Bad taste and lack of class all around

Which is worse?

Gerard and Lindsey posing (embarrassingly badly) as JFK and Jackie O, with Gerard looking like, as someone once said "a druggie nodding off in someone's car" and Lindsey looking petulant and bored.... and otherwise totally blank? In an attempt to try to be "edgy" and apparently to sell Gerard's book they pulled this stunt and told people "suck it, it's art". I wonder if they would feel as "edgy" about "art" if it was someone making fun of one of their tragedies? Say someone posing as Gerard's deceased grandmother. (Oh wait, they already exploited that in Helena)...

OR, Frank Iero who always spoke out against hate speech, using the word "n*gga" and defending it. "In practice, its use and meaning are heavily dependent on context.[1] Presently, the word n*gga is used more liberally among younger members of all races and ethnicities in the United States, although its use by persons not of African descent is still widely viewed as unacceptable and hostile, even when used without intentional prejudice." Just think of the outcry when Eliza said that word? But you can bet the same people who turned against her will think Frank is just "being funny".

It's a shame because even for a while after Gerard turned into a walking douche bag I still personally thought maybe Frank wasn't one.

Oh well, I guess the whole band is pretty similar.

Thanks for the new post.

I totally agree about Frank. To think, at one time so many of us were holding out hope that he might be able to talk some "sense" into Gerard.

Turns out, he's just as much of a douchebag as Gerard.

Anonymous said...

And now Frank has taken to calling people who disagree with him "annoying simpletons".

Did he change or were we completely fooled about him too? This is kind of heartbreaking. :[

Anonymous said...

I'm obviously not codoning his language or behavior towards fans but I think "annoying simpletons" was sarcastic.

Anonymous said...

I don't think it was sarcastic, considering that he said it to the same girl who called him out on being racist.

All she said was something to the effect of asking him if racism was genius. Then he made the comment about how it was okay to use the word with an A on the end of it.

She must have said something back to him, but I don't know what it was. She's since made her twitter private.

He called her a simpleton and blocked her. I think that was being mean. Is it a crime to even disagree with them now?

Anonymous said...

I had no idea about the blocking. Wow, that's really pathetic on his part. And she probably had to private her account because of all the MCR drones attacking her. Sometimes this whole thing makes me so angry. Grown men using teen girls to do their bidding is sad, wrong, and creepy.

Anonymous said...

It's so hard for me to see Frank as a douche because he has always been so incredibly nice to me when I've met him. He hung out with us for an hour after the Leathermouth show and seemed so happy. I have the distinct feeling that he's just incredibly unhappy with MCR now and the horrid music they are making. I think once contractual obligations are finished he'll be the first to leave the band.

Anonymous said...

It seems to me like the band is trying to recreate itself by shedding its nice guy image. I know this has been said before about Gerard, but now Frank is doing it too.

I don't understand what they hope to gain. It's not like guys are reading their tweets and will think they're cool for being mean to fangirls. They're just hurting peoples' feelings for no reason.

Anonymous said...

Why are they trying to turn into MSI, who make a habit of insulting fans? It's not like MSI has ever had any real popularity to speak of. Besides, Gerard is no Jimmy Urine. At least Jimmy has the look and timing of a comedian, so his shtick kind of works for him. It ain't gonna work for Gerard. Or Frank because his humor is too dark and difficult to read. The fangirls won't know whether he's serious or not.

9:04, but the mark of a good person is to not take out your own frustration on other people.

The mark of a dick is the guy who does just that.

Trust me people all over the world have it worse than Frank Iero and they don't go around acting mean and awful.

Anonymous said...

Let hope you're right about him. I personally feel he may be acting this way as a form of defending stoopid who maybe they believe won't be singled out as much if they all behave that way. On the other hand I could be wrong.

Anonymous said...

9:23 the mark of a mature person is one who reasonably controls their frustrations and does not dump it on others, no matter how much they irritate you.

Anonymous said...

Poor, poor MCR. Life is just sooo tough and unfair for them.

Anonymous said...

