Now I'm gonna make you dance
It's your chance
Yeah boy shake that ass
Oops I mean girl girl girl girl
Girl you know you're my world

Oops, sorry, did I go too far that time? LOL just kidding. I thought you people all might want to read something funny instead of the usual posts about hypocrisy and fake feminism.

Happy Halloween everyone.

For the troll @6:15 a.m.

From this interview back in 2006:

RS: How much fun did you have getting onstage with the Kings of Leon?

EV: It's a great record, and the song "Slow Night, So Long" -- I had disappeared onto some little island to write and surf and the only record I had besides the Pearl Jam stuff I was working on was that [Aha Shake Heartbreak]. I played it for some of the locals, who didn't know anything outside of their local traditional music, and they had such strong positive reactions to the record. It was a clean slate to bounce it off of. I was excited, and when they opened up for U2, I hadn't met them, but I wanted to tell them that story -- that their record transmits really well to unbiased ears. We started hanging out, and the second night we bashed some tambourines and it felt exciting.

RS: Are they the cream of the crop as far as younger bands?

EV: They certainly hit a reflex in me, and the new Strokes record is just a great piece of work. The sounds, and his vocal delivery is really great. Both those guys...

RS: Caleb and Julian.

EV: Yea, Caleb's vocal delivery is so unique and his phrasing; it's like what they used to say about Sinatra -- his phrasing is what really made it. I'm not into Sinatra, but I get that. George Jones is another thing, and even McCartney and Lennon. You listen to these songs, but it's unconscious the way they phrase things. Joey Ramone as well.

Not that I'm trying to convince anyone here to like KOL. They're doing quite well on their own.

Is it me or does this little rant about people being famous without working for it sound a bit like Frances' going off on Ali Lohan?

Anonymous said...

Gerard and the others have made several comments in the past that seem like jabs at Frances. I get the feeling the guys aside from Mikey just tolerate her, because they can't exactly tell Kurt Cobain's kid to piss off.

Anonymous said...

"Rock 'n' roll is not red carpets and MySpace friends -- rock 'n' roll is dangerous and rock 'n' roll should piss people off. Right now, there's not a lot of that happening. What it is is a lot of people trying to be famous. That seems to be the goal."

Like Gerard and Co. weren't thrilled when they got the chance to be on the red carpet at the VMA awards back in 05, chatting up Diddy and his buddies. LMFAO.

Anonymous said...

Oooh, Gerard. You're sooo dangerous.

Not.

Anonymous said...

The only thing dangerous about MCR is that if you wear one of their t-shirts out in public you might get the shit kicked out of you.

Kapunua said...

Seriously? Copying the band you married into, making your female audience simulate orgasms for you, spending all your time twittering to Frances Famous For Nothing Cobain and Courtney Professional Widow Love, moving to LA, buying muscle cars, and naming your kid some douchebaggy Hollywood name and "it's not about MySpace and red carpets"??

Wow, his head is up his OWN ass.

Anonymous said...

What it is is a lot of people trying to be famous. That seems to be the goal."

You're right Gerard. That's exactly what your pals MSI were doing.

Anonymous said...

But he would never admit that, it's one rule for him, another rule for others.

Anonymous said...

"Educate yourself and listen to some real music and I'm not talking about much hyped bands like KOL.Actually, I find it ridiculous that people mention this band here all the time when they need something to compare MCR to in order to demonstrate their complete failure. They sound just like MCR fan girls"

LOL! Thank you, now I finally know that I'm not the only one here that feels this way too. I've gotten attacked here before when I've merely mentioned I don't like them. I didn't even say anything bad about them, just that I didn't like them.

It only adds the comparison of the two fandoms. And seriously, good music or not, can you guys think of NO better band to compare MCR against? Of all the amazing bands that have been out there?

I don't agree with the anon that thinks MCR are better, obviously, I do come to this blog. I just seriously think there are greater bands to constantly talk about.

P.S. And don't tell me its just about the music, most of what you guys post here about KOL is about how they're so HOT, and MCR isn't. If that's not fangirling I don't know what is. The one thing I disagree with here is talking about MCR's bad looks as if that adds to their bad music or behavior. That's not what music is about people, and it's a really shallow way to assess a band.

Anonymous said...

So Gerard is now adding the ol' Jimmy Urine touch to his interviews.

Anonymous said...

