compensating for something

Apparently Gerard is Twittering about buying a 1979 Trans Am muscle car....

For the safety of his unborn child.

Those were also some great pictures of Lindsey drinking her breakfast. Hopefully she has stopped that by now along with smoking but who knows.

OK, that's all I wanted to say, all of you can go back to eating your "crisps" now.....

So much for Gerard and all his "empathy" The Empathy Gerard version has been superseded.

Doesn't fit the LA rawwkstaaa with chicken tatted wife Gerard.

MCR does not bring people together any more so than any other common interest that people share. It's the INTERNET, not MCR. I agree anon.

It's also wonderful if people have the opportunity to develop a relationship through this medium.

I've seen many friendships develop on the blogs. And that's because of common perspectives and interests that are shared.

You can't really attribute this to MCR.

Anonymous said...

I simply do not understand your logic. You say the band have opulant lifestyles as a result of the money fans have 'given' them. First of all, I think you may be seriously overestimating their personal wealth, but that is another argument entirely.

You seem to forget the fans do not donate to a MCR fund; they pay, voluntarily, for services rendered. Would you begrudge your local plumber the right to buy a new car with money he/she had received from customer's for services rendered? In most cases, the plumbers clients would have no alternative but to part with their hard earned cash, a leaky roof won't fix itself, but people have a choice to buy concert tickets, records and merch.

I have an i-phone, most of my friends have a smart phone of some description. I like to buy gadgets, and I would like to think that my purchases stimulate the economy and potentially saves jobs.

I have a great job, a home that I love and I'm fortunate enough to drive my dream car. I am aware I could lose it all tomorrow, but that just makes me appreciate everything I have achieved so much more today. And, that is why I refuse to apologize for my success.

Anonymous said...

I am just as successful as you are anon, and in a business that is somewhat recession-proof. I do not feel the need to apologize for my success either.

However, I do not feel the need to go on ad nauseum about my gadget and toy purchases either, regardless of what the economy is like.

And honestly, I don't want to read about someone else's. I have no interest in what a band does with the money they make. If they're going to blog about something, I think it should be about their music.

Lol, the day I pull up Joe the Plumber's website and he's going on and on about the muscle car he's going to buy instead of his plumbing skills -- that's the day I find a new plumber.

And that is your personal choice, just as it is their personal choice to blog about topics that interest them. If the topics of their blogs/tweets aren't of interest to you, simply stop reading/following them.

The day I allow my profession to define who I am is the day I start looking for a new career. I am good at my job, and I enjoy it; but it is only one facet of who I am as a person.

I remember we used to have users with strong/realistic arguments but now its like the whole blog had been infested with frustrated mcr teenies. There is always the option to stop coming here, if you don't like what has become of this blog.

Also, I think that if a band promotes their twitter accounts on their official band website, you could expect them to write about their work as musicians and not so much about what items they have purchased lately or what their favorite cereal is.

It's, again, an example for the band members not being able to distinguish between their professional and their personal lives.

And people, who don't care much about their expensive iPhones being broken should also be able to help out their favorite animal shelter themselves, right?
Just as much as a, probably not filthy rich, but still wealthy musician should be able to help out a friend with cancer without having to beg his fans to pay for whatever it was that friend was in need of.
For example, Lindsey could have brought her very expensive YSL handbag to the pawnshop, if her friend the 'cancer patient' was in need of some money.

A professional website is supposed to be just that: Professional.

Go to any company's website and tell me how many of them write about their hobbies and interests.

Letting your profession define who you are and putting your personal life all over your official company website are two different things.

Anonymous said...

Talk about childish..

Seriously. If you aren't able to differentiate between your personal and professional selves and draw a line between the two, I seriously doubt that you even have a job.

Click on this link or any other plumbing company link that you can google and see if any of those companies talk about what they buy with the money their customers are going to pay them to install their new bathroom fixtures.

Anonymous said...