Regardless of what Frank is "going through" it doesn't give him the right to take it out on fans.

I am offended by the word he used. I have black friends who say it is never okay for a white person to say that word, no matter what the context. I respect that.

Obviously, Frank doesn't care about anyone's feelings but his own. I don't care how nice he used to be.

Anonymous said...

If ya ask me, Frank's starting to sound like a little whiny bitch. Next he'll tell someone to "suck it".

Anonymous said...

Likewise, I have black friends who object to the word ending with er but have no problems with the word ending on a.

Anonymous said...

Is this a blog about MCR or Douches R Us?

Anonymous said...

My black friends are fine with the word so long as another black person says it, but they don't accept it when a white person does. It can be rather confusing, but surely Frank has experienced that.

Regardless, he should know better. The word's origins are enough to keep me from using it (and yes, I know it comes from the word niger, but that's not what I'm talking about, so how about not bringing that up -- I'm talking about it's racial connotations). He has to know the controversy that came up when Eliza used it. Maybe he's trying to stir shit up.

Anonymous said...

On the last post people were talking about the website only allowing certain members of the MCRmy to join as of now, I'm not so sure it's an experiment to test out the site. I think it's more a marketing research tool to find out how many of the old fans are still around. They also might think they can get some of the old fans back by making them feel 'special'.

Anonymous said...

Don't think they want the old fans. They are in the process of metamorphosis; the MSI-ing of MCR.

Anonymous said...

From where I'm standing, it looks to me like they don't want any fans at all. Their mission is to try and offend pretty much everyone.

Anonymous said...

Oh well, Voluptuosity will never leave them.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, well, she's not a fan, she's a puppet.

Anonymous said...

V and 147 MSI fans. Should give GW orgasmic spasms.

Anonymous said...

Good description of a lot of MCR fans 5:26. And MSI ones too.

Anonymous said...

Did someone take a screenshot of Frank's 'nigga' tweet? I can't find it. I think someone should send his tweet to a few black celebrities and find out what they think about a white midget using the word and thinking that he can get away with it by using the 'a' instead of the 'er'.

Anonymous said...

Or maybe to their rapping pals.

Anonymous said...

I dont think they have african american friends, except for gerard with levar burton, but since levar is a celeb, that doesn't count.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the people in rap music give them a second thought. Kind of like the rest of the music community. If a band or musical artist isn't on Warner, they probably don't even acknowledge their existence.

Anonymous said...

yeah, because mcr is the "annoying simpletons" in music industry.

Anonymous said...

MCR is "mall goth" rock. Something to be laughed at, not taken seriously.

They might as well abuse their fans. Nobody else has any respect for them so why should they?

Anonymous said...

Well, I can't find it anymore, so he must have deleted it. Spineless piece of shit! If he thinks that it isn't racist because of the 'a' as a suffix (I'm actually astounded that he knows that word) why did he delete it then?

MCR is the embodiment of people who never deserved to become successful and famous.
Their abuse of power is disgusting.

Anonymous said...

look closer sherlock, he did not delete it.

http://twitter.com/Franklero/status/3586119893

He RTed something his friend said.

Twitter isn't going so well for them, all the way back to Bob's 'art'. I know they must get lots of stupid messages but they're not just hanging with friends when it's on the band's main page.

Anonymous said...

So, this is the tweet we are yapping about? Oh God.
Well, I learned a new lesson.

Anonymous said...

He may not have said it himself but he still chose to post it on his Twitter, which I don't see as being any better.

Anonymous said...

It's not that Frank used the term n*gga, it's that he defended it and told the girl who said it was racist that she was a simpleton and blocked her.

Besides, he had no business retweeting it, knowing that many of his fans find the word offensive.

Anonymous said...

Besides, he had no business retweeting it, knowing that many of his fans find the word offensive.

That's the thing. He and the others in the band don't care what their fans find offensive. They 'make their own rules' and they aren't going to pander to the people who are telling them to act like anything other than the Jersey trash they are.

Anonymous said...

The need to include the caption "Are Jersey Trash and Proud of It" with the changing captions that appear underneath MCR on their website.

