Someone sent me a great link in my inbox today that I want to share with you all. These are a lot of the excuses we hear from the MSICR camp and defenders...
The Art of Defending Racism
Saying or doing something racist will come naturally to you- but defending it? You’ll want to use one of the following tactics. ...
Tactical options:
A. It’s not that serious
1. We didn’t know better (and we never will)
2. You’re too sensitive
3. It’s not a big deal because it’s just (a movie, a song, a book, words, etc.)
4. Why should we care? (You don't matter anyway)
....
B. But!
...
7. We’re not discriminating AS MUCH (as other people/as we used to), isn’t that good?!? Give me a cookie.
...
C. Dismissal!
1. You’re oppressing me by making me be “PC”
2. You’re too stupid to be in this conversation and everything you say doesn’t matter
3. Racism is over now
4. If we don’t talk about it, it’ll magically go away
5. Under my definition- it’s not racist
6. You’re too angry/You’re being irrational
...
Denial of impact:
Denial of impact involves a person avoiding thinking about or understanding the harms their behavior have caused to themselves or others. By doing this, that person is able to avoid feeling a sense of guilt and it can prevent that person from developing remorse or empathy for others.
This is a really old link but it's pretty good and it reminded me of some of what people say here in defense of these people.
I think the same thing goes for misogyny and homophobia presented in these lyrics, comments and lifestyles too.

Anon, go play with your diamonds. I think I know exactly who you are also. If I'm right. Kapu, am I? Are you thinking the same thing?
Well I'm not wild about naming names. I think it's bad form, darling. ^_^
You mustn't be afraid to dream a bit bigger darling. ;D ;D ;D
Gross.
lol
William Gibson is dead. You just don't know it yet.
He, his patterns and fragmented roses are being buried as we speak.
I love these guessing games.
Can we guess which anons are Kapu now?
I would say any anon that says Lynz looks years older than her age is Kapu.
She likes the words stop deflecting and true colors too. I think any anon using those words are her.
Any negative comments about Siobhan are probably her too. She hated Siobhan for calling her out on her hypocrisy and lies.
zzzzz
And you know any negative comments about Punks are her. She's probably the one here with the serious weight issues.
You think she's the one with the middle aged women problems too?
She can't be since she's around the same age as them.
How old is VV? Anyone know?
I'm surprised she lets all that age discrimination go on.
Yeah. This blog has been boring since Siobhan and her friends were run off. Nothing but self righteous biatches here now.
zzzzzzz
Called it: troll. The usual.
12:58: FLAILYHANDS! :D
Kapunua just ignore them. Mayo's is dull that's why they are here.
William Gibson is dead. You just don't know it yet.
He, his patterns and fragmented roses are being buried as we speak.
What a shock! You actually recognize something he wrote. Read them and do your brain a favor.
William gibson might not dead but JGL brothe is.
Everyone dies eventually.
I'm not saying to be mean but he was a drug adict. Thats what happen to them.
What are you getting at 1:34?
Gerard or LynZ being on drug would led to the same thing. And probaly will.
I don't know JGL, but I would never, ever be so callous about anyone's loss.
What in the world do you hope to achieve by saying something like that? You are only hurting yourself, anon. And, you're proving to the world what a cold, unfeeling person you are.
I feel sorry for you.
You have no proof they are 1:35.
I dont have proof but I believe it.
Porn is so much more interesting than this blog and its various trolls right now. Bye! :)
I agree Kapunua porn is more interesting.
I dont have proof but I believe it
I hope you're wrong.
You were the one who started it but when you get called on your bullshit you run away yelling it's a troll.
You're full of bs 1:59. If you are against censorship then you should expect criticism or mocking. You cannot have it both ways or only to suit you when it suits you.
"You can say the pledge of allegiance any time you want.
Me, I never said it once I got into high school, "
If you hate America you are free to move out of it.
If America is "land of the free" then the free are free to criticize it.
If the free cannot criticize it as well as praise it, then it might as well be a totalitarian state.
The pledge of allegiance is to the flag, not to America (which is a continent by the way, not a country).
I have never once seen her praise it.
"The pledge of allegiance is to the flag, not to America (which is a continent by the way, not a country)."
That's the stupidest thing I've ever read from you Kapunua.
The flag represents the country. And everyone does call it "America" whether you like it or not. The continent is NORTH America by the way.
Free people are not forced to pledge allegiance. That's the very nature of freedom.
So you go out and vote today for your precious "rights" but you don't even acknowledge that you HAVE those rights because you live in AMERICA. Nowhere else would you have rights like you have here. NO WHERE.
I have never once seen her praise it
That's why you are the "land of the free". You don't have to.