Gerard and the others have made several comments in the past that seem like jabs at Frances. I get the feeling the guys aside from Mikey just tolerate her, because they can't exactly tell Kurt Cobain's kid to piss off.

I think it's just him being a hypocrite again. Trying to use Frances for fame didn't work, so now he's gone the opposite direction.

And if Rock n' roll is dangerous, that just further proves that what they make is not rock n' roll.

Anonymous said...

9:28, KOL are not my style of music either, I have expressed that, and have never been attacked here for it.

Anonymous said...

And if Rock n' roll is dangerous, that just further proves that what they make is not rock n' roll.

Couldn't agree with you more. MCR's "dangerous" is equivalent to a soggy sandwich.

Anonymous said...

There is nothing worst than someone who continually lies through their teeth to make out they are genuine unpretentious, people.

Anonymous said...

I've gotten attacked here before when I've merely mentioned I don't like them. I didn't even say anything bad about them, just that I didn't like them.

I have never seen an instance of someone being attacked over not liking any band here (KOL and MCR included) except when MCR fans come here to tell us how stupid we are.

People talk about a lot of bands here. I don't really see that KOL is mentioned more than any other.

Anonymous said...

P.S. And don't tell me its just about the music, most of what you guys post here about KOL is about how they're so HOT, and MCR isn't.

I don't see that happening here, either. Sure you're not talking about a different blog?

People do mention that the members are good-looking occasionally when they get brought up, but that's going to happen when a band has good looking members. It's a very rare occasion when 30STM gets brought up and someone doesn't point out how good-looking Jared Leto is, but it's not like people here are going, "ZOMG, JARED LETO AND CALEB FOLLOWILL ARE SO HAWT!!!" constantly. Mostly they talk about the two bands' music.

There is nothing wrong with thinking and expressing that someone is good-looking as long as that's not the sole purpose for liking them.

Anonymous said...

LOL! Thank you, now I finally know that I'm not the only one here that feels this way too. I've gotten attacked here before when I've merely mentioned I don't like them. I didn't even say anything bad about them, just that I didn't like them.

Why don't you direct us to the post where this occurred. I've been here for a long time and I've never seen it, unless you are referring to the occasional Gerard Way fangirl that comes here to defend her idol to the death.

Anonymous said...

I used to think Gerard Way was attractive until he opened his big fat mouth.

Anonymous said...

It's a very rare occasion when 30STM gets brought up and someone doesn't point out how good-looking Jared Leto is

I don't like 30stm either. I think their music is very bland and contrived and that they wouldn't even have a recording contract or be known at all if not for Jared Leto.

I don't like when people compare MCR unfavorably to them because you know they're just doing it on the basis of looks.

Anonymous said...

And seriously, good music or not, can you guys think of NO better band to compare MCR against? Of all the amazing bands that have been out there?

Are you saying that there are degrees of good music and that certain bands don't measure up? Based on what?

Musical tastes are subjective you know.

Besides, I see a lot more comparison made here to Green Day than anybody else. I think Green Day is overhyped and overrated but I recognize that a lot of people love them and I'm not going to criticize them for it.

I don't think anybody here gets the deciding vote on what's good music and what isn't.

Anonymous said...

I don't like KOL, 30STM or Green Day.

I say we make some Guidelines that say we aren't allowed to talk about them here.

^_~

Anonymous said...

As far as I'm concerned anyone can talk about any band they like here, whether I like them or not.

Anonymous said...

Actually I think KOL are pretty boys and what makes them even prettier is the brain in their head, unlike a certain egotisical rawkstah we all know...

Anonymous said...

I actually don't know anything about KOL beyond On Call, Sex on Fire and Use Somebody. Not sure if it's really my type of music, but I like Caleb's voice.

Anonymous said...

Kol are not my usual music style but I like reading about new bands and people's perspectives on them.

Anonymous said...

I recall an anon talking about Brand New. They're good.

Anonymous said...

Brand New is an amazing band. They're so underrated. They would probably be a lot bigger, but their frontman goes out of his way to avoid press. He doesn't even like to have his picture taken.

I've been listening to them for 5 or 6 years now and I never, ever get tired of them.

Anonymous said...

I find their lyrical content incredible. The structure of the songs, just the way the words fit together. Intelligent writing.

Anonymous said...