Well, personally I've never been one to begrudge people their money and whatever niceties they buy with them. People are frivolous. Were I rich, I'd sure spend my money on some frivolous things, also.

However, as I've always said, MCR set up their own noblesse oblige. These days though, that's just irony.

It's one thing to retire the old self-appointed superhero cape. It's entirely a different thing to take a huge dump on it and spit in the faces of the people who agreed with the things you said you stood for.

Anonymous said...

"Anyway, I've been following this blog since the very beginning but lately i noticed that the comments are pretty childish."

Then why read our so-called "childish comments" when you can spend your time on MCR's twitters, reading about their very mature pursuits: Warhammer, peg-warming, Frankenberry, Rock of Love Bus, and purchasing inflatable wizards on eBay? I'm sure a "grown-up" like you will find them to be so much more intellectually stimulating.

Please. Are you one of these people that believe MCR's management read this blog?

As long as they are not being hateful towards other bloggers, I see no problem with the so-called MCR teenies venting their frustrations here.

A professional website is supposed to be just that: Professional. That in a nutshell sums it up; they do not give the impression of being professional musicians.

Anonymous said...

that plumbing link you posted had a quote from the bible. i think they are letting an aspect of their personal lives spill over into their supposedly professional website. besides, most people go to a plumbing website for a service, people tend to read band blogs because they want to 'get to know' the band members a bit better and see what they have to say when they aren't answering questions about their music in interviews. It's nice to hear them talk about everyday things. They do post pics etc of them practicing/rehearsing in the studio and obviously can't say too much or go into too much detail about what they are doing musically at this early stage.

Anonymous said...

Of course a band website is going to be totally different to a plumbing website. Unless of course we could track down some rock n'roll plumbers. Now THAT would be fucking amazing!

Apparently, they've not been out in the workforce that long.

That's a good point, actually, but in my case the religious quote would probably turn me off of that particular plumbing company.

Just like the inane nonsense on MCR's website has turned me off of not just Gerard, but now the whole band as well.

And if you go back and look at most of the comments we've made here, they aren't directed towards how the band spends their money. They've been directed towards the fact that the band spends about half their blogging and twitter time talking about their toy and gadget purchases.

I don't care how they spend their money and I agree that it's theirs to spend. What I object to is the bragging about it nonstop on the website.

Anonymous said...

I understand what you are saying 2:07. Some people will have warmed to the bible quote and others like yourself would be turned off. With MCR, the things they write will be perceived by some as 'inane nonsense' while others will really enjoy reading what they have to say and gaining an insight into the personalities of the different band members. I guess it's just a case of diff'rent strokes.

How many plumbers do you read boasting about what they are going to purchase after the the final transaction or openly requesting their customers to help aid in their search for a specific car required in a plumbing experiment?

Anonymous said...

Well there is really only one person doing the majority of the blogging so you are not getting an insight into anything.

Anonymous said...

I really don't see it as bragging. They don't have anything I don't and I'm just your average person on the street. Their houses are probably worth more than mine but they never mention their houses anyway. I have several phones on the go (a blackberry a viewty and an iphone)and I am a techno geek, I love gadgets, I can't help it. Sorry if that makes me shallow. Everyone within my social circle earns about the same so nobody feels the other person is bragging if we talk about our latest purchase or whatever, in fact we love reviewing new products. I really don't think they are bragging, but I suppose if you don't have any gadgets or whatever it may seem like they are bragging about what they have, when they are really just having a convo about it.

Anonymous said...

But that's ALL they seem to talk about, material things and prospective things to purchase.

I'm sorry, but that's not much of an argument.

I said a long while back that I have an iPhone. I'm also quite well-off, and while I might talk about my computers and gadgets to friends and colleagues who are in my income bracket, I wouldn't assume that everyone I meet or talk to would be interested in them.

MCR knows that they have fans from all different backgrounds as well as nationalities. I've read lots of comments on lj from fans who say they can't even afford $1.29 to purchase a single from iTunes.