So you go out and vote today for your precious "rights" but you don't even acknowledge that you HAVE those rights because you live in AMERICA. Nowhere else would you have rights like you have here. NO WHERE.
Don't be so insular and ignorant. Most westernized countries have the same rights. Do your homework.
And better healthcare. USA is pretty bad with health care.
Unless you have $$$$ of course.
The health care system is something that has to be addressed in the USA. Why can't you look after all your own people, not just the wealthy? Most European countries and Australia have a system that address this anomaly.
Americans are smug, fat and stupid. They think they are the only country in the world with any standard of living. People in many European countries are more 'free' than Americans ever will be.
Your education system is horrendous. Your have no health care system.
And you eat nasty, fake 'cheese' on everything.
Nowhere else would you have rights like you have here. NO WHERE.
And Americans wonder why most of the world regards them as stupid.
Don't paint us all with one broad brush, darling. We're not all like that and saying so makes you sound as ignorant as the Americans who act that way.
Other governments have money to spend on health care because they spend zero dollars on national defense. They rely on AMERICA to protect them.
America doesn't do much protecting. Invading maybe. Those "other countries" you mention don't have oil, remember.
And the pendulum swings backwards tonight.
Seriously Mya? You are still trolling here? Honestly, I thought better of you.
Woot Woot
Other governments have money to spend on health care because they spend zero dollars on national defense. They rely on AMERICA to protect them.
That again is a very ignorant statement made by you. America very rarely goes to any war alone: they seek and request the support of their allies, the European nations, the United Kingdom and Australian. Countries that saw fit to invest in their health structure for the people of their country in addition supporting their own defense system and equipping their military.
Don't paint us all with one broad brush, darling. We're not all like that and saying so makes you sound as ignorant as the Americans who act that way.
I agree with you Kapunua.
Americans are smug, fat and stupid. They think they are the only country in the world with any standard of living. People in many European countries are more 'free' than Americans ever will be.
Your education system is horrendous. Your have no health care system.
And you eat nasty, fake 'cheese' on everything.
I think you are generalizing, I don't think all Americans think this way.
As a non-American, I believe America is a great nation with wonderful people who have made many contributions and sacrifices for a freer world.
Unfortunately, the rigid views held by a portion of Americans, such as our conservative visitor, represent the stereotypical American for many people that reside outside of America.
Whatever possessed MCR to think they could play at a football game, even in London?
They sounded horrible without all the screaming girls to mask Gerard's off-key "singing", and the guys in the audience were like WTF?
I couldn't watch the whole video because of second hand embarrassment. I don't think Gerard hit a single note from WTTBP.
By CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press Calvin Woodward, Associated Press – 2 hrs 9 mins ago
WASHINGTON – Republicans drew on the support of independents and the energy of tea party activists to fashion a resounding victory in the House in midterm elections, increased their strength in the Senate and quickly served notice they intend to challenge President Barack Obama with a conservative approach to the economy.
"We hope President Obama will now respect the will of the people, change course, and to commit to making changes they are demanding," Ohio Rep. John Boehner, the House speaker-in-waiting, told cheering partisans as GOP gains mounted Tuesday night.
Obama called Boehner to offer congratulations, and also telephoned Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and top Democrats in a series of conversations that reflected the shifting balance of power.
The Republican leaders penciled in a late-morning news conference, to be followed a short while later by Obama's own meeting with reporters at the White House.
But with the economy still struggling to shake off the effects of the worse recession in decades, the Federal Reserve was expected to unveil a new program designed to further lower interest rates on mortgages and other loans. The hope is that would eventually prompt companies to step up hiring and create new jobs.
Incomplete returns showed the GOP picked up at least 60 House seats — the biggest party turnover in more than 70 years — and led for four more, far in excess of what was needed for a majority. About two dozen races remained too close to call.
On their night of triumph, Republicans also gained at least six Senate seats, and tea party favorites Rand Paul in Kentucky, Mike Lee in Utah and Marco Rubio in Florida were among their winners.
Not all the tea party insurgents won. Christine O'Donnell lost badly in Delaware, for a seat that Republican strategists once calculated would be theirs with ease. And in Nevada, Majority Leader Harry Reid dispatched Sharron Angle in an especially costly and brutal campaign in a year filled with them.
His win left three races still unresolved — in Colorado, Washington and Alaska, where Sen. Lisa Murkowski ran as a write-in candidate after losing the Republican nomination earlier this fall.
The GOP also wrested 10 governorships from the Democrats, Ohio and Pennsylvania among them, and gave two back, California and Hawaii.