Jesse Lacey was one of the revolving members of Taking Back Sunday way, way back. He played bass and did backing vocals on the original EP.

Anonymous said...

I find their lyrical content incredible. The structure of the songs, just the way the words fit together. Intelligent writing.

I agree. The lyrics really are incredible. I can honestly say that I love every song on all four of their albums.

When people ask me which one is my favorite, my answer is usually whichever one I happen to be listening to at the time. They're all that good.

Anonymous said...

I don't think you could find two bands more dissimilar than Brand New and Kings of Leon. They have very different styles both musically, lyrically and in the way they present themselves to the public. But I love them both. I honestly could not choose between.

Anonymous said...

And both bands seem to be able to evoke a mood so eloquently through their music.

Anonymous said...

And both bands seem to be able to evoke a mood so eloquently through their music.

They do. I think that's why they both stir up so much passion in their fans.

Also, (got to make the inevitable comparison here) they don't have to go around telling people how great they are.

Anonymous said...

I don't mind passion, I think it's a good thing, providing you don't trample over other people.

Anonymous said...

I don't mind passion, I think it's a good thing, providing you don't trample over other people.

Agreed. When that passion turns to, "OMG, my fav band is the best band eva! If you don't like them u r crazy!"

People are going to have differing opinions, especially on music and art. Nobody's opinion is "right" and nobody's is "wrong."

Anonymous said...

The same goes for "Eww, how can u lyk that band, they suck!!!"

Kapunua said...

Jesse Lacey is actually one of our homeboys, like Eddie Reyes. :D

Hey, I'm a HUGE fan of 30STM and while they might not have gotten a deal without Leto (because let's face it, if it's not luck, it's who you know, and record deals often have nothing to do with talent,) the fact remains that I think they are an awesome band, both on record and live.

Leto might be very pretty, but he's got an incredible set of lungs. Looks fade, but talent does not.

Aside from the music, I honestly like the direction they're going socially, such as with their massive fight for the environment. I appreciate bands that try to make a positive difference. No band has to, and I'll probably still love a band if they stand for nothing (Taking Back Sunday is another of my favorites and all they really do is play fantastic music,) but if a band gets on board with something I believe it, I have to applaud that. ^_^

Anonymous said...

Leto might be very pretty, but he's got an incredible set of lungs. Looks fade, but talent does not.

Exactly. The same thing goes for Caleb Followill. His voice may be very unusual, but there is such a thing as perfect pitch and the guy has it. I've never heard him hit a bad note.

And there's nothing wrong with being pretty, anyway. There's no rule that says musicians who are are unpleasant to look at are any more talented than the ones who are easy on the eyes.

Anonymous said...

So, I got bored and started sniffing around on the internet.

Interesting:

In 1999 they recorded "Tight" the official debut album and were going to release it through Roadrunner, but were dropped from the label when one of the higher ups heard "Panty Shot".

So we aren't the only ones who 'can't take jokes', eh?

Urine is bi and the rest of the group is straight, I think but who knows. He married Chantal Claret and with a bit of searching on youtube you can find her blog and the two of them are just charming together. Look up "Talkoffyourclothes".

WHUUUUUUUUUUUUUT????????

Lyn-Z married Gerard Way in September and Way, along with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Jhonen Vasquez (who did the If limited edition art work and directed their video) are also fans. In the linear notes of If, Urine refers to Way as his best friend.

Did anyone of you know that?

i love how he forgets what Rock and Punk stated out as...

The Ramones who I've always considered the fathers of punk actually where more inspired by music of the Beach Boys (who i call the uncles of Punk Rock) and Hell the Beatles inspired everyone..

The Sex Pistols and the uncotrollable antics of some bands like The Rolling Stones are what gave Rock the Drugs'n'Sex thing not to mention the 70's were also repsonsible.

Elvis Presley just made music he enjoyed. Parents hated it which made the kids of the 50s love it even more becuase every generation rebels against their parents in some way.. My Dad told me that, he was a teen when Elvis became big (born in the 40s)

You can even find rebellion in the 1920s with Jazz which is what all rock is descended from in one form or another. You know the flapper dresses, booze...

He needs a history lesson in music

Kapunua said...

he fails to understand that rock is NOT about "pissing people off." It's about making music. If you're going out of your way just to piss people off then you're not being "rock and roll" you're just being a douche. But this guy is so totally insincere in everything he does and has so much to prove that it must get confusing for him to keep everything straight.