Anonymous said...

Have you run out of quotes from Cobain's suicide note to use as titles, VV?

Anonymous said...

I seem to remember that VV said that she once thought of Gerard as having some similarities to Kurt and that was why she used the quotes.

If I'm not mistaken, at one point she realized that Gerard should not be compared to Kurt because everything Gerard had ever claimed to stand for was a lie.

I hope I'm not mis-representing you, Verita, but that is the way I understood it.

Anonymous said...

In the last year some surprising people are saying they are done with this band. These are folks that have been around comms and forums since 2004. It's even more surprising because it's not even like they're out touring and interacting with people very regularly. I think everyone wants to see what's going to happen with the next album and all but I don't think many will support it.

How badly was he injured in the plane accident he was involved in? Perhaps that was a contributing factor. Sometimes people get hooked on drugs after a traumatic incident like that or after having been on painkillers for an extended period.

Does anybody know if he had any permanent injuries?

Anonymous said...

He had a drug problem prior to becoming a big DJ. I'm sure surviving that plane crash was a contributing factor to his relapse. I can't even imagine how that fucked with his mind.

Everyone should read this article about DJ AM.

So, so sad.

Gonna go back and read all the comments, but what the hell? Them doing 'Helena' was supposed to be a tribute of sorts to their grandma, not a mocking. I see nothing wrong with that. What they did with JFK? That was disgusting, not 'Helena'.

And just because Frank found something funny and RT'd it people are ragging on him for it? Holy shit. He didn't use the word himself, he didn't call anyone that name and neither did the girl. She was simply saying what she'd seen someone else say. There was no hate in ANY of those three tweets. How does that make Frank a douche? I'm not their biggest fan, haven't been for a long time and some of their twitter shit pisses me off too, but I'm trying to have a little perspective here.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know if the lyrics to the new songs are anywhere? I'd listen to the recordings to try and work them out, but I can't stand the ear bleed anymore.

So Frank has 45k followers, and instead of being thankful and flattered by that, he decides to have a blockathon? Gerard has 72k and Mikey has 65k, and yet Frank thinks 45k is too many. I think it's just an excuse to block a load of people, especially the ones perhaps that keep tweeting him over and over again.

Anonymous said...

He better be careful, he could get blocker's finger. Very nasty.

Anonymous said...

What I don't get is, if you or I had a twitter and someone was spamming it with rubbish, insults, or just things we thought were dumb, we'd block them, no? Maybe tell 'em to f***k off.

Why is it one rule for us and another for him? Why should he have to 'put up with it' because he's in a band? I get that fans see his comments, he should be a role model etc. Just because people put the role model tag on someone doesn't mean they're gonna act like it. Doesn't mean they HAVE to. Nobody is amazing enough or deserving of being put on a pedestal...i wish some would get that.

Whatever it makes no sense. They're not using anyone to do their bidding. If people want to attack those tweeting them it's the stupidity of rabid fangirls who do it which is at fault. With the exxception of Mikey and his 'so I threw them to the wolves' remark.

Anonymous said...

What I don't understand is, if you don't have unreasonably expectations, just expect some common decent standards all of a suddenly you put on a pedestal these people.

You really don't understand. After Frank retweeted the comment that contained the racist word (I'm not typing it again) he said it was funny. A girl tweeted him that racism wasn't genius. He tweeted back to her that that word was okay so long as you put an A on the end instead of ER. The girl argued back with him and he called her a simpleton and blocked her. Then the girl put her twitter on private, probably because she was being hounded by fangirls.

It's never okay to use that word. If Frank was being sarcastic or not, some people found it offensive. The girl he argued with found it offensive. If he was being sarcastic, he should have explained that to her nicely instead of being nasty to her, calling her a name and blocking her.

We aren't the only people upset here. Go read the link on lj. Those girls are long-time fans who have been very active in the fandom recently. They're mostly all calling him out.

Anonymous said...

why cant they be like certain LA rockstar brothers who agree on everything - marrying the same type of girl, living in the same town, have the same friends, have family bbq parties every 3 days or so..