In New York, Andrew Cuomo won the office his father, Mario, held for three terms. And in California, Jerry Brown, was successful in his bid for a comeback to the governor's office he occupied for two terms more than a quarter-century ago.
The biggest win by far was the House, a victory made all the more remarkable given the drubbing Republicans absorbed at the hands of Democrats in the past two elections. Their comeback was aided by independents, who backed GOP candidates for the first time since 2004, by a margin of 55 percent to 39 percent. Women backed Democrats 49-48, after favoring them by a dozen points in recent elections.
The takeaways came in bunches — five Democratic-held seats each in Pennsylvania and Ohio and three in Florida and Virginia. Incumbents sent to defeat included three committee chairmen, Ike Skelton in Missouri, James Oberstar in Minnesota and John Spratt in South Carolina, as well as Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania, in Congress more than a quarter-century.
With unemployment at 9.6 percent nationally, interviews with voters revealed an extraordinarily sour electorate, stressed financially and poorly disposed toward the president, the political parties and the federal government.
Sen.-elect Paul, appearing Tuesday night before supporters in Bowling Green, Ky., declared, "We've come to take our government back."
About four in 10 voters said they were worse off financially than two years ago, according to exit polls and pre-election surveys. More than one in three said their votes were an expression of opposition to Obama. More than half expressed negative views about both political parties. Roughly 40 percent of voters considered themselves supporters of the conservative tea party movement. Less than half said they wanted the government to do more to solve problems.
Republicans were certain of at least six Senate pickups, including the seat in Illinois that Obama resigned to become president. Rep. Mark Kirk won there, defeating Alexi Giannoulias.
Democratic Sens. Russell Feingold in Wisconsin and Blanche Lincoln in Arkansas were turned out of office. In addition, Republicans scored big in races for Democratic seats without incumbents on the ballot. Former Rep. Pat Toomey won a close race in Pennsylvania, North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven won easily there, and former Sen. Dan Coats breezed in a comeback attempt for the Indiana seat he voluntarily gave up a dozen years ago.

including the seat in Illinois that Obama resigned to become president. Rep. Mark Kirk won there, defeating Alexi Giannoulias.
Ouch. That's gotta hurt. That's one of the seats he wanted to keep Dem the most.
Good luck Americans with your tea party.
The people have spoken.
Load and clear.
Americans are stupid. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but it's true.
Instead of giving your President the support he needs in the House, they elect Republicans to stymie every attempt he makes at reform. It's like they don't even know how their own government functions, which is, quite obviously, another example of the failure of the American education system.
I don't paint all of you with one brush. I've known a few intelligent Americans, but the majority are ignorant, as your elections have shown. Why else would they expect your President to turn the world economy around so quickly? Then, instead of giving him help, they give him opposition?
The answer? Stupidity.
The answer? Stupidity.
I think it has more to do with frustration, fear and impatience. Everyone now expects quick solutions to entrenched structural problems. The same thing happened in the British and Australian elections.
It's you who doesn't understand how American gov't functions.
It's a balance of power.
Just because you agree with Pres Obama's policies and you think he has good ideas doesn't mean everybody else feels that way. The majority of Americans don't agree with you as this election has proven.
It's a red, red country today.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/interactive/2010/oct/25/live-election-results-map-us-midterms
It's a balance of power.
It's supposed to be a balance of power. But what the American voting public has done, in essence, is to create a stalemate, where nobody wins and nothing gets done.
Do the majority of Americans vote? I believe it's not compulsory in your country unlike other countries. So it's really only the majority of people that voted and they could be intentional protest votes, that are represented.
Just because you agree with Pres Obama's policies and you think he has good ideas doesn't mean everybody else feels that way.
I am not necessarily an Obama supporter, although, obviously, the American voters supported him and his policies at one time or they would not have elected him.
I'm simply stating that Americans are too impatient to give him time to implement his policies. Now they have made certain that nothing will be done for the next two years.
Does anybody have a link to MCR's performance at the NFL game in London?
Huh? They played at a football game?
Voting is not compulsory in America. It's considered a duty and a privilege.
The voter turn out for this election was above the average turnout for midterm elections.
I wonder whose idea it was to book them for the football.
In 2008 the voter turnout was 56.8%.
In the 2006 midterm elections it was 37.1%
http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0781453.html
That's still not very high for a country with your population.
That's not very high at all. It's really very sad when you think about it.
Just a little over 1/2 of all registered voters in America voted in the last presidential election.
Fewer vote in midterm elections.
Voter turnout in America hasn't been over 60% since 1968.
MCR was invited by the NFL to play at their internat'l series game at Wembley stadium on October 31.