He just fails.

Anonymous said...

If you ask most any truly respected musician out there where rock began, I think every one of them would say the Blues.

Rock is about expression. It's about freedom. I don't think it has ever truly been about danger or pissing people off. If some people did get pissed off inadvertently that was their problem.

Perhaps some punk and shock rockers (MSI anyone?) do set out to intentionally piss people off, but that's never been Rock's true purpose or intention.

Anonymous said...

If you ask most any truly respected musician out there where rock began, I think every one of them would say the Blues.

Blues, country and gospel. It was not originally supposed to "piss people off", it's just that as it evolved, people felt threatened because it sounded like "black music" and it made young people want to dance.

Later in the sixties, thanks to the influence of Bob Dylan "going electric" it picked up elements of folk and became about social change.

Rock n Roll is a continually evolving art form that doesn't have to follow any pattern or have any set purpose. Gerard Way of all people should know that since he has stolen from basically every genre he's ever listened to.

He's a buffoon and his latest statements only reinforce that.

Anonymous said...

most artists steal from what they listen to. gerard just sucks at subtlety and copies everything exactly, instead of doing what most good artists do and transforming it into something new and their own.

Anonymous said...

But that's the difference between stealing and being influenced by something.

And on rock 'n' roll being dangerous... What's he going to do, start attacking people at shows? lol

Anonymous said...

he'll show up shirtless to a show. that's a biohazard right there.

Kapunua said...

To me, being "dangerous" and edgy is attacking the status quo and questioning things that you think are wrong. It's speaking your mind even when you know that you're going up against the bigger guy. You know, revolutionary or not, it's challenging things according to your belief.

That really does bother people in power because they aim to keep that power.

Rock and roll, yeah there's a huge part of it that is about shaking up the system.

But Gerard has nothing to rebel against in the first place. How can you be "dangerous" and "edgy" when you're not really standing for or against anything? You're just bellowing into the wind.

And to piss people off just because makes you nothing more than a gasbag. Yes, he's pissing people off. He's pissing off feminists and people who are into human rights.

How is that "dangerous?" The only thing that makes them is a lousy Motley Crue ripoff.

Anonymous said...

Isn't that what rebellious teenagers do? Piss people off to show no one controls them? I thought he would have grown out of this stage by now.

Anonymous said...

That's exactly what rebellious teenagers do and anyone over a certain age is going to see it as ridiculous.

Plus, the fact that the band isn't doing anything to shed their pretty boy images by still wearing eyeliner and having Twilight-esque photoshoots is going to make them look like "posers" to everyone but the teenage girls.

Anonymous said...

Okay, well, I take part of that back. I suppose he'll keep those middle age moms who fantasize about him instead of Edward Cullen. At least until somebody else comes along.

Rage Against the Machine was edgy.

MCR/MSI (I think of them as the same band these days), not so much.

Anonymous said...

MCR and MSI are stuck in adolescence.

Anonymous said...

I get the feeling that poor Bandit will feel like she's the parent and her "parents" are the children when she gets older.

I predict she'll change her name and go into a field totally unrelated to either music or art.

Anonymous said...

Seems Metal Hammer isn't buying into Gerard's b.s. about being dangerous either.

I love the tone of this article and the comments are priceless. But then, not too many 14 year old girls are reading Metal Hammer.

Anonymous said...

A lot of bands do rely heavily on MySpazz to promote/share their music and that's really where MCR themselves started to gain popularity back in '02, so it's kind of unfair, hypocritical and tactless to dismiss the influence of the internet with such trite, throwaway comments. It seems they have forgotten their roots and where they came from.

It shows AGAIN that Gerard feels the urge to shit on previous accomplishments. I think that would look good on his tombstone. Here lies Gerard Way. He used to shit on his previous accomplishments.
I'm wondering if he will give Bandit the same treatment if he will ever have a second child with his wifey or the next amaaaaazing person. Well, Bandit wasn't all that, but my new kid is just going to be amaaaaaazing Not that he didn't already do that with his (alleged) girlfriends.

But seriously, it shows that this guy has major issues with himself. He seems to always be so embarrassed about his past that he has to make such statements in which he mocks previous decisions and actions and in the same sentence feels the need to ensure that the next project is going to be much better as everything else before.

Anonymous said...

