When I got married suddenly magazines stopped even putting the name of our band in print. It was "Mrs. Gerard Way and co. play blah blah blah..." not only did it strip away my identity but it robbed my entire band of theirs and completely dismissed all the strides we had made together. I also felt like it sent a disgusting message that no matter what you do with your life at the end of the day you will merely be someone’s wife. It’s a massive insult and anyone who can’t comprehend that is a moron.

For one thing, Borat almost acted as invisible theatre. Sacha Baron Cohen became a character, and I felt it was more about showcasing the racist attitudes that still exist in society and criticisig them, rather than promoting them and saying "this is okay." I was in the band touring constantly for years before I owned being a bass player. I will say that although I didn’t really know how to play before MSI, when the opportunity presented itself I committed myself to learning and practiced morning, noon, and night.
Somehow I find that hard to believe.
I’ve never understood the mentality that complicated equals good. My favorite bass lines have always been the simplest ones and if I were to make a list of all my favorite songs none of them contain some crazy bass line only Les Claypool could master. In fact they are probably so simple I could teach you how to play them in an hour. I would rather be Dee Dee Ramone than Flea.

I'd like to know why they don't stop reading this blog if it inflames them so much, which is exactly the same advise a few of them suggested about Frank's tweets. Even my friends and family have said and done things that offended me and when that happens I say it, I talk about it, I don't condemn them and forget any good thing they did or said before.

To be honest, I can take things Frank says with a grain of salt. I mean, I'm a fan of Borat, Family Guy and Marilyn Manson, so I get that type of humour and I get irony.

The problem is that Frank's twitter (all of their accounts actually) were created to help promote the band and their upcoming album. It was another marketing scheme Warner set up to try and gain momentum towards the new record. To be honest I am really surprised that they haven't put their foot down and told Frank to shut his trap.If Frank likes to offend, or just wants the opportunity to "be himself" he should have a personal twitter separate from the one designed to promote the band. MCR are dangling by a thread and probably still owe their label money for past videos, tours and album production. Why would you deliberately alienate anyone who might potentially be paying your electric bill next month?
As far as those poor deluded girls who see MCR as some ethereal god's sent from heaven to save their lives, in another couple of years they won't even remember MCR or the amount of energy they put in to trying to defend them. The thread on BN seemed to start out as an opportunity for people to express dissenting opinions, but it turned into something completely different.
People came on and acted as if those who were offended were stupid, disloyal, hateful, mean, etc. -- none of which is true.
People have a right to be offended just as Frank has the right to offend. For people like Voluptuosity and others to come into that post and turn it into a "let's hate on VV," "Frank is not amused by your shtick,"-fest is just wrong.

Makes you wonder if it's too late. I know LJ is slightly old school but there are very few old names from before 2006 and not much emthusiasm even in the main comm. Their biggest cheerleaders seem to be at BN and Mayos. I haven't visited MCRF or INO lately to see what's going on but I know most other sites are gone.
I think the fandom is going through a quiet period, but that's what happened after Revenge and in the wait for TBP, and after that came out their fanbase grew hugely.
The thing is, this time, they're trying to appeal to the KOL/Killers crowd, you can tell. Ditch the teenies and get a more mature fanbase that'll get them hanging around in the charts for months.
I really doubt it's going to work unless they really overhaul their image. The most damaging part will be Gerard every time he opens his mouth. He just can't let the music speak for itself, which is what those bands do and why they're doing so well.
LJ still has some crazies. They were the ones trolling everyone who spoke out about Eliza and the 'Crew'.
They've just gone a bit quiet since the band's members have been exposed as racist and sexist morons.
The problem is, they're the fans who spend the last two years throwing feminist theory in the faces of everyone who called Eliza and Alicia out on their groupie crap (using the 'feminism' of the WMHC to get people to pay $200 for a haircut, or Alicia setting up donation accounts for fans to send her 'friend in need' money), but then when feminist theory was used against Frank, Ray and Bob and their twitters, they didn't like it.
They'll be back once the publicity for the new album picks up steam.

I was involved with lj back then and the fandom was not nearly this quiet. We had LOTMS to keep us going and there was a lot of discussion and a lot of speculation about the new record. I just don't see that now.
Also, I was friends with other long term fans including mods of the communities. We talked a lot on our individual journals about the band then too. My lj friends, all from the MCR fandom, numbered nearly 200. Most of those people are gone now and the few who remain don't want to be associated with the MCR fandom because of what it has become.
Unless this new record is nothing short of amazing (and I mean really amazing, not Gerard's definition of that word), I think MCR is on its way out.
I hope they fail and this record bombs. I really, really do.