They played 2 songs. Na Na Na and TBP.
So in other words you are represented by a government voted in by just over half the country. So one half determines the future of the other half. Is my assumption correct? If it is, now I can understand why there is so much frustration.
Why do you suppose half the population of the US does not vote?
Are they illiterate?
That is correct.
If you look at the numbers you'll see that there hasn't been an American president elected by over 25% of the American voting age population in over 50 years.
Less than 1/4 of Americans ages 18 + actually voted for Barrack Obama, George Bush, Bill Clinton and so on.
MCR was invited by the NFL to play at their internat'l series game at Wembley stadium on October 31.
I would say it was something more along the lines of Warner negotiated for MCR to play at the International game.
I can imagine their reactions when they were told where they were playing.
Are they illiterate?
No, I'm not going to make that presumption. It's too simplistic. I'm going to assume people are not educated enough on the importance of voting and maybe getting to a polling booth is logistically difficult for some people.
Why do you suppose half the population of the US does not vote?
Are they illiterate?
No. 44% to 50+% of the American voting population is not illiterate. What a silly question that is.
Americans don't vote for the same reasons people in other free countries don't vote.
They don't feel motivated.
They don't think anything will change.
They don't like any of the choices so they abstain.
And for the anon bleating about how the people have spoken , well the haven't really, if you consider it's only a small portion of the country.
The same small portion that elected Obama president and elected the dems in 2006.
Less than 25% of voting age Americans.
The people spoke in 2006 and 2008 and they spoke again in 2010.
Bleating anon can't have it both ways just because you don't like the results this time. Look at the numbers. They don't lie.
More people voted for Al Gore in 2000 than voted for George Bush (a little more than 500,000). Yet because of the way the elections are structured, Bush won more electoral votes.
I think this system is confusing to some people.
I think it could be one of many reasons why many Americans believe their vote doesn't count, so they don't bother.
The American people will speak again in 2012 and bleating anon who isn't even an American will just have to live with those results too.
The American people will speak again in 2012 and bleating anon who isn't even an American will just have to live with those results too.
I believe you are confused.
Bleating anon is the one going on and on about the election and how the "people have spoken", etc.
You know. The troll from Mayo's?
Bleating anon can't have it both ways just because you don't like the results this time. Look at the numbers. They don't lie.
Hey, I'm an outsider looking in making an observation that has nothing to do with liking or disliking results. Your government is not majority voted, that seems to be clear.
I think you mean 50% or so of the American people will speak in 2012.
The rest just can't be arsed.
The American people will speak again in 2012 and bleating anon who isn't even an American will just have to live with those results too.
You mean the a portion of American people will speak again, and you are the one that has to live with those results, not I.
^ a portion
American House of Reps, Senators and Governors are elected by popular vote.
Only the presidency is decided by Electorial votes and those votes are meant to reflect the 50 states populations. To make sure each state has a voice in the election of a president.
Only the presidency is decided by Electorial votes and those votes are meant to reflect the 50 states populations. To make sure each state has a voice in the election of a president.
Regardless, it is an outdated system which was established before the advent of computer tabulation. The "people" of which you speak don't elect the president. The states do.
But aren't electoral representatives elected by popular vote in each state?
Which in turn is not majority represented.
Larger states have more electoral votes. Therefore, if you live in California, your vote is worth more than, say, if you live in Vermont.
This is how Gore got more votes than Bush, yet Bush still became president.
Therefore, the majority doesn't always win.
Electorial votes do reflect the popular votes of each state.
Bush legitimately won in 2000 and again in 2004.
Al Gore was a huge proponent of the electoral college until that 2000 election.
In US presidential elections, the Electoral College is the group of electors who actually cast ballots for the President. When a voter casts a ballot for a presidential candidate, he or she is actually voting for a slate of electors from their state who will cast their ballots for their candidate.
Bush legitimately won in 2000 and again in 2004.
According to the way the election is set up, yes.
That still does not change the fact that Bush did not win the popular vote in 2000.
You can't dispute that.
The Electoral College is a controversial mechanism of presidential elections that was created by the framers of the U.S. Constitution as a compromise for the presidential election process. At the time, some politicians believed a purely popular election was too reckless, while others objected to giving Congress the power to select the president. The compromise was to set up an Electoral College system that allowed voters to vote for electors, who would then cast their votes for candidates, a system described in Article II, section 1 of the Constitution.

Each state has a number of electors equal to the number of its U.S. senators plus the number of its U.S. representatives. Currently, the Electoral College includes 538 electors, 535 for the total number of congressional members, and three who represent Washington, D.C., as allowed by the 23rd Amendment. On the Monday following the second Wednesday in December, the electors of each state meet in their respective state capitals to officially cast their votes for president and vice president. These votes are then sealed and sent to the president of the Senate, who on January 6th opens and reads the votes in the presence of both houses of Congress. The winner is sworn into office at noon on January 20th.