Priceless! It even proves what people have thought here for so long. They really must have had huge problems with each other which could be witnessed when they almost beat the shit out of each other on stage.

Sadly, I can really see him doing that. I can see him giving some huge interview about how he wasn't really ready to be a father and how Bandit was an accident but that now (sometime in the future) he totally has his shit together and is with the woman of his dreams (because that Lindsey woman was just a way to pass the time until he found his real soulmate) and how this new kid totally kicks ass. Then he can go on about how him and the Mrs. decided to name her something completely normal and ordinary because he thinks it's just so stupid when celebrities give their children ridiculous names...

Although I don't agree with bottling, I have to say that MCR should have known better than to play Download, which is traditionally a heavy metal festival.

Mama and Cancer are so not metal. They kind of had it coming.

That interview that Gerard did about his story where he was way too big of a dude to care about piddly things like "plot" and such just screamed Stephanie Meyers.

He in particular really reminds me of that kind of haughty mediocrity.

Didn't it? And then he has the nerve to go and criticize other bands for their "work ethic" and for not having had a rough enough time of it when TUA was essentially handed to him and he thought he was too good to worry about continuity or character development.

Just when you think the dude couldn't be any more full of shit...he goes and proves that, yes, there's still room for more.

Anonymous said...

I think Gerard's capacity for being full of b.s. is limitless.

Kapunua said...

Agreed on all counts.

It really burned me when he said tha the essentially didn't need to worry about, you know, writing and such. Not everyone is lucky enough to have fallen into a band with Ray Toro during the height of Autotune use as emo was gaining ground, and subsequently get handed a book deal.

Some of us have to, I dunno, think and such.

Anonymous said...

I hope I did this link thing right.

It's pretty much exactly what Gerard said before, but apparently the "new album is a scathing attack on reality TV music shows like American idol and the UK’s X Factor" which I wasn't aware of before.

I'm not much a fan of the shows because a lot of the contestants seem pretty similar in terms of voice and style, but here's a performance Ian Moss and Australian Idol of 2008, Wes Carr did at the finale this year. I'd hardly say Wes has "zero talent."

Anonymous said...

I don't know why that idiot is always talking about working class people, who are starting a band vs. people who get things handed to them although they have no talent. This might be true about people like Paris Hilton but when it comes to American Idol and similar shows the contestants participating might belong to the working class either.
And someone should remind him that his wonderful wifey only made it in the band not because she was a talented bass player but because she almost grilled the band members during the audition.

Anonymous said...

He seems to have a set of standards for himself, that are different to the set of standards he expects others to follow. Case in question, the stupid wife.

Anonymous said...

Aw, sounds like somebody has his panties in a twist because somebody like Adam Lambert can steal his over the top flamboyant eyeliner gay-boy shtick and do it better than he can.

Kapunua said...

That posting junk can suck it. This is what I tried to post there:

This douche cannot grow up and stop taking shots at his ex-stalker / fiancee. Well known fact that Eliza Seip, the former almost Mrs. Gerard Way, is a contestant on American Idol.

Gerard is an emotional twelve year old and the Stephanie Meyers of music. He will never grow the hell up and will have his hand down his pants all his life; literally and metaphorically.

No, before anyone accuses: I am not a fan or friend of that crap-head he used to tool around with. I am however a severely disappointed ex fan who used to think the music was pretty good, but once this guy opens his mouth he makes it impossible for me to enjoy anything else he's done.

And, Autotune.

Kapunua said...

Because think about it: hating on American Idol, and Eliza being on it. Coincidence, no/no?

Your post worked, Kapunua. For some reason it always times out when you try to post on Kerrang's website. That's why so many people make double posts.

Anonymous said...

Kapunua that's the first thing I thought of when I saw that interview. He's obviously taking a shot at Eliza. No I don't like her but I don't hate her either. Good god Gerard grow up!!

Kapunua said...

Thanks, anon. Some days are better than others. The last few days have sucked for some reason and the holidays are going to be tough. Almost wish I didn't have a semester break. :)

But, there is a lot to focus on. ^_^

Anonymous said...

That's good to hear K. Just treat the holidays as any other day. I know there'll be tears but remember not all of them will be tears of sadness. One day you'll both laugh out loud remembering all the silly things you used to do with your lovely dad.

Take care.

Anonymous said...