No, they're just the brothers who married the same kinds of women (patsy kensit and meg matthews, anyone?), and are rude to others and each other. Much better.

/also sarcasm.

I'm still a fan, and if MCR doesn't want us female fans anymore, I guess there's nothing we can do but leave them with their army of 200 male fans.

Anonymous said...

It's never okay to use that word? Tell that to a black person. Oh wait *waves the black people flag*

I am one. There was no racism in his comment or hers as far as I'm concered. It did not offend me at all. I wish actually, that people would stop getting offended on others' behalf, and listen to some actual people you think it should offend. It can be offensive of course but taking something black people use in a non-offensive way and twitterizing it, twiggas/z, is should not be offensive.

We (some) use it as a friendly greeting or word and not as a derogatory comment, like we're a collective people, brothers or sisters. Saying it about your twitter friends I think should be taken the same way, and in context.

I have my own mind, thank you very much and just because a load of lj'ers think it's offensive I'm not going to change my feelings on it lol.

Anonymous said...

Other former teenage heartthrobs like Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Timberlake, the band Hanson (just to name a few) successfully ditched their pinup-boy image by not being rude to their young fans, but by increasing the quality of their work.

MCR on the other hand - did otherwise.

Anonymous said...

I'm still a fan, and if MCR doesn't want us female fans anymore, I guess there's nothing we can do but leave them with their army of 200 male fans

Make that three male fans. Talking about your wife all the time does not appeal to them. Maybe if they brought back the stage gay the male fans would come crawling back. But they're not exactly even pretty enough for these days.

If you don't mind what Frank said, that's great. But other people have their own minds as well and they have just as much right to be offended by his use of the word as you have to not be offended.

Frank also has the right to block anyone for anything on his twitter. But fans also have the right to get angry at him and desert the band in droves.

Anonymous said...

I'm confused. Is this the real Gerard? Or is the real Gerard the nice guy pre-MSI?

Anonymous said...

I agree with 6:33

Where were you when the entire fandom was up in arms over Eliza's use of the n-word (which ended in an 'a' and was intended to show that J* was her best bud), 6:24?

Funny how nobody came forward to defend her. I was reading comments by black people saying it was okay for them to call each other that because they were reclaiming the word, but white people couldn't use the word because it wasn't theirs to reclaim.

You might not find it racist for a white person to say "n*gga" but a lot of people (both white and black) do.

Anonymous said...

I think it's neither 6:37.

I do agree with you, but if everyone has the right to say whatever and be offended by whatever, then what are we all arguing about? We have the right to be offended and they have the right to say it. Nobody wins, they don't don't care about our opinion, they're not upset or outraged by it, yet people here give them the power to upset them? It makes no sense to me sometimes.

To the other anon, yes, I heard about Eliza but I did not see what she said myself and didn't care to at the time, I was not a fan to that extent. But nobody liked Eliza. If you're saying that we are like you and are only being offended because we don't like Frank, then you are WRONG.

I used to like Frank very much. I've met him and he was very nice to me and my friends when Gerard didn't give us the time of day. Does that mean he has a get out of jail free card as far as I'm concerned? Absolutely not.

The fact that you would have been offended by what Eliza said because you don't like her, but think it's okay for Frank to do the same thing because you do like him says a lot about the objectivity (or rather lack of it) of your opinions. I don't think people can take you seriously when you openly admit that you base them on whether or not you like a person.

No I'm not syaing that in general. I'm saying I'm sure there a FEW people who will base their opinions that way about Frank because they dislike him. Not everyone. And what I said about myself was not literally about me, it was an example comment. Sorry I didn't make that clearer.

Going back to Gerard and Lindsey's photo of the Kennedy assassination, I would just like to quote part of this recent article from Time, which talks about how the Kennedy's have had to deal with death so publicly for decades.

"The family was conflicted about whether the casket would be open or closed during the viewing, which put immense pressure on the morticians working on the body. In William Manchester's account, Jackie Kennedy, just 34 years old, told Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara she wanted it closed. "It can't be done, Jackie," he replied. "Everyone wants to see a Head of State."

