Sensible people don't elevate people to hero status. They also know people make mistakes, sometimes big ones. The difference is working out what's a genuine lack of judgement or an attempt to fool someone.

I have my thoughts on this. I think the majority of people attracted to this band are people who were looking for something something they felt was missing in their lives, or in themselves and this band resonated with them on this level. That's why it's gets personel: because it goes deep.

Those people are ignorant. I don't think they really think for themselves and are more likely to follow the crowd.

I agree with you here, especially when it comes to the way MCR portrayed themselves a few years ago. But this current incarnation that goes about spewing hateful things on twitter and writing lyrics that don't seem to mean anything -- I don't see how fans can identify with that.
If something terrible happened to you personally while still disliking MCR or Gerard Way at Mayo's you were told you were attention seeking and shouldn't be feeling the way you do.
Allow me to bear personal witness to this.
I think what separates the MCR crazies from the regular fans is that the crazies don't want to allow anyone to dislike the band. They would force the rest of the world to love them if they could. How insane is that?
They still identify with them because they see their current incantation as some sort of evolution. In their mind he's happy now, so he can say what he likes and they will justify it as being himself, and still follow him.

What blows my mind, Kapunua, is that they continue to stalk you even now. I think they hate that you spoke your mind, yet the person they thought was their hero still liked you and respected your intelligence. It makes them crazy. Well, crazier than they already were, which is really saying something.
I also noticed some tweets about how justified he was in the smash faces comment as the Jersey in him was trying to protect his wife and child against all the hateful comments against LW.