K, I didn't mean that's good to hear that the last few days have sucked, what I meant was it's good to hear that some days are better than others, because I know to begin with every day is bad.
Hope I didn't cause any offense.

Anonymous said...

What the hell. I commented too:

Who's he trying to kid?

Wow, hypocrisy much? This from a man who got his no-talent wife's no-talent band plastered all over this magazine for the better part of a year just because he married her? LynZWay has about as much musical talent as my cat does. Seriously, I prefer the sound my cat makes when I accidentally step on her tail to the crap MSI tries to pass off as music.

I also gotta agree with all the people who say Gerard can't sing anymore (if he ever could). The last time I saw MCR live he couldn't get out an entire phrase without pointing the mic at the audience for them to sing. His lungs and his voice are shot. He'd never make it on X-Factor or AI.

From the latest Rock Sound interview.

RS: Have you thought about how My Chemical Romance will reintroduce themselves to music fans in 2010? Do you ever wonder if your band is still needed in music?

Says Gerard Way (vocals):
"It's funny because the musical landscape is ever changing, but I think there's always a place for us and I think we're absolutely needed, especially now. I don't say that with any arrogance, I just really believe in my band and I believe that our band does what it does better than anybody else. There's no one that can do this like us. I feel a gap when we are gone and I hope people do too, if they don't then we're not doing our job properly.

He still thinks MCR is the Best Band in the World. :/

Anonymous said...

"I don't say that with any arrogance..."

Right. The only way to not come off arrogant is to not say it at all, Gerard. Let somebody else toot your damn horn besides you.

Anonymous said...

You do know whatever he says in interviews are just pure bullshit?

Anonymous said...

This maybe off topic, or maybe not. I can't help but think of the parallels between the Tiger Woods fiasco and G Way. Both of them creating an illusion of propriety to further their careers when the image is so further from the truth.

Anonymous said...

8:23, none of us live in their homes, Woods' or Way's. To speculate like that, that they both married and the like, to 'create an illusion of propriety' is just ridiculous. We've no idea what goes on behind closed doors. What if their wives agreed to partake in the facade. What if Woods' accident was a very poorly planned publicity stunt -that merely backfired on him. You just have no idea. To imply that you or any of us, do, is just silly.

Anonymous said...

I can understand what 8:23 was trying to get across, however as 8:33 indicated we don't really know what happens behind closed doors or how these people really are.

Their public image is certainly taking a hiding though.

Anonymous said...

Three women have come out to claim a relationship with T. Woods. That's one hell of a publicity stunt.

Anonymous said...

I don't think 8:23 was referring to GW's marriage.

Anonymous said...

Why would you need to orchestrate a publicity stunt when you have the public profile of Tiger Woods? I'm not buying that.

Anonymous said...

About Tiger W. All of this can be doing two things; getting people talking about him and wanting to see him or giving the media something to focus on and selling more news.

Anonymous said...

Yea 8:33. Usually, where there is smoke, there's fire.

Anonymous said...

It just seems that all the "good ones" actually turn out to be the worst ones.

8:23 said...

8:33, I have not implied anything. Have you been reading the headlines? Clearly what he has been saying up until recently, and to quote Mr Wood's himself “I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all my heart,I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves.” show in my opinion, a carefully cultivated image for his own benefit. Any woman that would go along with the facade would not be threatening him with a golf club. As for G Way, he was giving me the same impression with what he said in the past about what he stood for, as opposed to the way he actually behaves.

Anonymous said...

Sorry for changing the topic again, but did anyone else watch World Idol when it was on years ago?

Kurt Nilsen was pretty damn amazing.

Anonymous said...

I hope Tiger Wood's wife gets to woop his ass.

About the RS interview. Did anyone else notice this?

How are you adapting to fatherhood?
"It's great, it's amazing. Obviously we just wanted a healthy baby, but I was excited to have a girl as there are things I can see myself helping a girl with that I could never do with a guy, things like picking out clothes and stealing eyeliner, all that sort of stuff!"

The dude's gay.

Anonymous said...

Kurt Nilsen was pretty damn amazing.

He probably sings better than Gerard Way too.

10:28, I love that the MCR fandom started having a full on discussion about gender roles because of what Gerard said. But hey, I do partially agree with them.

10:30, he was. He sang U2's Beautiful Day and it was definitely my favourite performance out of all the Idols there.

11:44 said...

Whoops, that should have been "he does."