"I don't care," she said. "It's the most awful, morbid thing. They have to remember Jack alive.""

By re-enacting the assassination in their "art" I feel that Gerard and Lindsey went against Mrs. Kennedy's wishes. I hope they realize this, although something tells me it wouldn't matter to people like them.

Anonymous said...

what do they ways know about politics?

Anonymous said...

or history for that matter?

Anonymous said...

Gerard chose to write about an important historical figure in his comic. You would think he would have taken the time to do a little research.

Oh wait. He didn't want to bother with that. He's too important to do any research. After all, he makes his own rules.

The Ways don't know much about a lot of things. I'm beginning to wish that I didn't know much about the Ways. I'm really kind of tired of reading about their stupidity. You can tell by their love of reality TV that they feel that any publicity or attention is good attention so I'm going to stop giving it to them.

The whole lot of them can go take a flying leap for all I care. I'm done.

7.50 if you were talking to me, did I forget the last few letters? I'll check, don't remember doing that but if I did then sorry, it was an accident. I am not MJ I can assure you. I don't like her any more than most other normal people would.

Anonymous said...

Oh sorry, 7.50 I see you weren't talking about me, but the person directly above you. Nice call in that case.

Anonymous said...

And no 7.41/MJ/whoever, I don't think my opinion counts for every black person. Only myself. I just wanted to point out that a lot of times when people go on about a racial group's rights or things that should bother them they very rarely ask what that group thinks and think they're being noble for doing it on their behalf. Not that I feel I owe you in particular an explanation-just anyone else who was curious.

Anonymous said...

I'm not MJ! I just didn't check before I posted. Not every mistake makes an Anon MJ.

Anonymous said...

True anon. True. But 'offensive' is a wrong spelling. 'Offence' is the wrong word. MJ is famed for it so people jump to conclusions. Don't worry about it :)

Anonymous said...

Ok, so I find it hard to spoell it wrong. I meant to say 'offensiv' without the e as a wrong spelling.

Anonymous said...

'Spoell'?! Wtf. I give up lol. Have fun people.

Anonymous said...

I just wanted to point out that a lot of times when people go on about a racial group's rights or things that should bother them they very rarely ask what that group thinks and think they're being noble for doing it on their behalf.

I have been told by my black friends that it's never okay for a white person to use the word n*gga. So, no. I don't think I'm being "noble" without knowing how some members of "that group" think. Nor do I think that you can lump every black person into one single entity and say that all black people are offended.

You aren't. Others are. Frank offended some people and didn't others. Those of us who are offended have every right to bitch about it.

Anonymous said...

Lol now you're just stirring shit. I already said I only speak for me, not all black people. Gotta love it when someone leaves out the part of a quote they want to moan about.

Anonymous said...

Also, with the bit did quote, I wasn't specifically talking about you. It was a general observation, which I, in turn, have every right to bitch about.

Anonymous said...

Okay, I asked this earlier but no takers. Does anyone have the lyrics to the new MCR songs? Was wondering what the content's actually meant to be about lol.

And did Bullets come out before the Midtown album that had a song on it that had a very similar beginning bass line to Vampires? Can't remember the name of it now, just wondered if it was something else they'd copied.

Anonymous said...

Is it me is it true, is the midtown song. Just found it.

Anonymous said...

I can't make out the lyrics to any of the new songs. Usually somebody on LJ will do so with a new song. They even did it with The World is Ugly, but I don't think anyone really gives enough of a fuck to try and figure out the new ones.

I think they're just pretending they don't exist in hopes that they'll sound better when the CD comes out.

It seems to me that Frank's been actively inviting controversy lately. If he really does want to cull his amount of followers, why not just set his Twitter page to private. That way he can pick and choose who reads his comments. What's the point of publicly announcing he has too many followers (too many fans?? I've never heard a band complain of that before), then pick fights with & block people.

I can believe that Gerard was a douche all along, but Frank? I think he's just been unhappy lately & is lashing out as a knee-jerk reaction. Or maybe there's just something funny in LA drinking water.

