".... I've become hateful towards all humans in general....."

Maybe I should have titled this "douchebag disease is contagious"....

Bob Bryer used his Twitter account to write the word "c--t" for all his fans and call it "art" and then, apparently according to someone at the NIN news site, he made a dick move in basically stealing his friend's idea and votes for making money for an animal shelter. Yes an animal shelter got money but he screwed over someone else to do it.

Feel free to pick up the conversations you left off on the other post.....

that is a lot of music to catch up on. I used to like MCR never cared about twilight.

i can see how teens would identify with the book as it is all so romantic and clean.

adult relationships are actually messy, dirty and damn hard work!

another visual kei band i really like, despairs ray, have been together for ten years. i respect a band that has that kind of longevity and still can work creatively together, and produce great music.

I think you not only have to have respect for the other people in the band and have fun with them.

And it looks like the Watchmen vinyl single has already been leaked. Good luck to them trying to sell it now. As if anyone would actually buy vinyl nowadays anyway.

Really? Where?

Oh, and I actually think Mama Way has more class then Lindsey because I've yet to see her vagina lips or evidence suggesting she married Donald for money.

Since Gerard grew up poor and in a shitty area, it implies that Mama Way married for love, unlike her slutty daughter-in-law who has "golddigger" written all over her.

You lot must have a rather cynical view on life, if all you can see is the bad in these people. Especially since I would guess none have wronged you personally.

I've never even heard of this Gerard bloke, or any of the rest, as my mate who's a fan sent me this link. But I must say after reading a few of these comments I feel sorry for the lot.

Wait you have never heard of Gerard but your friend is a fan. Stop with the BS. If you knew nothing of this why would you come here let alone make a comment.

"You lot must have a rather cynical view on life,"

The same could be said of you if you feel the need to come on a blog and tell people you don't know who haven't personally wronged you that you feel sorry for them.

You have something to say go ahead and say it but cut the bullshit of not knowing who the people are that we are talking about and stop trying to make people feel bad for expressing their opinions.

There are few things worse in this world than people who try to stop another person from speaking their mind by belittling them.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

I find it hard to believe that someone who knows nothing about GW would come here are even care what we have to say. I think they would laugh and just leave us be.

Anonymous said...

2:05 - you're full of it. You know exactly who Gerard is otherwise you'd have never clicked on yout mates like and you certainly wouldn't have care enough to post a comment.

And if you never heard of them, then you have no idea why we're disappointed in MCR, especially Gerard. Because you know nothing, it makes your point invalid. Sorry. But if you know nothing, you can't comment because you don't know what your talking about.

EPIC. FAIL.

You seem to be one of those MCR fan girls who think that if they comment here as someone who allegedly doesn't know anything about the band or doesn't care would be seen as somebody whose opinion is more valid since they supposedly have nothing to do with the fandom and thus have nothing and/or nobody to protect from our 'vicious' views on the poor, poor MCR.
I think you've already realized that neither of us has fallen for your little rant.
So, go back to BN or wherever you came from and leave us alone.

Exactly!
As if some friend would give their friend a link to a site where people talk about a band although that friend doesn't know this band. What would be the use in reading this blog if you don't give a damn about that band, let alone ever heard of them?
And as if friends wouldn't talk about their favorite music bands and the things they're into.
Ridiculous!

Anonymous said...

Hello Siobhan. I know, it is ridiculous. I still don't understand why people feel the need to comment and tell us how pathetic we are. If they have a problem, go rant about it elsewhere with people who feel the same. Its not like we're littering THEIR blogs with OUR dissaproval. They come here on their own, we don't make them.

I couldn't agree more and I can't understand it either.
I've given up hope to talk with people on BN in a civilized way. There were a few who shared my sentiments but they either left or just decided to follow suit and keep their real feelings towards the band to themselves.

I think they only want to piss us off. That's why they mostly only comment once and then shuffle off to their fa(n)scist MCRmy messageboards to tell their tale of making it to the enemy turf and leaving their shit bombs behind before they left to get back to the glorious place of blind idolatry, where individualism and freethinking has to be left outside before they enter.

Fangirls make no sense.

Do you know what weird thought came to my mind reading about Eliza being in L. A.?
Wouldn't it be crazy if Gerard didn't just cheat on his ex-girlfriend (aka Kat or whatever) with Eliza but also cheats on Lindsey with her?

Anonymous said...

Okay, so you know how people always talk about what a crap singer Bob Dylan is or that they can't understand anything he says when he sings?

Yeah, well wait til they hear MCR's Desolation Row. You can understand Dylan a hell of a lot better.