In most presidential elections, a candidate who wins the popular vote will also receive the majority of the electoral votes, but this is not always the case. There have been four presidents who have won an election with fewer popular votes than their opponent but more electoral votes.
In 2000, Al Gore had over half a million votes more than George W. Bush, with 50,992,335 votes to Bush's 50,455,156. But after recount controversy in Florida and a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Bush was awarded the state by 537 popular votes.
Here are the four elections when the candidate who led the popular vote did not win the office:
* 1824: John Quincy Adams received more than 38,000 fewer votes than Andrew Jackson, but neither candidate won a majority of the Electoral College. Adams was awarded the presidency when the election was thrown to the House of Representatives.
* 1876: Nearly unanimous support from small states gave Rutherford B. Hayes a one-vote margin in the Electoral College, despite the fact that he lost the popular vote to Samuel J. Tilden by 264,000 votes. Hayes carried five out of the six smallest states (excluding Delaware). These five states plus Colorado gave Hayes 22 electoral votes with only 109,000 popular votes. At the time, Colorado had been just been admitted to the Union and decided to appoint electors instead of holding elections. So, Hayes won Colorado's three electoral votes with zero popular votes. It was the only time in U.S. history that small state support has decided an election.
* 1888: Benjamin Harrison lost the popular vote by 95,713 votes to Grover Cleveland, but won the electoral vote by 65. In this instance, some say the Electoral College worked the way it is designed to work by preventing a candidate from winning an election based on support from one region of the country. The South overwhelmingly supported Cleveland, and he won by more than 425,000 votes in six southern states. However, in the rest of the country he lost by more than 300,000 votes.
* 2000: Al Gore had over half a million votes more than George W. Bush, with 50,992,335 votes to Bush's 50,455,156. But after recount controversy in Florida and a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, Bush was awarded the state by 537 popular votes. Like most states, Florida has a "winner takes all" rule. This means that the candidate who wins the state by popular vote also gets all of the state's electoral votes. Bush became president with 271 electoral votes.
Today, a candidate must receive 270 of the 538 votes to win the election, so George W. Bush won the 2000 election by one electoral vote. In cases where no candidate wins a majority of electoral votes, the decision is thrown to the House of Representatives by virtue of the 12th Amendment. The House then selects the president by majority vote with each state delegation receiving one vote to cast for the three candidates who received the most electoral votes.
Here are the two elections that were decided by the House of Representatives:
* 1801: Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr, both Democrat-Republicans, received the same number of electoral votes, despite the fact that Burr was running as a vice presidential candidate, not for the presidency. Following 36 successive votes in the House, Jefferson was finally elected president.
* 1825: As mentioned above, Andrew Jackson received a majority of the popular vote over John Quincy Adams, but neither man received a 131-vote majority of electoral votes needed at the time to claim the presidency. Adams won the House vote on the first ballot.
Proponents of the Electoral College say that the system served its purpose in the elections listed above, despite the fact that the candidate who won the popular vote didn't always win the election. The Electoral College is a block, or weighed, voting system that is designed to give more power to the states with more votes, but allows for small states to swing an election, as happened in 1876. Under this system, each state is assigned a specific number of votes that is proportional to its population, so that each state's power is representative of its population. So, while winning the popular vote may not ensure a candidate's victory, a candidate must gain popular support of a particular state to win the votes in that state. The goal of any candidate is to put together the right combination of states that will give him or her 270 electoral votes.
Electoral college for dummies. ;)
That still does not change the fact that Bush did not win the popular vote in 2000.
You can't dispute that.
I don't see anybody trying to dispute that.
Do you know what state those last 500K votes came from? Do you?
They all came from one state. I'm sure you knew that.
Are you saying that Americans should allow Hollywood and Beverly Hills to elect their president?
Hollywood did elect the last president.
He so pretty and smexy.
lulz
Do you know what state those last 500K votes came from? Do you?
They all came from one state. I'm sure you knew that.
Are you saying that Americans should allow Hollywood and Beverly Hills to elect their president?
Lol. California's votes are counted last because they're on the west coast and because there are so many of them.
Are you saying the "last votes counted" don't mean as much as the first?
And by the way, California's votes do count for more than other states because of the way the electoral college you defend so much is set up.
You can't have things both ways. Oh, and your conservative bias is beginning to show through, btw.
Are you saying that Americans should allow Hollywood and Beverly Hills to elect their president?