Anonymous said...

I know a lot of people who were huge MCR supporters who got really mad at Frank after the 'coat hanger' comment. There was a lot of heated discussion on private journals about him using misogyny to get rid of fangirls.

I think he's driving away fangirls, alright, but the ones he's driving away are some of the brightest ones. He's keeping the idiots.

Anonymous said...

10.26 yes that coathanger comment really pissed me off. Completely unwarranted.

resurrected wreck said...

He seems really full of rage lately.

Anonymous said...

He does RW you're right. It's not nice to see. I do hope it is just because he's been unwell, and he'll be feeling better soon.

resurrected wreck said...

Me too. Time will tell, I guess.

Anonymous said...

aaaaaand 'that lot' fight amongst themselves again. surprise surprise.

Anonymous said...

Yes RW it's no excuse obviously, but it would be some consolation I think.

Anonymous said...

Frank offended some people and didn't others. Those of us who are offended have every right to bitch about it.

And he has every right to block whoever he wants. What is it I see written here so often? That's right...deal with it!

Anonymous said...

Exactly.

Anonymous said...

Oh well. When Frank and MCR play to half empty stadiums and then find themselves having to start playing shit gigs like Warped again, I guess they'll just have to "Deal with it."

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't be surprised if they do this all on purpose. Maybe they want the band to become unsuccessful and the next album to be a flop? Maybe it's their way to get out of the contract with Warner so that they can do their own thing i. e. writing comics and touring with their own band etc.?
Remember what Prince did when he was pissed off about the way his label treated him.

I don't want this to sound like an excuse for their stupidity but I can't help but wonder about what band would deliberately sabotage their image like that?

They obviously created those Twitter profiles to be in contact with their fanbase, otherwise they would not have announced it on their band homepage and could have created secret accounts.
So, they want their fans to read their tweets and see how immature and stupid they react towards criticism.

My question is what record label, who wants their band to be a success and bring in the cash and is also fully aware of the fact that 98% of the band's fanbase consists of fickle, sensitive teenage girls, would let them tweet such stupid crap and not supervise it?
And now they also want 'special' fans to log in on their homepage so that they can comment on band members' blog entries and discuss them in forums?
I really would like to know what the discussions in that forum look like. As if those self-conscious asshats would allow any kind of critical comment or even any kind of comment about them being 'zeksi and hawt'.

So what would be left for the fan sheep to talk about?
The music?
Bwhahahahahahahahaha
Commenting on a specific song being totally amazing can only go so far and I can tell you those discussions will peter out very quickly because - let's be honest - it's not what the loons really want to talk about.

Who the hell makes the decisions in their PR department?

Anonymous said...

Also, by having their own forums and discussion boards, aren't they taking fans away from places like INO and BN? I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I wonder how the maintainers of those communities feel about it.

I don't know. With the way the guys block people on twitter, I doubt fans will be able to say much of anything that doesn't meet with the band's approval.

Example: (hypothetical, of course)

gerard_luvah666: I don't really care for the song Death Before Disco.

Maintainer: Enjoy your permanent ban, gerard_luvah666, because you're outta here!

I joined mcr.com because i'm still a fan and was curious to see what its all about. TBH, there's nothing interesting there. Most users just sign up, write one or two blogs and left. There's no forum whatsoever either.

Its boring, really.

Anonymous said...

also, 99.9% members at mcr.com are teen girls who blog about "thank you mcr" and "i'm new! add me!!!" kind of stuff.their site is so lame it makes buzznet looks like facebook.

Anonymous said...

I agree 11:55. Someone in the last VV blog mentioned letting fans join and comment made the website and band into even more of a joke than they already are.

But if they did have secret Twitters, you can bet there would a lot of drama over that, like with SS/Mayo.

Anonymous said...

They want their fanbase to be like MSI's. Only difference is that it will never, ever happen. Neither group of fans is very bright, but at least most MSI fans can tell when Jimmy's joking and don't follow his word as law. Not so much with MCR fans.