You can't compare your little social circle to MCR's worldwide fanbase.

Are you serious? Boasting? About what? A phone? A car? Hardly an opulant lifestyle. I don't know of any plumbers that have blogs, but I'm sure they would update their blog if they had recently made a purchase that excited them, whether it be a LCD tv or a new car etc. It's human nature, people write about things that are of interest t o them. I just updated my blog (I'm an underwriter) cos I just got tix to a sold out gig. I spent over £100 on the ticket but it made me happy and I wanted to write about it.

I do the same, but in my personal blogs, not my professional one. But even so, I don't talk about those things constantly.

And who said their lifestyle was "opulent"? We simply said that they are overly materialistic at a time when most Americans are having to cut back and that it might me in their best interests to find something else to talk about.

Anonymous said...

First, my social circle isn't little. If it was, I wouldn't be doing my job.

Second, you seem to have missed the point. That isn't the comparison I was making. I wasn't even making a comparison. You are expecting them to censor what they talk about in case it offends/upsets/bothers someone who is not as affluent, which, let's face it, is probably 99% of people that read their blogs. Does it bother me that they earn more than me? No, of course not. I also think it's unfair to say that they only talk about material things, because they don't.

Anonymous said...

Um, what? If you weren't making a comparison, why did you bring your social circle up?

Obviously, in your not-so-little social circle, logic doesn't play much of a role.

Also, make up your mind. Are you successful or are you the average person on the street?

And no, at this point, I don't expect them to censor their blog at all. In fact, I'm rather pleased that they are showing their true colors. This way, the world gets to see how shallow they really are. Apparently, shallow appeals to you, so I'm sure it appeals to others as well. Just be aware that it doesn't appeal to everyone.

Wow, you can tell you're American! Having a phone and a car might be "the norm" where you are, but it isn't in other countries other people aren't so fortunate. I detest people like you, you're just so ungrateful for all your blessings and you can tell that because you don't consider the thing you have to be "opulant". I'm from the UK so I'm not poor by any stretch of the imagination, but having travelled through Eastern Europe and having actually seen lots of people (including children) living in rubbish tips (garbage sites) amongst rats, stray dogs and God knows what, has made me very grateful for the things I have and I do consider my life to be oplutent because I do have a phone, a home, a car and a job.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi have topped a new poll to find the most trusted celebrity babysitters.

The married couple has no kids but more mums would trust their children with them than Angelina Jolie, according to the ParentDish.com survey.

And, in another blow for mum-of-six Jolie, American mothers would rather Brad Pitt's ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, look after their children than his current partner. She came in second, while Jolie was third.

Jolie also finished fifth on an accompanying list of the best celebrity mums - behind Jennifer Garner, U.S. First Lady Michele Obama and Reese Witherspoon.

Courtney Love and Dina Lohan topped a list of the worst celebrity mums.

More than 10,000 mothers took part in the U.S. Mother's Day-related online poll
.

I'd have to agree considering who Courtney let Frances hang out with.

Anonymous said...

Regarding the iPhone thing: I'm an American and although I know some people who have Blackberries and iPhones, they are most definitely in the minority. Not many kids have them: nearly all of them want them and if they had one I can assure you that they wouldn't be throwing it against the wall or spending back alley abortion clinic (or whatever the hell it was he said) bucks for shady beta applications for them.

I'm a college student. I have one and so do maybe two other people I know. I do know one kid who has both an iPhone and a Blackberry, but his mom works for AT&T, so that kind of doesn't count.

The thing is, not only do you have to pay for the phone itself, but AT&T has the service sewn up for the iPhone in this country and you have to sign a contract with them. It's about twice as much as a regular phone. Yeah, it's great. It has unlimited internet and you can get unlimited texting, but you have to pay out the wazoo.

Opulent? Maybe not, but most definitely beyond the means of most teenagers and a whole lot of adults.