Oh Hai Mayo troll.
Link to MCR at Wembley.
I suppose it could have been worse. Fans are saying how bad Gerard sounds, but I think he sounds better than he has in a while. He doesn't hit the right notes, but then he never really has in his live performances. At least he sings most of the words instead of breathing hard and letting the crowd carry him.
This crowd probably didn't know the words. They don't look terribly impressed either.
Oh.
That was...
bad.
WTF with going directly into WTTBP with no break? Could there be two more different songs?
Gerard didn't sound so terrible on Na Na Na, but I couldn't listen to WTTBP. So off key. :/
Gerard didn't sound so terrible. I guess you think NFL fans would have preferred 30stm? Haha. Not likely. They should of got a jock band like KOL. Jocks and old washed up farts like Paul McCartney just love them. Or maybe Kasabian. Lol. MCR was too good to play at that shitfest.
What does Paul McCartney have to do with the NFL?
Maybe they should have gotten washed up old farts like Green Day, Justin Timberlake, U2, Taylor Swift, Dave Matthews or The Rolling Stones.
They've all played NFL games.
As far as I know, Paul McCartney has never played an NFL game. What are you talking about?
What does Paul McCartney have to do with the NFL?
The same thing MCR, The Who, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder and the other bands I mentioned do.
They all played NFL games.
Apparently You don't know enough 11:15.

Can you people not read? I said Paul McCartney loves KOL. He is a washed up old fart who wouldn't know good music if it hit him in the face. He also likes Kasabian.

Why? Because they dissed MCR? Get over it. Kasabian disses everybody.
Why is that? Because Kasabian aren't fans of MCR?
Grow up. A lot of bands in the industry either don't know who MCR is or don't like them. Are you going to hate everybody? Even the bands MCR have named as influences who don't know who the hell they are. Like The Misfits, Judas Priest, Henry Rollins and Elvis Costello.
Of all the bands out there why'd he have to pick KOL and Kasabian? MCR showed the Beatles so much respect by naming Sgt. Pepper as an influence. TBP is almost a homage to them. So why couldn't he have at least mentioned them?
No. He has to pick crap bands like KOL and Kasabian who are MCR's enemies.
LMAO 11:38.
You can't be serious? Please tell me you're just trolling.
Fuck you.
Paul knows music and he likes what he hears in KOL and Kasabian.
Maybe he's never heard of MCR.
Just because a band names you as an influence doesn't mean you owe them anything.
Just about every musician out there names one of The Beatles, if not the collective group, as an influence. I know both KOL and Kasabian have.
Taste is subjective. paul Mc likes what he likes and you and I like what we like.
Do you think Beethoven and Bach would have both loved MCR as much as you do? Probably not.
There is no reason to be rude 11;40.
Just because she likes MCR doesn't make her a troll.
Wait. I forgot where I was. Rudeness is to be expected here.
Don't even pretend to be shocked, offended or hurt when you get back what you send out.

such as that.
Kasabian has been getting a lot of positive reviews in the UK the past couple of years. They won the Q Award for best act in the world today. They coheadlined the V Festival with KOL this year (whom they also dissed, by the way).
They may not be your favorite band and they may diss MCR, but they're doing quite well these days despite your hatred of them.
Just because she likes MCR doesn't make her a troll.
Are you serious?
Did you read the other stupid things she said? MCR's enemies, LMAO!
Didn't you know? MCR is so dangerous now, they have enemies. Apparently, Kasabian and KOL. Maybe all bands whose names start with a K.
Didn't you know? MCR is so dangerous now, they have enemies.
They had better bring the juice because MCR have killer clown masks and wear short shorts.
I don't care what you old dried up prunes have to say. MCR deserves respect. Kasabian and Kings of Leon suck, and Paul McCarney is a senile old man who probably has assistants who tell him who to say he likes so he can seem cooler to young people. If he knew music he would of picked MCR.
If he knew music he would of picked MCR.
Maybe he wanted someone that could sing.
They had better bring the juice because MCR have killer clown masks and wear short shorts.
Lol! Kiwi juice, you think? It starts with a 'K', just like Kasabian and KOL.
They had better bring the juice because MCR have killer clown masks and wear short shorts.
Don't forget. MCR has rayguns too.
rayguns AND art.
I'm kind of lost here. How the heck did Paul McCartney get brought up anyway?
Do I need to backread or was that just kind of arbitrary?
rayguns AND art.
MCR will kill all the horrible K-bands with ART! Because Gerard is the only one who went to Art Skewl!
Oh wait. You don't think that includes The Killers, do you? I really love them and I don't think Brandon Flowers went to Art Skewl. :(
I don't want MCR to kill The Killers!