Maybe Frank wants to lose fans so MCR can be underground and hardcore again. Makes me laugh inside.

Anonymous said...

Obviously, nobody there will be able to speak freely and I'm pretty certain that after a while it gets really boring for the fans to not being able to speak their mind. They will soon start to test how far they can go and what they can post and what not. Soon the first ones will be banned or at least warned to never post those things again. The fans will get very insecure and annoyed by walking on egg shells all the time and having to watch what they write.

Also, I bet that many fans will start to denounce other fans and their critical comments or other posts they don't agree with to the mods to suck up to the band and by hoping to get special treatment like backstage passes or merch.

This is going to be a total nazifest over there, I can tell you!

Frank's at it again.

resurrected wreck said...

He hasn't figured out yet that alienating your fan base = reduced revenue for you and your band.

Anonymous said...

Somehow I think he'll regret driving all these fans away once the money stops rolling in.

He may think he wants to go back to the old days of living out of a van, but I don't think it will be that easy to go back to that after living a fairly well-off life for several years.

resurrected wreck said...

The bands that are around for a long time tend to be the ones who appreciate their fans & make a point of showing it. I think Frank's making a mistake. Even fan girls get tired of the disrespect after a while.

Anonymous said...

Maybe he thinks these girls will continue to be fans even if he insults and blocks them.

I think he's wrong.

Anonymous said...

i remember getting into a rather heated argument with a girl on lj about whether or not he called somebody 'cunt' during the leathermouth tour. she said he most definitely did and i said he would never do that and she must have misheard him. i think i probably owe that girl an apology.

resurrected wreck said...

Perhaps Frank sees his Twitter posts as "art".

Anonymous said...

Nope. That same girl apologized and admitted she was mistaken as English isn't her first language.

Anonymous said...

You guys have probably already discussed this but I haven't been here in awhile and just realized how AWFUL the time is on Gerard and Lynz's Kennedy assassination photo.

Not that they could have known, but damn. That makes it worse. Way to rub it in guys.

Anonymous said...

I actually think Frank's last twitter sounds kind of sad. Like he's annoyed someone could base their opinion of him on his twitters when he feels he's nice or something and it's not representative of him as a whole. I think he knows the way he's been acting is wrong but hasn't come around to realising he needs to apologise. I think being respected as a person must be something he likes about himself. I feel a little bad for him about that.

(Please don't all kill me at once)

Anonymous said...

Twitter was just a bad idea. For whatever reason, it just made MCR seem like a bunch of douches.

Gerard seems like a totally self-centered dick with his head shoved up his own ass. Bob came off as a Neanderthal. Mikey just likes talking to his famous friends and acting like he has no purpose in life other than to say inane things on the internet. And Frank seems like he has a split personality and might be experiencing emotional problems and anger issues.

The only one I have even the tiniest bit of respect for is Ray. The management should take away all twitter privileges except for his.

Anonymous said...

Like he's annoyed someone could base their opinion of him on his twitters when he feels he's nice or something and it's not representative of him as a whole. I think he knows the way he's been acting is wrong but hasn't come around to realising he needs to apologise.

Actually, I kind of agree with you. I've been there myself, where things are going wrong in my life and I don't feel in control so I become like a totally different person. Maybe that's what's going on with him. Maybe not.

But whatever it is, somebody needs to take his keyboard away from him until he gets it worked out or MCR isn't going to have any fans left (except Voluptuosity).

Anonymous said...

Maybe it's harder for Frank to be rude to a person when they stand right in front of him. He might be afraid of them kicking his ass or that he's not quick-witted enough if it comes to a discussion, so he plays nice to avoid such situations.

It's always easier to be rude on the internet to anonymous people whose faces you don't see, whose voices you can't hear and you will most likely never meet.
You can take your time to respond and don't have to react immediately as it would be the case in a face to face/real time conversation.

resurrected wreck said...

Apparantly not.

Maybe there's some twisted gratification in verbally abusing 14 year olds.

Anonymous said...