People who act like smart phones are the norm here in this country are bullshitting you. Pure and simple.

Did you ever watch one of the videos where Bert and Gerard were doing Under Pressure live? Gerard sounded like absolute shit. His vocals were nothing like they were on the record. Bert had to carry him throughout the whole thing. Luckily, Bert can actually sing.

Here is the best performance out there of the two bands doing Under Pressure. Gerard doesn't sound terribly awful in the beginning, but notice at the end how it's like they've completely turned the sound on Gerard's mic down and all you can hear is Bert.

And lol@ Mikey playing the tambourine. That's because in this song, you actually have to hear the bass, so they had Jepha do it.

Oh I see. Is that why some people say he uses autocue? Does anyone know what that means?

Anonymous said...

It's caled auto-tune. According to Wikipedia:

"Auto-Tune is a proprietary audio processor created by Antares Audio Technologies that uses a phase vocoder to correct pitch in vocal and instrumental performances. It is used to disguise inaccuracies and mistakes, and has allowed many artists to produce more precisely tuned recordings.

In addition to being used to subtly change pitch, with some settings it can be used as an effect to deliberately distort the human voice.[1]"

I was on the dark horse website, and there's a zone there for the various things that have. One of them is for TUA - I think Gerard wrote one message when it was first launched in which he said he would be updating it regularly about TUA and then never bothered with it again. Anyway Scott Allie the editor still posts there and he was talking about twitter. He said:

"You may know that Gerard is on (twitter) too, but without as much frequency as the twins. Please, do not try to contact him through Twitter. Note that he's only following the posts of his bandmates, and maybe a couple other people. You can get the occasional update about the new record, though, so it's worth following."

And yet isn't it funny how something similar wasn't posted on the MCR website. It really pisses me off how the other band mates interact with the fans but Gerard is special. I just feel sorry for all those girls who keep messaging him when he has no intention of ever responding. He has a twitter just so he can keep in contact with his little circle of friends - fine, but then why not keep it private. And if he has no intention of interacting with the fans why not make that clear on the MCR webpage.

Anonymous said...

Gerard's only following a few people that are friends, yet he can ask fans to find a car for him.

Sweet.

Lol, I have to post this one too, even though the sound is awful, just because it's so damn funny. Check out Gerard's outfit and his "sexy" dancing, not to mention his panty lines.

Oh, my God. I can't breathe I'm laughing so hard.

Anonymous said...

I forgot about that whole car thing. So when he wants something he will interact with you, but once he's done he won't bother anymore.

Exactly. Oh, but that's because he's such a "conduit for human emotion" I suppose. He has so much empathy that if he actually talked to his fans, he would feel the things they're feeling and it would be too much for him to take.

*pukes*

Anonymous said...

I would laugh my ass off if all the fans unfollowed him. HE is the one putting himself un a pedestal by basically saying 'Hey, you can read my tweets, but I won't lower myself to tweet back to you.' If he lost thousands of followers overnight it might bring him down a peg or two.

Anonymous said...

I just wonder how the fans who were trying to help him find a car felt after some of them probably spent hours googling to find old Trans Ams for him to look at and he didn't even let them know what kind of car he wound up getting?

I guess they should not have been so naive as to think he would be grateful or anything, but it was still a douchey thing for him to do.

all disney stars like miley cyrus, demi lovato bla bla.. have way more followers than gerard.

myley cyrus has 544,483

now that is having followers!

even pete wentz has more than gerard.

428,726.

maybe that is the reason of why he doesn't bother with twitter xD it must be insulting that someone as ”talented and awesomee” like him it's only followed by
44,000.

Anonymous said...

Lol. Must suck to be in the "best band in the world" and then Pete Wentz has more followers than you.

Anonymous said...