Americans are stupid. I'm sorry if that upsets you, but it's true.
PEOPLE are stupid. There are stupid Americans, stupid English, stupid French, stupid Japanese, stupid everyone in every country, in every race, in every single creed. There are smart people in every country, race and creed too. You are generalizing, which makes you the ignorant one.
We didn't all vote the same way, in case you hadn't noticed.
Voting is not compulsory in America. It's considered a duty and a privilege.
"Duty" implies "compulsory." It's neither. It is a privilege, however.
Are they illiterate?
It has nothing to do with illiteracy, duh. How are the two even connected? By now I'm pretty sure you're a troll.
It does have to do with general apathy, though. It's like people who are baseball fans when the World Series is on, but don't care the rest of the year. (I'm kind of like that with baseball actually. Not like that with elections.)
Bleating anon is the one going on and on about the election and how the "people have spoken", etc.
You know. The troll from Mayo's?
Yes; and we're all fairly sure we know who she is, too. She doesn't actually quite make a point; she just gets pissed and froths at the mouth a lot, if it's the one I'm thinking.
7:27 put it pretty succinctly and correctly, I thought, BTW.
Can you people not read? I said Paul McCartney loves KOL. He is a washed up old fart who wouldn't know good music if it hit him in the face.
LMFAO considering Paul McCartney wrote such a portion of the world's good music with John Lennon. And again, calling troll here.
If he knew music he would of picked MCR.
LMAO, you're funny.
Yeah, I got lost in this conversation too; there was a lot of tl;dr here for me today.
I'm kind of lost here. How the heck did Paul McCartney get brought up anyway?
Someone is because Paul can't see greatness of the short shorts.
Pissed^
12:34, I've seen the NFL performance and I have to say Gerard sounds awful. That guy cannot sing live to save his life. I can't get over how bad he is. I mean, he's a singer, at least hit the right notes! I used to be a big fan of MCR, but after seeing them live a few times I've lost interest. They're just not good enough to spend your money on. Gerard should concentrate less on sticking his hands down his pants and more on the actual singing part.
I'm also a fan of KOL. You may not like them, but I've seen them live and they are incredible. Caleb is an awesome front man-he can actually carry a tune. They always deliver a great performance.
One last thing I'd like to say is I think Ray is a really talented guitar player. It's a shame his talent is wasted in MCR.
I'm also a fan of KOL. You may not like them, but I've seen them live and they are incredible. Caleb is an awesome front man-he can actually carry a tune. They always deliver a great performance.
I agree. Caleb doesn't run around all over the stage like Gerard and some people might think that's boring. But he does play the guitar and he never, ever hits a bad note. In fact, all the guys in KOL are good singers. They all do back-up and Nathan (the drummer) has some amazing pipes.
Paul McCartney is 68 fucking years old. He's older than my grandfather. How many of you would listen to music your grandfather listens to. Old people can't appreciate new music.
I thought MCR looked way out of their element at that NFL show. Gerard couldn't slap his ass or stick his hand down his pants because the audience wasn't made up of screaming girls. He didn't know what to do with himself.
Gerard was sick at that game. Can't you people cut him a break? I bet even Jared Leto and Caleb of KOL sound like shit Shen they're sick too.
Jared Leto always sounds like shit. Caleb sounds like he swallowed broken glass.
Gerard was sick at that game. Can't you people cut him a break?
Wow, Gerard must have been sick every single time I've seen him live, because he's never been able to sing any better than that.
He's older than my grandfather. How many of you would listen to music your grandfather listens to.
I listen to and quite enjoy music my grandparents and great-grandparents danced to. I love that entire era.
And I love music from before then, too. All sorts of classical, jazz, ragtime, big band, early rock and roll, just about everything.
I feel sorry for you; you're missing out big time.
. Gerard couldn't slap his ass or stick his hand down his pants because the audience wasn't made up of screaming girls
LOL! I wish he would of told the guys, only the guys to take their shirts and twirl them over their heads. That video would be priceless!
a ha
Guys, I hate to be the English major bitch, but it's "would have."
They should change their name to My Ray Gun Romance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Mx2z_DGMws
I'm surprised someone hasn't made a twit ter account called Frank's or Gerard's Raygun.
Guys, I hate to be the English major bitch, but it's "would have."
In Texas they taught us "would of." It is in the text books over here. I swear.^_~
Jared Leto always sounds like shit. Caleb sounds like he swallowed broken glass.
You're perfectly entitled to your opinion, but I respectfully disagree. Jared Leto's voice is very powerful live. He didn't sound breathy or pitchy like Gerard. I've seen him twice and, granted, I've not seen him on a bad night, but both times he blew me away.
