I thought this was relevant to this blog's interests because "turning racist" (really misogynist) and/or getting involved with a racist band was obviously such a huge turning point, and was part of what created this blog and drawing everyone here. I also thought it was really funny.
But thank you JGL fans. For introducing me to a little movie called Brick. It was a masterpiece. I just watched Stop Loss recently and he was really good in that too.

A few reviews have been trickling in for Hesher. So far most of them have been decent, and even the people who don't like the film have good things to say about Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance.

He's a can't-miss attraction in a movie that goes nowhere, and with the odds high that the Sundance flick will get swooped up for an indie release, odds are he'll be a cult hero for a new generation, assuming badass audiences can get past all that killjoy plot about grief.

If this film manages to breakout when it finally gets a general release, I could see this being an iconic role for Levitt. He's one of those guys who, over the last few years, has really started to come into his own, giving a series of impressive performances in films like MYSTERIOUS SKIN, MANIC, 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, STOP-LOSS. Levitt's incredible is this, which is a big change of pace from 500 DAYS, and goes a long way toward demonstrating his versatility. His foul mouthed HESHER is an incredible creation, and some of his lines (particularly his climatic monologue about his testicles), are pure gold, and sure to become oft-quoted.

I worry about Grant Morrison's influence too. Grant's is/was very outspoken about being pro-drugs for 'artists' because he believes it opens you up, takes away your barrier of fear and enables you to be more creative.