I think people follow them for the sake of following them. I have the people following little me and I have no freakin' idea who they are. Gerard's a "rockstar" so he probably has lots of people following him even though they haven't even heard of him or MCR! Because he's the lead singer, he gets more followers from the rest. They probably saw him talking with other people they liked and followed him because of the association. I really don't believe he has 44000+ fans and the others don't. If you were a real MCR fan, you'd follow all of the band not just one.

Fuck me, have you seen what Nan-Z has put as her name?

Nancy Ann Ballato?

I think she is convinced she IS Lyn-Z. I mean, why go to the extreme of getting a tattoo that looks very similar to someone else's?

I was reading the paper today and there was a story about a girl who killed herself with pills and drink because she was convinced she was a character from Hollyoaks (Hollyoaks is a teen soap in the UK if you didn't know what it is). She said she believed that they had based a female character on her.

If Nan-Z were a professional lookalike then fair enough but that tattoo to me is really extreme to the fact that she went so far out of her way to look like someone who's husband she has an obession with.

Check out Gerard's outfit and his "sexy" dancing, not to mention his panty lines.

I laughed so hard i had tears in my eyes!!! Those pants make his ass flatter if that is even possible. Did you see his arm wanting to break into some Micheal Jackson moves? LOL!

Hello everyone!

Happy Mother's Day!

Um, when I read somewhere about Ashton Kutcher and CNN competing about who will have the most followers on Twitter, that Ashton might have only won, because once you started following someone, you can't 'un-follow' anymore, unless you delete your account.
I don't know if that's true, but if it is, then it might be that Gerard and the other imbeciles from MCR have people on their 'follower' list, who stopped following them a long time ago or just clicked on the follow button without being really intersted in the guys, or don't even use their account anymore, but didn't bother deleting it.

I think that many fans followed him at the beginning, because they really thought that Gerard would write intelligent blogs and tweets. I guess, if they could, they would have stopped following him a long time ago.

I can't help but want to Twitter Ray back and tell him how this child might have learnt these horriblr words. Maybe from a certain band that he once brought on tour with his band. They use and encourage that language all the time.

Notice how he mentions his concerns for the future of gaming and NOT for the future of mankind. What the world coming to where a child can use those words so openly and the adult who hears them is only concerned about gaming and not the child himself?

They're ignorant and hypocrites.
Isn't it funny that Ray complains about a 10-year-old calling him a homo and a nigger, but seems to be totally fine with his band member and friend Bob the flop Bryar posting the word cunt?
I just can't understand how those stupid assholes could manage it to get that old without anyone trying to shoot them?

I'm sure Siobhan will cry her eyes out if Ray blocks her *sarcasm*. If she suddenly because distraught and touchy about Fantastic Ray, we'll know why.

But will Ray actually read her comment? She is filthy commoner how is beneath such Rock Gods like MCR......apparently.

Anonymous said...

Well, he already answered a girl, who told him to call that boy a little bastard the next time, or something along those lines.
I think that I won't get an answer, because he simply wouldn't know what to say.
As we all might have realized by now, the persons in MCR have become masters in shutting out everything that could endanger the little bubble of rakwstaa divinity and sanctity they're living in.
Anything that mustn't be true, is not true.

I just read an interesting review of the Kings of Leon concert in Tampa, FL last night. It seems that some bands understand that there is a global economic crisis right now.

From the Tampa Tribune:

Caleb expressed the band's gratitude by saying, "In times like these, there are a lot of things you could be spending your money on and you chose this. That's special, so thank you!"

It's nice to know that there are bands out there who are grateful to their fans for their success.

How long do you think it'll be til MCR start saying that?

I find that to be hilarious because somehow I'm hoping that MCR don't consider themselves to be rock gods, but if they think they are, no any other band out there will agree with them. There's a lot of rock bands out there who thinks Geetard and his band sucks.

Hell, even Deathstars don't like them.