To say it sucks would be an understatement.

You might be on to something there. Eliza's always willing and we all know she's obsessed (still!) with Gerard so I think she'll be up for it.

Gerard - once a cheater, always a cheater.

And Lindsey, she pregnant, which means she's either horny as hell or is disinterested in sex. If she is disinterested then I can see Gerard straying.

I can see that.

Oddly, the post with the download says in capital letters "FEEL FREE TO SHARE THIS LINK".

I wouldn't have bought the track myself, but I bet there are a lot of girls who would have downloaded it from iTunes when it becomes available. Now they won't because they don't have to.

I guess the fangirls' love for Gerard and Lindsey doesn't extend so far as wanting to help them get money to buy diapers for the baby.

Anonymous said...

Do you have a link to the download? I've only heard 30 seconds - I thought it sucked but I think you can't really get a feel for a song after that short amount of time. I'd like to hear it all to see if I actually like it. It might restore some of my faith in the band.

I doubt it though. =(

Anonymous said...

And Lindsey, she pregnant, which means she's either horny as hell or is disinterested in sex. If she is disinterested then I can see Gerard straying.

If Lindsey is like most women (although it's Lindsey so who knows?) she's probably preoccupied with the baby right now. She's probably not constantly telling Gerard how wonderful he is right now. Also, he's not on tour and fangirls aren't screaming how much they love him. So I can see him needing some validation right now. Eliza would be more than willing to give it to him I bet.

Anonymous said...

I really think that this could be possible. Eliza seems to love to play with fire and if she gave hints to people through her MySpace back then as to how deep her friendship with Gerard was at that time, those baby pics could be a hint too. ^_^

Yeah, his voice is a mess. It's been going downhill for the last few years now.

The song, I must say, doesn't completely suck. It is cheap, generic, pop/punk - catchy in a way that is very mainstream.

But, it has completely lost the art of Dylan's original. There is no feeling, no emotion, no story anymore. Basically, they tore out the meaning.

Anonymous said...

At the top is the preview, you don't have to download it.

Anonymous said...

I love whoever had the balls to give him that painting.

In case you can't make it out, it's a Revenge-era Gerard singing with the words "sell out" written over the top. Hence, Gerard's response.

Anonymous said...

A typical punk rock song. Nothing special at all. *yawns*

If I was a fan I would probably buy it only to have it in my collection, but since I'm not I don't give a fuck.

Thanks for the link, anon!

Anonymous said...

The music is good, but Gerard really lets it down with his vocals. I really don't see this song being successful outside the MCR community.

Martha Smith-Jones said...

If it wasn't for Gerard's voice I wouldn't have know that was MCR. It is very hard to understand him especially at the beginning of the song.

There was no feeling in that song.

Anonymous said...

I don't think it will do good either because anyone who was ever a Dylan fan or not a MCR fan seems to be getting really pissed about this cover.

Alot of people are really strong Dylan fans - a hell of alot more than there are MCR fangirls.

Anonymous said...

But, it has completely lost the art of Dylan's original. There is no feeling, no emotion, no story anymore. Basically, they tore out the meaning.

My thoughts exactly.

I get what they were trying to do, but I think it fails because the lyrics get lost here.

The dirty punk feeling of the track does fit with the overall tone of Watchmen, but why did they have to do it to this song?

Anonymous said...

The fact that the director approved this (and according to Gerard, even approached him about doing it for the soundtrack) has me a bit worried.

I love Watchmen, but the film is either going to be excellent or it's going to completely suck. There can be no in between with this project. Every Watchmen fan I know feels the same way.

I hope this isn't an indicator of what the whole film is going to be like. If so, the director has fucked up royally.

Anonymous said...

I think if it was bullets or Revenge MCR they could have made it work. I think they would have put more of an effort into making it sound good.

That doesn't sound like them going back to their roots. That sounds like a pop band trying to be punk

Anonymous said...

Do they put every crap on Guitar Hero?

No, but they better not put this on there. Dylan fans would stage a revolt.

Anonymous said...

I think the whole "going back to their punk roots" thing is just a cover for the fact that Gerard has totally destroyed what little vocal talent he originally had with drugs, cigarettes and constant touring. He can sound like shit and then say "Oh but I meant to sound like that."

Martha Smith-Jones said...

I wonder what the video will be like.

Anonymous said...

I think they're 'abusing' this song to introduce their new image.

Exactly. They thought using Dylan would bring in all those fans, and give them that respect. However, it's done the exact opposite.

Also, in all Gerard's interviews about the bands he has liked, he never once mentioned Dylan. I don't think he was even a fan.

Anonymous said...