As far as Caleb Followill is concerned, his voice is definitely a matter of taste. I happen to love it. He reminds me of someone, but I'm never really quite sure who. Van Morrison maybe? Or maybe some of the blues singers I grew up listening to? All I know is that his voice has this lovely, raw, raspy quality that conveys emotion so beautifully. The first time I heard him sing Milk live, I literally choked up. And as others have said, he seems incapable of hitting a bad note. He's just one of those people who was born with music inside him. He's doing what he was born to do.
But, hey. That's just my opinion.
Gerard would sound better if he didn't smoke so much.
He's just one of those people who was born with music inside him. He's doing what he was born to do.
But has he learned to use it as a weapon? Cuz you know, his enemies are coming after him with ART.
I never heard of Milk. Only that Sex on Fire song and Use Somebody. Is it on the same album?
I'm not really a fan of KOL but I think Sex on Fire is catchy.
Cuz you know, his enemies are coming after him with ART.
lol
LOL Lynn. ;D
MCR could never write a sexy song like SOF.

I like Kasabian. I'm actually listening to them right now. Vlad the Impaler. Love it.
you-ou-ou your sex is on fire
I never heard of Milk. Only that Sex on Fire song and Use Somebody. Is it on the same album?
No. Milk is from Aha Shake Heartbreak, the band's 2nd album. They've done 5 now.
Here is a live performance of it from Lollapalooza. I wish it were a more intimate setting, but there aren't a lot of live recordings of Milk out there. Still, for a festival, it's pretty damn awesome.
KOL is so much more than Sex on Fire. I wish more people knew that. :(
I like Kasabian. I'm actually listening to them right now. Vlad the Impaler. Love it.
I like Kasabian too. They're not my favorites, but I enjoy them.
5:24 KOL is not really my style though I do like Sex.
(on fire). I would never knock anyone who likes their type of music unlike silly MCR fans how are just so rigid.
KOL's singer is a lot cuter without the beard. I liked that song. It was very different.
I have to say you can't beat a bit of MUSE. My favourite - Plug in baby.
I loved Muse up until the last album, but it didn't do it for me. I'm kind of sick of hearing all my friends going on about how they 'sold out' because of the Twilight thing though.
Muse is okay.
I read the article where Paul McCartney talks about KOL and Plan B, but I didn't read anything about Kasabian. Did I miss something?
I never heard of Plan B. Anybody know anything about him (I think it's a him)?
Apparently Tom from Kasabian was interviewing Sir Paul for NME. Seems he's one of Sir Paul's biggest fans and Sir Paul praised Kasabian as well.
Kasabian should do a cover of Jet. Would be a hoot.
Kasabian should do a cover of Jet. Would be a hoot.
I'd buy it. :)
Paul McCartney should cover Use Somebody. Everybody else has.
Those Kings of Leon are skinny and anorexic looking. Must be drugs.
Gerard looks way healthier.
Lol.
Those Kings of Leon are skinny and anorexic looking. Must be drugs.
No they're just getting loads of SEX.
On Fire!
Ngl, that drummer could get it.
One thing I noticed about the video from the NFL game: MCR seems to be using a backing track for the Na na na part of Na Na Na. Has that been the case for all their 'live' shows so far?
Backing track, dance music, a singer who can't sing. They might as well just have Gerard lip-sync and get a choreographer and he can be the new Britney Spears.
I think he'd rather be Rihanna. They have the same hair now. He's already covered her once. I bet he'll do it again this tour.
He's back writing seekret messages to zoid on his neck so I'd wager he'll do a Rhianna.
http://www.myspace.com/mychemicalromance
New song Sing and trailer. I don't like the song.
he never wrote miss you on his neck. that was a rumor started by fangirls confusing that last tour in the uk with this one.
funny thing is i think the roid thought he did because of all of the girls squealing to her about it on twitter.
guess someone doesnt care to actually watch her husband when hes not around.
aka. when it doesnt benefit her.
I dig the Nine Inch Nails influence to the new single. You can especially hear it in the beginning.
@Kaepunua i'm only mentioning this becuase someone on here called you Kapu, have you ever read a book series called Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George?
I dig the Nine Inch Nails influence to the new single. You can especially hear it in the beginning.
You know what bugs me about MCR? The fact that with nearly every song, you can say, "Oh I hear so-and-so's influence here. This is their Misfits song. This is their tribute to Queen. This was obviously inspired by (insert famous band here)."
Influences are one thing. Adopting another band's style instead of creating your own is another. MCR should have just been a cover band.