Blogger's been doing that for a while. It is annoying as fuck, but there's a way around it. If you put the punctuation after the code: (like >!) it will post your comment normally, although the exclamation point does look a little weird, standing to attention like that when the other words are leaning. ;D

I still wonder why Leathermouth deleted MSI from their top 10 (or whatever) list on MySpace when the finished touring with them.

I still doubt that Gerard has that much power to force the other band members to put up with people (MSI and Lindsey, respectively) if they actually don't like them, but in Ray's case (although he also appears to be quite full of himself), I actually think that he doesn't answer to our tweets, because he knows exactly that we're right and I also think that he can't stand them or at least their image as a band either.

Don't they think about what they're saying?

Anonymous said...

That Tasteit tv interview with her was so painful to watch. She was trying so hard to be all deep and meaningful, half of what she said didn't make sense. It seemed af if she had watched a few of Gerard's old interviers and was trying to repeat the crap that he comes out with.

Anonymous said...

11.24 I agree. It was very apparent that she had never been asked about anything like that before. It was painful to watch. And she had definitely cribbed some shit from GW's interviews. I imagine the conversation between her and GW re the impending interview going something like this:

"Honey, guess what? I'm doing my first solo interview tomorrow."

"Oh really baby, you are fucking amaaaayzing you know that! Who is interviewing you?"

"Some European chick called Briggy from Tasteslikeshit TV or something?"

*spits out mouthful of coffee*

"Holy fuck wife, she is gonna ask you some deep shit about feminism and female roles in a band!"

"Femi...wha?"

"OK give me 10 mins and I'll email you some youtube links of some of my more convincing interviews. Learn them off by heart and recite as necessary."

"Oh fuck Gerard I can't really be bothered, I was about to go get loaded with Jimmy Piss."

"Wife, this is fucking important, I have a reputation to protect here!"

"Repu...wha?"

"Just watch the links please amaaayzing wife and you should pull the wool over most of the fangirls eyes."

Bridgette (not sure of spelling) obviously only interviewed her because of her association with Gerard. Probably no one had ever asked any member of MSI a serious question before that interview. The crazy thing is that some fans on buzznet at the time thought it was an awesome interview!

Why does this place have to be credible?
For whom?
For me, this blog is like any other celebrity gossip blog out there on the internet.

Sometimes, people post intelligent and thoughtful comments.

Sometimes, they are just being silly.

Sometimes, they are mean and snarky.

Sometimes, they indulge in the weirdest conspiracy theories concerning certain celebrities and

sometimes, they're just plain bored and post utter crap.

Let's not fool ourselves here. I think, by now, we've realized that the imbeciles in MCR and the other morons associated with them, don't give a fuck about what's being said here (or on Twitter) and what we think about them. It's not as if someday someone of them suddenly has an epiphany and comes here to enlighten themselves.
So, why don't we just have fun and keep on mocking them for their stupidity and discuss the weirdos, who pretend to be in the know?

Well, what is so wrong with that? I have an idea! Instead of thinking Geetard is a bad guy why don't we all share stories of how he saved our lives! I will start. One morning i was watching videos. Helena came on and i watched it. If it wasn't for me sitting there and watching that video, i could of been in a car and got hit by a truck! Thank you Gerard for saving my life!! Is that better? ^_~

Anonymous said...

I think we should all share our stories of how Gerard/MCR saved our lives. Here is mine:

I was at Projekt Revolution when all of a sudden this truck appeared out of nowhere! I realized with horror that it was going to hit me. Luckily, Gerard Way was there. At the last moment, he pushed me out of the way and jumped in front of the truck himself. I was safe.

As for Gerard, his superpowers kept him from being killed or severely injured. However, he was badly concussed and completely disoriented. He kept telling everyone who ran over to check on him that he loved them and wanted to spend the rest of his life with them.

Someone suggested that we call 911, but Lyn-Z from Mindless Self Indulgence came running up and told everyone that he would be fine and that she would take him back to her tour bus and take care of him.

The rest is history.