I wonder what the video will be like.

Gerard making stupid faces for the camera, Frank jumping around a lot, Ray banging his head while playing the solo, a few shots of Bob and Mikey...

Same as every other MCR video.

LOL. If he thinks that "emoting" for the camera can substitute the emotion he ripped out of this song, he is very sorely mistaken.

Watchmen is amazing. It's more like a piece of literature than a comic. It was incredibly ahead of its time and it changed comics forever. Kind of like Dylan and how he changed the face of rock music, you know? Nobody ever thought about combining social commentary with rock n roll before Dylan.

I was really excited about the film because the casting and the overall feeling I got from the trailer seemed perfect. Now I'm not so sure. :(

Actually, that lyric is quoted at the end of the first chapter of Watchmen. Other Dylan songs (along with Elvis Costello, the bible, Percy Bysshe Shelley, etc.) are quoted at the end of all the chapters.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I've heard that. And I must say that it is the only comic I've seriously considering reading.

But now with MCR involved with the movie, something is stopping me. Which is a shame, really.

I see your point, especially if you haven't read the comic. But essentially, the comic isn't so much about superheroes as it is about the state of mankind and how close the world is to being on the brink of destruction. Most of the "heroes" have no real superpowers (with the exception of Dr. Manhattan) at all. They're just ordinary people trying to do what's right in a world that's gone mad.

And yes, I'm a total geek and I'm shutting up now. (But read the comic. You won't regret it.)

I don't doubt that he said that, considering how he pulls stuff out of his ass all of the time (MSI were MCR's biggest supporters, etc.) to fit with whatever he happens to be doing at the moment.

I wonder if the others have a say concerning the song writing? It always sounds as if Gerard writes all the songs. It's always about his experiences, his life, his feelings.
This really seems to be a one-man-show and the others are merely extras.
Maybe that's why they're all kissing his ass and Frank is using LM as an escape?
What do you think?

I definitely remember him mentioning Watchmen prior to news of the movie/song.

And if he did say it was his favorite after saying others were, fine. GOD FORBID he change his mind on such an important issue as his favorite comic.

And Siobhan, I actually remember a quote, from Ray I'm pretty sure, saying that basically MCR was Gerard's project/brainchild. It was from the BP era I think. I just remember that it made me wonder why the band wasn't named Gerard Way and His Chemical Romance.

Anonymous said...

"We're all a bunch of liars. Tell me Baby who do you want to be?"

"Sometimes your scraping seems so low, I'm shocked at what you're capable off."

- Kill All Your Friends

Sums up MCR and Gerard perfectly, doesn't it?

Anonymous said...

I think Gerard does write all of the lyrics, but they've said in the past that everyone contributes musically.

I have seen interviews where it looks like Frank is actually cringing at things Gerard says. He's probably thinking "Boy, did he just pull that one out of his ass or what?"

Anonymous said...

Yeah, Frank's head sharply turns to Gerard and he gets "WTF!" face. Like he can't believe what he's saying.

Wow. Overreaction.

I don't see how Frank and Ray can just continue to be Gerard's yes men. Ray seemed so uncomfortable in that damn Black Parade uniform and I remember watching the making of the video for GOY where Frank was kind of bitching about having to wear the army uniform.

I think they both do a lot of shit they would rather not do, just because Gerard wants it.

Anonymous said...

HAHAHAHAHA! That was the pic I was looking for!
This is so true!

Anonymous said...

I think they both do a lot of shit they would rather not do, just because Gerard wants it.

Gerard seems to be more about gimicks.

Frank and Ray have always been about music. Frank loves punk and Ray loves metal. I think they're happy as long as they are playing. I also thing they are both very loyal to their friends.

Anonymous said...

Lol @ Steven's face in that pic!

I've noticed Steven looking at Gerard like "WTF?" a few times myself. Especially during that PR interview where Gerard was on about finding the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

Steven looked like, "Okay, can we get this guy a straight jacket or something?"

I wonder at what point they probably stopped being friends and started being business partners who are just doing a job together to earn money and beyond that don't really give a fuck about each other anymore and just pretend for the press?

Anonymous said...

I feel sorry for Steven having to keep interviewing MCR, um Gerard, um MCR.

Wait! It's Gerard with MCR in the background.

Anonymous said...

I also thing they are both very loyal to their friends.

How long can that last, though? Maybe I've seen one too many episodes of Behind the Music, but it just seems like the friendships would eventually fall apart.

Anonymous said...

I think Steven used to really genuinely like MCR, but as time went on, ever since their Bamboozle interview with him, he seems to have become turned off by Gerard's behavior. The last interview he did with them he didn't really seem to even give a fuck anymore. His enthusiasm seemed fake.

