and is trying to friend some people you may know, all of you. Some might friend her back. Make sure you lock your FB to the setting that "friends of friends" can't see your posts!

Anonymous said...

It's perfectly fine if you don't appreciate Tom Hiddleston's talent, 2:15. He's one of those guys you have to actually see in motion for a bit before you get it, and some people never get it at all. No big.

Over the course of two hours (watching Thor), I went from ogling Chris Hemsworth to really appreciating the subtlety of Tom's Loki. By the end of the film, I was rooting for him.

In Avengers they've made him less appealing (the mullet of crazy does him no favors in the looks department), but his acting still draws me in.

But the final straw for me was hearing him do lines from Henry V in an interview. Shakespearean actors are kinda my thing. And that's just it. People like me don't really care if the average Josephine out there "doesn't get it". We do, and that's really all that matters. :)

Anonymous said...

Sleazy looking? Really? Now that I don't see at all. He's about as un-pornstar-like as you can get. :/