Anonymous said...

Somehow I don't think so. From what I know of teenagers, especially girls, they do not want to be seen around their dads, especially if they had to pick out clothes for them and steal eyeliner from them. If anything she'll be embarrassed even though he's a "rockstar". I recall an interview from The Edge and Bono of U2 saying their children find their music "old fashioned" and that they should do something "more modern". Bono also said his kids rolled their eyes at him when he mentioned his "rockstar" friends and talked about saving the world. I don't think it will be any different for Gerard & Lynz Way.

Anonymous said...

Can you see GW with eyeliner when he's nearing 50? LOL!

Anonymous said...

Droopy eyelids, dark circles, heaps of wrinkles a prominent bald patch and lots of eyeliner and makeup. LMAO.

Anonymous said...

So, while Gerard is busy stealing Bandit's eyeliner, what's the amazing wife doing? That's right, she'll be arm wrestling her daughter. Way family values.

True. No other band can be jackasses like this one, they are one in a million.

Anonymous said...

It was less about the theatricality and more about how we become the greatest young American rock band musically.

Where does he get that MCR are a young band? They aren't. The guy sure talks shit.

Anonymous said...

Some of those comments on that Kerrang link are priceless.

Anonymous said...

Gerard bitches about everything and everyone now. =/ First he attacks the "myspace bands", and now reality tv shows that have nothing to do with him. WTF.

Anonymous said...

What Gerard doesn't understand about Bandit being a girl is that when girls hit puberty they usually start to avoid their fathers like the plague. If he's trying to give her fashion tips and wearing eyeliner she's going to go the opposite direction. I'm sure he thinks he'll be the exception: the "cool" parent, but his daughter who is 32 years younger than him is only going to see a pathetic old guy trying to act like a kid.

Kids work very hard to establish a separate identity from their parents. Just as Frances doesn't think Courtney Love is "cool" and doesn't want to follow her into music (or whatever the hell it is she does) neither will Bandit be appreciative of Gerard's fashion tips.

Anonymous said...

I thought this was a blog about scumbag rawkstah's not scumbag golfers.

Perhaps you'd like to impose some Guidelines for what we can and can't talk about here?

I totally got what 10:23 was saying. Both Gerard and Tiger became fan favorites because of the image they presented to the public: Tiger Woods was "squeaky clean" and Gerard Way "cares about fans" and "doesn't do groupies."

While Tiger Woods' talent far surpasses Geetard's he still got a lot of endorsements and made more money because of his image. Now that's going to change. I can definitely see parallels.

So, while Gerard is busy stealing Bandit's eyeliner, what's the amazing wife doing? That's right, she'll be arm wrestling her daughter. Way family values.

I can visualize what Bandit will write in her journal when she's 15 now:

Dear Diary,

Dad's been at it again, trying to make me wear eyeliner. My God, it's bad enough that they had to saddle me with being named after a raccoon, but now he wants me to look like one too?

And I swear to God, if mom challenges me to another arm wrestling match I'm going to go live with Gramma Way.

FUCK MY LIFE!

Anonymous said...

Have you ever watched the very 1st Indiana Jones movie? There's a bit were the love interest is arm wrestling patrons in her bar. It just brings to mind this image.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't be surprised if gangy Way let's her watch movies like 'Hostel' or 'Saw' at the age of five. I can already think of her hiding cough syrup under her bed so that she can sedate herself enough to be able to sleep. Her father can then tell her about how he was just like her as a kid. Good times.

She's actually drinking with one of those people and finally wins the game. But I could see Susan doing that as well in a few years. Drinking her parents under the table that is.

So, considering that Morningwood's new record tanked, does this mean that JU & Co. are going to have to go back out there and start recording/touring again? Has anybody heard anything?

Anonymous said...

Judging from a lot of the comments on that Kerrang article, it would seem that at least some of the rest of the world is finally catching on to the fact that Gerard can't sing live.

Loved the comment about the Duck with emphysema. LMFAO.

Anonymous said...

all you lot stay off kerrang and stop slagging gerard off. it's one thing spew your hatred and vitriol here but stop polluting the rest of the internet with it. you can't hurt mcr no matter how hard you try.

Kapunua said...

Well really, you can't hurt anyone who has his head that far up his own ass because he won't even hear you. So, you don't have anything to worry about!