I say this because I think it is very telling.

Anonymous said...

Ray looks as if he is rolling a joint and thinking Yeah, whatever, man!

Oh, I agree completely. I think in the beginning, Steven thought they were a bunch of nice, genuine guys who made good music. Eventually he came to see them as being full of shit.

Steven is one of us!

I think Ray will stay loyal, but Frank will eventually snap. Ray doesn't seem very confrontational. Frank's already known for bitching about Gerard and Mikey when they aren't around like at MSG. Plus, I think deep down, Frank is just itching to be a frontman and be listened to instead of it always being Gerard in the limelight. I think if Leathermouth really take off (which I doubt because they're shit) then Frank will leave and drop bitchy hints and clues about live with Gerard and the rest of MCR.

I got really pissed off by that Bamboozle interview with Steven which the pic is from. I remember them talking about the countries they've seen and their different experiences with the audience in those countries. When the were talking about Germany Frank said defeated and he and Gerard cracked up about it. This was the first moment in which I felt so unbelievably hurt that I wanted to kill that son of bitch and slice him into little pieces and feed him to stray dogs.

Yeah, but poor Steven still has to speak with them and kiss their asses for the sake of his job.

I don't think I saw that interview, Siobhan. Can you give me a link or maybe a summary?

Um, if they were talking about WWII, I believe Mussolini played a rather large part in that, so, you know. Frank might just want to keep his mouth shut.

According to fans backstage at MSG, Frank was complaining about what a dick Gerard was.

Frank has also bitched about Gerard and Frank on a Fuse interviews. He was saying how the Way Brothers smelt really bad and that their smell clung to everything that they or their clothes touched.

He also bitched about Mikey having long toenails.

But you do hear Gerard say "we gotta omit that" so at least he knew it was out of line.

Yeah, and someone should tell Gerard that the Scottish frequently get their asses kicked too and he should believe everything he sees in Braveheart.

Anonymous said...

Okay. Yeah. Totally unnecessary. Frank's an ass.

Anonymous said...

But you do hear Gerard say "we gotta omit that" so at least he knew it was out of line.

Well woo-hoo for him. Give that man a medal for realising his band mate just offended an entire country.

Or not.

Anonymous said...

It's just that I really liked them back then and when I heard that comment from Frank I thought No, please! Not them, too!!!. I didn't want to believe that they see us Germans like so many other people in the world do. It pisses me off big time that everything people are thinking of when they hear the word Germany is Nazis, Hitler and WWII! Oh, and I forgot Oktoberfest and Bratwurst! YAY!!!!

And Frank gets a punch on the arm from Bob. Bob must have a little German in him then.

That's the kind of shit that makes me really angry. As an American, I can tell you that as a country, so many of us don't know shit about the war aside from the bullshit propaganda we're fed.

Frank is probably one of those dumbasses that, if asked who won WWI, he'd say, "The Americans."

Yes, you'd be surprised at how stupid some Americans can be, but I'm sure you could find incredible stupidity all over the world.

Generalizing that all Americans are stupid is just as bad as saying Germans are "defeated".

So, get over yourself.

Anonymous said...

Um, I believe the term used was "some". Nobody said all Americans are stupid.

I think that's the case with most of us, Siobhan. It wasn't just any one thing; it was a lot of things added together over a period of time that made us realize that they aren't the people we thought they were.

This is why it's so annoying when people come here with the "you're jus jeluzz!11" bullshit, when MSI and Lindsey were just one of many things that contributed to our dislike of this band.

It started way before MSI and Lindsey for me. Even before Eliza. There were many other things that ticked me off and made me doubt their honesty and loyalty towards their fans.

Apparently Martha, you have never heard of the concepts of nationalism, patriotism, propaganda, etc.

There is nothing America has done that is new, it has all been done before - and that includes the blinding and dumbing down of the citizens.

I am not defending what America has done, in any way, shape or form. I am just saying that not everyone has fallen for the bullshit.

I know you said SOME, but I was just stating my opinion on the matter.

I really don't think that all Americans think that way. NOT AT ALL!!
But I certainly don't want to hear comments like that from my favorite rock band (back then), even when meant as a joke, who then come to my country and tell us Germans what a wonderful country this is and how they love the German fans and also gladly take our money to maintain their fancy rock 'n' roll lifestyle and buying their wives expensive handbags from Yves Saint Laurent.

Plus, this isn't even the place for this. So why was I jumped on for merely stating that not all Americans are stupid? I was only defending my intelligence.

Ridiculous.
