So Gerard and Lindsey have a child and in true Hollywood style they named their new accessory "Bandit".
There's some psychology of feeling like a child is a pet, or just wanting to fit in with the "cool" crowd behind this but I'm not up to figuring it out.
What do you guys think?

No, not really. I know lots of people who aren't fucking stupid assholes. Yes, everyone is capable of acting like an asshole sometimes. However, when someone acts like an asshole or an idiot in the public eye -- especially in a forum that is job-related and is supposed to be public relations oriented (which the MCR website and twitters are) -- it's stupid and unprofessional.
The fact that you think it's perfectly okay for so-called "professionals" to behave the way MCR does on their website tells me that you're the one putting them on a pedestal because apparently you think they should be exempt from criticism.

Gerard used to be addicted to Xanax. Doctors don't like prescribing it because it's so easy to become addicted, both physically and psychologically, and 3mg of it is a ridiculously strong dosage for somebody who isn't taking it on a regular basis.

I don't think xanax can be compared to oxycontin, but it is addictive and hard to kick. I had a family member who was addicted to it and it took months to get over over the withdrawal symptoms.
I think I asked that here before, but what exactly is Xanax for? Isn't it a pill to avoid symptoms of depression and anxiety?

Xanax is used to treat anxiety disorders, usually panic attacks. It does act as a tranquilizer so it does make you sleepy. I've known people who use it to shut their minds off so they can sleep.
The problem with that is after a while you can't sleep without it.
Well, why not take a sleeping pill in the first place?
Of course, you can get addicted to those as well, but at least they serve the purpose of making people able to sleep more than a psychotropic drug.

Thank you for putting your point across without jumping down my throat. I know a lot of people here don't care much for MCR and I was expecting a hostile response, so thanks for proving me wrong. I can see how some fans take things too literally or at face value and it's easy for tone to be lost in translation. eg. when frank asked 'is this really an issue?' I read it as a genuine concern and disbelief from his end that people were engaging in internet bullying, whereas others obviously read it as 'yawn..is this REALLY an issue? You're all so lame...' Once he found out some crazy fans were actually sending hate tweets he immediately asked people to stop. I don't think he is aware of how batshit insane most of these people are. As much as I am against censorship, I think he would probably be wise to be less impulsive and give more consideration to future tweets.

Today, I flipped through a book about manic depression (bipolar disorder) and read about the signs of a manic phase and immediately thought of Gerard.
I wouldn't be surprised if he got engaged to her and wanted to live with her when he was in one of those manic phases. Maybe, others didn't approve of Eliza and somehow could convince him to get rid of her. But since he was still in his manic phase, he quickly needed someone to replace her and choose Lindsey. I think the people around him, who actually still give a crap about him and what he does approved of her far more and let him have his way finally.

All during Projekt Revolution I thought Gerard displayed textbook symptoms of a person in an extreme manic phase. I was married to a man who had extreme bipolar disorder, bad enough that he had to be hospitalized in a psychiatric institution twice during manic phases. Unless you've seen it first hand you don't have any idea just how bad and dangerous those phases can be - especially when alcohol and drugs like cocaine get thrown into the mix.
My husband loved his manic phases and would refuse to take any meds that would bring him down. He would do ridiculously extravagant things like buying cars, having affairs, charging up his credit cards and taking illegal drugs during those periods. It got so bad that he eventually destroyed everything: his career, his credit, our marriage and his relationships with friends and family.
Gerard reminds me so much of him it's scary.

I noticed that too. The body language between all of them speaks volumes. I don't see much of future for them together.
I admit that Gerard's speeches on how falling in love with Lindsey "changed" him sounds a lot like the things Kurt said in that video, especially the part about having a child. I don't think he wanted a child any more than Gerard did. It just "happened" and he was left having to deal with it. It was probably one more thing that was eating him up inside - another facet of his life that spiraled out of his control like everything else and probably added to the pressures that he simply could not handle. So unfortunate.
Other than Kurt and Gerard's obvious mental instability, I don't see much comparison between the two. Kurt was so much more talented. You can't compare the two bands in terms of either societal/musical impact or success. Nirvana created a musical revolution; MCR barely made a blip on the world's radar screen.
I agree that Bob is probably the closest band member to Gerard. They both seem to share the attitude that they are somehow above the rest of the world these days and that they can behave any way they want without being questioned.

Frank acts like he'd rather be anywhere else and Gerard and Bob just look completely bored/pissed. They don't look at all like a band who is thrilled to be together and recording again.

usually when Gerard was blasting off...someone who was at the concert when GW told the girls to moan for him (Belfast??) said ray started looking extremely pissed off afterwords.
These two also seem extremely closed off about their lives outside of the band... Becuase for a while not even gErard knew what ray was up too.
Bob hates getting his picture taken which granted a lot of people do but a good deal of candid pictures i've seen of him have all come from either PR or Warped.. Bob's also keeping his life private, which unlike GW and MIkey shows he has no serious love of the limelight. Yea he may come off as a bastard in real life.. then again i'm positive that there's a bunch of people who act like that in their life

After that show Frank still came out to the crowd and was signing autographs and of course everyone was asking him what happened etc. especially as this massive bruised bump on his forehead had appeared by this point, and he pretty much covered for Gerard and blamed himself for Gerard behaving like a spoilt child. He said something along the lines of how he gets too hyper on stage sometimes and gets in everyones faces and must annoy the fuck out of everyone.

Frank's expression just after it happened will stay with me forever. It was a look of total bewilderment, confusion and hurt. He looked more like a child than a man, especially in the moment just after Gerard shook him so violently. Frank walked off stage to change his guitar straight after the scuffle, and he just looked down at the floor when he came back on stage. I felt so bad for him.
I hope Gerard's got a new way of dealing with his stresses these days. A shaken crying baby won't bounce back like Frank did.

Frank was being Frank and he was going to jump on Geetard and probably have a "Franard moment" and Geetard didn't want to because his amazing girlfriend and Jimmy was there and he was trying to be all manly like. I agree with this comment. I can't wait to hear what the critics have to say. They dissed TBPID (said they band couldn't carry off the songs live) and didn't care for Desolation Row. Fans were none too impressed either, if you go by sales figures.
It's going to be very interesting to see what happens with this new record.

The few teenies who are left will say it's AMAYZING, but like Desolation Row, they won't buy it; they'll download it from filesharing communities. Mikey, Gerard and Bob will try to replace them and they'll somehow manage to eke out another record, but it will be completely unnoticed by everyone but Voluptuosity.

frank: @landongonsalves no but almost every song on the new record is tuned down half a step. Which is new we've only ever written in standard.
What i gather,when you tune down half a step it is because the singer can't hit the high notes. Like on TBP he hits the high notes. Live he sings everything lower or he lets the audience sing for him. I guess they don't want him to screw this album up!

Maybe he didn't want too? Maybe he was more hurt emotionally than he even noticed physically? Maybe that might be why he is still in (what appears to be) the band? Something is keeping him there, I doubt it's money, or fame -a contract obligation? I bet Iero is probably more disappointed in that band, all of it's members (himself included) than all the Ex-Fans combined...
i don't think guitar tuning has a lot to do with the singer's abilities. i've heard that green day used to go half or even a whole step down a long time ago, and billie joe's voice isn't that deep. sometimes it's preference. but in this case ability is probably a factor.