Re: Gender roles, you know, I don't have a problem with that. If Gerard wants to wear eyeliner and even if Lindsey was some kind of macho arm-wrestler, more power to them.

I take absolutely no issue with what they want to do with those conventions. Women do not have to be feminine. Men do not have to be masculine.

However, neither of them respects women or even sees women as human beings and that is where I have the biggest issue.

Anonymous said...

Who the fuck do you think you are? You can't stop anyone voicing their opinions. You should stop polluting the internet with your love of MCR.

Anonymous said...

Another comment from Kerrang

No matter what happens, every band is going to have 'haters'. I like MCR, I'm airing my opinion, like many of you are airing yours.
No matter how much you hate MCR, or Gerard Way, he's got a good point. Talent shows (most of the time) don't produce talent, and fair enough, they let people live their dreams. But really, would you buy a talentless, piece-of- shit album? Really? People are only in it for the money and fame now, since that's what's supposed to make your life 'perfect'. Music's supposed to be what you want to write about, not about how big the pay-cheque's going to be at the end of it...

If MCR weren't in it for "the money" why did they sign up with a big label whose purpose is to sell music. Everything is about money. He knows that too.

Anonymous said...

all you lot stay off kerrang and stop slagging gerard off. it's one thing spew your hatred and vitriol here but stop polluting the rest of the internet with it. you can't hurt mcr no matter how hard you try.

That sums up the mentality of 80% of MCR fans. GW is secretly absolutley gutted.

Anonymous said...

And his best bud Jimmy Urine knows that too. Only he is (surprise) honest about it unlike GW.

Anonymous said...

*absolutely

Anonymous said...

Some (not all) MCR fans are so stupid. You can't hurt them with opinions, you can only hurt them in the hip pocket.

Anonymous said...

1.43, I agree, Jimmy Piss has been honest that money is all that matters. I don't like the guy, but I can respect honesty. There are some band whose morals I don't agree with, but because they are upfront about it, I can accept it, and I appreciate the music for what it is. (not MSI for the fact that their music is shit). But when a band basically lies to you about who they are and what they are about, well that actually hurts. And that is the pigeon hole I put MCR in.

Anonymous said...

*bands

Anonymous said...

All this bullshit that GW is churning now about "myspace bands" and "making music" is just an an evolution of the "we save lives mantra". Then, he appeared as the dude with a conscience, against sexual discrimination, rights for gays and women blah, blah. Flash forward to MCR 2010, he's now the dude with a conscience, not in music for "the money" just to make music for the fans (sure) against any pretension or falseness in the industry, blah blah. The messiah can't let his minions down.

Anonymous said...

Since music isn't about "myspace friends" maybe Gerard should clue his little brother in about how it isn't about Twitter either.

Anonymous said...

He might want to tell the wifey it's not about sucking up to "rock royalty" either.

Anonymous said...

2:06,

No kidding. If all he's saying is proof that he's mentally unhinged, I would think that'd be it.

He's fucked in the head in more ways than one.

I don't know why anybody would want to go to Mayo's. The people there are some of the most boring people I've ever run across on the internet. They are petty and small minded and sad.

So, instead of coming here and telling people to stay away from Mayo's, why don't you stay away from here?

Anonymous said...

Why are you so jealous because SS spoke to OPJ, Kapunua?

You know he has special feelings for her. It's nothing new. You just can't accept it can you?

LOL! It never really occurred to me before now, but maybe Mayo really is in prison. Maybe he doesn't come around much anymore because he's in a work release program now.

Maybe Mayo and SS are Gerard's Uncle Guido and Frank's Uncle Paulie and they're serving time for the work they did in the "Refrigeration Business" (snigger).

Please stop instigating with OPJ. DOn't think that just because you can't be in the same room with someone doesn't mean they can't feel for you, feel deeply. You can have a "real relationship" without meeting in person.

But remember they DID meet in person.

Anonymous said...

frankly, I'm not sure I'm comfortable coming here knowing that they frequently lurk here.

I know how you feel. I've been coming here since the beginning, but whenever that 'other place' gets brought up it always gives me a creepy, uneasy feeling. I don't like the fact that the two blogs seem to be connected somehow.

I think the people over there play dangerous games and they don't care who they hurt. The scary thing is, you never know how much of it is real and how much of it is roleplaying.

I choose to stay away from there but for some reason 'there' is always being brought here.