I just don't understand what it is that forces them to stay on Twitter?
I wouldn't be surprised if Bob the Flop used the death of his dog as an excuse for not having to deal with the fan sheep anymore.

If I was so annoyed by my fan base I would tweet some random things now and then and politely answer some 'ZOMG, your, like, my hero' posts once or twice a week and apart from that I would ignore it.

It's not that they have to deal with actual fans for the first time.

It's just that they're not used to being criticized by their fans.
I guess that hardly any fan who met them in person was able or had the guts to give them a piece of their mind or didn't want to waste the short and precious time with their idols to piss them off.

With Twitter they now have the chance to tell them what's going on in their minds and you can see by the way the band members' are 'fighting' back that it pisses them off big time and that they really don't like it.
If they wouldn't give a damn they would just ignore those tweets and not even bother to block them.

After all, getting blocked by them is the best proof that you hit the nail on the head.

Anonymous said...

It's obvious that someone touched a raw nerve with Frank. Can't he understand that he will be judged by what he says and the way he acts because people don't know him personally, and only have what they see and read as indicators. Otherwise he should not give a damn, just like Jimmy Urine. However, unlike JU, I think Frank has a conscience.

Anonymous said...

I think you're right. And he won't apologize. This is the new hard-line MCR you're talking about.

I remember when Gerard first started acting out and people thought it was because he was having some kind of problem too. Turns out he just suffers from Asshole Disease, which turns out to be contagious. Frank has it too.

They want acceptance as adult men, not good little boys.

resurrected wreck said...

They won't get it by verbally pummelling teenage girls.

Anonymous said...

We understand that. I don't know what they think they'll achieve out of this, or whether they've just had enough of the obsessive nature of some of their fans.

Anonymous said...

They want acceptance as adult men, not good little boys.

Oh, is that what men do? Prey on those weaker than they are?

Anonymous said...

If they want to be treated like adult men, then perhaps they shouldn't be acting like a bunch of adolescent boys.

Anonymous said...

Oh, is that what men do? Prey on those weaker than they are?

Course not. But they wouldn't be the first ones to act like complete dicks to their fans. They are in the entertainment industry.

Anonymous said...

Course not. But they wouldn't be the first ones to act like complete dicks to their fans. They are in the entertainment industry.

But how many other bands built their fanbases by pretending to care about their fans? They can't just do a complete 180 and totally alienate practically the whole fanbase unless they're planning on trying to build a new one from scratch.

They aren't some unknown band from NJ. People have preconceived notions about them. It's going to be even harder for them to win over the type of fans they want because of that.

resurrected wreck said...

I don't think they're going to be able to do it.

Anonymous said...

I don't think they'll be able to do it either. Not with Gerard at the helm anyway. He's not going to give up the flamboyance. He's never going to be happy just playing stripped down rock music. Sooner or later that repressed Cabaret performer in him will come out.

MCR is not and never will be hardcore.

Anonymous said...

They give the impression that it doesn't really matter to them how many fans they lose.

resurrected wreck said...

It'll matter to them once Gerard realizes that he can no longer afford those three cars.

Seriously, it sickens me that my money helped pay for those.

Anonymous said...

The only time could have even hoped to have been considered hardcore was back when they first started, up until the release of Revenge. But I think it had more to do with that they couldn't afford to go all out. Once I'm Not OK and Helena got big, they were able to get suits and bulletproof vests.

Anonymous said...

3 cars now? Wow. Who is he trying to impress?

Anonymous said...

Himself.

Anonymous said...

I think between GW and LW they have 4, maybe even 5.

Anonymous said...

5 now? Must make Lindsey feel in the big league too.

Anonymous said...

If it takes all these possessions to make you feel worthy, well...don't know *shakes head*

Anonymous said...

Cars are such a waste of money. They aren't investments like buying a house. You're pretty much just throwing your money away.

Anonymous said...

Its been said he had a VW Beetle, and then he said the Mini Cooper convertible in that blog. {Both very manly cars, of course.} And now he has the Challenger, and the Trans Am. So assuming Lindsey had her own car, and he got rid of the VW, they would have max 4.
